We sent our mower in to have a tire replaced. I was told they were 5 days out. When I called on the 5th day I was told that the part had not yet been ordered. The contact person was rude and dismissive. When I called the next day to see if the part had been ordered, he laughed at me and told me that I would get a call when it was ready. Three weeks passed, and when we made contact again, we were told that it had been ready for 4 days and they were waiting for us to call That was a Monday we finally got the mower on Thursday, an hour and a half after the cutoff time. Not happy these people are not professional, or courteous

I took my push lawn mower in since it wouldnt start. And even though they had a 2-week waiting time, within a week or so they were able to find the problem right away and fix it. When I returned to pick it up they took care of me and in no time I was out the door with my fixed lawn mower. Theyre professional at what they do. Id recommend them to anyone.

Took my lawnmower in for repair because it wouldnt start, after repair was complete I was informed. I went in for pickup In which I was told they cant find my lawnmower, I was given a loaner for the day until they check the camera to see what happen. the next day I return the loaner and was told they have no idea what happen. they eventually refund my repair cost and also replace my mower with a similar brand. this was negligence at the highest level it should never have happen!

They do great repair work, staff is super friendly and very helpful. All work is done efficiently, timely, and cost is on point. Ive been using this shop for 5 years.

I gave them the $50.00 dollar deposit as asked. Told them it was a new motor and now the tines wont turn. I think it was a bad transmission could they help. A week later they called, and said the spark plugs was bad. I told them again it was new 10 minutes on the new motor. Tines wont turn. Long story short they couldnt fix unit. It would be $50.00 labor and spark plug. I told them Im not paying for plug. Grandson picked up unit and receipt I requested. They gave him a work sheet and not a single dollar figure on it. Never use these people.

Okay, so this is the kind of review that I LIKE to write! So Ive been coming to this business for literally decades. It used to be Hanks, and sometimes when management changes, so does the quality of the service (for the worse). But not today! I brought my Dads Sears/chainsaw in the other day (its from the 70s, so its a bit of a keepsake)… the engine was running just fine, and so was the fuel as it poured out the side of the cover! I just knew that the problem had to be connected to the old fuel lines, so thats what I told them to focus on. Fast-forward to 2 weeks later after they replaced the fuel lines. Problem is, the unit wont run now. I bring it back and ask them to review their work. I catch a little bit of blow-back from one of the women, but Andrew LISTENS and takes it back. Fast-forward another week and what do you know!!!! The problem was in the fuel system connection! They didnt try to gloss it over, sugar-coat it, deny it, or anything like that. They simply said our mistake and problem solved! Were up and running again, cutting some small limbs in the back yard, Dad would be happy.

Took my mower for a repair quote. They were very honest and upfront about the cost.Looked to buy a lawn mower and had one picked out and ready to buy from them. The employee ( who said he was the manager) saw the price that was listed on the mower and immediately said it was wrong and would not honor the listed price, said it was too low, refused to sell it to me at the listed price.

I called in to repair my pressure washer and they were very honest about the price and recommended I go somewhere else because it would most likely be cheaper for me in the long run. This is not common now days and I really appreciated the care for the customer. I will certainly be calling them first for any future repairs.

Been meaning to do this for a while. I live on the eastern shore of Virginia. I purchased my mower from a local dealer. I was told at least 5 weeks before they could look at it. I called Hanks and they said one week. 1 1/2 weeks later they were working on my mower. I have now been using my Mower for about 2 months. It is perfect. The price they charged was much less than I had anticipated. I would give them a higher rating but five stars is the limit.

Hanks Mower Repair is the epitome of what good and reliable service should be. The people behind the desk are courteous and friendly and willing to impart a how to or a dont do when discussing a tool. My repairs are done correctly and within a reasonable time. On occasion they have sharpened a blade or charged a battery because they saw it was needed and I had overlooked. I live within 5-8 minutes of a competitor and I instead drive 20 minutes to patronize Hanks Mower. Try them if you have a problem with a motorized tool.

Very honest and dependable people. I do not live close, yet my brother has bought a weed eater from them after his had broken down. They gave him a good recommendation and with a good price, he had since bought the weed eater from them and has had no problems. I have called and talked with the owner for a question on our own mower, since we live at a distance and took his recommendation and was able to fix the problem with his help. Instead of recalling, I decided to drive to their store. In store they were courteous and helpful. I was able to get a part I needed and was also able to order another part. The prices were reasonable.

I use to take my mower years ago when it was called Rices Mower Repair.Purchased a used (like new) mower from Hanks last week and got excellent customer service. I would rather buy a used mower from Hanks and get excellent customer service instead of the big box stores and be stuck on my own when mower doesnt work.Try them, you wont be disappointed.

I needed a part to have my lawn mower repaired and was having no luck finding it. Other place was saying that the part could not be found and gave us the round around. By chance we found Hanks Mower Repair where the folks could not have been more courteous and helpful. They ordered the part, no problem, and it arrived within a few days. This place is terrific - they have everything you could want for a great price and deserves to get everyones business!

I was very pleased with the service provided by Hanks Mower Repair. For a reasonable fee, they picked up my lawn tractor, repaired it quickly, and dropped it right back at my doorstep in less than a week. I feel I was charged a very reasonable price for the totality of the needed repairs. When Hanks picked up my mower, they removed the leaf bagger and left it in the yard. I was very pleased with the prompt repair, but even more impressed that they took the time to retrieve the bag attachment in my yard...quite a distance away, and replaced it on my mower, so Im truly ready to roll. As a single woman with my own home, this small gesture meant a lot to me and it shows they care. I will be a lifetime customer.

So I took my lawn mower their with the notion that my piston was out of commission. The reason why I give a 5 stars is the honesty and they actually let you talk to the mechanic, so I dont remember the mechanics name John or something he was going on leave soon and turn my lawn mower on and said good new it the carburetor, it needs to be replace. even after I told him that it was the piston. If you want and honest answer take it here! Now customer service is a whole new ball game, my goodness now me being 39 yrs and being in the military for 18yrs and seeing these kids in the front desk I had to pause and take there immaturity do to the fact that at least they have a job! But they could work on there manner both at the front desk and on the phone and not act like there being bothered when someone call about how long will it take or why is it taking so long.

They performed the job as promised, on time, at the price they quoted. I would go back to them again for my lawn mower repairs.

Overpriced used mowers

I had very nice service at Hanks Mower Repair last Saturday when I dropped off my Weedeater mower for repair..The staff even asked if I needed help getting the mower out of my cars trunk...I received a call this morning telling me that my mower was ready for pickup...Now,thats fast, turn around service.

Horrible service! I took my Craftsman weed eater in April 23, 2016. I cleaned the carburetor and when that didnt resolve the problem I decided to take it to Hanks. Ive been to Hanks a few times in the past for blade sharpening and engine repair on a old Tiller I have, and they were great, fixed the Tiller no problems. But, this time the young Man at the counter (I doubt hes ever pushed a Mower less work on one) told me its probably by the carburetor and it would cost me $120.00! I said I might as well buy a new Weed Eater, and he said we have a brand new selection on the wall for $199.00. Im not an idiot, I know when Im being scammed. So I went to Sears, bought a new carburetor for $19.00 and replaced the old one with 2 screws and a gasket. It turns out the problem is the exhaust and not the carburetor as Mr. Expert at Hanks so quickly diagnosed. So, my advice is dont go to Hanks for repair, but if you need a new Kawasaki weed eater or $5,000 riding mower, than Hanks is for you. Hanks has to be under new ownership and the owners Son was probably working the counter when I was there.

I really like the people here. My mower sat sad and neglected in my backyard for three years. I wasn’t sure it could be fixed, but the folks at Hank’s fixed it right up better than ever! They are knowledgeable, fast, and fair in price. I will always use them if my mower needs servicing.

I feel totally used - one star is giving them far too much credit.After keeping equipment for weeks - and proclaiming my mower not economical to repair (a $40 assessment I now regret accepting) - I paid them over $100 to repair my string trimmer. They obviously did nothing (honestly - if I hadnt already sunk $40 into the assessment fee... I would have purchased a new unit). The issue I reported is that it would start and then die - maybe lasting 10-20 seconds at the longest. I bought it home - took off the tags from their shop, and started it up. It died in two seconds. I tried again - maybe ten seconds. Last try, it lasted almost fifteen. Then it wouldnt start at all. I will ignore the fact they also stripped the nut the allows attachments to be tightened on - which was working FINE when it was dropped off.I mean - really? You charge over $100 to repair a unit and obviously dont even take 30-40 seconds to test it? Demanding a refund of the money spent and never darkening their door again. They can keep the $40 for the lawnmower (and the spare parts they probably yanked off it... I wish I hadnt left it behind)Do yourself a favor and steer WELL CLEAR of this group of hacks. If this had a been a NEW issue - I might have some understanding. The fact that they couldnt even be bothered to take 2-3 minutes to validate the repair shows a total lack of professionalism.

Owner / Manager marks up everything in store 160% to 200%. Does under the table business. Gets frustrated easily and all it comes down to is the dollar going into his pocket. If you want to go get ripped off by some teenagers that work there then go right ahead. My opinion You can hire Ray mobile Mechanic for the same price and have it done at your house.

Really liked at first! Took a mower for repair which was under warranty and it was fixed the next day! Took a 2nd mower for repair.....the amount to fix it exceeded the value of the mower (to us)...for $100 more we could buy a new one. We told them to keep it. ...was disappointed that they wouldnt let us apply our $40 deposit to another piece of equipment. Just sayin. ...we GAVE them a mower worth about $400.... Even with $250 worth of needed repairs, it was free plus a $40 profit!

I usually dont write a review about a company, but I feel compelled to write this review. I brought 2 lawn mowers for repair; spent close to 400.00 dollars (I repaired the things that was recommended). Less than month later I had to return both lawn mowers because they were not operating properly.To make long story short, I was told that I water was in one lawn mower; please note when I pick my lawn mower up from the 1st repair I put only the expensive gasoline that the repairer recommended (purchase gasoline from Hanks). So I dont know how gasoline ended up in my gas tank other than that it was probably in the gasoline that I purchased from the company.When I returned my lawn mowers, I was made to feel that it was my fault; was talk to harshly; and I had to pay an additional 75.00 dollars to get a blade adjusted.I dont mind paying for services rendered; the most diffficult problem that I had was the nasty talk. I previously had a good experience with Hanks, but the customer service has deminished, so I will not be returning.

We took in a WORKING but hard-to-start mower for an estimate on an overhaul. After we paid the $40 deposit in advance, we were told the mower needed $338 in repairs. Since the mower is over six years old, we decided to pick it up so we could use it while we shopped around for a new one.When my husband went to pick up the mower, he was handed a NONWORKING chassis and miscellaneous loose pieces! Save your money and find another shop!

I called for a quote asking about how much it would cost to replace a drive belt that spins my blades and was told its $60 (diagnostic) to find out what size belt it needs and then its whatever parts and labor to get it fixed will most definitely not be to see this store !!

It took some time for my mower to be repaired but they were quite busy and they had difficulty in getting the replacement belt from the manufacturer. I just picked it up yesterday and ran it and its working well.
