This was the first visit since I knew it was sold. So I dont know if it was sold again or not. Anyway, we did the cotton top early dinner think. We were driving into Waco and we were hungry and why not. First thing I notice it was nicer but it still have the same look and fell and you still filled out you own menu. We did the Saturday special Ribeye for 2, wife got grilled green beans and I got Steak veggies and we both got house salad and a beer. Its note your 5 star restaurant but the service was fast, friendly, Steak was tasty, could have been more rare but its was yummy. We both agree the star of show the grilled green beans wow yuuuuuumy. The grilled favor went well the the beans. All in all, for sure it a stop byer again for sure good buddy. Cant remember for sure but it was less than $50. The service was very good. They food was good. Its been a long time since I ate at Lone Star Steak House. It was before the owners that have it now bought the place. The steaks back then was VERY THIN & the chicken fries had very little meat & a lot of crust. They are not like that no more. Good steaks & good chicken fries. Again.

Steak was cooked to perfection and the sides were so good, but the best part was their fried pickles! They were a perfect golden brown and the flavor was great!

Our first time at Lone Star Tavern and Steak House. It will not be our last. We went one the recommendation of a friend. When we arrived the place was busy but we were seated quickly. The service was great. The food was even better! Highly recommend!

I stopped here because a friend said it was good. I saw some cop cars here so that told me it was good. I got a B.L.T., fries, a peach cobbler and some water total cost less then $14. I wanted something simple and good and I got it the side of fries was big enough for two. So you get what you pay for here. Will try again.

The steak was so juicy and tender. Service was awesome. Our family always judges a place on how good the ranch is and it was really good. Lol. The rolls...amazing.

Only thing that was good was the salad. Over priced since food was not good. I asked for A-1 sauce 3 times and never got it, I had to get up and get it myself. After they brought our food we never saw another waitress. It was our first time so I had no idea we had to go pay at the bar. I had to get my own to go box. I would’ve not been upset if customer service was good but I am big on customer service. Won’t return

The ribeye did not disappoint. Its was so tender and cooked perfectly. The staff was kind and welcoming. We enjoyed our whole experience and will be back to try something else.

Been meaning to try this place for two years, however l didnt on account of it just looks lonely and dark from the outside, man was I pleasantly surprised and happy l did finally did everything the service was great, food was great, my biggest was the ambience excellent. Ordered meatloaf. Got a large portion of meat ONLY. No tomato sauce, ketchup, onions or bellpepper. Just a hamburger meat slab. Verified with waitress the entree was correct. It was. Had lots of meatloaf in my life but nothing like this. Youve been warned.(Update)***Received a response from Lone Star Tavern who stated meatloaf is cooked with finely diced onions, ketchup and other sauces and seasonings inside.Cant speak to what was inside but definitely, NO ketchup or onions. Just a large hunk of meat. Maybe the cook was new. I stand by my original review.

Wonderful catering services! Our kids were treated like royalty when they went to taste items for wedding reception. Prior to the big day and also day of wedding. Excellent communication of services they would provide, affordable costs and quality of food was excellent. Caterers were very attentive to details. Highly recommend!

Still a great place to eat. If you leave hungry, its your fault! Mashed potatoes on the sides had to be at least two big ones! The chicken fried steak is really and fresh. The salad could use some work but its a steakhouse, not a salad joint.

Love their Friday specials. Our family can enjoy steak and the prices are very reasonable.

Every Texas city used to have a place like this -- namely a place with inexpensive steaks, tons of Texas atmosphere, and friendly help. Fortunately, the Waco area still has a place like this -- Lone Star Tavern and Steakhouse.The steaks may not be the thickest or prettiest around -- but theyre cooked to order and well seasoned. Theres plenty of options for sides and unlike a lot of other places, they still serve rolls.Our order came out accurately and quickly. We got everything we asked for, including drink refills without having to ask.In short, if youre looking for a reasonably priced steak served with a smile, this is the place in Waco to stop at -- not the place on I-35.

The food really outperformed the atmosphere. My sirloin was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Friendly service. Set expectations for hole-in-the-wall rather than Steakhouse with a capital S and its a nice meal at a great value.

Great place to have a steak is you have never been here before. Rib eyes, New York Strips, Fillets, and Flat Iron steaks on the menu. The rib eye was fantastic. Great flavor and seasoning that does not overshadow the beef. Family run atmosphere and great service as well. If you are in the area, this is a great place to eat.

Disappointing seasoning. Our food was very bland. Cooked perfectly, but there was no flavor. Except for the seasonal vegetables that werent cooked nor seasoned. The highlight was the potatoes. They were flavorful and cooked. But for the expense we paid for the meal they could have added a little salt and pepper.

This was my first visit to this steak house. The food was excellent! I have nothing bad to say about the food. However. The service was really lacking. My fiance ordered coffee, and the waitress was kind enough to have a fresh pot made, but he had to remind her 15 minutes later he ordered coffee. The waitress asked if I wanted more tea, I had coca cola. They were not busy, yet both waitresses stood by the counter most of the night. After we had finished, we were not told how to pay. Not only do you mark your order on the paper menu, but you have to take said menu to the bar and pay. The waitresses were not rude, but certainly not friendly and attentive either. I loved the food enough to give them another try.

Very disappointed! the meatloaf was horrible the green beans were out so the steamed vegetables were substituted which were frezerburned and shriveled up. The ribeye steak was cooked well but the Ribeye cap which is the most premium part of the Ribeye was not there.

Lone Star catered our daughter’s wedding this last weekend. The food was amazing! Scott and his staff were wonderful the entire evening! If you are considering having any event catered, I would highly recommend them, you definitely will not be disappointed from start to finish. They are extremely easy to work with and very friendly!

Food was good old home style like it has always been. I used to go there with my grandmother and now I have taken my grand kids.

This is a decent place to eat. The right place to get a reasonable amount of food, at a average price. I wasnt impressed with the sirloin or NY Strip my wife and I had, but the country fried steak on of my children ordered was excellent.Having read previous reviews, I was not surprised by fake bacon bits and squeezable margarine on the table. I did however note that the owner was quick to respond to complaints with the comment that they were more than happy to help fix a thing if you found something lacking.So I asked for real butter... the question seemed to confuse the waitress, pointing to the squeezable margarine after I pointed out it was margarine. She returned a few minutes later with small packets of... more margarine.The atmosphere is rustic, with a lot of care put in to making it warm and friendly and a lot of Texas flair.

Still the great food I enjoyed growing up, but now without the cigarette smoke. Love the food there. Beer is super cold. Service was great. Prices cant be beat. This place is worth the drive!

Always good. Ive been going there for. 29 years and not much has changed. Yes, they have had a remodel but their menu has changed a little and the beer is still cold. Excellent food. I recommend it highly. It is kid friendly. Alot of great times, great people and excellent food. I think thats all you need to know to go there.

It was so peaceful this evening. You could actually hear the country music playing in the background. I had a 12 oz. sirloin. It was the best steak Ive had in awhile. The waitress was very nice as well. Ill be back.

I like to walk in a restaurant and feel like theyve been waiting for me 😁. They think ahead and give you everything you need. My steak was tender and juicy. My baked potato was delicious. I also like that they treat me like a big kid and let me decide how much dressing I want on my salad. Squeeze butter. Bam!

I felt that the prices were a little high for the type of an establishment that this was! Although the food was good the service is not what I would expect for paying these kind of prices for steaks. you have to go and stand in line at the register to pay your tab after you have finished your meal! You order by filling out a large piece of paper that has the menu on it! Although this may be fun for many people it just didnt ring my bell.

This place is the A typical hole in the wall restaurant thats truly a gem. Honestly its very easy to overlook. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Bellmead Texas and the staff is amazing. The Ribeye is one of the best deals in town.

Id been to Lone Star Tavern before, but its been a decade or more. Coming back, I had high hopes. I was disappointed, though, in the food quality. The steaks were bland, and not correctly cooked. I got the steak and shrimp combo, and the shrimp was obviously the cheap, frozen, in-the-bag type. Salads were mediocre, and the prices werent super affordable. Its one thing to get a mediocre steak and pay $8 for it, but I was thoroughly disappointed in the price for the quality. The only redeeming quality - the service was pretty solid and friendly.

The place seems to have been remodeled. Its nice in there. We were seated at the table and asked what we wanted to drink. She brought us our drinks. Nice lady. Then they brought us shredded salad. Different. Ranch or Thousand Island dressing from a squeeze bottle. For your orders you just circle them on the paper. We ordered onion rings. When they came out they were more like over deep fried batter rings. They dont really put enough onion in there. I ordered a 22oz sirloin steak rare (thats how I like it). There wasnt a whole of seasoning to it that I actually had to use A1, and if your eating a good steak you shouldnt need sauce. All in all they could use some better chefs.

They have a *weekend only* special - 2, yes two, 10 ounce ribeye with a roll, side salad and your choice of side for only 28$ and I think that is a hell of a deal compared to most steak houses. I get mine blue to rare and they cooked and seasoned it perfectly! The staff was super friendly and took very good care of us! Definitely a place Im going to be visiting again soon!

Very friendly atmosphere!!! the staff tends to be very prompt and accurate with your order. The place is kept cleaner than it used to be as ownership has cleaned up the place since its changed hands and hence it has undergone upgrades and renovations that have livened the place up a lot. Food is fantastic. A very nice small quaint Steakhouse with great service and even better food.😆 they also have a mini bar... Bonus😆

We had lonestar cater our wedding and Scott did an AMAZING job. From the time we first met him to do our sample tasting to the day of the wedding he did such an awesome job. He not only did his job but he went above and beyond to make our special day smooth. He offered to turn our music on and light candles for us at the reception hall and more. He was very helpful. We highly recommend this place!

It was so delicious. it has a great feel to it.

We had a tasty burger lunch here and are glad to see them doing so well. The burgers were cooked nicely, the crinkle cut fries were crispy on the outside and crispy and steaming hot on the inside. They still have the menu where you Circle what you want and how you want it cooked. The waitress was very friendly and attentive so we will definitely return to check this place out again.

My 10 ounce ribeye steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection! The grilled shrimp cocktail and grilled green beans were also very good and they have the best buttermilk pie! The service was great!

First time going to the restaurant and it was a great experience! We wanted to visit after watching the restaurant featured on the city of waco channel and I wanted to eat the meal that they prepared on the show. I ended up ordering the incorrectly and told the waitress and she was so accommodating. I was truly happy with the whole experience and will definitely be going back. Everyone loved the meal that they chose.

My husband and I have eaten here multiple times since moving to Waco. Great steaks, large portions and affordable prices! Their desserts are fantastic - amaretto bread pudding and peach cobbler are our favorites. And their sweet tea is perfect!

Love going there to eat. Food was delicious. It was very crowded when we got ther and had to wait until a table big enough for five people to become available.

Food here is awesome and though a little pricey for my taste you definitely get your moneys worth. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I have had and I will definitely go back.

Ive eaten here many times and its usually very good. Today however was lacking. The appetizers came at the same time as the entre and were barely warm. Fried pickles and fried mushrooms were more batter than anything and were swimming in oil. The fries had no flavor and the rolls just tasted terrible. The steaks on the other hand were cooked perfectly and delicious.
