Need ranger very slow play, otherwise great golf course!!! Well maintained greens were super. The layout was fun!! Had a good time
Very well maintained course. mid winter, there were people on fairways doing maintenance. Course is not forgiving if you go astray. I like the GPS on the carts and the zebra pols in the mid fairway for direction to the hole. Attractive layout for the course.Golf and grill staff are very friendly and helpful. W e were guests on this club course, Members treated us like welcomed guests. All in all this is a great course, A bit pricy at $100.00 (+) for two of us, but not too bad.Be proud of your course. We were very pleased..
Awesome course, best shape around waco, playing every week thank u bear ridge
Greens are so consistent and very readable. The amenities of a private club. Staff very friendly. Definitely going back again.
I’m here every other weekend. Best golf course in Waco. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Perfect! Had my first private lesson with their club pro, Bobby Wilson (2 time world long drive champion), then played 9 holes. The course is im much better shape under the new ownership, and theyve completely torn out and reinstalled brand new greens, along with a lot of fairway grass. The old owners ran it into the ground, but its in great shape now, and its only getting better. Course has a great and challenging layout. Highly recommend!
Stopped by to use the driving range and practice. The customer service in the pro shop was awesome and made me feel very welcome. The course looked 100x better than last year and was hosting a tournament.Ill continue to come back and look forward to all the improvements.
First time playing.... Great course.. looking forward to playing again
Certainly in better shape than last year. New owners are putting some money into improving the course. Still plenty of room for improvement, but its going in the right direction.
Finally got out to play today. Course is in way better condition that past years. Still a long way to go to return it to its former self. But the new greens look pretty good, and the bunkers are great. Greens were slow due to the sand, but once that settles I think theyll be great. GUR on several holes and I am very excited to see where they will be next year. Fairways look great for this time of year and you can tell they have been trying to maintain as best as possible. The only thing I can think to address is the price and cart GPS. Its still a tad pricey I did play on a Saturday morning so high cost is expected, but I think they could lower the twilight round or cart cost for twilight a few bucks. When I come back I might just stick to walking the course. As for the cart GPS on the back 9 I had an ad for some builder for two and a half holes. The other cart didnt have the same ad at all so Im sure it was just a glitch. Overall really good experience compared to where its been
Theyve done so much to improve this course and it gets better every time I play it.
The new owner is putting in some good work. This is the best the fairways have looked in years. Can’t wait till the greens are finished!
Dont bother spending your money or your time. I called yesterday to set up a tee time and they said they were wide open. I should have known something was up when they said that. I paid just under 90 dollars for my brother and I to play, they charged a cart fee and for a rider. We got to playing and the first 9 holes the greens were 85% dirt and sand. The fairways were absolutely dreadful. They have cracks that you can stick your entire iron down. Definitely lost four to five balls just from going in the large cracks. We live in San Antonio, and if you pay 90 dollars youre at a really nice well kept course. This definitely is not that. Very disappointing.
Greens were awesome and fast. Fairways were in good shape as well
Way to expensive for shape its in. Making great strides. Greens much better. But 60.00 waaaay to much for conditions.
Twin Rivers, having been the home course for Baylor University, was always in pristine condition. My regular weekend foursome had not played there since early Spring of 2018. What a difference a year makes! Apparently they lost their water pumping system last Summer, and were not able to properly water the course, and it has not recovered.Twin Rivers is a great layout, and I wish them every success in their efforts to bring it back to its former glory!
Tl;dr: Currently unplayable. However, by late 2020 or into 2021/2022 the golf community will need to give this place a shot. The design alone puts it up there with the best courses in Dallas and Austin let alone Waco. We’ll be backIf only this course looked like the picture on their website. At the time we played (7/5/2020) it’s not even close. In fact, this isn’t even really a golf course. Yes there are makers for where to tee off but that’s about it. The “greens” are spray painted orange circles around a flag stick stabbed into the fairway grass – typically 100+ yards short of the real greens which are slowly growing out. This effectively makes this a driver-chip shot-chip shot course (there’s no putting in the current condition). Additionally, it’s clear a decent amount of work needs to be done to the auxiliary elements of the course. Everything from leveling out tee boxes and fairways (get ready for a bumpy ride driving to your ball on a few holes), killing (many. so many) weeds/clovers/random shrubs, renovating previously removed bunkers, removing the mud pits in the areas between holes/under trees by laying down pine straw/mulch/top soil (anything really), fixing some of the walkways up to tee boxes and picking up trash (especially on the 14th which along with the 4th are arguably the signature holes on this course – it was sad to see it like that), and filling in some of the water features that seemed to be drying up in places. In my uneducated grounds-keeping opinion, I think this course needs to be closed twice to let it grow out without interference. The first time to identify bald spots/weeds/clovers/shrubs and the second time for it to grow out and give them a chance to manicure it into pristine, playable condition. On top of that some old school TLC is all that’s needed to get the little things right.WITH THAT BEING SAID, we will definitely be returning. The design of this course is potentially the best I’ve seen. Every hole is truly unique and it’s going to be a course that really makes you think. The front nine has huge elevation changes along with several risk-reward elements. The closing holes of the back nine snake through the woods with tight fairways. There’s a hole with an Augusta 15th esque blind tee shot and downhill second, there’s a 600+ yard par 5 with a severe dog leg off the tee (4 iron -> 3 wood -> 4 iron ??), there’s a hole with a 40 yard wide landing zone with water in the front and left then bunkers on the right, there’s a “hit it from this tee box on the side of a cliff” par 3 into a forest amphitheater. We found out afterwards that this used to be the BU golf team’s former home course – that should key you into the type of design that would challenge a division I level golfer.I truly truly truly hope the new management has the time, money, and willingness to restore this course to what it’s design offers. It may take another season or two for it to get there, but when it does I can tell you this – it’ll be hard to find a tee time.
Great layout, and could be the best course around with some work. Under new ownership, and they failed to consider that the course is in horrible shape. If you want to more than double green fees, at least remove the clover patches from the greens.
This used to be a great course. One of the best in the state. Not any more. I have played it many times when I traveled to Waco. I went today, and it looks like they havent watered all year. Even the bushes in the parking lot are dying. I just turned around and left. Its so sad to see it in such a state. This was an excellent course years ago.
Fun, challenging course
Ive played this course many times! It is one of the most challenging. The front 9 and back 9 very different and its one of the largest courses in Texas top 4. Fact check.
I’m sorry I don’t typically take the time for anything negative like this but I played here today and I must say those were some of the worst fairways I’ve ever seen!!The greens? Don’t even ask! In fact they weren’t even green in color. Almost impossible to putt straight there was so much sand and so many holes and divots.Great layout and a nice and peaceful atmosphere overall but the playing itself was gruesome!
Sorry but this course is the worst I have seen in central Texas. Watching my ball bounce around on the greens when putting was frustrating. Even the tee boxes were in pretty bad shape. I didnt finish the 18 I paid for, just wasnt worth it. This course was beautiful 3 years ago, what happened???
There are flagsticks, thats how we knew it was a golf course EDIT: Good to hear about the new management! This was one of my favorite courses years ago, looking forward to seeing it back in action. Thanks for the attention.
The course is in great condition. Some awesome wide fairways to let your big driver loose! Some tricky little par 3s that are a challenge! 45 off the stick front nine for me but the back nine was not my friend today. Love this course. We will see it again soon for sure!
Course if priced fair. Pro shop is well equipped and the staff seem to always be friendly. The course isn’t always in the best shape but still enjoyable.
I am a beginner golfer and my only complaint was that I lost almost all the balls in my bag. Other than that the fair ways and greens were in great shape. And it was a very enjoyable game of golf.
The greens were awful and not taken care of.. the driving range was OK but NOT the best... I think if they start watering the greens and put sand in the holes on the driving range would be a start of getting better,But I dont think my family or me will go back any time soon...☹️🙁😞
What happened to this course! I have played courses in West Texas that are better than this in its current state. Only positive is that it is BYOB, so you can get drunk enough and pretend you are plying the US Open.
Its come along way from 5 months ago and heading in the right direction!!
I really liked the layout of the course, but the course was very poorly maintained. Fairways were in bad shape and greens were almost unplayable. I will not be playing this course again.
Went and played there today, at bear ridge golf course worst experience ever. Customer service at the pro shop was kind of rude. Course wasn’t kept up with, temporary greens didn’t even have a hole to put to. And not to mention that it was almost $40 a person with temporary greens. Won’t be going back to play there ever again.
Well this course is disintegrated through the years and hopefully these new owners will take care of their Fairways and greens and at least allow people to play on a course not just a fairway thats it thats rough and greens that have bumps not manicured but all in all its a good course if you want to go waste time for the day. Played again still bump bump bump on greens....
Golf course is in TERRIBLE shape. Ground was super hard, with no grass anywhere on the fairways or greens. Use an old set of clubs if you play here, the ground is going to damage your clubs.
Too expensive, course is in awful condition, the grill is closed, and they cant serve alcohol. Go play cottonwood or battle lake instead. It really is a shame because this used to be one of the nicest courses in central Texas.
Played in great tournament. Crestview. Several bunkers in terrible condition, overall course in really good shape.
This course has a fantastic layout however it is not maintained at all. There are weeds on most of the greens which make it hard to putt. Non of the bunkers have or seem to ever get raked so they are rock hard. This course despetately needs to have the irrigation system turned on and used. This golf course would be the best in Waco if they took care of it.The driving range is also very disappointing. It is basically a field with some flags thrown in it. Grass in the range is tall and full of tall weeds. This course has the potential to be great. Cmon management please start taking pride in this course and get it back into the shape it once was many years ago.
All around good course. There are multiple tee selections for different skill levels.
Improving but still rough. No playable sand in the bunkers, some greens have bad patches or dirt.
I travel for work and this is the best Golf Course I have played in Texas. And its under $30. The back 9 is very challenging. Take my advice and buy one of those course books they sell for 5 bucks.
Beautiful course and challenging. The staff is friendly and helpful
Great quality course for a fair price. They also offer a great Groupon deal.
It will s really hard for me to give someone such a long rating. But my husband was not happy with this place at all. He is not happy that Im giving it a 2star. The layout is good. The maintenance is absolutely horrible.
Great food and customer service. Fast and friendly
This place is trash. The owner does not care about the course condition and should just sell the place already to someone who knows what to do.
Fun track to play, unfortunately a couple holes were flooded on the day I played...
One of the worst courses I’ve ever played..... the conditions are terrible and even at $30 it was way overpriced!
Just don’t even waste your money.
I called to see what their twilight rate was and then said I was coming out and if I needed a tee time! The gentleman said no tee needed just come on out! Drove 45 miles to find out 2 tournaments were going on and I couldnt play!!!! Ask since I drove so far could I get a green fee or cart compt for next time, the anwer was NO, thats why Cottonwood and Battlelake are the most played courses in Waco.
I was working there I work for Fitzgerald landscaping Ltd
I would give it 0 stars if possible.I played the first hole, and walked back to the pro shop and asked for a Refund.I cant believe the course is still operational, in the condition that its in. From the box to green, is nothing but weeds and dead grass. The green was horrific, no chance to even attempt to put on them.DO NOT play here.
Great remodel looking good
Slow this time of year, so great access
Terrible course. Website is misleading. Greens are in really bad shape. Very poor management and they no longer serve alcohol. We won’t be back.
Not personable. Poorly run
For the price you pay, this course is a steal. Theyve really turned it around, greens are in great shape.
My husband went here three times in one week! He said its one of his favorite courses.
Its a great place for playing golf
Course is in great shape.and laid out well.
Looks good cannot wait to play it
The course is a great layout.
Over the past 2 years this has become Texas worst golf course, it has become almost unplayable.
It may as well be a parking lot. That is all....
Course is dead!!! Worst golf course!! Dont spend your money at this place. Highly doubt that the Baylor golf teams practice at this place like the website states.
Will be returning
WRONG LABEL YES...FOR GOLFERS EXCELLENT.
Good golf course
Beautiful!
Nice in hurried
Very good
