I’ve been here a few times before and always had a great experience! Just recently I had my catalytic converter get stolen, James found one much quicker than I expected! They even had the car repaired before the insurance money came in! I’m happy and will return again!!

First Class Service!! I had a Coolant Leak. I called and was advised I could come over immediately for a diagnosis. I Brought our van into Oakmont Auto Care about an hour later and they were able to figure out where the leak was coming from. Which was a cracked radiator. I authorized the repair. They ordered a new one from a dealer. When it arrived the Manufacturer had “superseded” the original one with a later version. The later version was less than half the capacity of the original. Oakmont called me and recommended that I use an aftermarket one that actually has a slightly larger capacity than the original. I Tow a large trailer with the van and the “factory replacement” would not have worked on a hot day. This is the kind of knowledge and Service that is Excellent!! And So hard to find! These guys are Great!!

I am not a car person other than I drive one so when my car started making funky noises, I took my car here. They ran diagnostics, let me know up front what they thought was wrong and an estimated price an an estimated time when I would get my car back. Both estimations were right on target. Love this place!

Initially, I was happy with the service and rated it a 5* but when my front axle disconnected from the differential because of snap clip installation error less than a week later, I was unhappy. James and Colin apologized for not realizing the inconvenience and repaired the failed part. They also offered to assist with towing after the fact. They are an honest shop and try to do their best. The final resolution was to my satisfaction.

Theyve probably done more than I listed, I cannot remember. Ive been bringing my car here since I moved to Walnut Creek 3.5 years ago. Theyre all so friendly. They dont try to rip you off or suggest things you dont need. They always offer rides and are always on time!

I took my Toyota Avalon into the service after experiencing a cylinder misfire error which occurred after the car ran for five minutes and was idling at stop lites(felt like it was going to stall). I read the error using my own diagnostic tool and scheduled an appointment for the following week with Oakmont. Dropped my car off on the day. They ended up not being able to use their own diagnostic machines for two to three days and kept apologizing when I called to get an update. They told me they werent able to reproduce the error but suggested maybe it was my battery which was dying. I replaced the battery per that suggestion and asked them to drive the car for five minutes and see if they had the issue. They didnt have the issue with the cylinder misfire and told me it was fixed. Charged me 422 dollars for their diagnostic and the battery Drove it home and then to work the next morning. The same problem came up within five minutes and the issue had not been touched. They clearly had no idea what to do and I had to take it to another mechanic who discovered the issue and fixed it. Have not respect for this garage anymore.

This is the second time I used Oakmont Auto Care. James the owner, is a skilled mechanic and great person. Please help out their business as it is suffering during the pandemic.James, the owner, was referred by a smog transmission technician, when my car needed repair work. During that first visit James was very honest and showed me the issue with my car, and repaired it well. Recently, my car broke down, and I called James. He was responsive and offered to help right away. He offered a diagnostic service vs. replacing the battery. He gave me pictures detailing the issues before proceeding with repairs. Other auto repair services I use in the past have never provided that level of service! James personally wiped down the steering wheel and other areas his staff touched with Lysol before giving it back to me to minimize transmission of germs. He made arrangements to accomodate my work schedule, so we split up the car repair into 2 days. Overall, great auto repair facility!

First time customer and the experience was great. Called ahead and asked if there was an opening for a walk-in oil change and they asked if I could leave the car for an hour. James (the owner) greeted me and took care of processing the work order for my oil change from start to finish. Also performed tire rotation, fluid checks, and some other things. They had me in and out of there in under the hour they originally promised. I will be bringing my other vehicles there in the future. Thanks!

Oakmont took care of my brake system flush and diagnosed a scratching noise coming from passenger rear of my vehicle. It ended up being a bad wheel bearing. They recommend changing both, so I did. Great service and communication, kept me updated through the whole process and explained costs step by step. Will be going to them in the future for future repairs.

I recommend Oakmont Auto Care.James and his staff of technicians are helpful and professional.Last week, our car battery died in a parking lot nearby and one of the technicians dropped what he was doing, jumped our car and got me on my way in minutes. We agreed I would drop by the next day to test battery and get a new one as needed.The next day, there was a battery waiting and they took care of my battery swap quickly and efficiently.

I am lost for words with how happy I am with the overall process of receiving repairs on my civic. A man named Collin checked me in, offered me a ride to bart, gave my kids candy and water as we filled out paperwork. James followed up with me as to what needed to be repaired and was 100% accurate and sent me photos with descriptions . The repairs were done by the time i got off of work, and Collin picked me up and took me to the shop. This is my spot in Walnut Creek area for oil changes on my 2009 Infiniti G37. I typically do oil changes myself, but Ive since been garage-less after obtaining this car, so I dont have anywhere to work on it alone and I dont very much like paying exuberant prices at the dealership just for a quick service. I dont very much trust many quick lube places either, so I feel much better coming to Oakmont when I dont have an opportunity to work on my car myself. A good middle-ground my wallet can be happy with, I know my car will be treated with care, and I sleep better at night knowing my money is going to local business/community and not some huge chain/corporation.Most recently I went in for a Check Engine Light that was pulling a code P2A00 (O2 Sensor / Bank 1 Sensor 1) causing me to fail smog test. The owner James highly recommended that we did a full diagnostics check, because it was absolutely possible there was nothing wrong with the oxygen sensor at all even though that was the engine code being pulled. Me coming from old 90s Hondas/Acuras (which seemingly have about a third of the sensors todays cars have), I was certain there was no need for an extra diagnostics check and we just needed to replace the oxygen sensor and everything will be fine. Paid for it and I thought everything was good. However the same P2A00 (oxygen sensor) check engine light came back two days later. Brought the car back and this time I agreed to do the diagnostics check like James suggested the first time around. A smoke test on the exhaust system was part of that check and turns out one of my catalytic converters had a crack, causing conflicting readings between the oxygens sensors, but the car was simply saying the first O2 sensor has an issue. So we replaced the catalytic converter and the check engine light never came back (which has now been about month before writing this review). I should have listened to James from the get go! I essentially paid for two expensive parts in the end when I only needed to pay for one expensive part. ***Long story short — Listen to James if he suggests you do the diagnostics check. *** So many highly-sensitive components in todays cars that are all working together simultaneously. Its easy to quickly assume its as simple as replacing just one particular part, all because a code reader says there is an issue here.Thanks again for taking care of this! I am due for an oil change in the coming weeks, so see you guys again soon.

Amazing service!! I found out late on a Saturday afternoon that my car was failing the smog check due to a defective brake booster hose. I showed up unannounced at Oakmont looking for help. We heard some monster noise from the bottom of our truck at I-680 near Danville at 5:30PM after heavy duty driving at North California. We found and called the Oakmont Auto Care from Google. James at Oakmont Auto Care told us that he would happy to help even its late afternoon already. He found the problem, which is a pair of broken front bearings, in one minutes and told us that we could have the truck in late morning next day. James was very professional and accommodating. He listened politely to my request and made sure my concerns were addressed. He did the brake repair and oil change, ahead of schedule and I was back on the road in no time.I noticed that my lug socket key was missing, after I left. I called James and asked him to mail it. He went above and beyond by driving it to me a few miles down the road.Great customer service and a really nice guy.Recommend you take your vehicle to him for your repair needs- you will not be disappointed.

Some of the most honest, friendly and helpful mechanics ive encountered. If you want or need work done on euro cars, I would highly recommend these guys. Had the notorious CEL on my VW, and after some diagnostics, the problem could have been thousands of dollars in repairs if they wanted to screw me over, but they discovered it was just a simple 3-4 inch vacuum line that got destroyed, which ended up costing me the regular rate of the diagnostic. 100% would recommend Oakmont any day of the week.

Another mechanic had done shoddy work which was rectified by Oakmont Auto Care. I felt taken care of and not ripped off like I did by the previous shop. They are also open on Saturdays. I highly recommend checking them out and promise you wont regret it.

They were very efficient, fast, friendly and fair with there pricing! When the CHECK ENGINE light came on I had them do a diagnostic test and also a visual inspection! So they could tell me if there was more then one thing wrong with my vehicle and what was priority! They came back with a rather small list considering I had been neglecting my vehicle for a while! I decided to get everything on the list done even though they told me I could wait on a couple things! The price was low enough and the peace of mind getting everything fixed was worth it! They went in early to start my car and it was finished around 11:30am quick turn around time! I also went there while I was out running erands when the light came on, had no ride home so they took the time to give me a ride home in there vehicle not mine and also picked me up when my car was ready so I didnt have to find a ride!

He was very thorough in his inspection and kind to me. I would recommend Oakmont Auto Care to anyone needing a real diagnosis for their car.
