I really should probably write two separate reviews. The quality of their product is fine. It is the follow-up service that I am rating here as a 2. My shower door was installed quite some time ago. After a bit of time I noticed that the seals were no longer longer working well and they had become somewhat discolored from the hard water in our household. I called and set up a service appointment. They ARE very responsive over the phone and did schedule my service appointment quite quickly. All I was having done was new seals and a new drip cap. I really thought in my mind that this would cost, I dont know, maybe 80 to $100? Shame on me for not asking in advance. So when the technicians were leaving and they said that will be $300... I just started laughing. I mean REALLY laughing! I truly thought they were kidding. But in fact they WERENT kidding. New seals, drip cap, and two guys - one of which mostly just stood around for THE ENTIRE HOUR ... cost me several hundred dollars!!!. My recap is .....this company does a great job installing shower doors but be sure TO ASK before you have ANY service done. That is clearly where they make their money. Yikes! I will probably patronize this business again... But buyer beware. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
Eight years ago I bought my wonderful glass shower enclosure and for the past few months my seal around the glass was deteriorating which is normal. I called the Chapman company to come and replace it and the manager set me up with an appointment very efficiently within days.....I love the service and that they did a great job on the seal. Its like a brand new shower door now. Thank you
Called on a Friday and got a vm. Call was promptly returned but I missed it. Caller stated he would call back on Saturday at 10 am, but in the meantime, could I send photos to help assess the situation?I complied and no call arrived on Saturday. Followed up on Monday and company claimed email was not received, asked to resend it.Resent file and set a time to get estimate for following day. An hour before scheduled appointment, received a call stating that due to scheduling, could not arrive at original time, could we push by an hour? Unfortunately, I was not available during that hour and offered two other slots.Company then asked to do it on weekend, so now we are a week from original call. At this point, I just cancelled altogether.I understand that schedules change, especially while installing showers, and this is a fluid situation. The rating is due to the fact that I didnt feel at any point of this process that the company was especially vested or interested in my business. Perhaps if I had a bigger, more expensive project, things might have been different.Very disappointed w/ experience here. Could be great for others -- looks like most others have had great experiences here, which is why I called in the first place.
Made an appointment for someone to look at our shower door for 9 am. No one showed up at 9. I called at 9:20 and the guy who answered said he’s not sure why no one showed up and he wasn’t in the store to know why. He asked to reschedule but I don’t think I can trust that this won’t happen again. Not a good first impression if they want our business. Won’t recommend and i don’t appreciate that they can’t respect people’s times.
Overall, my experience with John was pretty good. He showed up on time to our scheduled appointment. Took measurements and provided a price. I never haggled on the price, I was happy he could get the installation done in a pretty quick timeframe (kudos to them). Now, John told me he would do the installation, but two gentlemen I had never met before showed up and John wasnt there to supervise. I noticed when checking on the installers that the brackets they drilled into my tile walls werent level, but I thought maybe the system is setup that way. So, I waited another hour to check on the guys. The brackets have been moved and the old holes were filled with silicone caulk. Now, heres where the experience turns south...The installers never pointed this out to me, I had to find the holes myself and ask about it. When I talked to John about it over the phone, he didnt seem to really care. I spent thousands of dollars and over a month for an installer to maticuously construct a nice shower and Johns team comes in and with an hour mis-measures. He then asks, Well, what do you want me to do about it? Now, most business owners want to ensure their customers walk out of a transaction satisfied, John made no attempt to do so nor did he really seem to care about my concerns. He ultimately asks if I want a $100 of a lifetime warranty. I understand mistakes happen and the white silicone is only barely visible... so I didnt want to cost John any more money and just asked that he send me a paid receipt (I paid his full price) and a note on the receipt that says I have a lifetime warranty. I have been asking for 3 weeks now for a copy of that receipt. Today I have to drive all the way to his shop for it because he isnt returning phone calls or emails. So far, the shower door seems to be working just great.Update. I emailed their office two weeks ago to ask about replacement strips at the bottom of the door. Are there replacement strips available if something breaks? Any recommendations cleaning under them? No response. John (the owner) doesnt care about you as a client if you are a one off customer. Simple as that.
John is awesome and the price for my custom shower door was better than what I couldve gotten from a store and the quality was way better that what I found at any of the big boxes.
Great place to get a shower door professionally done. Good prices and service.
