District Cycle Works team, thank you! I left my Specialized Secteur Sport with them for repairs - a bit of an overhaul, after riding it for 4 years. Thank you for repairing the bike in such a way where I feel how great it must’ve been when it was new. Did a 50 mi climbing ride with it and it’s never felt as amazing as it did this weekend after your work. Thank you Matt and Simon for bringing life back to my fav bike.
Rebuilt a very customized build after the frame needed inspection after an incident. I didnt have the time to rebuild it myself and I wasnt sure who to trust with it. I have standards for prescision with my builds that are rarely ever met by shops. The bike came out better than when it went in. Extremely impressed and I will be back!
Great shop! Always have amazing product and insight! Thanks for showing me Astral!
Knowledgeable and invested in best ways to enhance their customers cycling experience.
So with Covid and all I wanted to get my bike brought back to safety. The gears shifters were off and there was years of neglect. These guys got my bike back to functioning. Quality work reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
Needed a rear spoke replaced on my training wheel set and came here at the suggestion of a riding buddy. They told me it would be about two days. Sure enough two days later I got an email saying it was ready. $30ish total and the wheel was as true as could be. After working in a few bike shops in college I have taken issue with the quality of the work from some shops in the area, but I will definitely be returning back to District Cycle Works based on what I saw and experienced. Top notch!
Prices are pretty standard for repair work, maybe even a little cheap considering theyre located in Georgetown, but these guys are great with customer service and quick repair work. Bike was not rideable when I brought it in and within a few hours they had it riding smoothly.
Great guys. Doing great work. Reasonable prices. They know what they are doing. Fixed my bike well. Kept it for like three weeks while I was out of town.
Good neighborhood shop; had what I needed in stock. No muss no fuss. Theyre mostly set up for repairs with 3-4 workstations. I still ride a fixie so I dont need much in the way of repairs but if I join the derailleur club this will be my spot.
We purchased my wife’s bike here. Excellent dealer! Paul was great. No pressure! Everyone was awesome! I will be purchasing my next bike from District Cycle. Great experience. I highly recommend them!
They were quick to replace my fork and true a wheel, despite a long wait for service at other shops. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for, they’re experts.
Knowledgeable, fair price, and accepts appointments. Small shop and very personable service. I am very satisfied.
Matt Moore and his crew are the best in the business, hands down. He has had the same team for quite awhile; if you know anything about bike shops, thats a miracle! They dont just understand bikes, they understand people. They have blown the curve on comprehensive information to help you make the best financial decision about bike repairs/upgrades, with zero pressure. I hope to find such great service and expertise in our new home in Italy (unlikely!).
I brought my bike into District Cycle Works to address an issue with my chain skipping on uphill climbs. While the comprehensive estimate was more than I generally pay for an entire basic tune-up, I was willing to eat the extra cost as the Google reviews were stellar and the comprehensive estimate seemed like a good investment. I called, set up an appointment, and showed up at the time agreed on by phone. So far everything was going well... staff reiterated that Id have an estimate early the next day and Id have my bike back that afternoon, so I hopped off home to look forward to a bike with a chain that no longer skipped.Fast forward to the afternoon of the next day. Having received no call on way or the other, I called the shop. Surely the shop with stellar reviews just forgot to call. Alas I was told that scheduling issues meant that my bike wouldnt even be looked at until the next week (promise one broken.) As Id already committed, I begrudgingly agreed and pushed back my plans to begin commuting by bike.Three days after my initial promised date, but consistent with the revised date offered, I received an estimate. The estimate was high, but included a number of things I felt competent to fix myself. I instructed District Cycle to fix the skipping issue (the original issue, remember) as that was my primary concern anyway.Their response? They refused. For them to do ANY work, they insisted on replacing the brake pads... for $70+. So to get the maintenance I wanted done, I had to pay for unrelated maintenance Id neither asked for nor wanted. Had they disclosed this policy of we reserve the right to force you into unrelated services you dont want up front, that would be one thing, getting hit with an undisclosed policy that prevents the work requested from being done feels a little bit like blackmail. Were the issue with the brakes inextricably intertwined with the chain issue, Id have sucked it up and authorized it. To refuse to perform the repair because of an unrelated issue, though? Ridiculous.Timeliness 3/10Technical skill 10/10Customer Service 1/10Repairs 0/10 (refused to address.)
Simply the best bicycle shop in DC. Hands down.
Staff are professional, knowledgable, smart, and very easy to talk to about bikes. These are true craftsmen—lots of pride in their work. Great customer service and communication through my repair. I took an old Trek aluminum frame road bike Ive been using as a commuter. Colin took care of its creaky cranky and walked me through everything he was doing. He was efficient but didnt overlook anything. He ended up fixing a few small things along the way. Overall Im very pleased and happy these guys are in business.
This shop has the most consistent expertise in all types of cycling that Ive ever come across. Cant recommend highly enough, theyve built up wheels for me and a custom ti road bike, and always provide excellent service.
This is a special kind of bike service shop. Not a place to merely buy a bike, but probably the best place in all of the metro DC area to have a top of the line tune up or build done from the frame. Excellent knowledgebase for elite riders and cutting edge high-performance bicycles.
Hard to find but when your there its hard to leave. Probably the most friendly and skilled mechanics in the district. They will do anything from completely costum ground up bike builds to just getting your old 10 speed working again
Great consultation, but no follow-up after several emails and calls😓. This experience might be anecdotal, but it was a very unfortunate and a waste of time.
Polite, efficient, & well priced
I had a great experience getting a bike fit with Matt. He was patient and incredibly informative with my various questions. I highly recommend his services as he has a tremendous amount of knowledge and offers a nice range of solutions.
District Cycle Works does fantastic work, focusing on service and assisting customers with new/custom builds. The small shop does not carry a stock of bikes. They have a nicely curated selection of components/accessories (bottles, cages, bells, and other similar items). The shop is a departure from the typical LBS model, and also offers much more than some of the mobile bike service companies that are around.
Gregg and Curtis both provide fantastic and quick service. Highly recommend!
Awesome bike repair shop with the most friendly staff in DC.
I have a custom built mountain bike and was having with the front gear shift. After two trips to a chain (pardon the pun) bike shop my problem was still not resolved. After reading the reviews I thought DCW would be my best bet. I arrived after work and although they were busy they took my bike right in and had me on the road again within 1/2 hour. Now obviously they cant always immediately accommodate someone but one thing I can say is that these guys are professional and know their stuff. The other bike shop had no idea what the actual problem was. I will not be taking my bike anywhere else from now.
Great and fast service had issue with the price I was charged the owner called me and explained and clarified the misunderstanding. Thank you.
Top-notch service! these guys know bikes and make sure to get the job done right :)
I cant say enough about District Cycle Works. I was referred by a friend and had an older bike upgraded with new parts. It was a very easy/enjoyable experience and I ended up learning a lot about bikes.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Hidden gem between Georgetown and Dupont Circle.
I like big bikes and i can not lie.
Matt and his staff are top notch.
Legit. Don’t go anywhere else.
