Nicely designed coffee shop if you’re looking to work remotely some people were even taking zoom calls).I got the oat milk latte and wasn’t really a fan of the coffee roast . My friend wanted a pastry but noticed two flies around it so skipped and went to the bakery next door (dog tag bakery).

Nice spot to go when looking for something a little layed back in Georgetown. I didn’t love the matcha latte, but my friends really enjoyed the avocado toast. Staff was friendly too. It’s a little bit loud, so I wouldn’t recommend it as a spot to work, but it’s a nice meet up spot with friends, especially considering that it doesn’t get quite as crowded as other spots in Georgetown tend too.

Grace Street Coffee is a quant little coffeeshop located in the heart of Georgetown, its a lovely spot to sit, work, chat and spend an afternoon.Tucked back in a quiet little alleyway away from the hustling main streets, Grace Street offers a quiet reprieve from the craziness of Georgetown. The shop is certainly busy, but not overwhelmingly so. When we went (on a Sunday afternoon) there were plenty of places to sit and we only had to wait in a short line. The location is really cool. Its connected with a local bike shop and, throughout the day, youll see cyclists coming in and out.The coffee is wonderful, some of the best that Ive had downtown. I ordered their drip and even middle of the day, it tasted fresh and was super flavorful.A couple things I didnt love:1) Parking. I dont blame GSC for this at all, but parking in Georgetown is just a pain. We ended up doing garage parking down by the river, but we learned that you can often find some temporary parking on the sidestreets closer to GSC.2) Location. We had a little trouble finding the coffee shop using Google Maps. Its not very specific and there are a bunch of signs that may lead you into some other connecting stores (theres a smoothie place and butcher), both have the GSC sign out front, but none actually have the coffee shop inside. GSC is at the end of the street.3) AC. We came to GSC on a fairly hot day, but I found that it was pretty stuffy inside the building. There was some AC, but if you werent strategically placed under a vent, it got a little uncomfortable. The outdoor seating would have been a better option.4) Shortages. This is fairly common at coffeeshops, but worth noting if youre used to Starbucks. GSC was running out of things near the end of the day. Their food was somewhat limited as were a few of their coffee options. Visiting earlier in the day is better. All in all, this is a great spot and well worth the visit when youre in Georgetown.

Cute seating. Okay beverages. Abysmal customer service. The barista (female, dark straight hair) working around 2 PM on October 8 greeted me and took the order. The Cupcake SituationI ordered a small iced latte and a chocolate cupcake to-go. The cupcake looked really appetizing with the soft looking chocolate cake and chocolate swirl icing. I couldn’t wait to try it. Towards the back of the cafe, there were two men sitting on a sofa, loudly talking while saying their goodbyes to another person leaving. The barista called off our order, so I was looking forward to trying my drink and cupcake. While picking up my order, I noticed that the cupcake was placed in a brown takeout box that you fold an insert in to close. The box was wide open. I suspect it was not closed because the box was too short for the cupcake. Who wants to ruin that pretty cupcake? Guess I have to be the one to do the deed. There were also a couple of small flies around the box and my drink, so the thought of the fly landing on the cupcake crossed my mind. Either way, that poor cupcake was either pooped on by the fly or pending disfiguration. The Honey Bottle SituationI am not a regular at this cafe, and the cupcake situation was understandable. However, after the following experience, I don’t see myself becoming a regular. My drink and cupcake were placed to right of these plastic iced drink cups and a squeeze bottle of something that could be honey syrup or honey. When I picked it up, I knew it was honey but it would be a while before I’d be able to drink it so figured it could be more dissolved later and did not want to bother the barista. Once I placed the bottle back, the barista said in a loud, demanding tone that next time I should not reach behind the bar. I had no idea I was reaching behind a bar. With the to go cups right next to my drink, I thought that was already part of a self serve area. I was very shocked by the tone, which came off very reprimanding. She (“B”for barista, and I suppose other things, too) followed on with,B: “Do you even know what that was?”Me: [still shocked that this exchange is even happening, also knowing the bottle wasn’t honey syrup which would have been more ideal] I figured it’s a sweetener.B: well, it’s honey.Bravo [insert clap emoji].We have all been living with the pandemic for more than eighteen months, and I have never been spoken to in this way at any other food/beverage establishment. Maybe I should have been more observant about the placement of items at the counter of this particular cafe, but I simply was not in that moment. I’m probably not the first customer to not be fully present in the moment - nor the last. The barista was not wearing gloves, so wouldn’t she have contacted my order in many places already? Did I miss an opportunity to reprimand her about not wearing gloves? The men on the sofa were maskless, no longer consuming any food or drink, and were speaking so loud the whole cafe can hear them for the duration of my visit up until the honey bottle situation started, but were they reprimanded in the same way I was for using a squeeze bottle for three seconds? As you’ll see from my other reviews, I rarely give a one star review, however this experience required transparency. With Blue Bottle around the corner and no shortage of other cafes with better, less overpriced cupcakes that would properly fit in a box, please choose wisely.

I was visiting DC and stopped by here to get a honey cinnamon latte yesterday morning. The barista was caught offgaurd by my order despite them advertising it on their menu. But he said that they could do it. I was excited to try their coffee.5 mins later, i was handed a pretty bad tasting latte. The barista did not mix cinammon in the latte, which is how it should be done and instead put chunks of it on top. My latte was not made with any care. These are the times i regret tipping my barista before experiencing the result.

Super stoked on this place! The espresso was absolutely on point, ballanced and full of body, weirdly nostalgic for some reason (missing the Hypnocoffee days). I also had a Sumatra that was really fun. Im generally unimpressed by Sumatran offerings, kind of a one trick pony, but this coffee really broke the mold. Very cool location tucked away just a block off M in Georgetown. Shares the space with a smoothie shop and a sandwich shop. The whole place is fun, chill, and most importantly, has quality product. First choice for coffee in Georgetown.

The openness of this coffee shop is lovely. The shop is bright and clean. The coffee quality is nice. I ordered an espresso and regular coffee to try their basics. The espresso I whose was the Tanzanian one, there is also a Kenyan one. The Tanzanian is lovely, dark and a little bitter. I wish they presented the espresso better as it was given in a glass shot glass. The staff is quick and friendly. I will comeback as it meets my needs for having good coffee, nice atmosphere and is trendy. Its only been open for two months and I can already see people coming here with laptops and chilling. I was able to find a place to sit very easily.

In a past life, I worked with celebrities. It was always the lesser known celebrities that had chips on their shoulders, never the ones who actually made it. Grace Street Coffee is a lesser known celebrity in the DC coffee scene. Heres my story:One day after exploring Georgetown with my wife and baby, we wanted a good cup of coffee. I had been to Grace Street once before, so we decided to pop by. Its in a small food hall with some DC legends like Sundevich. As you walk up the stairs into the food hall, Grace Street Coffee welcomes you...well more like coldly greets you. Its perfectly hipster with its wall plants and minimalist design. And its perfectly hipster with their too cool for school staff.I ordered a latte from a sad looking staff member. She never said hi and acted as if I committed a cardinal sin for inconveniencing her day by ordering a drink. She slowly made it as I waited where she directed me to.I waited and waited and waited. Finally, she slid the latte across the counter, but in a different part of the table. I waited and waited and waited. She knew I was there and rather than telling me my latte was ready, she let me wait. Literally after ten minutes, I noticed my coffee was at the other end of the table. It was cold.Yes, it was a good latte, but the attitude it came with was not welcoming or inviting. Maybe it was a bad day and I will give them another chance, but nonetheless, thats my story.
