I discovered Residents about 6 months ago and its easily one of my favourite places to grab the brunch. The variety of dishes on the menu, mean there is something for everyone. The menu and cocktails change seasonally as well... So, each time Ive been, Ive had a completely new dish and they have ALL been amazing. The cocktails are all fantastic as well. The outdoor seating adds the perfect ambiance to great conversations with friends, a date or solo dinner.

We found residents from a quick search online for best cocktails, hands down the best place to have crafted cocktails. Their food is also bomb we ordered the chicken. The music is great, mostly house and ambiance is on point. Certainly a great spot!

A super cute restaurant in Washington DC that you MUST visit🙌🏻To be honest I didn’t have any expectations that meals and drinks could be good in such a “fancy” restaurant. The truth is I was so wrong and their food is not only pretty but also delicious. Moreover, the drinks are really nice. What could I say? They just nailed it! I really had a great time and certainly recommend here! You MUST come here when you travel to DC next time. You would enjoy the chill atmosphere and have wonderful drinks and meals here. However the restaurant is quite popular, so I suggest that making a reservation in advance is definitely necessary.✨One of 2021 Michelin Bib Gourmand Winners in Washington, DCMore travel & restaurant recommendations in instagram @itssuechen

You’re probably googling this place because you’re looking for the quintessential brunch spot. Can confirm - Residents Cafe was created for the gram. They serve decent drinks with the stuff people go crazy for: cool ice cubes and cute garnishes. The $21 quinoa bowl with avocado and smoked salmon did its job of making me feel healthy AND bougie. Like most trendy brunch spots, you’re overpaying because of ~vibes~.

Overall a great experience. The vibe is definitely there as it is very as it is atheistically pleasing. Don’t expect heavy plating but the food is great. I had the burger and it was perfectly cooked and delicious.I gave them a 4 star because despite having to wait almost 20 minutes before we got any drinks they still counted that towards our “90 minutes” so we felt rushed towards the end.Otherwise great experience.

The place is full of energy and happiness. Their drink menu offers a wide variety of exciting drinks, including season specials. The food menu is not that large, however the quality is up the roof. Small dishes, but everything is pretty on par as far as quality goes. Tapas style dishes with very interesting presentation. Drinks were pretty good, espresso martini was great. Apparently they add butter to the coffee and that’s why the bottom looks a little creamier and lighter than others. Atmosphere is also pretty good, good choice of music. Waiters were very funny and nice which definitely adds to the great vibe here.

Absolutely the best restaurant and experience my husband and I have ever had. Everything was perfect- the atmosphere, the music, the food, and best of all, the staff. The staff was so unbelievably kind and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and happy. Gustavo was our server and he was truly wonderful. He was so warm and friendly and made us feel like we were old friends! He recommended the espresso martini which was delicious. The hummus was also incredible and was actually the best hummus we have ever had. Impeccable service, food, and atmosphere. We would recommend this amazing restaurant to anyone and we plan on coming back here again and again- even though we live in Ohio!

I had high hopes for this place given the accolades. However, aside from the drinks, the food and service were not up to par and barely average. We visited for brunch, and the wait staff was distant and lacking in any genuine nature. My friends avocado toast was burnt on the bottom, and she basically got a workout trying to saw through the toast. I ordered a halibut fish burger that turned out to be a reconstituted patty made of fish meal instead of a filet--an interesting choice given the caliber of the restaurant. That in itself is not necessarily an immediate cause for criticism, but the texture of the fish meal was off-putting.I have to note that the drinks were creative, fresh, and not overly sweet. However, those were the only highlights of the meal.

This was the best dinner experience my wife and I have ever had, and I mean that literally. We made reservations for an upstairs room but we were so enamored by the set up outside that we requested to sit outside. A table opened up and they went out of their way to make sure we sat outside. The food and drinks were sensational, especially the hummus. The whole staff was so kind and welcoming - they made us feel at home. Gustavo talked with us at the end and treated us like old friends, but everyone was kind and attentive. We will definitely visit when we’re back in the city.

Honestly, food is not good. Too salty and just not right for my palate. Their outdoor seats are not comfy. Their flower decorations and drinks are fine which seem to be the reason for the hype anyways. Servers were nice but I was disappointed when they failed to notify that their honeycomb ice cubes ran out at the time of the order. Overall, I wouldn’t come back or recommend.

Update since my last visit, I noticed 2 things here:1. this place suffers from the same issue that many former great local spot in DC did. Hype brings more people, and servers become overwhelmed as service and your experience quality decreases accordingly.2. They remove dishes from their menu based on season, including the hyped up signature dishes that have excited people. So that in my mind could be a setback.I recommend this place for a lovely brunch and a cocktail. They seem very attentive, service is not slow per reduced capacity. The food is meticulously prepared and looks appetizing. I enjoyed their Mediterranean dishes which are prepared with nice spices and are delicious.

Great ambiance here! My friends and I came here for drinks this past Friday early evening--it was so difficult to find an available table through Resy--limited availability for outdoor patio seating, but I was able to find one after getting an alert of an open table! I highly suggested outdoor seating, thats where the cute decor is at! I was a bit disappointed they no longer had the cherry blossoms decor up, but instead had a greenery/tropical type of decor--still cute regardless.Cocktail drinks were great--well presented and tasted good! Drinks started off at least $15. The food menu seemed limited and their portions are relatively small. I really enjoyed the Filet Mignon--well flavored, very tender and the béarnaise sauce was delicious! The avocado toast was okay too.Service was good, our server was attentive and super friendly. The overall ambiance and vibe was great--seemed like a hotspot for drinks and definitely a picture worthy spot!

I probably spend too much time here, but this level of comfort and hospitality is hard to come by these days. The patio gives strong Mediterranean vibes with the palms and furnishings. My favorite part about Residents is the music, its the x factor that pushes the experience to next level, it more or less transports me to another place for the time that I am there. The mid tempo house tunes give me feelings of being at a posh resort. The food and cocktail menu are backed with amazing service from an eager staff that are just as courteous as they are attentive.Reservations are recommended because patio space is limited and I have highlighted some of my favorite dishes in pictures: watermelon salad, schnitzel and tagliatelle. If you are not dining, stop by for one of their signature espresso martinis, made with espresso that its brewed to order, they dont disappoint.

I can’t decide if I like Residents more pre-COVID or during COVID because it’s spectacular both ways.Let’s start with the ambiance. The ambiance is calming and welcoming. I’ve been struggling to find a place where I could dine outside AND have a nice, cozy environment. Oh, and especially one that’s warm-ish in this frigid winter!! Look no more. Residents has the most beautiful set up and for a split second, I felt like I was on a European vacation with friends.Next up, the drinks. Oh, boy the drinks. Let’s just say I didn’t intend on drinking but they are too delicious to pass up. I had a nonalcoholic espresso martini which was everything I needed in this world. Wish I could have one of these every morning. The Quince was the star of the show. My friends each got one, and we were not disappointed. It was a delicious blend of a whiskey sour and a hot toddy as one described it. We also had the matcha tea, glass of champagne, cranberry seasonal cocktail, and ginger seasonal cocktail - all so tasty. Now the food... oh my goodness the food!! We got the smashed avocado toast, market plate, and carbonara - added meat to all of them. I was so happy with my avocado smash but needed to have a bit from everyone’s dish. The food is sourced locally so everything tastes incredibly fresh and filled with bold tastes. My goodness, I did not expect that I’d eat so much. We even ordered the toasted pumpkin bread for dessert. For the record, I hate pumpkin everything but bc I trusted what this place was doing, I had to try it when Debbie (best server ever) brought it out. Let’s just say no crumbs were left behind. And finally, my experience would have been great but it was elevated by both Debbie and Moody. Two genuine people who truly enjoy their job. Both so personable, filled with wittiness and kindness. If you get them as your servers, please take care of them - I promise they’ll go above and beyond for you!

What a weird, almost horrible dinning experience. Our server Moody really saved the day here which is why we’re at 3 stars. We made reservations for 8PM and arrived a few minutes early. We notified the host upon arrival and watched 3 or 4 groups get seated before we were finally seated at around 8:20. Maybe they had reservations as well, IDK but there seemed to be some tables open during our wait.We ordered everything at once, apps, drinks and entrees and was delighted the apps came out within 10 minutes, so far so good... another 30 minutes go by, our server Moody who was awesome, suggest more drinks we oblige but still not entrees. Another 30 minutes go by still no entrees, more drink suggestions we declined. I literally walk to Shack Shack down the street to get food after waiting around 1:15 minutes between our apps and entrees. To clarify one of those entrees was a salad!!! I honestly was starving which is why I left and came back to find out entrees, which by the way are tiny portions and over priced. Our server credited a couple drinks and really tried his best to make it make sense. Ultimately we made reservations for 8PM for seated at 8:20, apps within 10 minutes and entrees came out close to 10PM. If it wasn’t for our server we all would’ve grabbed the check and left.Maybe this is an isolated incident and honestly the food was flavorful. Regardless between the wait, the portions size and prices I’m not sure I’ll be stopping in again.

The Resident in DC was such a wonderful dining experience. The website made reservations easy, the atmosphere both indoors and outdoors were light and cozy. The food was delicious (I ordered the schnitzel and basque cheesecake) the service was fantastic and the cocktails were my favorite part. I ordered the Bee, it was both visually appealing and delicious. You can tell they put great thought into everything they do and all of the items on the menu. I didn’t like having to sit by the restroom, but that’s a gamble at any restaurant. Will most likely go again and hopefully sit outside under the cherry blossom decorations!

Made a reservation for a weekday and had to wait 30 mins while a bunch of people behind us were seated. Worst was the hostess kept saying we have to wait for your entire party, then when that happened it was 5 mins then 5 mins more. I mean please be honest at least! Usual customer service is to at least offer a complimentary bread basket or something .. nothing. They don’t care! The servers and all are polite the hostess was well indifferent. A smile and politeness could go a long way.. and the worst part is if you cancel your reservation they charge you! So you better be very committed to come to this place. The food was ok, drinks were the usual and please do save money and don’t order the desserts. Overall a mediocre experience and will not be returning.

The food (I had the beef burger that came with fries) is pretty good although their menu is slightly limited. Portions are a bit small and the only soda option is Mexican Coke if that’s something important to you. Ambiance is great but the service is a little lacking. We felt slightly rushed due to their reservation time limits (you get a 2 hour time limit). Despite this, the waiter wouldn’t come back to check on us for a while. Someone else came around to ask us for our drinks order and I never received mine until I had to ask someone else maybe 30 minutes later. They are one of the few places that were accepting a reservation for our larger party of 8 people so that was a plus. They only have one, single-person bathroom as well so it can create a bit of a line but the bathroom is maintained very well. As for parking, there is a parking garage directly across from the restaurant as well as street parking nearby.

Food and drinks were fantastic. However, our service was subpar:1. When we checked in, the person at the entrance was somewhat condescending (not alarmingly so, but it rubbed us the wrong way).2. We were seated inside on the second floor at a small high table with bar chairs and although this arrangement is never an issue, my sister and I had to switch chairs because she was afraid she would fall as her chair was extremely wobbly and difficult to sit in (mine was less wobbly, but did provide more stability). After switching, I almost lost my balance several times and wouldve fallen into the table if I had not gripped the edge of the table for support.3. Our waitress, although friendly, was inattentive--she walked by several times without greeting us when we were first seated. We were waiting for extended periods of time to order our appetizers and our meals while she assisted other patrons around us.Overall, I would return for the food and drinks, but service is not of the same quality. Next time, Ill be booking for outdoor seating (when it cools down) and would advise against sitting upstairs unless youre only having drinks and/or an appetizer (table was barely large enough to fit 2 meals, 2 purses [as there was nowhere to set our bags], and drinks).

I had such high hopes for Residents given its reviews and definitely left disappointed. I would give 3.5 stars if possible. Overall the food was just fine, but my biggest issue was with the portions. I left hungry. When you pay $10-$13 a dish, you expect more than 3 tiny croquettes and 2 zucchini fritters. In comparison, you could order dishes for the same price with 4x the portion at places like Albi, Chloe, or Maydan. The saving grace were the drinks. Truly some of the best tasting and balanced drinks Ive ever had in DC. Amazing! So TL;DR go for dessert and drinks. Save your dinner coins for more generous and flavorful places.

They brought me the (lettuce bun) burger with fries covering part of the burger and I reminded them I had asked for no fries. The waiter said the chef probably put them anyway because they are gluten free. So I said ok, but he came back a minute later and asked if I actually had a true allergy. When I said yes he said he would change it, but when they brought back my burger, it was obviously the same one that sill had some of the crumbs from the fries on it. I also asked for a a hot tea after my meal, which he never brought, just brought the bill. Still, I loved the cocktails and ambiance, and Im sure it would be great for someone without food allergies.

Once we arrived, we were seated at a table inside, right next to the speakers, in a walkway with no ambiance whatsoever. When asking about the possibility to move to another table, was given a firm no by the host, without an explanation which felt very cold and rude. Ended up ordering the seasonal cocktail, which looked completely different than the photos online, which was disappointing as well. We ended up leaving 20 minutes later after a round of drinks, and do not plan to come back. Not the best anniversary experience and the hosts and server were not very warm and made us feel like we were intruders and not dinner guests.

Overall, I really liked it, but I did feel the sharp/sourness of the labneh was a bit too sharp. Additionally, I felt that there was too much salt on it. If the sharp/sourness and salt were decreased a bit, this dish would be absolutely perfect. I also had the basque cheese cake. To be honest, I wasnt too impressed by it. I wouldnt order it again. What a beautiful addition to the neighborhood, chic and tasteful, both on the outside and inside! I really love the healthy and savory options on the menu, and the staff was super attentive and accommodating. I cant wait to come back for more!

Cocktails were great but the ambiance felt very fake and overdone. Made for Instagram. Just fries took about 30 minutes to come out. Three drinks and one appetizer was $60.

Very average food and drinks. It looks very pretty but really over priced.

Seriously one of the best meals I have ever eaten, no exaggeration, and I think my girlfriend liked it even more than me.We had the mini gyros, the avocado toast thing, and the grilled octopus. All 3 were outstanding. And make sure to get the cheesecake dessert.Oh, and it was delivered to our hotel room. Well done! I can’t wait to eat here again!

Im literally here right now and I cant believe how great this place is! I had to review before I finished my appetizers! The Elder Flower Spritz is BOMB (even though I opted for Kettle because I dont like Gin). The mini Gyros are amazing! The Burger looks delicious (Im attacking that next) and the ambiance is beautiful! Wendy, my server, is knowledgeable and very sweet. Kudos to the owners who, like me, decided to build their own brand after spending years in the industry!Update: Best burger EVER!

The greatest addition to DuPont Circle and everything that was missing before. Residents is the one stop shop for everything you could ever need! From a Hot latte to get your day started in the winter to a refreshing cold cocktail and dinner on the ever so dreamy patio in the summer time. The staff, the food, the service, and the experience to name a few — are what have made my trips to Residents a weekly, even sometimes daily thing! 10/10 recommend Residents, also if you’ve never tried an Espresso Martini the ones here will change your life !!

Lots to love about Residents, from the daytime cafe to top notch craft cocktails at night, a beautiful layout and design, and some of the best and most eclectic music in DC. To say it’s the best offering in Dupont, from open to close, is an understatement.

Great music, great north African food and cocktails! Music makes this place unique, after all, an owner is a dj himself!
