This will be my new mechanic. I originally brought my car to Hunter Automotive which charged me almost 150$ to diagnose and quote me over 1400$ to fix some AC issues that I had. Andy worked with me and gave me an honest breakdown of the labor on my Nissan Sentra, the exact cost of the parts, etc. They called me and even offered me to do part of the job for 300$ and hold off on the other part because of the labor required. I decided to get it done, and then they called AND LOWERED THE PRICE 100$ because they found a easier way to install the part.This is unheard of in my experience with auto shops. Andy is refreshingly honest. His customer service is unmatched. Their prices were great. They are legitimate and truthful. The mechanics do excellent work. This is without question, the best experience I have ever had at any mechanic.We are bringing my wifes car next week, and my mom wants to bring her car to them now as well. This is how you run a business and build a loyal, lifelong customer base. Some mechanics get quick, easy money through predatory practices or outright dishonesty, but you dont return to them. Car: 2014 Hyundai EquusProblem: Alternator failureEvery Hyundai/Genesis dealership was booked for months, and other dealerships didnt even want to work on my car because there were no qualified Hyundai techs ( What? Its literally just an alternator.) who wanted to work on an Equus. All I needed was my alternator replaced.After being on the phone with Watauga Automotive, I was booked 2 days later and had my car ready to go the next day. They even accepted my extended warranty (Route 66 EasyStreet). I didnt even have to speak to my warranty provider, they did all the work. I spoke to one man named Andy, who handled everything. All I did, was drop off my car, and pick it up. No headaches.Its nice to know that I dont have to take my car to a dealership anymore. Ill be taking my Equus here in the future from now on.

Since moving to Texas i have had the worst luck finding a mechanic to take care of all my vehicles. Either no one wants to do the work or they are going to charge me 2 arms and a leg. I happened upon Watauga Automotive and started reading the reviews. I said lets try them. I had an issue with the gear shifter and JD tracked down the part had it ordered and called me when it arrived so i could bring the truck back in. They promised it would only take a few hours when we set everything up. They stood by that promise i dropped my truck off at 8am and it was done before lunch. They didnt even charge an arm. The rates are extremely reasonable and i am so appreciative. They now have the business of all my vehicles.

I called and talked to Andy and he said if he could get the car in fairly soon theyd get it out before closing. Explained everything (including drawing pictures!) and even pointed out things that didnt need to be done! They are extremely helpful. Had my Jeep in there in July to have the clutch replaced and they did an awesome job. Learned that due to a design flaw the hydraulic lines should have been replaced. Just got it back and they covered there work and stayed late to finish the job cause I need it back ASAP. Great group of guys. Highly recommend.

Just to put it out there I have searched for a reliable mechanic for years. One that doesnt rip you off and gets the work down right. Well I finally found one... I had to take my car in for a.c repairs, dropped the car off today. The guy running the front Andy, he was so informative, really checked it out to make an appropriate diagnosis. Kept me informed throughout the day. When another mechanic at a different shop told me the issue was something more expensive this guy was able to find the part that was not working was less expensive, got the part picked up and installed quickly. He even had the part on the counter to show me. This shop has been the FIRST place i have found that doesnt want you to spend all your money. As a single mom I gotta be careful about this and well I have found my new car shop home. If you need good reliable affordable people to work on your car go to watauga automotive. They are amazing!

JD (the owner) is one of the most honest and trustworthy mechanics Ive ever knownFriendly, courteous, and upfront about any mechanical issues.I had the door lock cylinder fall out and inside the door. They were able to fix it within a couple of hours along with an oil change, filter and fluid check for less than $100.

JD was very upfront and honest about my mechanical issue. He even called GM to see what they would be willing to do for me (through the dealership) since my car is new. He was willing to send me elsewhere to save me money.Stellar service in my book. I will come back here for any other needs.

Went in for a state inspection, but forgot insurance card. They stayed open a little late to give me a chance to get it, and completed the inspection quickly. The mechanic and other staff were both very courteous and helpful.

I started bringing our vehicles here about a year ago, and Watauga Automotive is now the only shop we use for repairs. JD and the crew are always friendly, accommodating, and incredibly quick. Most importantly, I’ve never experienced sticker shock when I got the bill (if anything, I’m shocked that it’s routinely $200-$300 less expensive than I was expecting). They seem to do a good job of getting to the root of problems and of avoiding unnecessary repairs, which means I save money and they repeatedly earn my trust and respect. As someone who has had major problems with other shops in the past, I very highly recommend Watauga Automotive (and often have to my friends and family).

Andy was great helping my son get his car repaired to pass Texas inspection.My son moved to TX from IL, we had not needed to have an inspection done to liscense cars. He initially went to a chain repair shop and was quoted an extreme price so i contacted my automotive repair shop in IL, he referred us to a auto care repairman and found Andy on Yelp. The reviews are accurate Andy was awesome! He charged $1,200 less than the chain repair shop and the car passed inspection! Very reasonable and knowledgeable highly recommend. Won’t go anywhere else. My son will be a customer for life!

Andy is an great mechanic. He will work with you and not try to charge more or have you get work done you dont need. Will be doing all my car work here.-ADDED COMMENT-Just want to say how great Andy is. One of the best mechanics out there. Has great prices and quality work. Not only will he fix what is wrong with the vehicles, he goes out of his way to do some research to give you all the info needed about a repair and WILL NOT charge you for something that is not needed or for something that has been recalled.

Ive taken all of my cars here since finding it a couple years ago. Just recently I took my car in for transmission issues, potentially a huge bill for services rendered. JD told me he couldnt really find anything wrong with it mechanically and declined to charge me anything. He did suggest upgrading the software that controls the shifting and I am going to do that. They could have very well gotten me for a ton of scratch, as I imagine the Ford dealership would have.

My A/C compressor was replaced by Watauga Automotive last summer. This summer, the A/C went out again and it turned out to be the compressor. Watauga Automotive found out I had just a few days left on the warranty. They were quick to get me in and to replace the part before the warranty ran out. They really treated me right on the warranty replacement and did a great job.

Fixed my car without the stereotypical laundry list of issues that also needed to be addressed. Work was done on time, on quoted price, and done well.

They were extremely helpful and took care of me.

They wanted 3800.00 to replace a head gasket. I put in a can of 30.00 Bars Leaks from OReilly ...no head gasket leak engine light vwent out! That option was never offered. This a remove and replace the part type of shop. Alternate ways to actually fix things if available will not be offered here.

Dont waste your time with other mechanics. This shop will get you and your vehicle taken care of.

On my second visit- the owner got me in quick and was extremely honest. This is second time hes diagnosed a problem, called the dealership, and determined if part under warranty. He clearly explained the problem and explained that I may be able to get work done under warranty if I spoke to Chevy 800#. He explained that a typical service manager cant make the warranty call bc its a complicated issue. Both times I have been able to get work done through dealership at minimal cost bc of his efforts. He could have easily taken my money and sent me in my way. Integrity is unquestionably amazing.

Both process cost me more money than I could afford but I managed and now looking back I know God directed me to this place. I know cause Im poor and my vehicle is still running TOP NOTCH! ITS BEEN 4 YEARS. All Ive had to worry with is a engine light many others could not or would not fix. JD fived it cheap. My a/c broke and he could not fix he told me up front. Thats not his fault. I put about 3 cans freon every summer but my car is still running. You calling him a crook NO WAY! He is the best mechanic in Texas maybe the USA! GROW UP!

They have helped me to break payments down into two or three when major repairs were needed and I couldnt afford to take care of it in one shot. And there it was, Watauga Automative, reviews by Yelp Elites (plural hello!), and each review was a reputable and personal review referencing the owner by name. I skipped everything else, and called JD.Upon walking in, its just another mechanic facility. But then youre greeted by JDs bright and cheery wife sitting at the counter. What a change! And as she was taking down the information on my vehicle, including chief complaint, JD came in and listened in, oh yes, youre the one who just called. Me and my jalopy are memorable already? Thats my kinda place.As I waited for my ride, I chatted with JDs wife (sorry, I didnt catch her name), and a couple customers in the waiting room. The customers kept talking about how theyve come here for years, and that JD is the best mechanic around. Being new to the area, I took it for gospel. Prior to that, Id never met any happy customers when with a mechanic. I mean come on. What are we all typically thinking about? We deep in thought, mulling on the fact that we are about to hemorrhage everything in our bank accounts. Has it ever been a good news story when the mechanic calls? Uh, not really.Ill admit, my husband wanted to do the work himself, so he wasnt happy that I took the car in, but when we got the final bill after tons of work was done, even my husband was a fan. Pricing was right (definitely not horrific), and JD is honest. He wasnt suggesting unnecessary work, or taking advantage of the fact that yet another mechanically spastic female was standing in front of him, not even knowing if what hes saying is mechanic lingo or total balderdash.So kudos to Watauga Automotive, for running a truly reputable automotive repair facility. They are crooks I when 3 week for ac problem and the said it was $25 to check the ac compressor . When they check everything it turn out to be a leak in the high side hose, so I told them to replace it and recharge the ac system with freon so the total was $329 and some change with 3 months guarantee now after 3 weeks there is no freon in the ac system and they tell me the ac compressor is bad, should of told me from the beginning that the ac compressor was bad .This is a dishonest shop the worst crooks ...got a 1 star because their was no less...
