I went in unsure of which machine I wanted to buy. They showed me three different machines and let me try them to see how they worked! They explained the differences of how the machines were used, too, and were very knowledgeable. I walked out confident and excited with my purchase. Just finished my first project on my new machine! Would highly recommend!

I have been a customer for over ten years. The classes are well taught. The fabric is a bit expensive, but it is heirloom quality fabric meant for quilting something that will last. Compare it to what you buy somewhere else and it is obviously superior. The ladies in the store are great about helping assemble the materials for a quilt, matching fabric and knowing where it is. The sewing machine I bought there is very useful and I have had no problem with it. Peggy, the owner, is a delightful lady who has helped me many times. She also enjoys seeing the projects I have made upon completion. She is sometimes brusque, but more often very cordial. I drive across town to visit and always will.

I have just purchased my third machine from Creative Sewing. They have been, without exception, helpful, polite, friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. I have read the other reviews and the ones with negative comments make me wonder if competitors saw an opportunity to bad mouth Creative Sewing for reasons having nothing to do with quality of service or product.

Have been experiencing cold shoulder and aloofness from owner since they were located on Knox Abbott Drive. Never understood such attitude and will have to say it is the exception to the rule among quilt shop owners. Have been in the store browsing with owner seated at a machine and she never once looked up or greeted me. This has occurred numerous times. Luv to go to Summerville or Lowell, NC. Peggy is obviously an unhappy person. Sad...

I have visited Creative Sewing Machine Center on several occasions for several years. I have always noticed that the store owner does not speak to her customers and give them a blank stare as if though they are not in the store. I also noticed how she responds to other customers as if though she does not want to be bothered. Her workers are the ones that provide quality customer service. The lady that cuts the fabric is very sweet and always willing to help. I bought a sewing machine several years ago from there. The store offers free maintenance service for one year. Even though, I went one month pass the service date, I was hoping that the owner would honor my service plan. One of the ladies asked her if I could get the machine service for free and she said no. I was fine with this. I already knew that the owner would not honor this request. After having this machine for a while, I began to have problems with it. We put the machine in the shop and the worker said it would take 30 days to get it fix because they have to order a part for it. I needed my machine right away. My husband bought me another machine from CSMC. I began to have problems with the machine two weeks after he purchased it. My husband called the store owner to let her know that I was having problems with the machine and she told him that I needed to come in for training. My husband told her that he wants to get another machine because the machine she sold him was defected. She told him that she will not be able to sell that machine to anyone else and the machines come in the store already serviced. She was very rude to him and she kept interrupting him. She told him that she will fix the machine we brought in for service that same day and we can bring the new machine in for service as well. I called her a few minutes later because I did not believe that she was rude to my husband after he bought a machine from her store. Well, I could not believe that I was talking to someone with such poor customer service. She was very rude, she will not listen, and she kept interrupting me. She told me that I needed to be trained on the machine so I can learn how to use it because all machines are different. I told her I can refer to the Instruction and Reference Guide and I have over thirty years of sewing experience and most machines operate the same way. The next morning, I took the machine to the store and demanded that they repair it or give me another machine. One of the ladies sat with me to determine what was wrong with the machine. The owner came into the room to speak with me because she knew that I was very upset. She pretended to be nice. I told her she needs to work on her customer service skills. During this process, the worker noticed that there was a nip on the bobbin plate. She asked me, Did you break a needle? I said, No. She said, Are you sure you did not break a needle? (talking to me like a child) I said, No, I did not. I felt that she was making it seem that I did not know how to use the machine so she was giving me one of their so call Sewing 101. As she went through this teachable moment, taking the machine back and forth to the service guy, it was determined that the machine had a defected bobbin plate and the owner replaced it for free. She also charged me more than I expected to service the other machine so I have to questioned if she did replace the bobbin plate for free? Two months later, I started having problems with the new machine again; the thread would not wind on the bobbin. I took the machine in the store and the nice worker looked at the machine and got the service guy to adjust the bobbin winder. The store owner displayed her usual demeanor. She pretended that she did not see me in the store even though I was under her nose. We have purchased three machines from this store. We are thinking about getting an embroidery machine. When the service time runs out, we will take our business to someone who wants it.

I called Creative Sewing Machine Center to check if they could repair my Singer sewing machine. The woman on the phone was kind, went back to the service department and checked. She informed me that yes, they could service my machine so I drove it over. Once I was at the store, however, I was informed by a older woman who seemed like it was a hassle to waddle over from her desk that in fact, no, they do not service my machine. All this was said with a sneer. She was not helpful in suggesting a place that might service my machine, and I left without so much as an apology for being misinformed when I called. I was informed that I could buy a brand new machine there instead of having my machine repaired.I was not greeted when I walked in the door and had to wander around to figure out where I should go to drop off my machine. The vibe I got was that if you are not an older white woman who is into cutesy sewing for your grandchildren, you are in the wrong place. I was really hoping for a good experience, but the customer service was appalling.

I am a professional draper and now shop manager here in town. I have used CS before and am always met with a certain amount of condescension (it may be because I look relatively young), but I have just learned to ignored it. Last time I was in there I was met with such a level of rudeness and arrogance that I have decided to do everything in my power to never go back.I originally went in to get replacement bulbs for my domestic Berninas. Well, I was sold one that does not fit my machine (though I did give the correct model number). I went back to return it and get the right one. I was told that I could not return it because we dont know if its been damaged in the interim (how about you test it in one of your machines). I was ready to just suck this up as well, because it was a university purchase anyway, but when I asked for the correct one, I was told that they dont have a way of knowing which is the right one. The owner then asked if I was even sure the bulb was out or if the machine was broken. Mind you, I have been working in professional regional theatres for the last decade so I am well aquatinted with domestic sewing machines, but on top of that I am a grown adult who knows how to tell a busted bulb.I teach about 20 students a year in a beginning sewing class and am always buying things for our shows, and I will now make this the absolute last resort when purchasing. I think this is a shame because I love Bernina products and think they have a nice selection of goods.

Im honestly surprised to read the reviews of this store. Ive been on multiple occasions and have been nothing but completely satisfied. I am a young 30-something, and often feel out of place in the quilting world, due to my age and my flare for the dramatic- such as my wild hair and piercings. There is another local quilting shop I wont even go into from the condescension I have received, but Creating Sewing Center is not that way. They are fun and positive, helpful and chatty. There is an older woman at the cutting table who I adore. I have never had a bad experience here, and although the fabric is a little more pricey than JoAnns, they offer a wide variety of designers I love, (Tula Pink, Joel Dewberry, Jane Sassaman, Amy Butler, etc.) and you get what you pay for. They also have one day a month they offer a discount on fabric by the yard (although it escapes me which day that is.) I love this store, I long for the day I can buy one of their incredible embroidery machines, and I have confidence when the time comes they will help me learn all there is to know about it.

Well, I met Peggy today who declared to me that she was the owner of this business.I went in for one thing, a metal bias tape maker tool, and I left with a very bad taste in my mouth.I have worked in retail for many years before and never in my life have I experienced such disrespectful behavior from a CSR let alone the Owner of a business. The bias tape maker was $7.99 but because I didnt want to spend more than $10 I was told I couldnt pay with my debit card. So I left and couldnt get cash so I decided to suck it up and see if they had a $2 item. Well they had a lint brush for $2.99 and I thought that was close and enough. I get to the counter and the owner glanced at me while she was sitting and had one of her employees ring up my purchase instead. Well, they wanted my last name so I gave it to them and the lady said she couldnt find me in the system and I told her that I havent made a purchase here before. She then proceeded to ask me for my phone number, and I asked her why she needed it. The lady then told me that they require a persons name, phone number, and address of a customer in order to sell items to that customer. I was shocked, and asked why and then Peggy (the owner) came over to tell me that they need it in case a customer calls in with a problem. I told her she wouldnt have to worry about that with me and I told her that Walmart doesnt require all that personal information to make a purchase there so why do you? Are you selling customer information? Peggy said they dont sell customer info and told me that she would not sell anything to me because I wouldnt give my phone number and address. Peggy then told me to go back to hobby lobby or Walmart and attempted to make me feel like her store is too good for my money.I told her that I had never heard of a retail store with such a policy and that I was surprised they were still in business with such invasive policies as they are ridiculous and inappropriate. I also asjed Peggy why she was being so rude and inappropriate towards me and she stated that I was the person who was being rude, not her. I guess I should have dressed like I had tons of money and been willing to give her my phone number and address then she probably wouldve welcomed me with open arms. I certainly wont be going back there and certainly dont want to pay high prices especially since I met Peggy. Dont worry Peggy, I wont spend my money in ur overpriced store. As I said as I walked out of your store, good luck staying in business....youre going to need it.Update: I am so glad I didnt buy a bias tape maker for $7.99 from Peggy at CSMC, I found a set of 4 different sizes of bias tape makers for $4.84 online! And only $5.96 shipping cost! Thank you Etsy for always coming through for me AND I just love the excellent customer service Etsy always gives me!
