Produce is pricey but great meat counter, friendly staff, lots of selection of everything.

Its worth trying if free time is available.

Mostly everyone is always friendly. The store is always clean and organized, and I really enjoy the meat counter here. Its the only place I will buy meat from.

This family store had an 12 year arrested and charged for stealing battery ($5). the parents tried to pay for them. The store measured looked over at the family and said no we want to press charges. The kid never left the store. We all need to protect our youth, educate our youth. Help our youth. They the future. On this note I will not shop at this store ever again. PROTECT OUR YOUTH

Had great service here a few weeks ago. I overspent and needed to take items off and I experienced some of the the best customer service I have ever received. The new Assistant Manager opened up a lane just to help me and said I could pick item by item what I wanted to purchase and waited without rushing me. It was very sweet and that is how you win a life long customer, service like he provided.

Great prices and quality on meat and canned items. They have all items just the same as supermarkets. Carry out always. Never open on Sundays.

I dont care which fairway you walk into they are clean their food is fresh and the prices arent that bad for what youre getting

I have never been to a Fareway with such unhelpful employees. Ive had to push my own cart out numerous times. If it was busy I could understand, but two employees standing by the exit door just watched me. The meat counter guy who always very rude and acted like I was bothering him. I will be changing Fareways.

I enjoy shopping here. Staff is friendly... its your grandparents piggly-wiggly with the right amount of youth.(I wear a mask even though Im fully vaccinated because I enjoy the looks people give me by wearing one, like I posses the powers of the plague. Were still living in a pandemic and those who choose to wear a mask shouldnt feel outcasted due to a virus that forced us all to be afraid and segregate.)

I got to the store in West Des Moines earlier than the store opened. An obvious employee (tall kid, redhead) was walking by and I said, Not open yet?His response, Nope. I said, another 10 mins? His response, “ I guess.” Real smug and acting to cool to be just plain polite. If you’re on the property you’re representing your employer, I don’t care if he was clocked in or not. What a piece of work.👎👎👎

Went to this grocery to get food and the guy in the meat counter was not so friendly. Did not even want to wait on me. Saw me standing and waiting he just moved on to someone else and acted like I was not there. I do not know why customer service is so hard to do. If it was not for customers u wouldn’t have business! The staff needs some training on customer services except for the guy who takes your groceries out to your car.😡

My daughter who is African American applied for a job at the faraway on grand ave in wdm. . I’m sad to say she was given the run around for 2 weeks. It’s very sad when they are advertising that they are hiring. I shop there often and have never seen anyone of color employed there. I will no longer give them my business. In a community as diverse as valley junction you would think you would see black children working there. My daughter is a great kid graduating 1 year early. Why wasn’t

Always bias, worked at a fareway. Treated me fare, and with respect. A good first job and pretty low prices on products. I will say the cheapest Ive seen has been aldis but fareway is a good quality alternative.

Great grocery store. This one is newer, but still feels like a Fareway and doesnt overwhelm you with BS. Just good, down home grocey shopping experiences. I appreciate them walking me out to my car, but I always turn them down and carry my bags out by myself on my arms. Even if there are 17 bags. I still do it. I saw somewhere that you could use a carabiner to hold them all, but I just use my elbow joint and my wrist joint. It causes pain and imflammation sometimes, but I can normally take Aleve and its better by the next day. Anyhow. Enjoy.

Gateway on grand ave in West Des Moines is the best place to shop. Always fast friendly service and always clean.

We enjoy shopping there, they have some of the best cuts of meats in town. And they have very helpful and nice people working there.

I want to thank Fareway for their great drive up shopping service. I am 81 and have used their telephone shopping twice and each time Kirk has been so great at selecting and delivering my groceries to my car. He is very friendly, cheerful and efficient. All I can say is that Fareway has one great employee in Kirk.

Hands down the best grocery store in Des Moines. One the newer fareways but still feels like a old time market. Customer service is amazing and the meat is the best!!

I’ve been wanting to say thank you to the Baker or their bakery department. I hope I have the right store. I actually shop at the one in Norwalk. However from what I understand I think all the bakery goods come from this store and one of my favorite cookies is the no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies and it is always usually available at the Norwalk store so I want to tell you Thank you so very much for baking these because it saves me the time from doing them and they are just always perfect and they are awesome!! My dad loves them too so I once in a while buy them for us for a treat. So again thank you so much for baking these!! You can not find these anywhere else.

Wonderful Experience!!Recently, we ordered two meat bundles to give as Christmas presents. However, we realized we forgot to pick them up tonight, Saturday, December 23rd and store is closed tomorrow and Monday. When we called after the store closed tonight, (9:15)the produce manager agreed to meet us at the front door with our packages. Thanks for so much for going above and beyond with your service. Fareway is the best place to shop for groceries. The meat counter is top notch and very friendly. Great selection, price, and you dont pay per piece. Highest quality goods and the most respectful service.

The prices are affordable. The staff is always friendly. I have never heard staff having personal conversations and continue to have them while they are you ringing you up. Employees are very helpful and helping you locate items in the store.

I have shopped at this Fareway once a week since it has opened. For the last month it has gone downhill. Two weeks ago I came in and there were no baskets to carry my items in. I dont need a whole cart because I was only grabbing 7-8 items quick. I got my items and carried them all by hand. I informed the cashier of this and she looked over and resumed checking me out. Last week when I came in there were no baskets again. I took one of the smaller carts this time because I couldnt carry all my items in my arms. I checked out and the cashier bagged up my items and placed them in the cart. Nobody offered to bring them out. I ended up taking the cart to my car and loaded them myself. Its not a big deal but you dont have a cart corral. I had to walk the cart back into the store. Tonight I came on Tuesday instead of Monday and there were finally baskets so I could use one. Unfortunately you were out of party size Doritos bags. Normally you have roughly 10 bags on the shelf. It was completely empty. I asked a woman who was stocking shelves in the isle if you were out and she confirmed it. How are you out of Doritos? The last 3 weeks havent been good, hopefully next week is better otherwise I will be shopping elsewhere.

Of course the meat counter! Excellent selection and service. All employees are focused on service and eager to help. The size of the stores are perfect. Small enough to quickly navigate without sacrifice selection.

Fast check out. Carry most essential items. In and out in no time. Staff are reachable. Price is reasonable.

Love this Fareway. The location is great for easy in/out of the parking lot. NIce wide aisles. Bakery has wonderful cakes and extremely helpful staff. Checkout lanes are usually available without a long wait as they will call for extra help if just one or two people are waiting.

Loved the organic foods. Even brands I hadnt heard of. Prices were good and some were even on sale. Only downfall was not enough organic vegetables, but what was there were good. I definitely will shop there again.

Great prices with a decent selection of food. I love how they have a meat counter when not many grocery stores do anymore. They even wheel your cart out to your car and help you load. Its my favorite grocery store. I dont go anywhere else.

I think Fareway has the best meat. I wish the meat cutters would let you watch the way they cut the meat. But you cant because of the table they are cutting on. How disappointing. Fareway should take pride of their meat cutters. Its almost like there hiding something....

My second favorite Fareway! Meat market that can’t be beat. Excellent produce department, which isn’t always Fareway’s strong suit. Love the convenience of the bakery, even if allergies prevent me from eating items I take to events. Love the cashiers, and all the employees. Love the parking at most Fareway’s as well, it is designed much more convenient then Hy-er priced places. The pricing in the allergy friendly section and special requests for items is excellent, best in town. Honestly, I have lived all over the globe and the US, and I have never lived anywhere with such excellent prices throughout the store and incredible meats.

This store is so frustrating. Easily 50% of the time they have no half and half to sell on Friday afternoons. Im always told the same thing. Come back on Saturday morning and we will have some. Im not driving all the way back to that store for half and half. How difficult would be be for the dairy manager of the store to simply make a bigger order? Im sure they will be asked many times between 2PM and 9PM for half and half. Maybe they should run to Hy-Vee and see if they could buy some from them.

One thing I dont like about Fareway is that the customer does not have the option to take out their own groceries to the car. Even though it is more convenient, I feel obligated to tip and most times I dont have any cash on me so I end up feeling just horrible for not doing so.
