Not what I remember as a child, as with most things not much is. 3 people working. When asking a question I was given a sour face and a finger point to get me out of her hair as quickly as possible. The gentleman working another counter was very helpful. When checking out, not sure if the lady said but 2 words, she seemed upset I was not buying more. I told her to have a good day and silence in return.

Not what I remember. This place has just cheaply made outfits. They’re selling Native American regalia and other offensive costumes. It also smelled really bad in there.

Selection availability is high but focuses on cheap, single-use costumes & accessories. Great for kids

1st time in here. Lots and lots of costumes, dance stuff, all kinds of theatrical, dress up type of things. Very nice woman helped us and was much appreciated.

Employees are helpful without being overwhelming. I wasnt expecting much if a selection for costumes, especially plus sized ones but there is quite a few choices... much better than the bigger Halloween stores!

Located in Historic Valley Junction, the store is unique and easy to find with a big lit-up movie sign that shows Now Playing videos on theater fronts, but made it as part of their store.When you walk in you see lots of ballerina items, I didnt know they sell stuff for dance. You walk down some stairs into a big room with all the costumes, accessories, masks, and wigs. They have Ben Nye makeup which is from what I understand very good makeup for theatrics. Everyone that worked there was very nice even while it was jam-packed busy.Kate helped us pick out makeup and how much we needed. She was very knowledgeable and very helpful.You can also rent costumes there. Our costumes were reasonably priced and there are no returns, but you can exchanged unused and unopened product for other items in the store.Costumes were a little hard to shop through and its a little small between aisles. Be sure to look behind the costumes that are on a hanger because there are several different ones in the same section. They have the costumes organized by theme AND you can try them on to make sure they fit.Overall, I had a great experience in this store.

One of the girls working there was friendly & helpful . But the other one followed me around like I was gonna steal or something!?? I didnt appreciate that!!! It was rude, disrespectful, and completely uncalled for! I love their selection of merchandise but being treated like a criminal makes me not want to go there again!

This is one of my favorite places on Earth. A wide and wild selection of costumes and accessories, including nearly everything you can possibly think of for a party, Halloween or just some casual cosplay. They provide costume rental as well as purchase, their staff is always been polite and willing to help me out. I have nothing but good things to say about this group 😁

I have no complaints. Very friendly. They helped to size tap and ballet shoes for our child. Good prices. Quick service. The pluses go on and on.

This theatrical store offers a wide array of costumes including outfits and masks. The lower floor is very crowded with merchandise, the isles are hard to navigate if you are of the larger variety. There was good help from the staff there when I was looking for something very particular and were very nice people all around. I wish they would update their checkout system as to make it go faster as this process took quite awhile because they add up and do the tax all on a calculator. All around good experience and will come back again.

Great place for costumes year round. Rent plenty in advance from the extensive selection or just buy. They also carry dance outfits.

I love the small town atmosphere you have in Valley Junction. We stop into the Theatrical Shop every year. Very unique costumes. And a huge selection.

Great place to pick up your general special effects make up and needs. Lots of costumes and great outfits for theater and Halloween! Farmers market is on Thursday and the stay open later and give a discount. Fun place to look and go check out Rubies around the corner for more lighting and sales.

The Theatrical Shop has been a staple of Des Moines for a long time. Great employees and great service. The costume rentals are cheap but the quality is not. They even gave me an extra day on my rental for no extra charge!

Great little small town feel in Valley Junction. Prices are in line with other shops around town. Selection for 2 year olds is slim but still great stuff and service!

Went in to rent a renaissance costume. Acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. Pulled out 2 costumes. Acted disinterested in helping me. I left. Not impressed by this place!

Halloween, birthday, friendsgiving, cosplay or whatever the reason they have the suit, costume you need! Well unless your going to just use your birthday suit that is 😎, but even then they have some killer excesories. So 5 stars for sure go check it out you wont be sorry. You can thank me later. The owner is extremely disrespectful to anyone she comes in contact with. I’ve spoken with three other people who have interacted directly with her. I honestly don’t know how they’ve stayed in business with her. Their technology is completely out of date, along with their approach to customer service (or complete disregard for). I’ll never spend a penny here!

What an amazing store! If you have a party or a child that wants to play dress up then head to the store. We bought Construction hats for $1 each for 8 people and my 3 year old loved that everyone had a hard hat at his construction party.
