This little grocery located in Valley Junction contains many treasured favorites. I love to go in for their homemade tamales and their chorizo. The service is helpful and friendly. Shop local when possible!

Love this small local Mexican Grocery store that has take out. They carry all the Mexican products I use. I love their authentic green salsa and their tacos de carne asada. The staff is welcoming and helpful.

This little shop is amazing. They have such a great variety of authentic snacks, cleaning supplies, drinks, and much more. Also the store workers are so friendly.

The Tomales here are the BOMB!! As well as all of the other foods that come out of that kitchen!! Small and cozy store, the folks are very friendly and accommodating. I have been there several times and will remain a shopper to their store for as long as it is there. I absolutely love this place!!

Love this place! They have a decent collection of Mexican groceries but the kicker for me is the authentic Mexican carryout they offer. Best $2 tacos ever!

I live down the road from La Michoacana and frequent the store. Theyre a family owned and run establishment whose owner and family is always friendly and courteous. Whether its meats or veggies the food is always fresh. Folks can smell the fresh meats cooking down 5th street, and across the street at the Post Office. The tacos are top notch, and the burritos are something special, especially the carnitas. Menu items are super fresh, the salsa compliments the food in zesty heat, and the pickled veggies compliment orders where theyre a side. Walk the Valley Junction Farmers Market, and make sure to stop at La Michoacana as it rivals any of food in the market in quality and taste.

BUYER BEWARE !Bought a jaritos soda that was flat, brought back to tell the owner Jesus. instead of offering a new soda Jesue argues that brand of soda doesnt have bubbles like Pepsi or coke products... lies lies lies, Ive sold this same exact product before WITH bubbles the soda was obviously expired. Jesus returns my money and continues to argue the pop doesnt have bubbles and ignores me .

Omg. I have dreams about the tacos here. The carne asada and carnitas are both delicious and simple. This place is very consistent in offering good food and the owner is always offering me new things to try. There is not anywhere to sit down inside the market to eat them, but the package them up nicely and also offer catering and to-go meat by the pound cooked and uncooked. The owners are very kind and willing to answer all kinds of questions and they cook the food quickly and fresh every time. Oh, almost forgot...the tamales are delicious too!

Just tried their food for the first time today....absolutely delicious (tacos). If these arent authentic then I dont know what is because I can guarantee 95% of white people in Des Moines have never even see a taco like this...lets change that - give La Michuacana a try! Im heading back real soon to try all their lunch items!The place doesnt quite look as if it serves lunch food (carry out), but just head on to the small back counter and start some convo. The guy who I talked with (Jesus) is a super friendly business owner who is more than willing to satisfy his customers. They have BBQ Meats which look unbelievable. A lot of good spices going on.

Hhusband had to ask. 4 times NO cilantro on tacos. All the tacos had cilantro. Seems to be a language barrier.the chorizo was burnt. Wont be back. Threw away tacos and chicaronies. I cant eat cilantro. The chicaronies were terrible.
