After 20 years we decided to replace our kitchen appliances and in doing so we had to have new cabinets for this update. The remaining cabinets were natural cherry wood and after talking with our contractor he suggested that we have the original remaining cabinets painted to match the new ones. He had seen the work they did in another remodel he did and felt that West Hartford Finishing did a quality job. We did do some searching and contacted a couple of companies but decided that WH Finishing would do the work. They were competitively priced and George, the owner was great to work with. He matched the paint to the color of our new cabinets perfectly and our old cherry cabinets now look brand new and have a quality finish as if they just came from the cabinet factory. The workers were conscientious and did a great job, taping and covering everything to prevent paint from hitting other surfaces.The work began on a Monday and was finished on Saturday.

George and his crew are fantastic. From preliminary discussions on how to repaint our kitchen cabinets to the actual work, every thing was top notch. We cant be more pleased with the results. They took our wood cabinets and painted them white with a grey island as a compliment. The work and finish are like having new cabinets installed. And they were very clean and organized. We found a couple spots for follow up and they responded quickly to fix. I highly recommend West Hartford Finishing.

Professional craftsmanship!

My home is a hundred years old so home improvements have their challenges because of settling and warping, etc. West Hartford Finishing was up to the job. My new cabinet doors and old frames painted-like-new look great. Anyone should remember that if you have any inside painting, youre in the middle of the disorder of a something like a construction site for a day or so. But its worth it!

Got several estimates to update our kitchen. Wanted new doors, drawer fronts; dove tail drawer boxes, hidden hinges, slides, all soft close and painted. Job included entire kitchen, mud room, one bath, and a bar - half of the first floor. Selected George and his team as they came across as the most knowledgeable and a good value. His crew was professional and did an immaculate job. We could have saved a bit of money going with Franklin Painting which is new to the kitchen remodeling biz but the paint was not the same factory finish that WH Finishing uses. Glad we didn’t settle. Very professional; skilled and a pleasure to do business with. Thank you George!

Unlike the other reviews done to date for this business, I cannot agree with fellow reviewers and rate five stars. Our cabinets are much better than they were and the job West Hartford Finishing did was solid. Thom, one of the finishers, has a lot of attention to detail and he single-handedly salvaged what was a very exasperating contractor experience. We have done several projects this year to date, and this experience was by far the most exhausting. It took far too many visits to complete, in large part due to the owner not being organized in terms of managing the job prior to even coming on site. It appeared as if he was more concerned with booking future jobs than to attend to the ones he had currently. A recommendation to other homeowners -- make sure you verify in writing with the owner that all materials are in prior to start date and instructions are provided to workers about the job they will be performing prior to getting on site.In response to the owners comments: The job was to be completed the week of May 10 and the final check was written June 2. While you did recommend making new boxes there were only 2 boxes that needed to be remade and only after they came back in worse shape then when they were sent out for spraying, of which they werent even going to be taken until requested. It only made sense that if we paid for the cabinets to be sprayed, inside that the drawer boxes would be too, but in any event, an additional cost was incurred for that to which we paid. Regarding the new boxes, you requested on Monday that we provide you measurements, we did along with drawings; these were texted Monday evening. Tuesday no response, Wednesday no response, Thursday I have to call and you talk about your worker coming out Friday. When Thom ultimately came out Saturday morning he had to measure for the boxes! Why did we do this work if you were never going to use them? I dont blame Thom for the debacle.My comments with regard to the volume of business West Hartford Finishing has came from one of your workers. The fact is the job was started without all the materials, the primary worker did not know ahead of time that oak cabinets were on the premises and that epoxy would be needed, and there was a delay in getting the paint for the cabinets because the usual person was on vacation. The wrong hardware was initially brought out and you wanted to finish the job without hardware on the doors and drawers but then managed to locate the hardware. When we had to wait for another door and drawer to be ordered (because somehow the company messed up and supposedly you account for the inventory for each customer), it should not take more than a week to get in materials if it was the companys fault. The remaining door and drawer were installed May 29.We insisted Thom finish the job because your other primary worker was loud and using profanity outside our house so the neighbors could hear. Unprofessional.

George helped me when the granite company didn’t follow through on their job. He was there when I needed him and his workers did a beautiful beautiful job on our cabinets.

We got our cabinets refinished and painted last year by West Hartford and at first I was satisfied and somewhat happy with most of the final product. After the completion we start to realize some things that were not done properly and as well as missed or just skipped. Once I brought it to the owners attention he became very defensive and tried to brush it off and blame others for the mistakes. Our finish started to fail and crack as well as the panels on out cabinets were damaged due to their work. George quickly became defensive and tried to blame me and my family for it. All we wanted was for the problems to be correct instead we got a bunch of unprofessional behavior and grotesque language by the owner.. the whole situation quickly changed for the worst and I am shocked how there was no sense of responsibility or acknowledging the mistakes. I would never refer them to anyone and I told a few friends who I bot use them because of the owners behavior towards others and how he treats people..

I normally dont write reviews but I had to let everyone know how happy and pleased I am with George and his son. They both worked on our kitchen and I cant be happier. George was professional, on time, good quality work and made the entire process very smooth. I will highly recommend him to anyone trying to do Kitchen cabinets.

George and Tom renovated our kitchen. The project included all new doors, new drawer fronts, new soft close hinges and slides, a few new custom cabinets, and a redo of the island. G&F Marble, Granite and Tile in Farmington did the counters and tile work. Overall the project was a great success and a very significant value vs. replacing with new. If you are considering a kitchen project, give George a call.

George did an excellent and efficient job redoing our kitchen. From day one he went out of his way to meet with me ASAP to get doors on order before I headed out on a trip. All said and done, he did great work and was honest and communicative on the project status. Will definitely be using again for our next kitchen renovation!

Absolutely superb! I am extremely selective in giving such high praise but George and his crew were simply outstanding. I had cabinets in both my kitchen and bathroom painted. They look like brand new cabinets. I had 6 groups of painters come into my home recently pricing rooms that I now need painted and they all simply stopped, touched, and stared at the cabinets and told me what tremendous workmanship was done on the cabinets. However, more important is how they worked with us, their client.We were skeptical about bonding a finish to our kitchen cabinets, as we had heard about painted cabs chipping and peeling.George, took lots of time to detail the process and alleviate ALL our concerns. Promising a clean and dust free conclusion to the work... Tom and Oscar, arrived on time and began Prepping the kitchen..WOW these guys took great care to isolate the room. We were amazed with their attention to detail.. tape, cardboard over surfaces, plastic bags over our lamps.... horizontal and vertical surfaces completely covered. West Hartford Finishing painted our kitchen cabinets just over 1 year ago. We are as pleased with them today as we were then. The finish stands the test of time. I was able to choose the color I wanted and George brought a painted sample for my approval. The end result of the painting technique makes the cabinets look like new cabinets with a factory finish! This week we called George as we had a new panel made for our refrigerator that needed to be painted to match. He picked it up and returned it the same day! I highly recommend George and the crew for a professional job.

West Hartford Finishing did a great job on my kitchen cabinets, but the paint began to chip and now they look terrible. Ive tried to contact the owner to have them fixed or repainted and he does not respond. If you are looking for a temporary paint job, this company does a good job, but if you are looking for long term quality, I would advise you find a company that will stand by their work. Notice all the great reviews are within the last year. The paint doesnt last.

I have made repeated calls that, to this date, have not been returned.I feel that I have no other choice but to contact the media to seek their help in having the job completed. George and his crew did a great job on our kitchen cabinets. They stayed on the job until finished. Excellent attention to detail.

The quality of the work was excellent but the color matching to existing wood was terrible.A sample of the new wood along with the wood to be matched was provided three weeks in advance. No preparations were done on their part (they tried to match the day the work began)., After it was applied, there was no undoing it. The owner felt bad but offered little in the way of compromise. Considering how this was one of the focal points of the room, I was very disappointed in the outcome. I would not recommend them for this purpose.

Our cabinets came out like new. George was adamant that they were done right, on time, and to our satisfaction.
