This is a clean...modern..yet old school bait store.As another poster said it is right on the way to Robert moses and Captree state parks.They have a lot of stuff yet is not overwhelming.The guys running the place are professional, laid back and seemed like good folks.The bait quality was very good.I will be back.

My VS200 was service with mike in saltwater and was happy that i just have to wait 45 minutes. He is a great guy and did a good job. deal with confidence.

I buy all my gear, rods, reels, bait and lures from Mike and his crew. Buy my Van Staals there and just bought my first StormR jacket from him. They are polite, ready to help, tell you whats good and whats not. Mike is the best Van Staal repair guy I have ever seen and FAST. Hes got every part you can imagine for repair or service. Absolute stand up guys. Highly recommend you using them over any other bait and tackle shop.

Sent my original US built Van Staal in for servicing. They did a great job on the servicing and repair. I purchased the reel a few years ago and couldnt find anyone who I trusted to service it. I was referred by another shop to Saltwaters tackle. And these guys are one of the only remaining shops that has the knowledge to work on an older VS like the one I have. I will be sending my newer VS in when it requires servicing for sure. Im glad I sent them my reel all the way from FL. If Im ever in NY Im going to have to stop in and check out the stores.

Sent in a reel for service got it back.. relatively quickly.. they repackaged my UPS box as I was lacking packing paper etc... Very good service Mike and everyone knows their sh@t.. will definitely send it back after this season in the surf.

If you are first time visiting here, make sure your bait is fresh before you walk out. I got clams yesterday morning, when i got to fishing point was so disappointed, they smell bad and was so soft won’t even stay on the hook, was a bad mistake, last time at that store save your money and time stay off .

First time there. Accompanied my son for some fishing tackle. While he was walking around and getting his reel spooled I ended up speaking to proprietor who was very friendly and knowledgeable about what I was looking for. I bought my son a Penn Pursuit III saltwater comboas a graduation present. Will be back!

December 3 th 2019, 4 months ago bring my reel to them to serviceToday is March 22 2020. Not repaired but bring back to me missing parts. No handle, god know what is gears missing inside reel.Do not bring anything for repair . They will loose it . Sending to repair their friend or repair guy.They don’t take responsibility to do right things for their customer . Still waiting my reel.

Brought my Van Staal VS 150 to Salt Waters for Mike to work on because I froze the reel by reinstalling the handle cover incorrectly. Totally panicked because mine is one of the unique black reels that has turned root beer/bronze in color and would have been even more upset by my carelessness if the exterior needed to be changed. Mike was able to repair my reel while saving all of my original external components and for this I am truly appreciative. My reel was back in my possession in a few days. Great shop and super staff!

These guys are super helpful. I called with questions on a self-service of a Van Staal 100, and he pointed me in the right direction identifying a difference in the earlier Van Staal reels thats not documented in the self service kit or videos.He could have asked me to send it in, but instead he took the time to listen and give me the tip I needed.I wish I still lived on Long island and could be a frequent customer, but Im happy to write this review for them and hope it helps!

You wont find another place on the entire Island where the staff is so friendly and helpful. They have everything you need to fish. And no question you can ask them seems stupid. They are so friendly and humble, you could ask them if water is wet, and they will simply smile and say yes sir it is quite wet.

Close to home bait shop that has nearly everything I need to get a bass in my belly. Mike and Jose do an excellent job servicing the people and they can also fix the old reel you have been neglecting in the closet.
