One of my favorite places to shop in town. Every time I come I end up with another cooking utensil, bowl, or chopsticks set. I never leave without a bag of steam buns. One thing that makes Better World stand out is that they have a great variety of produce that is not found in other groceries and it is always fresh.

This is a large market for the area, with that said it’s very cluttered and disorganized. The aisles are narrow making it feel crowded and difficult to find items. Many of the items are priced higher than chain American grocery stores. Some items are cheaper, especially items like fish sauce that can be purchased in larger bottles. They have Asian vegetables than can be difficult to find. They have Asian type proteins, but they are quite expensive. I’m going to guess there are multiple fire and health code violations. Aisles and doorways are blocked, there was an open freezer no covering with food in it that had no covering, completely exposed people could just walk by and pick the food out. I’ve never seen a frozen cooler like that, nothing was labeled. They have kitchen utensils and supplies. They have a small kitchen in the back that cooks food but the menu is in Chinese only? It’s quite apparent they are not interested in American English speaking customers and want to stick with their Asian/Chinese heritage thus locking out most Americans. There were employees standing outside smoking. I’m not sure that I will return. 2 little bags of stuff was 67.00 and only 1 protein.

This is one of the most complete Asian food stores in town. They have a bit of everything and their prices are very competitive. We werent big fans of the little restaurant in the back. It seems quite popular, though, so it might be a matter of taste. Almost every dish was full of bones, which I guess makes it authentic.

This is an outstanding Chinese market. My wife is from Chongqing and she can buy all of the ingredients and fresh vegetables to prepare authentic dishes. The prices are a bit higher than the markets in Chicago but it costs money to ship all this stuff from China. Just having it available is greatly appreciated.

Pros:-You can find a lot of asian food product right here.-Convenient.-Open in most of holidays.-Popular items in other asian market will eventually appear in this shop.Cons:-They tried to save the cost since the competitor next to them shutdown 2 years ago.eg. They recently use a very thin plastic bag and it is difficult to carry heavy items.-They are increasing price over the past 4 years. For popular items, they will provide a large amount of alternative band (not the famous one).- Few cashiers are very rude (The chance is about 1/3 ). Some of them are okay.- There have nice food but generally store in employee only fridge (near the restaurant). The sliced meat for customer to buy looks this (see attached photos).

They have amazing things! Things you can get in everyday super markets is very over priced. The stuff you cant have amazing prices!I have been about 10 times and I can honestly say they arent the friendliest but you arent going there for customer service. Be warned the employees will keep walking whether you move or not. They do wear masks but when doing grocery orders personal space isnt a thing. Like I said you arent going there for customer service.

Great place for Asian products. They carry some ceramic rice bowls, Ramen bowls, chopsticks and other Asian utensils along with grocery items. They have a pretty big selection of fresh seafood and meats. A large selection of Chinese noodles and different varieties of rice. Quite a large selection of Asian snack foods from abroad and closer to home (seaweed lays, etc.) A lot of different, hard to find, Ramen flavors. This is mainly China-centric but they do have some Japanese items as well. I was able to find adzuki beans and good quality matcha for making anko mochi.

This place holds a lot of useful grocery items that students might need if they plan on making food at their own living space. It is one of the very few grocery store on campus so I go here pretty often to purchase my items. They sell a lot of international items that are not too over priced, and their vegetables are relatively fresh. Definitely check out the snack and ramen section because there are so many things worth trying!

Terrible cashier. Stop playing you cellphone while there are tons of people waiting. I asked the cashier nicely not to throw heavy bottles on the vegetable and she just reply me “what can I do, there is no space left”You don’t need a PhD to know packaging heavy stuff first and put the light one on it if you don’t have enough space. Love the variety but things are more expensive than other Asian stores. Hated how deceiving prices of things are tagged. Totally unclear and my husband and I had to spend more than 15 minutes trying to find the price of the squid based on the barcode as there have more than 15 different types of squid price tags on the fridge but nothing on the product!!

Really not sure what Nate Seltos is smoking - I speak exactly zero Chinese and dont have a problem navigating. Some products can be more expensive than in American chain grocery stores (such as cookware), but I should think the reason youre there is to get items they dont have. Also, the vegetables are extremely reasonably priced; I always find myself spending less than I would have at Kroger or Meijer on the same items. No idea how he spent $67, I can hardly spend $25 there. If you cant understand Chinese, use Google Translate or ask for help - though Ive never had to do either, as the labels tend to be in both English and Chinese. Overall its a really nice place with an impressive selection of goods that I cant get elsewhere, and their sanitization standards are far above American chain groceries (a huge plus in this pandemic).Oh, and if you want the English menu? Ask for it. ;)

The clear Superior of the two Asian markets in West Lafayette. Good variety of produce, seasoning, sauces, packaged foods, and fresh meat/seafood not found at local grocery stores. Prices on most things are reasonable given that context. They have a small restaurant in the back (no English menu tho), and only slightly sketchy public restrooms. There is a five or ten dollar minimum purchase if you use a card. The only downside is that its typically pretty difficult getting assistance finding things or having questions answered if youre an English-only speaker.

Its a good store, but just make sure to double check what they scanned while you are in the store. My problem is I checked after I got home. Plus I usually buy quite a few items, which make it harder to keep track on what item has been scanned. About 80% of the time, I would find something they overcharged me (ex: I got two the same things and they charged me three).Just make sure to double check while in the store, so you dont have the same experience.
