Over the top, personable, customer service. Great people to do business with. Highly recommended by ME!
Bought a turquoise conga set and realized i can learn at home.love my new congas! Great price and owner and staff were great!
Fantastic service. Excellent selection. Items not likely to be found at the huge stores.
Gene and his family will treat you better than your own!!! Between Gene & Kevin, I’ve never seen a dedication to excellence and a desire to assist everyone that walks through the door like they are all lifelong friends and/or family!!! Gene is also blessed with a great wife, whose name escapes me but she’s just as wonderful to work with. If you need anything in the musical area, please support a local business who will in turn be there for you every time you grace their doorway!!!
Amazing store, wide variety. I always come here for all my families musical needs.
Absolutely wonderful 👏❤ 100 Great owner...
ABSOLUTE BEST FAMILY OWNED STORE! they can never let me down! I get almost everything here for my drums and it’s always great! Great deals he will give you a great discount for what you get! Very informative and they tell you what is best to buy for what price you have! Will definitely be back to this amazing place! Thanks guys
My first few visits to this store were great. Gene is very knowledgeable and eager to make you a happy customer. On my last visit however it was a different story. I went in to buy a couple sets of guitar strings and was blown away. Im guessing it was Genes son working that day which was November 4th the day after the elections. He charged me $10 per set and I wanted two sets. When I asked why such a big price increase his answer was because the minimum wage law was passed. I think the most Ive ever paid was around $8. Theres nothing wholesale about this place with prices like that. I went online and bought three sets of the same strings for $13. I understand that small businesses are hurting and try to buy local when I can but thats price gouging right there. They just lost me for a customer and Ill tell my musician friends about this.
PART 1/2 - READ ALLI hate leaving reviews like this, as I know how much a negative review can impact a small business, but feel obligated to after my experience here to protect fellow musicians and consumers in the area.I found this store online after being informed that they were a Martin dealer - and went to the store with the full intention of buying my first Martin guitar, if they had the one that I was searching for in stock - to which they did!Upon entrance of the store I went to the guitar section to look around and see what they had - and was immediately followed over by the owner and his son. This is fine and I’m glad there is someone there to help me with any questions I had - but from there the first thing the owner brought up was “any Martin you want, I’ll take off $100 and throw in a case!” This felt very “gimmicky” to me and raised some eyebrows as to why someone was so willing right off the bat to offer so much off, but after that I nonetheless thanked him and said I would take a look and let them know if there is anything I liked. From there him and his son continued to try to follow me around and “sell” me on there guitars and how much of a great deal they are. I hate using this analogy, but it was very similar to experiences I have had with used car salesmen. I continued to look and found the model I was looking for. After doing much research, most big name guitar companies had the guitar in stock for $599. I was excited because not only had I found the guitar I liked (and assuming that since market value for this guitar was $599, that was the price at this store) I would also get an additional $100 dollars off! After asking the owner the price this was not the case, and what they were asking for the guitar was $799. I immediately respectfully asked why this same guitar was $200 more than where I have seen it in other stores when I was doing research. The son asked me to show him where I saw it for a less price - to where I had then pulled up the guitar on guitar center for - you guessed it - $599. After showing him, he seemed shocked and started stumbling on his words - to where he finally concluded “I am surprised they are selling it for that low.” The father/owner chipped in after that saying “Martin makes the same models at all different qualities, and this is one of the HIGHEST quality of the same exact model that other places are selling it for at $599.” Might make sense, but I thought to myself how can anyone prove that when the model is the same model, and the materials are the exact same materials as well? After that the seller said “but don’t take my word for it, you can call up Martin DIRECTLY and see!” Again with the gimmicky sayings - that really put my guard up and continued to make me feel like I was talking to a used car salesman. This was all before I had even had the chance to play the guitar. I said I would like to play one and then will check in with them after. Since the model I had looked at wasn’t at the price that I could have found it online, I took back a different one that would have been $699 after the $100 off to see if I wanted to purchase it. From there the son followed me back and hovered over me while I was playing, to which at several points I tried to politely convey to the son and the owner that I wanted some space to get a feel for the guitar to see if I wanted it. As I was playing he continued to try to “sell” me on all the features, the free case, etc. I finally just told him thank you, but give me a minute to feel it out and I will come ask you if I have any questions.Upon him leaving the room where I was playing, I immediately looked up this guitar model to make sure I was correct that this guitar was also selling new for $599. I googled the model with the exact same features and everywhere I looked... $599. At this point I realized my gut feelings about this store, the son, and especially the owner were correct. I wasn’t going to purchase here, and I immediately knew that when I was to tell the owner and the son they probably wouldn’t take it well...
Great selection and very friendly and helpful people.
These people take time to talk to their customers, and are welcoming to new and old musicians alike. Their prices are very reasonable and they will find a way to fit your budget. Dont be afraid to ask for advice on what you need, theyll get you there by explaining the equipment and not just trying to up-sell you on junk.Ill gladly pay the couple extra bucks here than online.EDIT: Just wanted to amend my review, some people here are incredibly put off by the forward nature of this stores customer service. As someone who has spent their entire working career in corporate stores I totally understand the vibe people can get walking into a place like this. The key factor to consider here is that this location is not part of some national chain, and the owners actually own the store and call the shots.Maybe just be nice if the guy wants to cut you a deal?
Family owned local business. I like that and dont mind spending a little more to support it.I purchased my first ukulele there on a whim. Never played before. The owner and staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and gave me such a good discount, I was able to upgrade to much better instrument. Im having a lot of fun with it. Ive been back there a few more times for accessories and am treated like family each time. 👍🎶
Dont shop here unless you wanna pay more for less. Also reading the owners responses to his reviewers tells me he is not interested in making improvements to his store and that he is obviously never wrong.
What a great music store! The people who own it are incredibly kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. You can tell they are happy people who love music. They have an excellent selection along with advice and experience that you cant get from ordering music products online.
Family owned and THE best sales and service I have encountered! Gene even sold me the BC Rich banner off of the wall for my rehearsal room!
Great people! Always ready to make a deal!
Great selection and professional advice. Family owned and operated and they are always willing to discount your purchase.
I know nothing about drums, but needed a surprise gift for my boyfriend. Gene and his associate (son, I think) were super helpful in helping me find the right drum (snare) and explained the difference in brands for snare skins. When I went to buy the item, he even took $8 off without me even saying anything! Full price was just fine (compared to what I could find new on google + shipping was roughly the same). He then proceeded to show off some cool new equipment, with no pressure to purchase. I have to say, knowing nothing about instruments was not a deterrent and he made my friends and I feel welcome the entire time. Im very grateful that he helped me find a perfect small gift!
I just purchased an acoustic guitar from Wholesale Music and my experience was very pleasant. Kevin and Dean not only helped me with my decision, being a beginner, but they answered all my questions that I had for them. I never at one minute felt rushed or that they were trying to just sell me any guitar. So all in all I walked out with my guitar with them giving me a great deal and I would recommend this business to everyone. I know I will be back for all my needs.
Lots of new and used musical instruments. Great staff and service
Please shop in this store!!! this family is wonderful!!! purchased a guitar for my granddaughter for christmas in the color we thought she would love, but we were wrong!!! went back to the store day after christmas and gene and his lovely wife were so gracious to make our lilliana happy with the color she really wanted!!! they spent so much time with us and explained everything they could to lilliana. omg, she left the store so so very happy!! please take my advice and shop at this beautiful store, you will not be sorry!! we feel like they are family now!! and oh what a selection they have of anything you need!!! support the mom and pop stores!!!!!!👍👍👍😉😉😁😁
Great place for instruments, awesome staff, I wouldnt shop anywhere else
Stopped in to grab strings. They also happened to have random specialty screws that I needed for a restoration project. Friendly service. Will stop in again.
Gene has been reported to the Better Business Bureau. I feel bad for them and the son who stands up for him... look at there responses to reviews. All we can do is pray for people like this.
Dude, stop responding to negative comments. It makes you look like a douche.-edit- Im just trying to help you out, buddy. Your responses make you seem hostile and will drive people away.
The owner is very disrespectful. Please DO NOT support this business. This store is located in the corner of a PLAZA, meaning that the parking spots located within the plaza is intended for customers of ANY of the businesses located in the plaza. The owner forced me to move my vehicle because he didn’t want me parking in front of his store. There is NO assigned parking in that plaza. I am recovering from a surgery on my wrist so I went to grab a cup of coffee at my favorite coffee shop located right next door after my physical therapy appointment for my wrist so I can relax and work on my laptop. Before I even was able to take a sip of my latte the owner barged in telling me that I needed to move my vehicle away from his store. Driving alone is uncomfortable given my injury so the fact I had to stop what I was doing and move my car to the VERY NEXT parking space was very absurd. Honestly I was on the verge of tears from the commotion he caused. This is not ok, I would never want anyone else to go through that.
We bought a viola there last weekend for my daughter who is in middle school orchestra and couldnt be happier. Gene is great to do business with.
This place is terrific. They are helpful in every possible way. Gene and Kevin are terrific guys. I have never had a bad experience here. I wouldnt go to a different music store (but thats not true because if Gene dont have the part in stock he directs me to a competitor that does)
Kevin and Dean gave me a great deal on a Hamer Explorer. Also some free stuff. I am just starting you and they are awesome people. Great shop, clean, and very knowledgeable. I will only buy from them.
I had a wonderful experience here! The men were very helpful and gave me a great deal on a keyboard stand. They also threw in an adapter for the headphones I purchased too. I left with everything I came to get. Ive been having so much fun with my new setup. I would highly recommend this store!
Staff is friendly, gene is a hoot and knows his martins! His son and wife are very friendly. If you want to know the best option for you and a little backstory as to why, then just go visit them. I believe they are very fair with their pricing, and gene will do whatever he can to earn your business! 5 stars and thumbs up!
Very friendly staff, clean store and good selection. Highly recommended.
Great place to purchase a guitar! They showed me what is best for me.
I couldnt be happier with my guitar purchase. Reasonably priced. And friendly people. So even if you just started playing, They understand. My brother is about to purchase a electric drum set from there.
Gene knows his music and is a very honest merchant. great gear at a great price. well worth a visit I buy all my guitar needs there. including my new Martin D-28! thanks Gene!
Wonderful products and services!!!! The best music store EVER. I actually found something I thought I could not find in Florida at all. GENE and his son are very gracious, accommodating and gave me an unbelievable deal. Thanks so much.
Great guitar store, great employees, but very good at saying no to lower the price.
The gentleman that owns the store..has lot of knowledge..about quality guitars...he has great prices...can start you out with beginner models all the way to vintage quality instruments....
They have a great selection and the prices are great!! The service is excellent and they are very knowledgable in every aspect and all the things they sell. All quality merchandise the only place I go the latest in equipment and top of the line.
Mostly used gear. Everything is overly priced. The second you walk in the is trying to sell you a 3000 dollar guitar that hes will to take half off of and and a story to go with it.
Gene and Vicki and their son Kevin are really nice folks. They will help you with any of your musical needs. They go out of their way to see that you are happy and satisfied with any help with your purchases. Highly recommended!
I am a new customer of Wholesale, but was very impressed by the owner and staff as well as their excellent pricing. The music equipment business is extremely difficult at the local level due to the online big-box stores, but after my experience there, I will bring all of my music-related business to these folks whenever possible.I was shopping for an amp that can play acoustic and electric and they recommended the Boss Katana. I went home and did my research and they were spot-on with their sales pitch and features as well as matched all online store pricing! You cannot ask for more IMHO.
Searched most of south and central florida for the guitar i was looking for. spotted your place as i was passing by. the guitar you had fit my needs and desires perfectly. everyone else wanted me to buy one sight unseen and return it if i didnt like it. no thanks -- will never buy another guitar without first trying it. thanks Gene for taking care of me, understanding what i wanted and leading me right to this beauty, and giving me a reasonably good deal. Enjoying my new Cordoba Fusion Orchestra 12.
Very pleased with customer service, spent much time with me trying to find right instrument!Mark Wright, I find your comments very difficult to believe.Have dealt with many music stores.Staff at this store is courteous and kind. Are you a political operative (because of your reverse racism comments) or the owner of a music store that has few customers?
Live music? WowCame looking for a case for an odd-sized guitar, found a live sit-in jam session, how delightful.Owners were friendly and knowledgeable. My case was out of stock, he was happy to order more in. All in all, a great little shop.
Great service and great guitars great to deal withSuper nice friendly people
I have had absolutely wonderful service from Gene and Kevin. They have been very patient and giving with their time and energy and are really good people without any sales pressure to buy. Come check them out.
Highly recommended! Very nice inventory, it is operated by the owners and they are very helpful and knowledgeable people. Thanks a lot, they really helped me to get the right guitar witch a love it!!! For sure I am coming back!
Buyer beware! Southern charm is lathered on heavy, but is it appropriate to represent used instruments as new? Martin 000 out the door with taxes AND a case (the deal sweetener) for $1395? Seriously? I bought a used J 45 from them 3 years ago when I was young and foolish and ended paying $2000, out the door, taxes and a case (the sweetener) included. Fool me once, shame on me... Buyer beware!
I came into this store looking for an openback claw hammer banjo. This man tried to sell me everything but. He tried to sell me his bluegrass banjos and then a 4 string banjo!! He told me i could clawhammer on a 4 string just fine! Evidently he doesnt know much about banjos.
The people that run this store are done to earth and friendly. I have had the chance to visit and recommend them to my friends when they need something locally! I’m glad they are serving the local musicians as we do need stores like this for gear and advice sometimes!!!
Awesome store
I went in today to purchase some bass strings. They only had one brand to select from called Hi-Beams. He also stated that “bass strings now are ranging anywhere from $40-$70”. This is absolutely absurd. I’ll go on Amazon and purchase Ernie Balls for $17.I actually came back to this place to give them a second chance, and still had a terrible experience. Taking a look at the Google responses from the owner too, it looks like he cant take criticism to improve his business. Ill continue shopping at Wickham Road Music and on Amazon. Thanks anyways.
This place is amazing! Got a meinl cymbol and it was 100$ and a 250$ stand that is really cool but they said we could get 100$ off so it was a steal!Best place in Melbourne by far!
The selection is pretty good, but the customer service needs improvement.
Gene and Kevin are awesome i got the guitar I wanted and a great deal. Very good customer service. Very genuine and kind people. Ill be back for sure.
Great Music store, anything you could possibly need in music.
Wholesale Musical Instruments is a family operated business now located in West Melbourne. In an age where mom and pop style brick and mortar stores are falling away Gene, Kevin and Viki have figured they way to succeed is to have a business where people want to go to. They have accomplished this by maintaining a clean and friendly atmosphere with new and carefully used instruments and accessories. What really makes me want to go and buy stuff are their country jam sessions. This is an opportunity for expert musicians and duffers like me get to play together. I have exponentially improved my skills by strumming along. These jam sessions caused a music addiction on my part. I found myself buying and electric, tunner, stand, amp-pa and just can’t stop.
Wholesale music is a great shop in Melbourne FL. I am surprised by how much they offer inside the small space. Gene is a nice guy and will be happy to help you out!
Great folks!! Very knowledgeable and courteous
I cant say enough good words for this family based store...Friendly, helpful, good prices and great knowledge of all things musical, not to say talented in playing music and have a great country rocking band called Ring of Fire....Best place in town for all your musical needs.
Awesome store. Owner is very knowledgeable and works with you. Best music store.
HEY, this place is terrific and the people serving you, even better. Im from Québec, Canada and wanted a Laney Mini-Bass-NX and could not find one around. Googling the iNet I found this place, wrote my need and Kevin answered me back quickly and took care of my needs, ordering the mini-amp and kept-it for me many weeks, until i pass end buy it. While i was there, these folks were professional, generous and very friendly. The told me, the can ship in USA and probably in Canada. If you need something around music, instruments or else, you must check it out héréditaire before buying.Yc a very satisfied custumer
Great place to purchase guitars and Gene is amazing with all his clients
The place to buy your musical needs.
Great staff who are extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
Sent my wife to pick up strings for my acoustic bass and she wlked out with strings, and a hard case! I was told by Florida Discount Music that I had NO CHANCE of getting a case unless I found an old used one on ebay. Give these guys a chance!
The owners are friendly and knowledgeable and have great prices.
Wonderful music store
Great music store!
Great.!!! Nice,clean store
Owner is an idiot! Picked a fight with me in less than 5 seconds. Had to restrain myself from knocking out the little weasel. Do not support!
Its closed Mondays guess what day today is
Terrible customer service, overpriced low quality instruments
Super store
