I came into the store today for help with my wife’s Tag. I had the watch serviced by another jeweler who turned out to have absolutely no idea what he was doing. Glen resized the bracelet, inspected the movement, replaced the gasket and sealed the watch properly. Outstanding knowledge and service! Don’t trust your watch in any other hands! Highly recommended!!!

Following a hand injury, my diamond wedding ring no longer fit on my finger. I took it to Walter Bauman Jewelers to either have it resized or reset. Obviously theres a lot of sentimental value attached to this ring. My salesperson, Theresa, really knows her business and offered me a few options. When I decided to have the diamond reset, she helped me select a beautiful band. In my case, they offered same-day service, so I had my new ring that afternoon. Theresa and everyone else I dealt with was courteous, professional and very. nice. I cannot say enough about the great service they provided. Thanks to all for giving my wedding ring new life!

We only have one word...ROSS.Laura and I visited the store two days in a row and he was so helpful, patient, fair, honest and well, HILARIOUS! Every business needs a Ross! Walter Bauman has been around since I was a kid, once I grew up starting working I became a customer and I was always satisfied with the merchandise and the quality it is awesome, and unique styles with estates jewelry one of a kind. The experience of selling my silver and gold to Walter Bauman was mostly positive. The man I dealt with was professional and honest in keeping with the reputation Walter Bauman is known for. My disappointment was really in the fact that I was only paid 50% of the jewelrys market value. While I understand that the owners wish to make a profit, and that is entirely fair, a 50% profit margin is rather large. I was hoping to get around 75% of my jewelry value.

I went in today to buy a birthday present. It was the most pleasant jewelry shopping experience Ive ever had. I gave the saleswoman, Barbara, my budget and she was extremely respectful of it, not trying to up-sell me beyond it and not being pushy about any products. She toured me around the entire store to show me my options. I ended up purchasing a beautiful tanzanite ring, despite not looking at other stores, because of how wonderful Barbara was in not only respecting my upper budget limit, but in the time she took, without rushing me, to explore all of my options. Today I went to Walter Bauman Jewelers in West Orange to have some of my moms jewelry that I inherited, appraised. I met with Dan Miller who did the appraisal for me. I love going to this place, everyone is always so friendly & proffesional and Dan proved that once again. He explained everything he was doing while appraising my moms diamond that my dad bought her for their 30th anniversary. Dan confirmed, my dad had great taste in jewelry!I had such a pleasant time and Dan was a blast to hang with for an hour. Plus, he cleaned the diamonds and OMG I cant stop staring at this ring.I would definitely recommend Walter Bauman Jewelers to anyone looking for good quality jewelry from a very reputable company. They have been in this location for over 50 years. However, it doesnt look like my Moms store anymore. Its beautiful inside, I could spend hours just looking around. It’s bright and cheerful and the entire front of the store is all floor to ceiling windows and it’s always spotless.They also do repairs and buy gold, sometimes adding 20-30% to the total.In addition, theres plenty of parking behind the building.Love the grandson Walter too, hes always smiling and so pleasant.

I just left Walter Baumen Jewelry and had the one of the best shopping experiences Ive had at any jewelry store. Due to my job Im always in a rush so I really appreciate when I get a knowledgeable and efficient sales person. Dan Miller was exactly that. I asked for an opinion on a chain for my pendant and within 30 minutes I had purchased a beautiful chain for a great price and had my existing chain cleaned for me. This is a great example of true customer service. He knew what I would like, was helpful and knowledgeable in his suggestions, helpful in pricing and went above and beyond by offering to clean my other chain all while having friendly banter. This is a true gentlemen and excellent salesperson.

Although very nice staff and jeweler, as an inexperienced customer, I was charged an exuberant amount of money for a setting they made for me that was not worth all the money for the ring quality that I received back. I only realized how much I overpaid after I did more research which I should have done prior. If money is not the object then this is the place for you

DON’T GO HERE! These guys are the epitome of incompetent. It’s a shame as well because they decent merchandise. However, so does several other places that are definitely more worthwhile going to, which I strongly urge you to consider before ever thinking of going here.Never have I met people so incompetent, so transactional, so fixated on the sale opposed to the customer service experience. I am actually disgusted with their level of service, lack of integrity, and their handling of my recent situation with them.Story: I purchased an expensive Movado watch in 2014 from the mall. A small piece of the buckle part of the watch strap broke. So I took it here to get fixed because WB sponsors Movado. Opposed to replacing that small part, they “insisted” on replacing the entire band, which they made me pay for. However, the manufacturer of the watch stated they’re supposed to replace it for free because I owned the watch for over 2 years. So they deliberately lied to me to get a sale. Which is just a classless, disgusting tactic, and they should be ashamed of themselves. The worst part was THEY PUT ON THE COMPLETE WRONG COLOR STRAP ON IT. Now the watch itself appears more dull! So not only are they dishonest and not helpful, they’re also dumb as well! Thank God I wasn’t there to witness this (my father was the one who picked it up) or the scenes would have been flat out bad. I don’t know if I’m more mad at them, or myself for initially listening to them. Either way, PLEASE.. JUST … NEVER… GO .. THERE!!

Do your homework when it comes to selling your fine jewelry and diamonds. I would not suggest going to WB. I was shocked at what they offered for a very nice quality diamond I was selling. I received 4 times that amount from a very repuable jeweler in Manhattan.

Such a bad experience today. I walked in and waited about 4 mins until someone walked to me, that was after the manager told 2 older woman to stop chatting it up. Neither of them wanted to work that day I guess so they both looked at each other to see who was going to assist me. Finally one walked over and so rudely asked what I needed. I said I needed a replacement battery for my watch, she grabbed it it from my hand and said it would be $28 because of the type of watch it was (which I didn’t mind). But she was so rude, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I rather pay more somewhere else where they are a bit nicer to be honest. I used to come here all the time, but not anymore.

Went in to get an idea how much they would buy my wedding band and engagement ring for. The jeweler threw both of the rings into a little bucket scale. It was a terrible price not worth mentioning what they wanted to pay me for the rings. Never going to them nor will I recommend them to anyone.

Not only did I find beautiful vintage Mikimoto pearls here at a great price in the estate section, the jeweler service is top-notch. I had already had them resize one ring; today I had them take a large solitaire from its old setting and remount it in a 1930s art deco setting I found online. They did a superb job, adding millegrain detail to the prongs and polishing it so it sparkles like crazy. I would recommend both the sales staff AND the jewelers for all your fine jewelry needs.

Disgusted by my treatment at Walter Bauman. My family has been long time customers at this store, and we have brought my grandfathers antique Bulova watch for battery replacement for years. Last year, we purchased a 5 year battery plan, but yesterday, they refused to replace the battery, stating their documentation said the battery was for a Rumor brand watch. Even after I did an internet search to show there is no watch brand that even exists with that name, and that perhaps the information had been entered erroneously, and despite that weve brought the same watch here in the past and were long time customers, the employee refused to honor our 5 year plan. He was rude and dismissive, and gave no regard to our long history as honest and loyal customers.I am appalled by how this was handled - and the refusal to honor the age-old the customer is always right - not to mention we had just made an expensive jewelry purchase days earlier for my brothers wedding this week! Absolutely disrespectful and callous treatment, and you most certainly have lost a family of customers. Shame on you for how you treat your local customers.

Hello,I would like to begin by letting everyone know – BUYER BEWARE.I came into this store (West Orange, NJ, 07052) on November 10th 2015 and spoke to one of the sales persons on the team. I will not disclose the name so they shall be referred to as “R”. I was picking out a gold name necklace for my mother for Christmas. I had picked out a 14K gold necklace with a nameplate. I did not like the chain that came with that necklace so I asked if I could choose another chain. “R” showed me other chains and helped me pick out a different chain for an additional cost. The original nameplate and chain was $200. The separate chain was going to be another $200. The grand total was going to be $400 plus taxes. I was fine with that price. “R” stated that they could reduce the overall price by $40 by only replacing the chain. I made my mistake here by saying “I think that the original chain’s gold is worth more than the $40 difference, so I want to keep that chain as a backup”. That is when things started getting suspect. “R” said that there would be additional charges at this time for putting the new chain onto the nameplate. I asked “R” how much and they said that they did not know and would have to get a manager. The manager had left for the night so “R” stated that a manager or “R” would get back to me the following day November 11th 2015. At this point I felt tension in the air and realized that they might not want to get back in touch with me. Still I waited all day for someone to get back to me. I am sad; because, I was referred to this place by multiple people and now I have to go back and tell them about this incident. I am posting this on November 11th 2015 at the latest possible time as I have waited all day for their response. I will be following up and posting an update shortly.
