Just had my new boiler installed by Josh. It went smoothly, and the install is wicked clean and down right beautiful if I do say so myself. I got 3 quotes from other companies before this job. Not only is Josh a great value, his work is second to none.

We got home on a Sunday afternoon to find our boiler leaking. I called around and Josh returned my call within 15 min and scheduled me for the next morning. He was prompt, professional, had all the parts needed (and there were a few) and I felt like I learned a lot more about my Bosch Combi Boiler in the process. I had already used Maine Heating and Cooling to do a cleaning at the beginning of winter and was impressed with their tech. He was very helpful in explaining what he was doing and why, which as a new homeowner I really appreciated! When my furnace stopped working over night I left a message at 11pm and was called back at 7am (before they even open officially) with some trouble shooting ideas and to confirm they would have a tech out to my house that day. Got a text alert with a 20 minute notice when their tech was coming and he was very prompt and fixed the problem very quickly. They are very reasonably priced for their cleaning and this semi-emergency their response was very prompt and they did not charge crazy fees other companies might have charged for a last minute appointment.

They provide professional and great service. Ive been using Maine Heating and Cooling for 4 years and they always come out quickly and are very knowledgeable. They provide annual maintenance for my on-demand boiler, Central A/C and forced hot air furnace. Plus they always answer their phone.

The control panel failed on my broiler over the weekend. Maine Heating And Cooling had previously cleaned my unit and had photographic documentation to walk me through the necessary troubleshooting over the phone. They were able to diagnose this issue in advance and arrive within an hour of placing the call. Mike installed a new controller within an hour and I was good to go at half the cost of going through my own fuel company. Ill never go through another company for anything furnace related again.

We had a fantastic experience with Maine heating. Our 30 year old boiler in the riverfront home we had just purchased was “condemned” by our oil company. Maine heating got back to me quickly with estimates and options. They did not recommend the most expensive options and talked me through the factors to consider. They took into account the fact that we were without heat and delivered and installed the new system very quickly.They arrived promptly, worked quietly, and left the area tidy. Josh did a last minute installation of a boiler for us when our old heating system was facing yet another expensive repair bill. Josh was quick to correspond with us and despite a very full schedule fit us in on the weekend. He was able to recommend a unit that could use the basic set up we had in place and recycle a number of parts, which saved us several thousand dollars in parts and labor over systems other companies were recommending that would have required a complete overhaul of the setup. His initial quote was very reasonable, he assisted in finding an excellent chimney contractor to do some necessary work, and coordinated the chimney work and removal of the old boiler and tank. He was very responsive to our questions, and also assisted in the processing of incentive rebates. We would not hesitate to use him in the future.

Our wall hung boiler sprung a leak on a Saturday night, on the coldest weekend of the year, during a snowstorm. We found Maine Heating and Cooling through word of mouth, and Josh came through. Although we couldn’t get the part until Monday, he was able to help us troubleshoot and stabilize the situation so we wouldn’t ruin our boiler. They were able to come out first thing Monday morning, and now we have heat and hot water again! Great service and great work.

We had three other companies in to check our heating system over the years (all BIG companies) and they had no idea what was wrong with our system, puttered around in our attic, charged us $300 and never fixed the problem. Josh came in, immediately identified the issue, gave us an oral quote, and then emailed us with a quote that was almost $300 lower than the oral quote. He was here for a couple hours, and our heat actually works for the first time since weve owned the house (10 years). We never realized how bad it was until Josh got it working correctly. While the other guys were stumbling around looking at dampers and saying that was the issue, Josh immediately knew it wasnt the dampers but was the control panel and the board on the furnace not communicating properly. For 10 years the heat was trickling through our vents, and we just thought that was how it was supposed to be. Now, its FLYING out of those vents, and our rooms are actually heated correctly. Im sure well save a ton on propane now that were efficiently heating our house. He was great to work with, and I can honestly say I dont think Ive ever been happier with the work any contractor, in any line of business has ever done at our house, and there have been a lot of them! After having a previous serviceman who took shortcuts, I appreciate how much time Josh took to check out and clean my boiler, fix what needed to be fixed and made recommendations. He even was pleasant about my writing out the check incorrectly (hey, Im old!). I highly recommend this company.

Josh provided same day service on my oil furnace after the original contractor was unable to detect the problem. He used several tools to identify the root cause of the problem and determined that I had a defective pump and controller. He walked me through the tests and their results, explaining everything, and also retested after replacing the parts to ensure the same results did not exist. After replacing the controller, he explained how the new digital controller worked and what the various error messages meant. Overall, I was very pleased wit the service Josh provided and would definitely recommend him for any of your furnace needs!

I had to call him up last minute on a late Thursday afternoon because of a steam radiator that was leaking badly, and he was able to squeeze me in the first thing the following Friday morning to take care of it. I also had him convert my oil burner to gas, and he was fast and efficient (without sacrificing quality or thoroughness) about getting it done. Hes a great communicator via phone and email and will explain everything that needs to get done in a way that you will clearly understand. His prices are also competitive with the prevailing rates in Portland. What gives Josh the edge in my opinion is that he provides great customer service - since Josh IS Maine Heating & Cooling you are always dealing with one person, and not multiple receptionists/service technicians within the same company.I recommend Maine Heating & Cooling without reservation, and will continue to use him for all my heating/cooling installation needs and follow up maintenance in the future.

In November, 2016, I was evaluating replacement natural gas boilers. Maine Heating and Cooling is listed on the Bosch website approved installers list. Josh responded immediately, looked over the situation and gave me a fair estimate on the spot. It was clear he knew exactly what was needed. He scheduled the install, came on time, completed the job and the unit has worked perfectly. I recently had a problem with a separate component, the hot water mixing valve, and again his response was timely, he knew exactly what was wrong and replaced the valve. I unhesitatingly recommend Maine Heating and Cooling, and have done so recently to a neighbor for a boiler installation, who is also a satisfied customer. I only wish all installers and repair-people I have to deal with would be as knowledgeable and efficient as Josh!

We have known Josh for years and he is always reliable. We had him service our furnace today for its yearly cleaning and there was also a leak. He took everything apart and explained everything to me so that I could understand better how the furnace worked. He not only did a thorough cleaning, he cleaned up and repaired what other companies said they did.He has also done work on a duplex that we own. We had used a different company before and they always said the problem was fixed. But out tenants kept calling back with the same issues. So we called Josh, he came over and looked at the problem and fixed it. He also took it all apart and did a thorough cleaning! I would highly recommend Josh!

Very honest and proffesional. Boiler installation isnt cheap ever, but he was as fair as it gets. New boiler looks great and nothing was sloppy. Some advice, dont wait until the first time you actually need heat to fire up the furnace. Identify your problems early and get service scheduled.

I called twice and left voice messages asking for someone to come and give us an estimate on installing heat pumps and was never called back. First call was 11 days ago, 2nd call was 7 days ago and no response. I chose this company because of their fantastic reviews but quite frankly if they dont call people back Im not sure the reviews are to be trusted.

Josh installed a ductless air conditioning system for us. He did a wonderful job. He was great to work with, the installation was flawless and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and every detail was taken care of. The price was less than some of the other larger HVAC companies. All in all, five stars. We also used Josh to do some repairs on our furnace and tankless hot water system. He identified and fixed problems that were caused by another larger HVAC company that we used in the past. I would highly recommend Josh and wouldnt hesitate to use him again.
