Had a modest collection to sell, did online research and asked around. When my friend Terry Betteridge from Betteridge Jewelers in Greenwich said Sam Sloats was the place to go, I made the drive up.Had a fantastic experience. Andrew patiently spent an hour itemizing everything, checking prices, all while we shared stories of what a fun hobby it is, how much you learn about our country, which coins we liked aesthetically, factors that affect the value of a particular coin and date.Had some obscure world coins too, he produced a book 8 inches wide and even determined the value of those. For a second opinion on a few of the nicer pieces he brought out Bob, who impressively recognized where some had been purchased - at an Old Greenwich coin shop in the 70s!After writing it all down, with descriptions, dates, and prices, Andrew cut me a nice four figure check. It was fun and I learned a lot. This is definitely the place to go.

I brought in a sterling silver bar that my stepfather had given me one year ago, looking to sell it. I had done my research online and knew its approximate value, and was pleased when the sales clerk offered me a fair price. The shop is clean, well-organized and, I would imagine, a real treasure trove for collectors. My transaction took just a few minutes, but my daughter and I stayed for another ten minutes to have a nice conversation with the sales clerk, who made us feel right at home. Paid top price gold I wanted to sell, learned alot while I was there.

Sam Sloat buys stolen items and lies about it they make money and the victim loses. I wish I could have pressed charges against Sam Sloat. My ex friend who stole my items went back to Sam Sloat 7 different days you think they would have caught on.I found a Sam Sloat receipt that my ex friend dropped and both me and my husband separately went to Sam Sloat to ask them about the items. They denied ever seeing or purchasing our items. I had pics and appraisals. Police got involved. Detectives went to Sam Sloat obtained videos of the person selling them jewelry and receipts. My ex friend was found guilty on Felony Larceny charges. I never got any items back from Sam Sloat.

I had coins that I inherited after my moms death. I was referred to Sam Sloat Coins by a friend who had done business there. The people I worked with were very friendly and helpful, and the pricing they gave me was fair. Overall a great experience and I would definitely go back.

I brought a gold watch case to a local shop, who tested it for gold content. They said it was not gold even after it was tested.I brought it to Sam Sloat, who said it was gold, and offered a very good price.The watch case was marked in 3 places with Continental marks for gold content. If you dont know your diamonds, you had better know your jeweler! I trust Sam Sloat

Very friendly service. I brought in a Ziplock sandwich bag half full of old silver jewelry I didnt know what to do with, and 10 minutes later I walked out with a check for $200. They explained everything, let me see the scale, and were all around great. They have been here in town since I was a child. Fun place to bring your kids too - lots of interesting ancient coins to look at.

Awful, I was in the store around 1:00 and realized I had coins to sell that cost more, I went home Westport to Southport and retrieved the coins. I returned at 1:58, yes they close at 2:00 so I was cutting it close however there was still customers in the store. So I opened the door and got an earful from the manager. I work as someone who collects bills and have never been treated so poorly. I have no words, just..... just wow.

I have done a few trades (coins and dollars for money) at Sam Sloat Coins and, after checking with a collector or two, I have concluded that they have old-fashioned integrity. They are honest and give you the standard price in buying coins and bills from you. And they are helpful, too.
