This is such a cute indoor farmers market/cafe! Its great for browsing organic food and fresh produce as well as seeds. They have hundreds upon hundreds of seeds from herbs to seasonal flowers. Also, their cafe serves smoothies, coffee, and pastries. The bathrooms are gender-neural, which I am a big fan of! There are two nice seating areas, and if you have some free time on a nice day, its easy to park right in front and walk along Main Street. There is an ice cream parlor next door as well as a pizzeria and some boutiques. This is a nice way to start off a day trip, and a fun place to take some insta-worthy pictures! Its a very walk-able day trip, and you dont have to pay for parking! I highly recommend visiting.
We try and find the time to visit Comstock at least once a month. Their food and beverages are fantastic. Their seed selection(not for immediate consumption) is beyond anything I have ever seen before. The rustic atmosphere is great, the staff is always friendly. The outdoor seating is great even in the inclement weather thanks to the huge umbrellas over their picnic tables.
Delicious spot! Lots of coffee-esque products, daily specials, seasonal specials, and a regular café menu. We had a quiche special, a roast pork banh mi, and a peppermint mocha - all were 5 star selections. Also contains a small shop for some local goods, at least four or five rooms to sit in, kick back and relax. Gazebo out front, very large parking lot, play area in the back, plenty of heirloom seeds to purchase. Frequented by locals, good spot to just stop by and check out.
Great food and drink options. I have yet to order something that wasnt delicious. Definitely a pricey place but I think it is worth it to support local. Very nice environment for sipping coffee or shopping for seeds. The seeds I have purchased here made awesome flowers and vegetables!
It gets 5 stars for great sandwiches, coffees, smoothies, etc in the beautiful, scenic and historic Wethersfield, CT! Comstock Ferrre still sells the most incredible array of seed packets of every kind of vegetable or flowers imaginable! Pure charm.
I love Heirloom Market! Fresh food, delicious cookies and treats, shop-made coffee syrups (the hazelnut is AHMAZING!!!!). This is one of my favorite local places and definitely my favorite coffee/treat place in the area.
Very good coffee, awesome staff. More seeds than Ive ever seen with lots of other cool products. One of my favorites.
We had breakfast there today. It was really good! We had the quiche and the breakfast veggie wrap. And honestly you can taste the difference of the local ingredients they use. Some people complain about the price and dont consider the high quality of the ingredients. I think the prices are fair. I will definitely be coming back. Keep up the good work 😊
My hometown favorite. Comstock is rich with Old Wethersfield History. Coffees are great. Atmosphere is warm, the breakfast egg sandwiches are good but very thick. It’s like going Italian and looking at all that pasta on your plate, you know you shouldn’t eat it all but it’s so good you do it anyways. Next door to an outstanding Ice creamery. Nice for a weekend stroll. Have a coffee, pastry and walk the neighborhood.
Nice people and nice stuff there, but not the sandwich I ordered. When I got there, a store staff told me their specialty today is tuna sandwich, I thought that must be special, they should cook the tuna fish very much. However, it turned out a canned tuna fish mixed with source put between two pieces of toast bread. Such a humiliation!I guess I can go to Costco tomorrow to buy a roasted chicken and resell it as my specialty.
Great place for coffee and breakfast/lunch. Historic building with character. The menu is always changing, based on seasonal availability. Everything is organic and sustainably harvested. Stop in for seasonal produce and specialty gardening supplies. Heirloom seeds with varieties not found elsewhere in the area.
Great quiches and breakfast wrap, decent espresso, beautiful location, lovely staff. The only negative was the prices seem very steep for what you get. A small piece of quiche + breakfast wrap + espresso was almost $25. This could be because they use locally sourced organic ingredients, but there was nothing special that I discerned in the food to warrant high prices. Still, everything else is so nice that Id go back if I could afford it.
I absolutely ADORE this place. I moved to the Hartford area recently from Austin, TX, and numero uno on my list: find my coffee place! After a LOT of looking around, trying places, and maybe drinking a few too many cortados, Heirloom Market is IT! This place has serious Vibe, the staff are incredible, nice, cool, and the pastries and food are DIVINE. They have an enormous indoor area for sitting, as well as a cozy loft, where I sit and work almost every day for several hours (where I consume far too much coffee, pastries, and food). Why this place isnt nonstop packed is beyond me. It would be an excellent hangout for students who need to study, creatives who need to create, or work-from-home-folks who need their caffeine fuel and a good place to focus. My only wish??? That this place stayed open later. I am a night owl, and I have a sketch group that likes to meet in the evenings. This section of Wethersfield is often PACKED in the evenings, so why isnt the Heirloom Market which IMHO, should be rebranded Heirloom Market and Cafe because I think a lot of people dont realize they are a coffee and food place from the name! I didnt know until I walked in randomly one day. >_< Wine and beer offerings in the evenings would make it even more perfect of a spot for an evening hangout before traipsing off to eat on the Old Wethersfield strip or stopping in before getting ice cream.LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
This cafe is wonderful! The atmosphere has a calming and even quaint feel to it and is a great place to hangout with friends or family. The staff is always friendly and takes care of their customers. There are many food options that are unique and made with high quality local ingredients. This cafe also changes their menu according to the season which includes delicious options that are sure to satisfy. Overall, I definitely recommend this place!
Super Well Stocked. . . Ive never seen so many seed options ANYWHERE. Food was great. Super Cute.
Part seed store, part cafe/bakery. The cafe is super good. They have a great selection of breakfast foods (served all day) and sandwiches, and then bakery items such as muffins and cookies. We loved it. We came at 1 on a Saturday, and it was busy but not packed. We both had a bacon-egg-and-cheese sandwich, and it was incredible: best bun ever, thick bacon, and great eggs, with a maple siracha dipping sauce. Fun atmosphere, good place for a light meal.
This place is awesome in every aspect of the word.... I stopped in here by chance and I couldn’t have been more amazed at the variety of seeds they offered here. If it’s cool, unique or tasty they have it. They also have a pretty substantial amount of local farm food products. And there’s a cafe in there because why not, I like food or tea while I’m shopping..Delicious muffin, and super friendly knowledgeable service from EVERY staff member in the building....Which I highly appreciate because I come from a small city were the staff at 80% of the small business range from rude to uncaring to passive aggressive to arrogantly unknowledgeable.
Great place with organic produce, snacks, mints, chocolates, maple syrup and bread from VT, popcorn made locally in CT and much more. Lots of heirloom seeds to choose from. Gardening supplies, too. Soooooo many varieties of tomatoes, beans, gourds and more. We had lunch and hot chocolate from the cafe. It was delicious! Many options to choose from for drinks-coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, lemonade. It was a very comfortable place to get a bite. Whole menu is organic and fresh! Bathrooms are wheelchair friendly and so is entrance to Cafe. Very nice staff.
I may have a small addiction to the blueberry pancake donuts and the savory scones... While this place isnt cheap, the quality is fantastic for breakfast (e.g., coffee, pastries, breakfast sandwiches). That said, Ive had mixed experiences with lunch. The price point doesnt seem as good for lunch sandwiches and the kitchen output speed plummets when it gets busy. Be prepared to wait if you go during peak times.
Best scones I have ever had! Love how fresh the food is
Great asset to Wethersfield -- really unique. Try the cinnamon buns!
Comstock Ferre is a fantastic place to hang out and eat with family and friends. They are very safe during Covid19 times. The food is excellent, with a great deal of comfortable places to relax and eat. In warmer weather there is ample seating outside. Additionally, the have a huge selection of seeds for those with a green thumb. I have had much better luck with their seeds than Burpee.
Cubano and mushroom melt were on point. Great location with a superb staff.
What an adorable place. Just went for a chai and a biscuit, but it was amazing. Friendly folks, great outdoor seating, and love the locale.
Their breakfast wraps and BEC/SEC are scrumptious! The Sriracha maple syrup is the perfect touch to these dishes.
Always great food. I especially enjoy the biscuit BEC and the quiches for food, their eggs are so light but almost custardy, its delicious. And they make a beet lemonade that I am obsessed with, also love their red juice and all their juices. Everything feels authentic and is fantastic. Theres a very health-forward vibe and they also have a giant selection of wonderful heirloom seeds. There was a very cute sitting area (pre-covid) and still theyve managed to bring a cozy vibe to outdoor seating. Would definitely recommend, especially for the health-concious.
Love this place. Ive made my way through most of the menu and everything tastes delicious. Got the chicken gyro this time and WOW. Really great grilled chicken breast and they mix tzatziki and a balsamic vinaigrette together to have this savory sweet combo that I dont usually see. A really good portion size too.
The atmosphere is pretty nice. The place smells so nice. However Im not really a big fan of the food. It didnt taste that good honestly.
Hidden gem of Wethersfield! Well thats how I feel since every time I mention it to people they have no idea what it is! Definitely my favorite place to grab lunch and coffee in town. Always incredibly fresh food and friendly service. Every single person Ive ever dealt with is a delight. Do yourself a favor and stop in to get some amazing food and coffee, and hang out!
Excellent excellent and there avocado toast its delicious. I love the little store its just adorable its a quaint little country store and in a beautiful location. You have to try there breakfast sandwiches and pastries.
Stopped in to get coffee. Friendly and quick service.
Lovely place. Lots of fresh produce. Excellent coffee and baked goods. There are several picnic tables spread out in the back. Nice spot to grab a coffee and chill for a little bit
Allways delicious food and beverages, super selection of non GMO seeds and other grocery items.
Casual, rustic setting offering unpretentious, delicious fare. Plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians. We were really impressed with the hospitality and exuberance of all the staff that we met on our last visit. If you are spending a morning or afternoon in Old Wethersfield its well worth a stop!
Warm and friendly atmosphere. Great food-healthy and delicious! Cozy and full of interesting food items and merchandise for sale-even grocery items! Organic!
This place is too woke. They want you to wear a mask in there when its 90 degrees out, give me a break.
One of my happy places. Big old space with creaking wood, love it. Great place to read, nice natural light. Slow pace, stress free. Coffee. Honey. Loved going there with my preschooler. My kids get seeds there for their garden in the spring. Personal favorite: avocado toast. The food is real and really good.
This place continues to be one of my favorite spots in CT. The service can take a few minutes, but who cares when you can peruse local produce and hundreds of seed packets??They have good vegan options including juices, smoothies, non-dairy milks! They also have some vegan/gf muffins, too.Come and get your coffee on while you plan next years garden.
Top notch food, location, and owners. Highly recommend a visit.
The best scone Ive ever had. Great place, great staff.
Good coffee, friendly staff, delicious food!
Good food...order pickup needs to be improved
Very beautiful place.. The service was very nice.
Had a great time here and love heirloom seeds!
Heirloom seeds! Lots of them.Plus an organic market of limited scope and a cafe with excellent baked goods.
We go almost weekly and from the wonderful people that work there to the amazing food and drinks its always great to go. Its my go to place to bring friends and family visiting from out of town .
The food and drinks here are amazing! Very relaxed atmosphere and a wonderful place to have lunch or breakfast with a friend.
Ugh, I called and asked if they had celery, the person said yes, I drive from Bloomfield and turns out they are closing early. I ask can I please pay for just the celery. Nope.
Very nice place, coffe was ok. Only choice for sugar is brown sugar or activia. Thats it....
Great customer service. You should try their pulled pork sandwich on a Friday evening when they have their outdoor grill special. The lavender lemonade was refreshing and delicious. Staff were friendly and professional.
Quaint coffee shop in the heart of Wethersfield. Delicious hot chocolate and outdoor dining.
The food is amazing. Lattes are delicious. I love all the local produce
Love the verity of seeds. I found all unique seeds I was looking for except for 1. Im still looking for walking Egyptian onions. Shelves are neat and organized in alphabetical order of the plant group. Super easy to find what youre looking for. Store is clean, and well decorated. Will definitely go back.
Great job with covid guidelines. Felt very safe. BEC is huge and satisfying.
Wonderful staff, fantastic Ginger Molasses cookies. We are regulars each weekend while my child is in dance, and the Market offers a warm and friendly place to enjoy lunch or a snack while working or socializing. They are a little too fond of Squash....but I guess I can forgive them for that.
Low key, relaxed place to meet up with friends for coffee, share stories and but local organic produce. Great selection of packaged seeds for your backyard garden. Looking forward to spring planting ❤️
Every time I come from out of town to West Hartford to visit friends I HAVE to come here. The bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches is seriously one of the best things Ive ever eaten. I dont know how they prepare the eggs, but they are really something special. The homemade biscuit really seals the deal. SO GOOD! The fact that they carry a huge selection of Baker Creek seeds is icing on the cake.
A delightful place! Kid friendly atmosphere:) with lots of comfy seating to enjoy your company and food! Very friendly staff. I had a fresh hot coffee & a delicious pear muffin. Also bought a variety of beans and cucumbers for my garden. I highly recommend checking it out!
Crowded. Disorganized long wait for food
A great destination for before or after a walk in old Wethersfield. We often go to breakfast after yoga acriss the street. The hot cocoa with a homemade marshmallow is 😺 !Nice break or endpoint for bike rides too. Coffee... baked goods... light fare...Can also get free stickers for my Bike Karma Bicycle Stories podcast there near the register.
Great Spring Market. A wonderful variety of artisans. The food served at their cafe is always unique, tasty, and fresh. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Want a unique experience where you step back in time to Wethersfields beginning (1600/1700s) in an authentic barn and hat has stood the test of time, literally, and keeps on giving! Heirloom seeds are still available for purchase, which is amazingly cool plus modern amenities like a full service small restaurant/deli serving natural foods. Fresh veggies and other unique gifts are also available for purchase and there is an outdoor patio to enjoy it all with! ( :
Its great. Coffee was great. Really is. I just couldnt spend 8 dollars for a breakfast sandwich. If I purchased the sandwich I would have paid 25 dollars for 2 coffees, piece of quiche and bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Maybe Im just getting old and crochety.....
I love this place! Im a conscious buyer and I was so happy to see almost everything is ORGANIC in this store! And they also had a great selection and variety. I bought several great finds (ravioli, bratwurst, fire cider, raw milk) and I will definitely be back for more! I highly recommend it!
Wow the cookies are amazing, definitely suggest the sea salt chocolate chip. The latte tasted great and had an awesome design made with the foam. Plenty of seating inside from couches to tables and chairs. The overall environment is very relaxing. Plenty of parking available.
Great place to relax. There is a couch and two cushioned chairs with a table to sit at at the entrance. To the right there are more chairs and a little shopping part great for organic foods. There is also a whole part to buy seeds of various fruits and vegetables all at a really good price. If you havent seen the place it is a really relaxing place to just check out.
I _LOVE_ this place. Literally everything Ive tried there has been delicious, and they have such a cool selection of local and hand crafted goods. The atmosphere is great, and its a lovely place to sit and chat with friends over a cuppa.
The cafe is great (I highly recommend buying a cookie even if its for later) and the market is definitely unique with great local produce and seeds for growing it!
This was my first trip to Heirloom Market, and it met my expectations. I heard about this place from the Out and About Mom blog, and they did a great job featuring this cute spot. The morning glory muffin was devoured by my toddler, and my caramel latte was just right. The main purpose of the trip was to check out their seed selection. HOLY MACKEREL! Go in with an idea of what youre looking for, because they have everything! Great place. Will definitely be bringing the rest of the family next time!
As soon as you see the place, its rustic and welcoming, walk in, and they have an amazing interior. Its mixed industrial to old fashioned. I love it! They offer an organic grocery store and also serve fresh dishes from locally grown farms. I guarantee this is the best food stop you will have in a long time.
This place is incredible. What a find! Nearly 2000 varieties of heirloom seeds. You cant find this stuff anywhere. The work they are doing to preserve heirloom varieties is honorable and so important to preserving our horticultural heritage. Love this place! We will be back.
Great local place. Organic and local goods. Coffee and baked goods. Sandwiches. Worth the trip. The quality makes it a little pricey but not too bad.
Great seed selection. Baker Creek Heirloom seeds are the best. Great lunch atmosphere!
Great place with a farm feel. Old Wethersfield is a great little gem. I’m embarrassed to say this was my first visit here. Great meeting spot with plenty of tables and great food.
Super friendly and helpful staff!Adorable barn converted into a cafe/supermarket.No avo toast (as of July 23) but I got a delicious hummus toast on fresh bakery bread!Worth the drive off any highway in the area with plenty of parking spots on tje block!
You could easily put more tables in the front of the building.
Im not a huge fan of this place, mainly because the food or drinks that you get for the prices are just insane. My girlfriend loves your place however. Actually, she went there today, and bought a smoothie, complaining to me that she had to pay $6 for one, and they didnt even fill the cup all the way. ON TOP OF THAT, the girl making the smoothie took the remainder that was made, and rather than top off the customers cup, poured it into a coffee cup herself and drank it. Right in front of my girlfriend, the customer. So not only are your prices absolutely nuts, but your customer service is pretty unimportant to you if your employees are able to eat and drink the customers food.
Excellent place to visit for a relaxed breakfast and coffee. They have plenty of seating at tables as well as a few couches and chairs to relax and enjoy a book or to use as a satellite office. Definitely stop by and try the breakfast tacos. Aside from the fresh food and coffee they offer they also have a large selection of locally made grocery items. Definitely another gem in the Old Wethersfield area that you dont want to miss.
Best food around, both at the cafe and the fresh, organic produce and meats to go. Come here for their FABULOUS and huge collection of heirloom seeds. Just picked up some Wethersfield red onion sets...
I ate here recently and the atmosphere is great but, the food is really expensive and quite frankly, not that special.I would go back more often but $20 for breakfast for (1) is too pricey.
Visiting Heirloom Market at Comstock Ferre after its renovation by Julia and Spiro was a heartwarming event. It was like walking into 19th century romance. Theres an organic market and a sweet cafe with cozy seating in all the nooks and crannies of the place. I bought seeds for my garden, of course; but so look forward to the buzz of activity this lovely place will surely transform into, especially as the warmer months arrive. Youve just got to check it out for yourself.
Very quaint market and lunch place. Enjoyed a wonderful grain bowl at one of their patio tables a few weeks ago. local and fresh.
One of, if not the best cafes in Connecticut. Very homey and comfortable. Everything here is home made right down to the marshmallows in there hot cocoa! If you have never been I would highly recommend. I believe a lot of what that serve is organic and they have quite a few vegan options as well. Well worth a visit.
The aesthetic is awesome, customer service is friendly, and the owners are very nice. There is an extensive selection of heirloom, non-gmo seeds, creative pastries, and satisfying breakfast/lunch options. Espresso is always fresh and has a good balance of light and dark roast beans. The two negatives that really keep this place from being five stars is that the food is ridiculously overpriced, regardless of the sourcing, and isn’t consistent in quality. I’ve also regularly experienced issues with the staff getting my order wrong on a regular basis. All in all, I like Comstock and come here regularly but it leaves a good amount to be desired.
