Hilltop is impressive for these reasons. 1) Meat is first class,2) produce is always fresh,3) prices are usually lower than supermarkets, 4) often have unadvertised specials that are pleasant surprises & 4) the people are friendly.As you might guess, I am a regular customer.

I always liked dealing with the Hilltop going way back to the Saugus Hilltop restaurant and store on Route 1. I have had 3 recent sort of bad food experiences, two were pastries, the whoopie pies were stale, and recently raspberry turnovers were less than fresh. But the worst was last night when I went to cook the pork chops I bought 3 days ago, I nearly gagged when I smelled the meat just before I was getting ready to prep it.Needless to say I am bringing the food back today and this will be my last visit. the store seems dirty and tired and the prices, while good on some items, are not worth getting sick over from food that is not fresh. It reminds me of a thrift store, sort of like Roxies in Quincy, they both need to be cleaned better.

Was a great place to pick up even greater cuts of beef at a very reasonable price it will be well missed

Would never ever go there again make me want to quit eating beef

I dont like how they wrap their food always for freezer burn.
