Well theres not much to say about this place, I walked around for a good ten minutes could Not get anyone to help me, however two employees didnt want to be interrupted while in a conversation. So I tried to ask a question at the counter but the employee was more concern about telling the man in front of me a story about nothing related to service. So I just decided to leave. Guess they should say You can start at Star and well let you know when you can finish. Never Again....😳

Walked in didnt have to try to find anything they took me right to where I need it got it for me and it was easy. They are very nice guys in there.

Your web site is treacle terrible there is no easy way to look up what’s in the store. Or shop online.

Several nice showroom areas full of interesting interior and exterior options. Windows, interior and exterior doors, fixtures, kitchens and bath options, siding, stone, flooring, hardware and more, however no garage doors. Thats what we were hoping to shop for. Not a problem, just a bummer.

Victor, Jorge, and Jose have been great. Victor and Jorge are phenomenal installers. Jose is great to work with, and he will see to it the job gets done.

These are excerpts from my review from a couple of days ago:Called about pricing on some lumber. Discussed species (red oak), 1x, and price per board (as apposed to board foot) at $3.25 per linear foot, regardless of board length ($26+ for 8 and $13+ for 4.)Showed up 15 minutes later and picked out a few boards and had one cut down (guy in lumber building was very nice and accommodating). When I went to pay inside, the price jumped to $4.50+ per linear foot......Guy at the desk had a tough luck attitude. Would have just walked, but out of respect for the guy in the lumber building, I went ahead and paid for it. I will not be going back.....dont blatantly screw me...Today I received a phone call from one of the store managers, Brian. He pays attention to the reviews, and looked through Saturday mornings receipts to find my name and number. We had a very civil and respectful discussion about the events, and I felt as though he was as concerned about the integrity of the business as he was the marketing aspect of Google reviews. I genuinely felt like he was trying to set things straight. He certainly understood my position, and I his. In the end, I had to admit to being somewhat reactionary, and could stand to lighten up. It was first thing Saturday morning, and I dont know how the morning had gone for the guy who was checking me out. And, perhaps (ok - almost certainly) I was reading too much into the incident. Sure, maybe he could have been a bit more investigatory, but whatever.However, Brian did go out of his way to appease me, and we compromised, coming up with what we both felt like was a fair and equitable resolution. If I owe the guy who checked me out (and who I subsequently threw under the bus) an apology, then Im willing to say, Im sorry. In retrospect, Star seems to be very protective of their integrity and their reputation in the community. They have shown me (the small, seemingly insignificant customer that I am) that, in their eyes, my business matters to them. Im encouraged by this turn of events to continue supporting local business, and in the future plan to shop here first, before Lowes, Home Depot, Menards and Westlake. Thank you Brian; way to do retail.

This was the only place I could fine that carries redwood. They are not that interested in helping you if your not a commercial account.

Tony was great to work with and very knowledgeable.

They have a wonderful selection and it is very clean. I think if you want to get in and out its a lot better than a big discount store. But if you have to buy very much it would definitely be worth waiting in line somewhere else. Prices are a little high on lumber and cedar fence.

We built a deck and tree house and had the BEST experience ever with Star. The people at Star are SUPERB. Super helpful. We tried the big box hardware stores first - that was a nightmare.

All the employees are beyond helpful and willing to talk through problems or plans for projects. Will always be one of my go to stores for home projects.

Good remodeling ideas

I consistently experience excellent service with the Star flooring department. Their team is knowledgeable, helpful and follow through on all the details. I am so thankful for the expertise and assistance that Paul has provided, over the last four years, through multiple complex challenges. With his calm demeanor, he continues to help me navigate through some projects that have been doozies! Additionally, I recently had the opportunity to work with Don. He also went above and beyond in service. He coached us through our larger color considerations and despite COVID-19 challenges he kept me apprised of the timeline. Great products, great help and great people!

I wanted to give Star a 5 star rating. I really did. We built our house, told them our situation with three disabled kids and the incontinence issues in their bedrooms. They recommended regular builders vinyl and we paid extra to have it placed in the disabled kids bedrooms. The walk through, everything looks great. We start to move in and the vinyl starts tearing, bubbles underneath, and a fork fell and caused a cut in the vinyl. I called Star, was told some of the wood looking vinyl has been having warranty issues. Nick comes out and says he doesnt think they will approve fixing it. I asked him to let me know either way. Three weeks later, I still didnt hear from him so I call him to verify what he found out. He was uncaring that he did not call me back, they werent going to warranty the vinyl, and they have never come to fix the bubbles underneath from the install. For a company that has such great reviews, we did not receive good customer service all around. If we knew builders grade vinyl was such low quality, we would have upgraded since we had to pay the extra for the disabled kids bedrooms to be done in vinyl too. Very disappointed.

This company has a serious customer service issue. We just built a house and unfortunately we had no other choice but to deal with them as my builder only works with them (sad). The very first meeting went well as our designer was welcoming. However, everything later turned bad. I had many questions, especially about the measurements, after they admitted they made a mistake on one of the items, but I could never get an answer. I went to the store many time trying to talk to the designer we originally talked to but she was never available, she never called me back, and only replying to my emails once or twice. Tired of the situation, I went to the store, once again, trying to talk to the supervisor in charge of that department. Again, I left messages, emailed him, but I never got a response. In my opinion, this is not the way to take care of a customer. I truly hope we dont have to deal with this company again in the future.NOTE: the two starts is only because we liked the selections.

This is not your typical hardware store.Although they do have some items that you may be looking for.I usually go here when I cant find something in those big brand hardware stores.They stock hard to find items or items that would have been used to build homes 15-20 years ago.The staff is very knowledgeable of products thats available. The facility is well organized and clean.I would recommend

We went to Star to purchase carpet for our upstairs and the basement. Karissa was very engaging and helped us; explaining the differences of our various choices. Matt was great to work with & made sure the carpet was installed in a timely manner. Paul, the carpet manager, was a big help to us in addressing our questions and sincerely cared, to make sure we were happy with the results. We have beautiful carpet. Simply stunning ... these are the comments I am receiving on my updated kitchen. It was stuck in 1960 and Audra (designer) from Star helped me put together the most spectacular kitchen while still using the original painted cabinets. She not only helped with design but made sure the installers for flooring, backsplash and countertop were the best Wichita offers. It shows in every corner of my kitchen. If your updating your old kitchen I highly recommend Audra. Ten stars for Star !!!

I cant put into words how fantastic Audrey is! Went to Star to find flooring. I ended up with flooring, carpet for stairs, backsplash, granite countertops! I picked the flooring, and basically Audrey put together everything else. Weve had so many compliments! She has a great decorating eye. Not only that seems like every time a question on something during our remodeling, we called Audrey. She was on top of getting measurements, contractors, quotes, could not have survived this without her guidance. Knows her job to highest level. Beyond all of the business I found a very sweet friend, she has a great personality, attractive, and I think the world of her.

During our house remodel we were unsure of all the color choices we had to make. Don Brockmeyer at Star Lumber West was so knowledgeable and I would give him 6 stars for the assistance he gave us.

Star Lumber KNOWS they have a corner on the new housing market in Wichita and surrounding areas. Their new construction department is pretty good (which is where the quick money is), but not their existing homes or renovation team.However, if I build a new home again I will absolutely and unequivocally refuse to give them my business going forward because when I finished my basement myself, their renovations team has been rude, not followed up when they have said they would have, incomplete orders, wrong orders, and inventory they say they had, your order is ready for pickup, when I showed up to pick it up, it was out of stock and sold to another customer that could pick it up on sight right away and no follow up when it was back in stock as promised by their warehouse manager. Im a HUGE proponent of customer service and Star Lumber doesnt have it for the small orders. Plain and simple, period.I have specific names if anybody wants them. GO ELSEWHERE, youve been warned by this and other reviews saying the same.

Prices are pretty high on a lot of items compared to Lowes or Home Depot. Staff here is friendly though and they have a great selection of wood. Much better quality wood than the big box stores

Great quality product and honest opinions are given. The installation, which is contracted out, was absolutely terrible. The quality work was not received from the contractors. This being said, the lovely lady Shana and the customer service warranty department worked hard to fix all the mistakes. The field investigator in the warranty department, Matt, fixed all issues himself to my satisfaction. From my experience I would shop at Star Lumber again.

Moving can be so stressful, add in picking out new flooring and the stress grows. Not with Allen, he was professional, prompt and extremely helpful with all the questions we had about picking out the best flooring for us in our new home. Offered to send samples, as we were moving from out of state. Installation was painless and quick! They did a great job, I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Old school lumber yard, not a big box store. You have to know what you want and ask for it at the counter, you cant just browse the aisles. More for the working professional, not the do-it-yourselfer. Owned by a local family, not a big corporation.They have their own mill, so they have a huge selection of molding.

We had our basement stairs upgraded from carpet covered to hard wood. Star Lumber did a good job. The people they sent were always prompt and on time, work fast, did a very clean job and listens/answers all questions and concerns I asked.We are a very satisfied customer. A+++++

It was a disappointing experience. The flooring was fine but the contractor did a terrible job on the trim. Project managers were difficult to reach and getting on the schedule was very difficult after I paid the full amount.

Star Lumber & Supplys involement in our whole home remodel experience was quite beneficial. Michael Young was our point man and a tremendous help with product selection and coordination of sub-contractors plus his advice via past construction experience was really helpful. Decided to give sheet vinyl a try after seeing Allen’s video on it (the designs caught my eye ... and zero seams seemed like easy cleaning) .... it went right over the luxury vinyl tile that I hated (white in a bathroom is a very bad idea!). So far I am loving it in all three bathrooms.

My husband and I were in looking at waterproof laminate and luxury vinyl flooring. We walked around for 15 minutes and made eye contact with the numerous staff members working there and not one person acknowledged us. We were very ready to purchase flooring from there but don’t believe we will be doing so now. EXTREMELY disappointed in our experience and customer service.

They were 5 hrs late on day of install. The flooring had a defect all through which looked like scratches but they installed anyway. When they came to fix it they didnt install correctly & left 2 boards sticking up. When they came back to fix that they installed defective bds again.

Was told before transferring the phone call that our carpet would be re stretched for no charge if they did the install. I finally managed to get to the person that was in charge of scheduling an appointment. She then informed me that the builder purchased the carpet for our basement and therefore the carpet was only warrantied for one year. She told me that if I had bought the carpet personally, that it would still be covered under their warranty. She did confirm that Star laid carpet in the basement. Since it was laid it had several small wrinkles. Over the last couple of years it has gotten worse. When we have company at our house, people stumble over the carpet.The lady told me that when a builder buys the carpet, Star gives them a better deal and therefore only warrantied the install for one year. However, when the carpet is purchased by the homeowner themselves, they warrantee the install for the lifetime of the carpet.Therefore, when the builder buys the carpet and gets a better deal, it sounds like the insulation is done very poorly. However, if the customer is willing to pay more, the installation is done better, therefore giving a longer warranty. She proceeded to tell me that the problem was with my builder and not with Star. I told her that I disagreed with her since they laid the carpet, not the builder. She then had the gall to ask me if I wanted to reschedule a time when they could re-stretching my carpet. Now why in the heck would I have them re stretch my carpet and bill me, when they could not do it right in the first place?From now on, I will make it a point to make sure that no one else runs into this problem with Star. If Star says that the installers always do a great job, then why does the person purchasing the carpet and the price make a difference? In addition, why would be the builders fault that our carpet looks so horrible, when they did not lay it?

Customer service is #1! Tammy Cowdin was very understanding and helpful when the Milgard Window rep was not interested in finding a time to replace a defective window. Tammy stepped in this week after finding out that our window had not been replaced and was not scheduled to be replaced after this process started last December. The crew that came out was very respectful, friendly, and cared about what they were doing.

I was very happy with the flooring and the installation. They did a great job!!!

We bought a brand new home in which STAR did much of the interior. We are pleased with the quality of the flooring and tile-we purchased higher end materials. However, the person who layed the tile in our master bath did a sloppy job. I am now stuck with tile that has chunks of appoxy in corners and a residue that makes the floor look dirty and smudged no matter how much I clean it. The appoxy around the backsplash and granite counter top is cracked and there are chunks that oozed out of the cracks that are uneven and messy.

I have always rather support a local.I phone ordered a set: a deadbolt and door handle/lock. These were items on display. They required I pay by credit card. When I came and picked it up, I found that the set didnt match! When I asked the manager he said that I have to deal directly with the person I ordered from by phone. When I dealt with him, he says he has to ask his manager.O.OUpdate: After some time... we were refunded.
