Very fun. I enjoy playing drafts on Fridays. It is fun.
Its got it all. Highly recommend. As well the couple of guys that work here are incredibly helpful.
I signed up to participate in a 40k GT event that the store was hosting. The store requested we submit a copy of our army that we would be bringing prior to the event. I misread when the list submission was due, but submitted in what I thought was the correct time frame. I also accidentally submitted the wrong list. When I noticed it was incorrect I contacted the person whom I thought was in charge (the person the store billed the tickets through) and asked for them to correct it. When I noticed the error remained during the week I reached out directly to the store who told me they would not allow me to use the correct list and I would have to play with the error even if it meant me not wanting to participate in their event. I responded to that same email asking to drop from the event and have a refund issued, after verifying that the event was not sold out and I didnt take anyone elses spot. The store, specifically the owner, has not responded to my email nor returned my later call, where I requested to have my money refunded.
Best place in town for minis, and Warhammer 40k. A little noisy during gaming days, making quieter games hard to engage in at times. Wide selection of books and supplies for a ton of other game systems including D&D and Pathfinder.
Though they dont have as good a loyalty program as Wizard Asylum does, they have a larger selection of games and items and much more floor space.
Huge store. But limit selection for as big as the place is. probably due to the pandemic. First time visiting there. Would visit again if in the area.
First, a tip: if you plan to or think you might spend $100 here in the next year, ask about the discount club. As I recall, it’s $10/year and gives 10% off purchases under $100 and 20% off purchases of $100 or more.I like this place a lot now that I’ve been going for years. I feel more comfortable in the shop and the game selection has improved over the last couple of years. New titles seem to lag behind online shops. I suspect that’s due to distributors, but I don’t know for sure. It’s important to keep local game stores in business so I wait patiently. The staff is pleasant, but doesn’t seem to be there to proactively help or make recommendations: I’ve wandered for a long time without an offer of assistance. Sometimes I want to wander; sometimes I would like some help. You won’t get help unless you ask for it. I wish the staff was more friendly and welcoming to unfamiliar faces. Also, the boardgames can be disorganized (see picture), but it is my preferred FLGS in Wichita.I know I did a lot of carping in this review, but it is a 5-star place and I want to see it here for the long-term. To paraphrase Terry Pratchett, a good game store is just a genteel black hole that knows how to play.
Excellent service, selection and staff. I have shopped and gamed here for over 7 years with no issues. Staff can come off a bit abrasive but usually it takes a lot of effort on your part to make this happen. 100% recommend.
Really enjoy going there. Great place.
We had been trying to work with the store to get involved with the yu-gi-oh community recently by having events there and highly encouraging supporting the store with their purchases even though they did not cary yu-gi-oh product they did cary other interesting stuff. After our last event they treated our tournament organizer with such disrespect and also calling our group stupid. After trying soooo hard to support the store so we could have another place for our 60+ people community I will no longer recommend them to anyone.
Great place, friendly staff and huge inventory of games both new and old. They also have great customer loyalty program.
The store has great membership benefits and I enjoy conversating with the staff.
Clean store. Great owner and employees. Fun games and good times!
I always find something worth the trip when I go here!
Even though I qualify for an exemption, Hero Complex would not let me shop in their store without a mask citing that they make accommodations under ADA because they make deliveries to your car. However, they do not have their merchandise listed on their website, and, when I called in, Jim refused to email or text me pictures of all the games in their store due to lack of capability. Therefore, I am unable to make a purchase without entering the store, and they are not making reasonable accommodations.
Everyone at Heros is always the best. Amazing service, great atmosphere, welcoming to customers and players. Favorite game shop in town!
Plenty of game space.
My oldest loves this place. Hes 22,no girlfriend, hes shy,a nerd and a virgin. Someone...please help! I think hes addicted to magic the gathering.
It is a nice little store and gaming area for those into D and D, warhammer or any other game like that. They sell figures, sets, cards and other things. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a little basic in the decor, but it is still a good store. Also, they have a lot of gaming tables for anyone who wants to bring their stuff and play there, and its free for anyone...as long as theyre not having tournaments. Give them a try.
Place is pretty legit. Pricing is fantastic abs if you get the membership its even better. Lots of fantastic items
Decent selection of minis and games. Selling point is the table space to.play with friends.
A raucous place when I went inside. Gaming tables took up most of the space, and a dearth of gaming paraphernalia took up the rest. Minimal staffing for the retail side, but the displays are well organized and easy to navigate. Numerous items that cater to the tabletop and card gamer youll be hard pressed to find anywhere else in Wichita. Phones and questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. If you need tabletop gaming supplies or a place to engage in them then this may quickly become your favorite place.
This store has the biggest selection of miniatures Ive ever seen. Plus the gaming tables & set ups are endless. Looks like a great place to play MTG/D&D/or whatever your geek is
Great selection, tons of gaming space, yearly membership DEFINITELY worth it. Love shopping here!
Super nice staff. Cool stuff for purchase
Great selection of table top gaming supplies. We went in to get paint for some D&D minis and walked out with spell cards and a Munchkin booster pack as well. There seemed to be many groups using the space for various games. Seems like a lively place to make some gaming friends.
They have a varied and interesting selection of board games but the pricing is rather high - sometimes higher than MSRP. Staff was friendly enough.
Can be the a great place for Magic cards even tho they have a small selection. Events held here are one of the best in town. Staff is always friendly.
They stock a lot of things you cant find in other local game shops. Great place to pick up a mini or dice. They also have a nice board game selection.
Hard to recharge your electronic gaming stuff without bringing an extension cord from home but they are pretty chill about you bringing in a cord. 👍 overall they are pretty relaxed and awesome prices. Support our little guys these deserve it.
AWESOME! Great prices and Impressive selection for Magic the Gathering cards. It looked like they same could be said for pretty much any and all gaming supplies you could possibly imagine. They have huge wooden tables and chairs always set up and ready for gaming, making models, looking at cards, or anything else you want to do AND they have perfect hours for gamers to just hang out, play group games, build stuff, etc. They have snacks and a soda vending machine. The people that work there are super helpful, patient, and they dont seem to care if you ask a million questions. I love this place! I mean, if I lived in Wichita my family would probably never see me unless they came with me to hero complex. Lol, just kidding.... kind of.
Awesome store! They have just about everything for your table top needs. Even have a bunch of tables to come play there and host tournaments there. They have several tabletop games you can try out before you buy it. Prices are about average for anywhere else but its great to support local business.
If youre under the age of 40, or wear dark clothing, dont bother going to this store. The staff will treat you like a criminal. I walked in with the intent to purchase a couple hundred dollars worth of magic the gathering cards, but upon entering I was greeted with yeah, what do you want. After that I browsed for a few minutes and was being watched as though I was going to steal. Not cool guys, Ill take my business elsewhere.
Hero Complex is an amazing game store. The employees are polite and knowledgeable, the selection is quite diverse and they have plenty of room for gaming. If you like card, board or roleplay games, I definitely suggest you go here.
A great place to play some D&D or any other tabletop game. It also has one of the most welcoming and friendly communities when it comes to magic the gathering.
HUGE selection of minis and second best selection. Of dice in town. Tables are excellent for table top gaming and nothing beats the guy running the show.
Always have had a good experience here. Really excellent game selection.
Lots of gaming room. Excellent variety of gaming supplies. Kind of an unfriendly vibe though.
Excellent place, staff here are much friendlier than some other gaming stores.
Prices are high relative to Amazon but a membership saves you a decent amount on large purchases.
Not too bad of a place only complaint is the staff needs to be a bit more friendly and talk to their customers a bit more
Great place. Friendly people. Good selection of all the stuff I went in to check out.
Love this place great place to get all kinds of tabletop gaming accessories! Good prices too.
Hello nice so i can play alone without my mom but some lebels i cant finish. bad ice cream 3 best goldy games at hudgames
I was surprised at how much stuff these guys have. A wide variety of games and accessories. Big space. I really like it there.
I consider myself a hero and I have a complex I saw none of those things in that establishment there was no heroes with complexes there, why do they call it hero complex. Sheesh Im taking my trained hamster and gerbil companions and go someplace else..
Great selection. Dude at the register was helpful and got me a 20% discount. Reccomend if you need a boardgame same day
The place its a little pricey for some items, but not too bad. Very nice staff and surroundings. Plenty of tables to play on and lots of products to choose from.
Good selection and friendly staff.
I liked the fact that there are games there. But they arent just right there. You have to really look. Other than that it was quite fascinating.
Huge store, lots of play area and features a large selection of hobby goods outside of just cards and miniatures. The owner does not seem knowledgeable about Magic the Gathering as he referred all business with it outside of cash transactions to an associate. Overall I highly enjoy this energetic clean large store and look forward to every large event they host
Best game store in town. Competitive place to play Magic the Gathering and a variety of other games. Id recommend it to anyone looking for a new board game or a friendly place to hang out and learn something new.
Has a lot of RPGs based table top games and accessories, but I wish it was larger and had more material. I want to see more D&D books and items, more MTG displays...make me nerd out when I walk in! Oh and my daughter wanted to see more pokemon items though I told her it wasnt as popular anymore.
A great shop. Lots of variety of games. Helpful staff. Fun events.
A great shop. Lots of tables and great selection of games. I always try to stop by when Im in town.
My favorite FLGS, they have a great member discount program too!
Some of the prices are spot on, some of them are outrageously high. I like to support local, so if they have a game I want and its within $6 or $7 of what I could get it elsewhere, Ill pick it up. If youre an RPG or tabletop gamer, they have huge tables for you to play at and they sell typical geek snacks as well. Ive never gone in and had someone behind the counter be friendly or be able to talk board games, but the selection is good and they often have what Im looking for if I cant find ir somewhere else.
Great LGS to stick up on what you need. They have a vast selection of board games and so much more. Action figures that will meet anybodys tastes. They also recently stocked up on D&D minis and dice.. So you better beat me there.
Huge shop with a very wide selection as well as lots of tables for gaming. Great and helpful staff as well.
A very chill place. Everytime you go in there will be some form of game being played on the tables in the building. Fast straight forward service and if you are looking for something they dont have they will check their distributors to see if they can get it for you. I could not recommend this place enough!
Solid local game store with an excellent selection. The place was drawing a solid crowed for Friday Night Magic the last time I was there, but that was in 2015 or 2016 so youll probably want to contact the store to see if theyre still running those kinds of events.
Best place in town for hobby level table top games (board games). Also supports a strong role playing and Magic the Gathering community.
Honestly, I tried not to write this post. Mainly, I enjoy this store for the amount of product they have. This store should not be listed as a magic store. One guy knows what hes talking about, but he talks down to everyone like hes the magic overlord. The other guys that work there have no idea what anyone is talking about with magic. The selection on singles is small for whats in the cases and if you ask anyone for help they get upset like you are inconveniencing them. I live right by this store, and I prefer to drive all the way across town to Mana Vault or Wizards Asylum. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. The disrespect at this place is just Staggering.
The premier gaming store in Wichita. I play here every other Saturday and by far and away the best place to hold game night. I drive from derby just to hang out here. If u want it they probly have it, and if not they can order it for you. This place is worth a visit or 200.
Great employees. Very knowledgeable about board games. Host a bi monthly board game group. Also good tabletop selection
Best game shop in town by far! Great selection and knowledgeable people
Great place!! Had everything we needed with great service. Plus they were very kid friendly!!!
Great range of product. Very nice looking place to play. Support your local gaming stores.
Great place to buy games and gaming accessories. Friendly employees always willing to help. You can even sign up to play games here some nights
The owner is very helpful and showed my wife and I exactly what wed need to get into a new hobby.
Hello. I am writing this review in light of my recent experience at Hero Complex. Physically the store looks amazing with tons of comics, toys and other hobby items. So why the one star rating? Customer service. The clerk was snarky, rude, cynical and treated me as if we were brothers of some sort and not as if I was a paying customer. In the midst of a Magic tournament I was participating in as a customer, the clerk repeatedly ignored me and prioritized presumably his regulars over me. I drove all the way from Hutchinson to play a game a love, and the Magic players were great men and women the ones running the show were very rude. They couldve had a customer in me willing to make the drive but I will not be supporting this business ever again!
Wide variety of table top games. There is almost always groups playing on the provided tables and tournaments going on.
They are very nice quick to answer questions and they dont hoover over you as you look around.
Great place to get with friends and family and play a variety of games.
Their P3 paint prices seem to constantly be on the rise along with the rest of their merchandise. The staff are friendly in slow times but if you come on a Friday night Magic event, expect to wait until everyone is settled before you can buy anything.Pros about this place are that its very large so you have plenty of space to game or do as you please. They dont carry yugioh last I checked but they are your one stop shop for Magic The Gathering. If you like tabletop miniature gaming then this is also the place for you. Come and nerd out. They also carry a variety of snacks.
This place is fantastic. Excellent selection of tabletop rp games, lots of dice and miniatures. Good prices. They also host local gaming groups.
Great location for tabletop gamers looking to meet up and start a group. Several Large tables available for gameplay. Warhammer, Magic the Gathering, D&D, plus many more are played regularly. Good game selection for sale, along with accessories and gaming resources. If youre a tabletop gamer youll find what you need here.
Incredible place. Great staff. Awesome!
I run a passionate gaming group of five friends that play everything from Twilight Imperium to Android: Netrunner. We usually buy a new board game every week, and have recently moved to the Wichita area.We all really wanted Hero Complex to be the new hub for our group, where we could spend hours every week and hundreds of dollars every month. Unfortunately we have yet to have a good experience in this store. Usually we are totally ignored by staff when we walk in. The atmosphere is very tense and awkward.Recently we came to the store to buy a $90 game which was on sale online for $70. I was not expecting a local game store to match that price, but I thought I would ask to see if any discount at all could be done. I would have been happy with a measly $5 off, or even a polite: Oh no, Im sorry we cant do that!. Instead my wife and I got a gruff and condescending lecture about how they dont get the game any cheaper just because it is for sale online. The entire experience made us feel unwelcome in the store. Our game group will not be returning to this store, but are hopeful that a FRIENDLY Local Game Store will open up in Wichita in the future so that we can start supporting our favorite local business again.
Friendly and great prices. The owner does a fantastic job. Always a game to join.
Very friendly and helpful staff, large selection of various games, and a much larger play area for Tabletop and TCG than most places in Wichita. Location is very nice as well, as you have several options if you opt to eat before or after a visit that are steps away.
Place is nice, employees seem ok but on first visit seemed pushy. I do think they have a great selection of Warhammer and a small selection of MTG. Id go here for a casual game seeing as they have the space but for a serious battle Id probably seek somewhere else due to attitude.
Helpful staff with a wide selection of games. Board games, card games, module games and rp games. Clean atmosphere with a variety of gaming tables to play at as well.
Great place to unwind and have fun. Everyone including customers are nice.
Great selection of games, especially popular miniature skirmish types like Warhammer and Warmachine. A lot of board games as well. RPG section isnt as deep as it could be. Of course, Magic the Gathering is supported.Lots of table space for playing games and there is no charge, so very good for building community. Also, they provide lots of terrain for use when you play at those tables.Friendly staff that supports your events on their own Facebook page if you set it up with them.Criticisms:Board games are sort of crammed onto the shelves so browsing them isnt as easy as it could be. But limited space, what can you do?The interior is boring, theres no real attempt to create a fun or relaxed atmosphere. Mostly blank walls and office lighting. Could maybe get with a fun interior decorator to make it really feel good to walk in.
Best Game store in town. The owner is a very stand up guy and never over charges for anything. He always puts his product at Msrp and has a great selection of games, magic cards, and collectibles. The magic judge here is very knowledgeable as well and the Mtg events always have the best prize support in town.
Very interesting. Employees informative.
I love their table space for playing games and D&D. I wish they had a bit more of a mtg selection at times though.
Lots of tables for playing games and a good selection of games available to buy, including tabletop accessories.
Easy to find things. Friendly people. Great gaming tables. Good prices.
Best place in town for gaming whether its tabletop or Magic The Gathering.
Great staff with a wide range of games and supplies.
Staff was friendly when we walked in, everyone was helpful and approachable as well. Theyve got the best selection in town for tabletop games and a great atmosphere overall!
The emviornment is chill, the store is clean and the prices are reasonable, what more can one ask for. Perfect place for your tabletop gaming addiction fix.
Great place, cover a huge selection of the hobby, had something for everyone. And the clerks are knowledgeable in their areas, and know who to ask if any person has the answers
Staff is always great. I highly recommend.
Great place to get family board games and they had a large selection
Like most game stores around here they have a limited selection of Battletech products. But they have more Mech miniatures than most of the local game stores.
