I had never purchased window treatments before, and I felt confident that I had picked the right place after my first meeting with Anne. She took her time, answered my questions and scheduled a meeting to come to my house and take a look at my layout. After I placed my order she kept me in the loop every step of the way --regarding shipping, delivery & installation. She worked with my budget and found the perfect fit for my space. The lovely woman that would often times answer the phone and greet me in the showroom warmed the experience as well. This team made me feel valued as their customer--that goes a long way. I got roller shades from Unusual Designs for my new construction home. Ann, also the owner, is very knowledgeable and showed me all the different types of shades. Didn’t know there were so many. She’s very accommodating with your needs but practical and honest as well. They can pretty much customize to any size as they come to your home to properly get measurements. Shades took about 3 weeks to come in and the team installed it immediately. The installers were also very professional and showed me how to use the app to coordinate scenes which made my life so much easier. They even stayed super late 10pm so that they can just get it completed for me that day. The shades are working just fine. I’m also glad I listened to Ann with the shades which blocked a lot of sun coming into my main great room. I have white couches and light hard floors which would turn yellow over time. I am getting more shades from her and will definitely go to her for all future custom shades or even curtain needs.
We have worked with Unusual Designs in the past, this was our third project with them. The Unusual Designs team is wonderful to work with. Anne Fitch (one of the owners) has a wonderful eye for design, aesthetics and how to maximize space. We had our master bath remodeled, Anne walked us through the process and listened carefully to what we wanted to do. One of the biggest problems with contractors, vendors, etc. is their lack of communication and follow up. Anne, invariably returned calls promptly and was always so very patient when we were going through the various design iterations. She never turned us over to her staff once we decided to proceed-she continued to be our primary contact. When dealing with large projects and multiple sub-contractors, something is bound to go in a different direction than planned; no worries here, problems were resolved promptly. Anne, and her contractors were always responsive; when they said they were going to do something, it was done. When they gave you an arrival timeframe (usually with in 2 hours), they arrived on time. There were a large number of workers in and out during this remodeling project, but they were always professional, courteous and treated my home as there own. If you are planning a project, I strongly recommend contacting Unusual Designs, you will not regret it!
I first used Unusual Designs (and Anne) for Hunter Douglas blinds in my new house. Anne was great to work with. She takes time to listen but also gets what you want from what you tell her and from pictures and seeing the location. She had perfect suggestions for my windows that were totally inline with my design style/taste. I was able to schedule appointments quickly and she was very responsive to emails. I am also now using her for additional design work for my house (rugs, furniture, drapes ... well, you name it, and well eventually do bathrooms and kitchen). She is so easy to work with and has a really good eye. She is also not going to ignore what you have or suggest something you dont need. Id highly recommend Anne and Unusual Designs if you need blinds or any design help!!

Anne, owner of Unusual Designs, did an outstanding job of showing us all Hunter Douglas options when we needed new window treatments for our master bath update. Unusual Designs showroom has a vast array of Hunter Douglas products and she demonstrated the operation of all of them to us (motorized, manual operation, etc.). Anne used her vast knowledge of the products and her experience to help us choose the proper motorized shutters, for both functionality and convenience, given their intended use on a bay window surrounding the built in bath tub and another window near the shower.She and her installer came to our home within two business days to accurately measure our windows and choose the proper color shade of white to match the window frames and trim.When the shutters arrived her installer had them up and working perfectly in the blink of an eye. I went to the showroom expecting to purchase vertical blinds, to replace my vertical blinds that were at least 30 years old. When I arrived at the showroom, I was in awe by the amount of different choices available for window coverings. The owner of Unusual Designs discussed with me the improvements that had been made over the decades. She was well aware of the rules and regulations of the building that I live in. I made the decision to purchase the Designer Screen Shades, I had many colors for the interior to chose from, making sure that the back of the blinds facing outside were white in color per building regulations.The owner arrived at my condo, with many samples and showing the differences of how much light would be allowed in depending on the privacy and lighting. She spent over an hour explaining the benefits of each fabric and style.I picked my style, she made measurements, and had the installer come in the next day to confirm the measurements because of the complexity of some of my windows and my sliding door.Within a week, they were in stalled. The installer was very professional, friendly and courtesy.I am very pleased with my blinds and I highly recommend Unusual Designs. And with loads of online wholesalers to choose from and books and books of fabrics and samples, Anne was able to provide us with so many great ideas. I never felt pressured to make a purchase.We ended up purchasing not only blinds, but rugs, occasional furniture, art, and mirrors. She also arranged for some custom reupholstering, cornices, and bedding. I love working with Anne at Unusual Designs! She has excellent design skills and very creative ideas. From furniture, rugs, accessories and window treatments she always brings the “wow” to make it look fabulous. Our gorgeous bathroom downstairs is the talk of the neighborhood when we host parties! I didn’t know what to do with a full bathroom downstairs that our guest would use as a powder room. I asked Anne to hide the tub and oh my goodness did she! You’re eyes can’t get past the the gorgeous fabric, fringe and sheers used along with the custom painted valance. The black and gold wallpaper is beautiful but the little chandelier sconces add such glam! The attention to detail and adding the extra special touches is one of the qualities I sincerely appreciate from Anne!

Very nice things are in the store besides window dressings. I went in looking for window dressings but ended up buying several things (furniture and decorative items) not on my list. I also bought my wood shutters and wood woven shades. Both Anne and Rachael were very helpful. Very customer oriented. I would recommend them highly. I’m sure something will catch your eye (an unusual design) that wasn’t on your list and you’ll end up buying it.

Our process of ordering our blinds was quick and efficient. Anne was very helpful in recommending specific products for our window concerns with solar gain and brightness. They even customized a waterproof shutter for our new walk-in shower that is perfect. The installer, Brian, was very experienced, efficient, and personable! The finished product is exactly what we envisioned! We recently had problems with one of the large blinds and Anne went to bat for us, resulting in us receiving a new blind to replace the defective one! But upon speaking with the owner, it was immediately clear that she was NOT interested in doing business with “my kind”.
