For all the people out there that do not know authentic guitars they are a great store And good people I’ve never not once Had an issue with there services or work clearly. The people that are reviewing bad on them I’m 18 and they’ve always done good work and I’m better then moats guitars. Out there so. You got a problem with the shop it’s probably because you guys have a problem with know knowinghow to shop properly and fix your own stuff. So don’t judge a shop. Knowing what there are doing cause they’re more successful then you. And most do get over yourselves
I recently came in for a setup on my Fender bass. Michael and his staff were super helpful and were able to get it done quickly at a reasonable price, even during this busy holiday season. The neck on the bass still has some issues, but I appreciated that they reached out to have me come by and play it before getting into more costly work. I would highly recommend them for any setup or repair work. Thanks again!
I live around the corner and thought Id check it out after a year. Ive played for 35 years now. Upon entering, I was not greeted and when I said hello, I got a grunt in return. Do not touch signs everywhere. Paltry selection, overpriced as well. Was never asked if I needed help. But the dude sure did hawk me the entire time I was there. Shops like this arent needed anymore and I have a hard time seeing this place even existing not too far in the future. Theres no reason to go there.
This is a great store with really great people. I have a pre-CBS Fender Jazz Master 1963. I just purchased and installed a new bridge. The Bridge has 6 post that each have several adjustments. After installing, my intonation was off. The Guitar was in tone on the 5th fret but not the 12th fret. Michael Hansen, the owner and Dave kept it over night and made several adjustments, including straightening the neck. This required cutting down a few of the TINY springs that support the posts. This guitar has been less than perfect for years; however, now it is great and they turned it around over night. If you are looking to fine tune your guitar or buy a new or used one, this is the place to GO!
Very knowledgeable staff. The store is packed with everything a beginner, or a polished professional musician would need.
I’ve bought two guitars and a handful of accessories and they’ve been excellent to work with. They’re always happy to take a guitar down so I can play it and see how it feels and sounds, and they keep a handful of quality amps available to test out guitars (as well as for purchase if the need arises).
Very nice selection of guitars. An abundance of music teachers are available to choose from.
Not greeted. The owner looked right at me as I walked in and said nothing. The person who rang me up at the register was polite, but the greeting really is the first and last part of the shopping experience.
I went in recently because of a problem with my bass guitar strap. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and they were willing to quickly fix my bass in the span of a couple minutes, free of charge because the underlying issue was so small. Ill definitely be coming back for any other guitar repairs or miscellaneous equipment I might need!
They were able to help me out replacing a cracked bridge piece.
Awesome store! Awesome teachers! Awesome staff! Awesome guitars! Highly recommended!!!
This is the gem makes me happy I live in a small town. Excellent consistent and knowledgeable staff. No, they arent a guitar supercenter, but they are more than willing to special order at extremely competitive prices. The music lessons that we have been receiving for the past three years have not just been instruction to the instrument but mentoring to the music industry.💫
My son and I went there last week. My son asked to play some guitars. The gentleman made us feel at ease. He played quite a few guitars the man pulled in our price range. We then left, ate some lunch, and talked. We decided to go back and buy the guitar he needed. I paid a fair price. If the store was busy, we would have come back another time. The gentleman asked us some questions to start off and then he went to work. My son played what he pulled. We did not pull anything. This guy will give good service if given the chance. Good experience overall.
I dont know anything about guitars but I want to take lessons and learn I walked into the store and The guy was with someone but he looked up and smiled so my co worker and I started looking around. When the gentleman behind the counter was done with the other customer he came over to us he was very nice helpful and informative he also listened to what I was trying to accomplish and showed me a variety of guitars that would suit my purpose he let me try them out and even showed me a smaller body guitar that was a perfect fit as I was trying to get my arm around the bigger bodyd one he also was helpful with getting me set up with a class. Thanks Mike you are awesome!
I came in looking for an electric guitar setup earlier this week. I had done prior research and was therefore able to articulate clearly what I was looking for, though I hadnt yet decided on the exact model(s). The staff were polite and let me try out several instrument + amp combinations, both used and new. Michael willingly took the time to adjust the intonation on a couple guitars that sounded off to a friend of mine who was with me. He listened first and responded to my description of what I was looking for with several options in my price range, and never tried to push or up-sell me. I left the shop saying I needed to think about it, and there was no push. After checking out more reviews online and a couple other places for alternatives, I drove back out to Williamsburg (about 30-40 min for me, despite closer shops) to give Authentic the sale, in thanks for their patient service. Michael carefully packed up everything, made sure I had all accessories I needed (giving me a cheap, mid, and premium option + explanation for each), and all the while did not pressure to close the deal as I browsed a bit more. Other staff chimed in with helpful comments. I also left with a gift certificate for a free lesson at their studio, which I plan to use. Thanks for the great experience!
Very nice shop. Also sells Autoharps. A great instrument for those, like me, with very slow moving fingers for a guitar.
Smaller shop. Nice selection of instruments and books. Ive had work done on my mandolin. Did a nice job. When I didnt like the strings they had on hand, they offered to order the ones I do like so the next time I restring, Ill have them. Gratis. I also take lessons there. The teachers are independent and paid separately.
Great people, good selection (new and used), fair pricing.
The unfriendly staff ruined the whole experience for me. It seems that if you arent buying anything you arent welcome in their store. Both the owner and his employees were rather disagreeable once they figured I was just browsing. I didnt even take down any of the guitars (I felt too uncomfortable to ask). In contrast, a wealthy looking older man was met with politeness and service with a smile, whereas I (a poor highschooler) was treated with contempt. I am never going back.
Taking Uke Lessons with Caleb. I have actually improved over the few months since I started. I highly recommend. Thanks Caleb
Violin lesson was good. Teacher was very nice
Pretty good service but all aim to get you to buy something at a higher price than you could get it online
Purchased many guitars, effects pedals, and amp here. Never had any issues. Good quality and a good prices.
Top quality guitar store - for all stringed instruments. Lessons for guitar, mandolin, violin/fiddle, banjo, ukulele, by excellent instructors!
Great teachers and support. Love seeing the amount of kids that are interested in learning music
Went in to get guitar restrung. Staff was awfully unfriendly and told me they couldnt do anything. Before I left the owner tried to loosen my strings after telling me how badly I had restrung it as he broke the first string he adjusted and only offered a pitiful sorry. Did not even offer to restring the single string he broke. HORRIBLE STORE
Nice locally owned business. Friendly people. They sell and service guitars and other stringed instruments.
Top notch guitars and the staff are true pros. Best in Williamsburg!
Very helpful staff. Reasonable prices and great knowledge.
Its a nice retail space in a nice area. None of the nice electric guitars, the higher end ones, are on display. On display they have a bunch of Squire products which I am NOT interested in. So I asked where they keep the nice vintage stuff and I was handed a binder full of pictures of guitars and told that they would bring them out for me if I was interested. I dont go to a guitar store to look at pictures of guitars. I guess they get a lot of tourists in this place. You know people who actually like to touch all the guitars, perish the thought. LoL. So I left.
Mike and his staff are always there to help and have never let me down. Whether its a restring or a bass repair they have always done their job with excellence.
Staff was very impolite and was very touchy about trying out guitars. My friend was playing a super cheap guitar that was sitting out to be played, and the person running the store literally took it out of his hands. He was constantly pacing around making us very uncomfortable. They never once asked if we needed help, or greet us. We even purchased expensive bass, guitar, and banjo strings. You would think even a paying customer would get a better experience. The selection was average at best, and they did have a few nice martins, but overall this was a very sub-par experience and I would highly suggest not wasting your time.
This is the only place I will take my guitars to have service done the customer service is always great and and the knowledge is spot on if that’s not enough the cost is excellent especially for Williamsburg
Poor selection of acoustic guitars. If that wasnt enough to make you go elsewhere the elderly woman in the store was simply obnoxious to my daughter. You just lost a big sale.
I have brought in multiple guitars for repairs/modifications, and each time the service is fast and of great quality.
Love this place. They are great for help
Went looking for Dunlop electric guitar strings......found an attitude first! Then the owner tells me Dunlop does not make guitar strings.....Really!? Lol there in every guitar magazine out. Infact Kerry King of Slayer plays them. Nice job deush!
We have been there twice...once last year this same time, and today. Last year we walked in, were not greeted, and when my daughter barely touched a guitar (no exaggeration, her fingers brushed the strings) the man behind the counter barked at my wife to pick my daughter up while in the store (she was almost 2). Today? Very little difference. No greeting, small selection of a few Fender, Ibanez, and, Martin with some Samick thrown in.. Best part? The same man as last year hawked me through the entire store!!! Never asked if I needed anything, never said a word, just followed me around like I was about to wreck the place. They even have a room here that states All customers must be accompanied by management in this room. I have serviced guitars that cost more than what was in that room. Seriously, there is zero good to this store. Appalled at the bad treatment and poor stock.
Rude customer service, the owner basically doesnt let you play guitars unless youre going to buy it. It cost me $65 to get a basic setup, which is absurd. You cant look at anything without being followed like a hawk. Crappy selection too.
This store rocks! Super selection and a repair department that is second to none!
Great service and excellent guitar teacher, Kim.
Friendly staff inviting you to look about.
Nice people and instruments
Kim was helpful polite and professional
Was not really impressed
Disappointed. Lackluster service from the moment I walked in the door + overpriced merchandise = I go elsewhere.
Friendly helpful staff.
Best store
Great music shop
You need to check this place out.!!!!
