Jan 21, 2020. Ordering from Indochine Express I noticed that Takeout Centrals menu prices were $2-$6 more than the menu prices on the restaurant website. I cancelled my order. I did a comparison, and the difference was over $40!!!! $81 (with tip) to pickup, $123 (with tip, service charge, delivery fee). This is blatant price gouging. $40 in Takeout Centrals pocket, not for the Indochine Express. Beware, Beware, Beware!

If I could give them no stars it would better reflect their poor customer service. I placed a order late Friday evening and not only did it take over a hour to deliver but when it arrived the food was NOT eatable and I had to throw the food out. I called on Saturday morning and explained in detail why I could not eat the food and it was a honest, legitimate complaint. I certainly would not have called had I been able to eat the food that I paid $26 for. The customer service guy was very rude and said that he did not think there was anything he could do to refund the order because I did not call the night before. I could not call them on Friday evening to place the complaint because it was after their closing time posted on their website of 10PM. Their customer service guy said they are still in the office after closing time and I should of called the night before. How on earth would anyone know that they could be reached after their official closing time. I asked him to at least try to help with the refund. He said he would discuss with his Manager and either he or his manager would return my call later in the day. No one called on Saturday so I had to called again on Sunday morning. Finally the manager called back late Sunday afternoon and I was told nothing could be done and the refund would not be issued. Its simply not the way any customer should be treated!There are a lot of food delivery services in Wilmington that offer GREAT customer service with better delivery & service fees with a better selection of restaurants.

Horrible service, be careful, they charge $5 - $6 more as on the actual Indochine menu, on the checkout you will realize that the delivery is also $2 more.I requested a refund, because the food they delivered was unacceptable. They offered me free delivery for my next order... !?!?!?

EDIT: The owner refunded my order and resolved the situation. They were very accommodating and explained that new employees were working during the shift when I ordered and a few things in the process were mixed up. Very polite and clear about the entire thing!Charged twice for my order. I went to the website, selected to pay in cash and needed to call to confirm my order. The employee over the phone said that they needed to register debit card numbers on the website for new customers, even if the payment was in cash. I was skeptical, but just wanted food at that point. I paid the driver in cash, including the tip. A few days later I noticed that they charged me again on my debit card. Called customer service and they havent answered. Probably going to cancel my card and order a new one, since they also asked for the CV on the back. Only used this service because Im visiting home temporarily and dont have access to a reputable service like Grubhub.

I hate to rate so low, but I’ve been using Surfside Express for several months. At first I was very pleased with the service, and the user friendly website. However, the last 3 tines I’ve used the service have been terrible experiences. I waited an hour and 45 minutes for my last order and they refused to refund my money or make it right. The time before that, I was given the wrong food and offered to solution to make it right. And the final time, the driver was a smoker and my food smelled and tasted like smoke so I had to throw it away. They refused to refund my money. So, sadly I will no longer use Surfside. Terrible customer service.

We were given a delivery window of 657-707p but our food arrived at 7:40p. We asked our driver for a receipt and he didnt have one. We contacted the restaurant and they informed us our total for the food plus tax was $53. When ordering through this service it cost $75! It states there is a delivery fee of $4.99 but no where does it state the huge mark up of the food. We ordered three meals. We found out that $4-6 was marked up on each meal we ordered in comparison to the what the restaurant charges. This makes this service extremely expensive in comparison to its competitors due to its 30% surcharge in addition to the $4.99 delivery fee! I will not use this service again. I reached out to Surfside and was given the run-around. I was told the owner would get back to me but they never did. Sounds like others have had the same issue with costumer service.I called the restaurant I ordered from to inform them of the issue with the huge mark up .They were unaware. Just as someone else suggested, I could recommend this company improve their costumer service and take another look at their mark up policy. It isnt industry standard.

I gave this company one too many tries that is for sure... I thought it was simple and easy.. EVERYTHING is over priced on their website so they can make money from each item. Then they charge a delivery fee... For something SO over priced you would think they would try to get the orders right. Nope! They have messed up order after order, after order. They dont bring items that you over pay for, AND they also bring you the wrong items.. EVERY TIME! They do not try to fix their mistakes. I will NEVER order from this over priced company again.

Great first experience? Sitting at the hospital tired of walking the halls and cafeteria food. Had seen banner at Tazys and decided to try so ordered from hospital very easily and was delivered faster than said. Food was warm, drinks were cold. If I lived in Wilmington it would be a bad habit. Definitely will use again!

Sadly, I have ordered my last meal from Surfside. I try very hard to support local businesses and have been a consistent repeat customer, despite the fact that EVERY SINGLE order I receive from them is incorrect. We just ordered again tonight and the order was, again, incorrect. Sometimes, the restaurant bags it incorrectly, sometimes, as tonight, the add-on drinks from Surfside are incorrect.It doesnt really matter. When I am paying a delivery fee AND an increase on the restaurants price, I expect my order to be correct. I will be using their competition from today forward. They dont have as many restaurants, but the order is always correct.

I RARELY rate this low. Here is why I believe the services I received from this company deserves only 2 stars. I’ve used the “other” service for quite some time but wanted to give this one a try. The website was easy to use (it’s self explanatory). I placed my order and waited. I was notified about 20-30 mins later my food was picked up by the driver and headed my way. AN HOUR LATER I began looking for the contact information on the page to find out what happened to my driver? I can understand with traffic 30 minutes MAYBE 40 but an hour!? As I was writing the email the driver knocked on my door and delivered my food. My food was no longer warm but luckily it was a salad (the chicken tinga? Whatever it’s called is amazing but best served warm) so not a huge deal. Had I ordered anything else I would have been more upset than I was. No contact from the driver explaining delays nothing. Just contact once I received my food that it was delivered. I do not believe a delivery from time of pick up to drop off should take an hour. That was my experience.

I used to love ordering from Surf Side Express. The prices have always been higher than the actual menu prices for each restaurant, but the convenience of delivery always outweighed the cost. The past few times I ordered delivery, it took well over an hour to receive my food. 2 weeks ago, I ordered food after a long 8 hour drive back home and the food never came! They dropped it off at the wrong house; rather than giving me a free meal, they offered to discount it. This was after waiting 90 minutes. I will never order from then again!

He doesnt want to show you the itemized receipt of your order. The delivery people are told to pull off the those receipts before they give you the food. They will give u your signed credit card receipts but they do not want to hand over the itemized ones. Its bc he jack up your order 25% before the $5 or $7 delivery fee. Then you gotta tip the delivery guy. What starts out as a $10 meal from Chickfila will in the end cost you $17.00. Tell them you want to see the itemized receipt of your order and youll see. I understand people pay for convenience, and Im not saying their crooks, Im only telling you this so you can understand why your order is higher than you planned. But I think the way they want to hide the receipts from the person who is paying for it, shows he had little integrity and says something deceitful about him. The menus/prices on his website doesnt reflect the inflated prices, you see an item for $10, you think your getting a $10 item with a $5.00 delivery fee. Its not like that. Just be informed.

I have order from them several time, however now that I am looking at things they over charge for your items and then charge you a delivery fee. Was looking to order from Mellow Mushroom tonight for dinner and the pizza I was looking at was 16.00 when I pulled up the menu at Mellow Mushrooms website it was 13.00 thats 3 dollars more then what it cost. Then the company charges a 5 dollar charge for delivery so if I was to actually order I would have a whole other meal for what they would charge me. Never again will I ever order anything from this company. I understand a delivery charge but not the jack up of the prices. If you want to have a good business then you have to be fair. Its not fair to charge more for the food just because you are delivering it not when you charge a fee to do that service. I am just wondering how legal this is! Everything Ive ordered from them the order is messed up, I have a allergy and when i asked for that item to be removed in the past it wasnt, they need to be glad I didnt sue considering I ended up in the doctor because of it.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE 03/27/19- I ordered via Surfside because the Door Dash options that deliver to my job were not appealing. For the first time, Id venture to say, EVER, my order was 100% correct. It arrived piping hot, with a smile, and in a timely manner. I had to change my previous 1 star to 3, because weve got a ways to go, but if everyone could be as awesome and thorough as my delivery driver was last Friday, I would easily choose Surfside over the others any day of the week. To my chagrin however, those fees are still a bit egregious, and my concern is, with all of the competition, they may be put out of business, if they dont consider reworking the upcharges. All in all, I was impressed with Fridays encounter, and can only hope it stays that way, should I have to order from them again.Update- Ordered on 10/10/18... against my better judgement. Our $50 order was messed up. I called to speak with a manager. All of my info was taken, but I never received a return phone call. Most likely our last order. Their customer service sucks and there are just way too many options now.Sometimes the order is messed up a lot sometimes, its just a little, but with the amount of inflation they add to the various menu items, its always so disappointing when request are mishandled. I enjoy the convenience but the customer service always falls short for me. My food has arrived wrong nearly all the time save for a few drivers that check my order for accuracy before departing from the restaurant(to which I am always grateful when that occurs). Work on the customer service aspect. I find when Ive called, Ive had to go through red tape to get a partial refund, though Ive ordered so many times with them. I would also focus on paying more attention to detail, and work on the mark-up of menu items especially since a lot of time, food often arrives cold, strewn about and sometimes wrong altogether. I feel with minor improvements, you may be able to turn It around for the better, improve the quality of service and meet the standards set forth by your competitor.

Their website is out of date. They do not confirm restaurants are open for ordering. I went through the entire ordering process twice tonight only to receive phone calls that the restaurants were closed. I authorized my credit card each time so now have to watch for charges for food I was unable to order. And the employee who called offered nothing more but a very insincere apology and asked me to order again. Why? So I can take another shot in the dark of who might be open?

The service is terrible and the owner jacks up prices higher than the actual menu cost at the restaurants and charges a $5 delivery fee?! The owner was also completely rude to one of my friends that ordered and she never got reimbursed for her messed up order even though the owner said he sent it to her. If you call him out in a Facebook review he lies and says the restaurants charge him extra but they actually get a discount on the food. Dont order and line the pockets of a dirty business! I use Cape Fear Delivery since they opened and I will never use this bs ripoff service again.

I have used them a few times and know that it takes about an hour no matter what you get. This time it took an hour and a half, and I called them after the 1st hour to see what they wanted to do. I barely get an apology, and was told that I had been called was left a voicemail. They had to have called me the same time I called them because it didnt show up until after I hung up. So 30 minutes after that the food shows up.....COLD!!! The voicemail said it would be at my house soon and hot, but clearly not. Wasted money and lost business!!! Im ready to see Uber Eats take over!!!

DONT USE THESE PEOPLE!!!!! recently my friend whos blind ordered from them and they ripped her off! for the food she ordered they said it would be $53 for her food which when i put it in on the web site came up to $42 then when the driver came he said it would be $56 then the driver didnt have any change and he was yelling at her when she asked for change so the driver took $60 from her and never returned with her change ..this is terrible how do you treat disabled people like this or anybody period disgusting!!!

They STOLE money from me. After their driver was an hour and a half late, 4 phone calls, and 3 emails, I FINALLY got in touch with the owner 2 weeks later. Apparently managers dont have any authority to do anything without his approval, but hes never there. Thought the definition of manager was someone who manages. The owner told me hed give me a refund, and that the delivery charge was already refunded. I never got the refund, and a month later I found the $5 delivery charge taken out of my account again. I havent ordered from them since hat incident. Its unsettling to know they can access your credit cards WHENEVER the hell they feel like it and charge whatever they want without an order. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DELIVERY SERVICE. All youll get is fraudulent charges, ignorant employees yelling at you, and the hassle of canceling credit cards

Company called me tonight after placing order and told me that Baba Ghannouj was almost 19 miles from my house. Google mapped it at just over 9 miles. And then the person on the phone told me they would no longer deliver any restaurant unless it was within 10 miles and over $100 order. I have been ordering once per month since February 2012 and will not order again.

Margaret had the worst costumer service I have ever experienced. Not to mention when our food arrived the dough in the calzone was raw. I spoke with mellow mushroom and they were very friendly, apologetic, and accommodating. When I called surf express to let them know the problems with our order, l spoke to Margaret again who snapped no refunds. Needless to say I will no longer be a costumer of surf express. We were great costumers, but can not give my business to a business whose employees could care less about their costumers are rude, dismissive and no interest in solving the problem. Margaret was the only one I have ever had a bad experience with but it was bad enough to never return. Go pick up your food yourself save your $!

The last two times I ordered, the food was extremely late. The first time I was told the driver forgot something for the delivery before me at the restaurant. Last week, they told me the driver got a flat. Im not sure why they didnt dispatch another driver. Neither time did they give me a coupon or a break. I paid full price for below-par service. I will use Cape Fear Delivery from now on.

I ordered from Jersey Mikes: meatball sub, cookie, sundrop. Surfside was more than 30 min LATE, they did not deliver the cookie, I got a hot sundrop in a can, and the meatball sub was cold, the bread was soggy and my dinner was ruined. I spent over $200 using Surfside and they always leave something out, and are always way late with my food. I tried to call them 5 times after leaving messages and they have not called me back. I cant go get food myself due to handicap.

And to top it all off she gave me the wrong number to call back. I have yet to receive my food but so far off to a bad start...
