Its in Delaware so its more of a restaurant than a typical diner you would find in New Jersey but that doesnt stop it from serving great diner food. Great service as soon as you enter. Well prepared food just as ordered. I stopped by for a quick breakfast and ordered a bacon and cheese omelet with well done home fries. It was perfect. Tender omelet and crispy home fries and a side of sausage. Just what I ordered. Prices are average and food above average so stop by for a bite!
We came to celebrate a birthday and our party of four all had a great brunch. We also all opted for breakfast food because, um, its breakfast food!! Gotta love it! Anyway, I had an excellent broccoli, tomato and cheddar omelet with rye toast and grits - and added a side of bacon. Besides the fact that it was too much food for me, it was great. My husband had eggs, sausage, potatoes, and a short stack of french toast. The potatoes were a high point for all the diners. Our only critique would be that the bacon could be more flavorful and crisp, and the french toast was a bit on the dry side. But we will absolutely plan to visit again at some point.
I had gotten there about 15mins before they closed at 8pm. They welcomed me in with no hesitation. I got a cheese steak with fries and a small bowl of chicken noodle soup oh and a Pepsi with one refill. It came to $15.??. The meal was very good. Cheese steak was great not greasy. Very satisfying. the fries were nice and crispy and a large portion. The soup was delicious. For a small bowl it had good quantities of carrots, noodles and nice chunks of chicken. The waitress was very nice German woman who was very friendly the owner/manager was very inviting but, not pushy the service was on point. That was the experience I expect going to a diner. Relaxed, courteous and reasonable prices. Im heavily thinking about going back today! Beat diner Ive been to in a while.
As always the staff members were great. Our waitress was helpful and attentive, checked in multiple times and kept an eye on refills. Manager always helps out during busy times and the waitresses are all wonderful.

This place is always good! The owner is a sweet man. Can be busy and when it is you just have to ask for a little more attention payed to details. Thats the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5.

My very first order, called to make sure something I ordered wouldnt have cheese on it. No one answered the phone. I dialed and re-dialed over and over and over and over and never got a hold of anyone. After about 5 rings, it goes to voicemail. The mailbox is full, wont let you leave a message and tells you to please hang up.One heck of a first order impression. If this is how customer service works at this diner, then theyve already lost any future orders from me.

The food was delicious and cheap so a great places to come on the weekend. We had a waitress who seemed very impatient and asked us 3 times in five minutes if we were ready to order right after we sat down. She took our orders quickly and a friend wanted cheese on her eggs but he waitress walked away quickly and when we asked her to add it when she did come back around she audibly sighed and walked away. She never came to check on us after the food was brought out. After we got the check she did apologies about her behavior but it was after the fact. I know that being a sever is one of the hardest jobs there is, but this was a very strange interaction. Coming from customer service myself, this is not how you behave, even if you’re having an off day.
Decided to try out the diner. Ordered a simple meal, 3 egg omelet with home fries. The taste of the food is very bland. The home fries had no seasoning.

This spot is the best breakfast diner around. We’ve been going here for years and it has literally never disappointed us. The portions are generous and the meals are always put together thoughtfully. The wonderful family who owns this spot is clearly hardworking and know good food!!After going here for breakfast for 2 years, we finally ventured out and began ordering from the lunch/dinner menu. Boy we were not disappointed! The sandwiches are commercial-worthy.To give you a few examples: a side of bacon comes with at least 6, thick-cut, full pieces (none of that measly transparent bacon from other spots); the breakfast omelettes come on a plate the size of a platter, complete with a full half plate of hashbrowns; the BLT is basically 2 BLT’s stacked (3 pieces of bread, one in the middle) and it comes cut into 4 triangle-shaped pieces which are each held together by a toothpick (it’s a thick sandwich); the carrot cake, which is beyond delicious, comes as a very generously portioned slice.The ingredients are always fresh. The people are always friendly.It’s a dream. I feel so grateful to have this spot so close by! They deserve all of the patrons, and some.

For a long time Wilmington was bereft of classic Diners. No more. The Route 3 Diner is a typical Diner but thats a good thing. It has a spacious place to eat, a large menu, and friendly staff. Its the perfect place to go when you have a group that wants different things.

Food was good. I thought a little pricey. Got a cheese omelet added onion and peppers it was more then my veggie omelet that had 4 vegetables in it. They charged extra for onions in the home fries. A little laced on their face mask wearing for their waitresses. Some would take their mask off before going back to get the food to bring to your tables. They did put them back on after they came out of the kitchen. Breathing on food they are serving concerns me just as much as breathing on me at my table.
Usually go here at least once a week. Always pleased. Decided to try takeout since we are homebound and havent been out in awhile. Was not disappointed. Both my wife and I had broiled seafood dishes and they were excellent. Still included soup or salad two sides and dessert. Generous portions as served in the restaurant. Cant wait to go back.

I started to eat at this diner from the first day it opened me and my husband really enjoyed the food and the staff but after about a year we stopped going completely due to food quality and the waitress were horrible talking about their private life and for everyone to hear but once they changed owners and got rid of the waitresses and since it changed to rt 3 we try to go every other day or when we can this is definitely the best diner around and the owner is such a nice man and very attentive to his customers he cares how your meal was and always has a smile and a nice word to say best of luck
Great food and quick service. It’s often busy but I’ve never had to wait more than 30 seconds to be seated. Asking for fruit instead of potatoes got me a bowl of fresh cut fruit that was better than what I got at the supermarket the day before. Much better than the average diner.

Another favorite diner, owned by the same owners as Marsh Road Diner. I live closer to Smileys so I am there more often. It is a great environment, clean, with very friendly staff. The food is made just how I order it, even with special requests. I have never had a bad meal here. I highly recommend them!
You cant go wrong for breakfast here. Always large portions and good, solid meals. The biscuits and gravy arent too bad considering this is not the south. Service is always friendly as well.

My husband and I go there almost daily for obvious reasons. Their specials are phenomenal especially their honey BBQ salmon. The atmosphere its pleasant and its very clean. Also, they offer a half of sandwich, cup of soup, side with your sandwich and dessert for $5.99 not to mention all the other ongoing specials.
Smiley’s diner good food, and always good service. Always clean and the staff is always happy to see you. This is a typical diner menu large with lots of items to choose from, breakfast served until 2:00pm (would be better if breakfast was all day). Portions are large but not expensive. My most recent visit their I ordered the cheeseburger deluxe $8.99 comes with French fries, slaw, pickle, lettuce tomato, onion rings, and bacon. More fries than I could eat the burger was great. The soup of the day is usually very good. Breakfast I usually get some type of omelet (my favorite breakfast meal) and they have a large selection to choose from. Lots of parking for the most part, but at the typical busy times the lot gets full fast. Just so you know you pay at the register. Handicap parking is right up front in front of the front door.This is where I think Google should increase the rating system for restaurants to 1 thru 10. To me this place is better than a 3 but not a quite a 4 (I am hard pressed on this system to give 5s) on a 1 to 10 this would be a 7.5.
They have a menu with a huge number of choices. The serving sizes are very large. So you will never leave hungry. Like many places that have a huge variety, they are better at some menu items than others. Their omlettes, soups, and salads are fantastic. If you have ever been to the Marsh Road Diner, the menu and quality is basically the same

The service good, but, the food very bad. the bread was burnt, the sandwich was badly cut, the sausage very dry. all ugly
We have been there several times before and it was fine, but yesterday we were told to sit at a table by a gentleman at the cash register. Then we waited and waited and waited....no server. What made it worse was the fact that people that came in after us were seated and were waited on in a timely fashion...got coffee and drinks AND the server took their meal order. We finally left after watching other tables getting their orders taken. We were very disappointed, but no one was even looking at our table. There was another couple that were seated at the same time we were and they also were just waiting like us.
Friendly atmosphere and good service. Menu is in line with traditional small diner food. Had a roast beef club. Large portion. Served with fries and coleslaw. The only reason for not giving 5 stars, the seating area needed to be cleaned up a bit. Probably short handed on help and it was later in the day. Its close and convenient and I will be back. Wish breakfast was served all day. Cut off is 2 PM for breakfast menu.

I was disappointed with Smileys. My sister and I had been on the road for 3 plus hours and we had that many more hours to travel. We both needed to stop at a clean, safe, and friendly environment to go to the bathroom. Being older ladies we each had our own personal issues in that area. As we went into the restaurant the 2 greeters could not be nicer and we were in a destination hurry. As we came out of the restroom, a lot more relaxed we were told where a table had been set up for us. My sister told both ladies, we had just come in to use their restroom. Their attitudes changed abruptly, one lady said and the other lady yelled, you are not suppose to use the bathroom unless you are eating here. I dont think the name smiles describes the attitude of the place. I believe, taking the age of these two women they would have understood our dilemma and would have been kinder and more sympathetic to us. I told my sister in the car, if they had been kinder I would have taken cash in to have paid for our meal, I did not do that because of their attitude.
