Place and vibe is adorable. They have a lot of options including vegan! I got the cherry with dark chocolate in a waffle cone. The gelato isn’t too thick, but still resembles ice cream. Delicious!

This plaslce is amazing. We came in on a hot day and were met with nice cool air and an amazing environment with seating that looked like Vespa scooters and fiat cars. The Gelato was smooth and delicious. I had the Sicilian pistachio and it was some of the best Gelato Ive ever had.

It was a wonderful surprise for us to find a little piece of Italy here, my family and I now know where to go when we feel nostalgic. The gelato taste really good, you feel that is the kind that is well made with real ingredients and not just flavor added. The espresso was dark and strong, like the ones you take in a Bar. I wish there were others around NC like this one. The young lady there was really kind and professional, we definitely will be back!!

It had been years and years since I,ve tasted gelato and almost forgotten how good it truly is. Anyone and everyone that knows me...will also know I am a sucker for ice cream and this is very close to it, with less fat and a creamier consistency. So, for the first time, my wife, son and I visited Gelarto while we were spending our Sunday in downtown Wilmington.FOOD: Medium cup (2 scoops) - 1 peanut butter and 1 Oreo cookies. The scoops are adequate in size and each one was packed full of flavor. With gelato having much less fat content than ice cream, this was a perfect dessert after we finished our lunch. The peanut butter tasted organic with all-natural ingredients. The PB flavor was nice and balanced; not too strong and the Oreo cookies gelato? Oh yeah. Loved it! For a guy whose kryptonite is ice cream...this may be another weakness I have succumbed to. Awesome flavors, creamy / soft consistency and nice scoops made this visit a very nice cap to the end of our day. SCORE: 5 STARS!!SERVICE: There was no one in line ahead of me when I approached the counter and was greeted promptly by Caroline. Caroline asked and offered up samples since we had never visited before and made me feel very welcome, without any pressure of being rushed. Her service was on point and the overall establishment was very clean and tidy. I have no recommendations nor did I witness any opportunities for improvement. Impressive. SCORE: 5 STARS!!OVERALL SCORE: Almost 15 years later, I may be hooked after tasting well-prepared gelato from Gelarto. The flavors and service are very much there and if you havent visited here yet...make it a point to try them out. The atmosphere and decor inside is badass too. 5 STARS!!

Ahhmazzing! Had a double - the honeycomb and salted caramel. Transported to gelato heaven while arching the sunset over the Cape Fear River.

Great gelato with a wide variety of selections. It has a European vibe to the store with a fiat 500 and vespas with license plates from different parts of Italy. The prices are reasonable as well compared to other options in the Wilmington area. Recommend giving this new place a try! Always great to support local small businesses.

One of the best gelatos I’ve ever had! Every time I go, I try a different flavor and I’m just in love with all of them. My favorite are passion fruit and nougat. Their coffee is amazing too!!! Perfect location at the boardwalk of downtown. The decoration is fun and vivid.Perfect place to enjoy a delicious cold treat with a view!

Nice place to be at. The coffee isnt the greatest but sure the gelato (ice cream) is. I just think is hard to believe they import gelato from Italy. Maybe some materials but not the whole thing.

Wasnt impressed. Travelled to Wilmington for a couple days by myself just to see it, go to the beach, etc... I walked in behind a family, who took their time and tasted several flavors...the employee was very friendly, helpful and informative with them. When I got up to the counter she was like a completely different person, no introduction or info (even tho I had never been there either). She didnt even wait for me to finish my transaction on the iPad before she went to the couple that had come in behind me...who she greeted, was friendly to and asked them if they wanted testers etc. I guess single people just dont matter as much. Gelato wasnt even anything special.

This place was my go to place for dessert up until tonight. I walked in not knowing if they were closed because people were inside in line being served and the sign said open. So I walked in by myself to get some gelato and the guy working said sorry man we’re closed. I asked why the sign said open and people were being served and he said “ yeah we’re closed I haven’t changed the sign yet.” I asked why the other people who also walked in late would be served but I wouldn’t and he just said sorry man yeah we’re closed. I definitely won’t be going back as that’s extremely unprofessional and rude.

I went after lunch one day with my family, absolutely love this place! Has an amazing environment and very enjoyable staff. Gelato is amazing and has a wide variety of flavors. Defilently recommend!

The interior was very cute and clean. I tried the tiramisu, my kids had sea salt caramel and mont chocolate chip....we loved them! Zero complaints on the taste.Minor drawback was an unavailable flavor....it was listed on the board, but there was none in the display for purchase.The attendant was super friendly and helpful! He was working a long line of customers all by himself, but he still gave us his full attention and didnt rush us along. We definitely recommend!

Super delicious gelato, absolutely wonderful coffee (I especially enjoyed the late night iced americanos!) and they’re open late. The real star here is their employees - some of the nicest, most helpful, energetic people we met in Wilmington. And the decor is super cool. Go go go! It’s so nice to eat some gelato while you walk the boardwalk!

This place is an absolute favorite for our family! My wife is a blogger/influencer and we shoot the majority of her content at various spots downtown...and Gelarto has become a mandatory part of every trip. When our son tags along, its hands-down his favorite part too!The store is really clean and well-maintained, the staff are extremely kind and friendly, the prices are beyond reasonable, and they have some of the BEST gelato Ive ever had. They also feature Vigilant Hope coffee, which is a local outreach ministry that makes great coffee and does incredible things for the homeless community in the area with the proceeds.I really cant say enough good things about this place, just make sure you dont pass it up on your next trip to the Riverwalk!

Delicious! So many amazing flavors to choose from, thankfully they were giving out samples. The barista suggested honeycomb (her fav) and it became my favorite! I ended up getting three scoops of different flavors but should have just gotten three honeycomb because I enjoyed it so much. The latte was also very tasty, so smooth and the prefect temperature to start consuming right away. The decor is so cute. Walking past the other ice cream shop that smelled sweet like the waffle cones being made was the best decision ever. Can’t wait to go back to Gelarto!!

Quality crafted gelato and the best affogato I’ve ever had

Our wedding ended up being a lot smaller than we planned so we decided to add some fun extras including GelaRto’s individual gelato pots for each of our guests. Nigel was so pleasant to work with and helped us figure out the best option for our group. The team delivered our gelato at the perfect temperature just before our cake cutting! The gelato was delicious and complimented our cake perfectly! Our guests are still talking about the extra touch of delicious, authentic gelato. They even delivered a hand written congratulatory card, which was super sweet! We will be back soon for more! 💖

At the northern end of the Riverwalk, this gelato store is a great place to get some yummy gelato then hang out and watch the river go by. Appropriate masking by the person in the store. You can taste the flavors if you wish. Limited seating in the restaurant. Contactless pay if you like. Nice stop on our walk on the Riverwalk.

Walking into Gelarto is like walking a into an authentic Italian gelato creamery on the cape fear river. Located in a brick building right downtown you are greeted the with the smell of gelato and a warm inviting atmosphere. There are many different flavors to choose from including all the classics in addition to some more unusual choices. The staff was friendly and accommodated us trying different ones before we picked. You can also buy Eurpoean candy and amazing baked goods! This is a perfect addition to downtown!

Love love the gelato from Turin Italy! It is definitely authentic. Loved the presentation and vivid colors. A feast for the eyes and the palate. The place is decorated with vespa scooter seats where you can sit on them while savoring your gelato. There is also the back of a cute little Fiat 500 if you choose to sit there instead. The owners are delightful and so friendly. You feel at home, transported to Italy. Daisy my little dachshund, made some friends while I debated on which flavor to choose. This place is a gem!
