An absolute delight of a place to stop in for homemade food to go or dine in after a walk on the nearby Windham Derry Rail Trail. Seasonal favorites. Breakfast and Lunch or grab a quart of the excellent daily selections of soup, Chowder or Chili for dinner at home. Fresh baked goods, warm tea and a selection of coffee awaits. The Country Store is a wonderful place to look for gifts or treats for yourself. The dining area is lovely with plenty of character and trinkets from New Englands past. Sit in bring a friend, loved one and be ready to meet new friends in this little corner spot run like you are family not a customer.
Great food with horrible customer service. My wife and I were excited to try this place out for the first time as we are new to town. Upon ordering I mentioned a tomato allergy to the cashier and she proceeded with placing our order. Our first two items were Italian wedding soup bowls which we took outside while we waited for the rest of our order. When I opened the lid to the soup I noticed it was a tomato broth. I brought the soup back in and was greeted by Kay, the owner. I told Kay that I mentioned I was allergic to tomatoes and that the cashier did not mention anything about the Italian wedding soup (which I have never seen with tomato product until this experience). Kay looked at me and said, “Is their someone you can take this home to?” Surprised by her question, I said (truthfully) that I will be running errands throughout the day and will not be home for some time.Kay then said, “So you don’t make Italian wedding soup with tomato product in it?” Surprised yet again by Kay’s response, I kindly said “No, this is the first time I have ever seen tomato product in this kind of soup.” Kay then said, “well it looks like you opened it, so I guess I will eat it.” I then said “well, I am really hungry and would not mind if you substituted the soup with something else.” Kay replied, “so, you really have never put tomato product in Italian wedding soup?”Sensing that Kay was getting aggravated by the situation and several other customers were standing behind me, I said, “I have not, and I do not want to cause an argument in front of your customers about this.” I then said, “again, I am hungry and would not mind if you substituted the soup for something. Kay then pointed toward some pastries and a fruit cup section and told me if I wanted a fruit cup “it would be a $1 up-charge.” At this point I thought Kay might be messing with me, and I said, “so you would really up-charge me for a fruit cup in this situation?” Kay quickly replied, “yes!”It was at this point I asked Kay for her name (as up to then I had no idea who she was). She quickly replied with a question, which was “what is your name?” I gave her my name and then asked again for hers, and she finally told me, and that she was the owner! I then said I will be giving her the $1 for the fruit cup, and that I tipped her cashier for my original order - to which Kay replied, “thanks, my staff will appreciate that,” and I proceeded to tell her I will be writing a review. She then replied with, “wow!”Upon getting our lunch order which consisted of wraps I was fortunate to not have any tomatoes. The wraps were very good, but unfortunately Kay’s handling of the soup situation left, well, a bad taste in my mouth.Kay, a simple recommendation on how to handle these types of situations moving forward. “Sir, I am sorry you got a soup with tomato product.” “Can I get you something else while the rest of your order is being prepared?” “Oh, you want a fruit cup, no problem, please take one”. “And I will see to it that the rest of your order is quickly on it’s way.”
Decent food, but extraordinary wait times. Walk in during mornings and its 40 minute wait easy. On top, they just assume you are okay waiting for however long they like. Casual attitude at the reception. Can do better at serving
Words cannot explain this wonderful restaurant. The food is AMAZING and the staff is next to none. I highly recommend their specials - last week had the flatbread meal with goat cheese - it was exquisite! Sipping soups are on point too! You are missing out if you dont give this place a shot. Once you do, youll return.
It has been some time, since my visit, but I was very happy with the pastrami sandwich and cup of coffee I got, for lunch. I was raised in this neighborhood but moved to Los Angeles, California, for college, in 1987, and was, unfortunately, unaware of this establishment’s existence for awhile. When I next return home, I fully intend to visit, again. In California( now, the San Francisco Bay Area), a good pastrami sandwich is not always easy to find, and it’s a true treat, to return to the area where I rode my bicycle, in my youth, and grab a delicious bite to eat. The Left Coast will never compare, in that regard. I also cherish the “Live Free or Die” baseball cap I purchased, from the store, and have received many comments of admiration, from passers by, probably unaware that the man first writing that phrase, 1809,was born a stone’s throw away from the birthplace of my sandwich.
Nicest staff! Great, delicious food! Really good coffee for me especially, Jamaican me crazy flavor! Gift shop is awesome! Super nice location! Good parking and near walking trail. Cant get better than that!Oh and indoor and outdoor seating! Thank you
Many people recommend it, so we decided to have a nice Saturday lunch. But the food was not good at all and the staff was not friendly. Very sad and disappointed. We were expecting so much more.
Excellent fair $$ extremely friendly staffI should have taken a picture the Turkey and stuffingsandwich was excellent
Lovely place to have a breakfast, brunch or lunch in Windham/Derry NH. Gift shop is packed with local/NH items which are unique and varied. My favorite place to grab a bite when visiting the kids.
John is an ingredient WIZARD. Today, I ate the best tasting lobster sandwich I have ever experienced in my entire life. Hands down bar-none. It does not get any better folks. This goes for anything on the menu.
I think I aged 5 years while waiting but it was worth it. Sandwiches were awesome.
Just ate one of your breakfast sandwiches this morning. Same sandwich I had yesterday; sausage egg and cheese on a Portuguese roll. Exquisite!I even reluctantly compared it with DD sweet black pepper bacon on a croissant, (okay not apples to apples) because my wait at WJ was 30 min. I ate DDs first. It was sooooo disappointing because it was beyond plain without any taste whatsoever. My taste buds were Ike what just happened here? Did I even eat anything? I must have cuz my stomach felt fuller. 🤔 Then ate at WJs. Night and day! Apples to bananas! It was to die for because it was so fresh! And I live across the street so I wont be sacrificing my breakfast anymore. But Id drive to WJs for the freshest breakfast ever.. Thank God for WJ!
Great staff and dishes at a reasonable price. A favorite among locals and a great stop when using the Windham rail trail
After waiting over 30 minutes and having people that came after us get their food before us the food came out with UNEDIBLE BURNT TOAST and SNARKY comment from the waitress about smiling when we clearly were unhappy with her service. Will be sure NEVER to be back again and to advise all my friends and family that if they want a pleasant dining experience and quality food to spend their money else where. Usually I am all for supporting businesses and write nice things about all the places I visit but I was so disgusted with how my visit here went today I couldnt not share it.(The toast even smelled burnt when we first got the bag... how do you serve this!??!)
We ate breakfast here and got The Jumbo and Buttermilk Biscuit. Both were excellent, bacon was crispy. Coffee is self serve in a mug of your choice, with free refills. Also ordered a cinnamon bun heated, but it was tough like it had been microwaved to long. Flavor was good though. Friendly staff, and they bring your order to your table. Nice outside seating too! Well definitely be back!
Great place for morning coffee and breakfast sandwiches
Love this store..I go every week!!
A great weekend destination for delicious breakfast (or lunch), some gift shopping in the store, and a lovely walk on the Windham rail trail. Food is high quality and well-prepared. Gift shop has unique finds by local artisans. Trail would be perfect for a family bike ride or a stroll with the pooch. Will definitely be back!
Wonderful place to visit & enjoy uniquely created sandwiches, desserts & more. Your visit isnt complete without going into the gift shop. NH Shop to remember for locals and visitors to our great state.
Great as usual. Friendly.
Excellent place for good food, social distancing, and a little shopping while we waited for our food. Friendly servers and staff.
Amazing breakfast, lunch, and bakery! We love their sandwiches, eggs Benedict, and cinnamon buns!
Food is good at reasonable cost
Due to COVID there were restrictions on seating. Socially distanced. One party inside at a time to order. Andrew parking lot. Adorable little country store attached. Food was okay. Pretty basic.
Very friendly staff. Quick and efficient. Quaint, rustic cafe with sit or take out service. Very popular with the locals. Daily lunch specials are amazing and delicious. Highly recommend!
Always the best! Tons of creative options for breakfast and lunch. Quality is second to none.
The Windham Junction Kitchen is a marvelous find, with a varied menu of homemade items to please anyone.I only recently discovered this hidden gem (in the shadow of the Rail Trail in Windham), and have only been through a portion of the menu, but I intend to try it all. Each time weve been there we had their onion rings, the best and like everything else there, freshly made. Soups, chili, sandwiches, all were top notch.
Awesome onion rings!!! Best I ever had. Good prices. Clean.servers wearing masks and gloves.Good social distancing. Staff friendly.
Always good home cooking style, whether you get breakfast or lunch. Be sure to check out the gift shop while you are there, they carry many local artists with unique items. In the summer its a nice spot to get some ice cream and eat outside after a nice walk or ride on the trail trail. Shop small, shop local, shop HERE!
Great food and friendly covid-safe service.Outdoor music/entertainment was a plus.French toast with maple butter was really good!
Great place, great food. Friendly staff.
Excellent food aswell as nice country gift shop.soups are awsome
Great fresh food, very inexpensive. A must stop if you are biking on the Rail Trail. Best french toast, ever.
Amazing breakfast, i got door dash and i never make reviews for anything really.. but this was review worthy! i got breakfast this morning and it was the best breakfast ive had in a long time. Will definitely be getting more soon.
Went here yesterday with the family. Cannot tell you how awesome it is! You arrive and are invited to help yourself to some coffee in a mug of your choosing. After placing your breakfast order you may wander in the dining area to look around. Food was delivered to the table, hot and delicious! French toast was absolutely to die for. Coffee, so good. We loved the homey seating arrangement. You really felt like you were visiting a friends house and they invited you in for coffee and breakfast. We bought several items in the gift shop. Loved the selection. Will definitely be back!!! (Worth the trip from Tilton😊)
Best breakfast and lunch around. Their soups are great, doesn’t matter what the soup of the day is...just order it and you will love it.
Awesome staff. Everyone is super nice but my sandwich bread was kinda stale and a bit pricey for what you get and a bag of chips. Pickle was really good. Just expected better for having a 4.8 on reviews. I generally see it as going trend that local small businesses get way better reviews for support and or atmosphere mostly or what they sell than actual food portion or quality.
I just love this place. Very cozy, nostalgic and homey. Small dining area which adds to the charm. Plenty to look at and shop for while you wait. Very varied and unique gifts for yourself or others. This is where I go to relax any time of year.
Super cute. Very friendly staff. Only visited the country store today, but plan to return and order food soon.
Food is good. Service not so much. sloooooow.
Great food. Reasonable prices.
What a great find. Stopped for breakfast before a round of golf. Eclectic atmosphere. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. Beautiful location.
Great food, sweet atmosphere! Nice service🧡
Weve eaten here quite a few times and have never had a bad meal or experience. The menu is large, offering breakfast, soups, Salads, sandwiches and daily specials. Weve tried mostly sandwiches and Salads and enjoyed them. Portions are reasonable and the staff is friendly. In better weather, they have outside seating, both on the front porch and off to the side. Stop in. You wont be disappointed.
Cute nostalgic store. Country style gift items. Great food. Great location. Outside eating. Take out ice cream. Close to rail trail, so good for stopping in after a walk. They have a hose & dishes for tired dogs to drink.
First time there and it was great. Wonderful verity of food and the staff were wonderful. Sat on front porch in sunshine celebrating my birthday. Gift shop also a gem.
One of my favorite places to eat. The chili is amazing!
Family owned and operated. Great breakfast and lunch spot near the rail trail. Awesome friendly service. Definitely worth a visit. Breakfast times do vary...
The food at Windham Junction is always great. The service is friendly and they obviously know their regulars well - though I have felt once or twice that a known customer was served before me even if I ordered first. Each day there are specials which are often very interesting, as well as some great every day meal items. The store is very busy for lunch service, so plan ahead if you want to get in and out quickly. Later in the afternoon and on the two evenings that theyre open each week I havent found it to be as busy. Highly recommended.
Super delicious sandwiches after 2 hours of riding. Hungry kids loved grilled cheese and ice cream dessert. We had fun in gift shop. Biggest was like ever! A must buy for going out on the town with the girls. Fun!
My son and I love this place!! Food is great and they are always friendly.
This is my second time eating here. Chicken salad is delicious. Love the atmosphere and the staff is very friendly.
Good food, great service. Everything came out in a timely manner, plenty of cute things to look at in the gift shop, everything on the walls is for sale as well. Definitely somewhere to return to next time Im in the area. Also heard going on Saturdays and getting Everything but the Kitchen Sink is a must, will do upon return
Great restaurant! All great home made foods. We were able to sit outside in the sun to eat our lunch. Awesome!
Great place for breakfast and lunch with daily specials. Staff is helpful and friendly, place is super cozy. Food is fresh and delicious. As a plus, theres a little store inside with great ideas for gifts such as candles, soaps, scarves and hats, knick knacks for the kitchen and home decoration in general. Personally I love when they offer sipping soups; my favorite so far is the creamy tomato.
If supporting your local businesses is important to you, then those who live in the Windham Depot area should be here in droves. If you enjoy the cozy nature of a farm to table establishment, this place will touch your heart. I guess this review leaves you wondering if the food is any good. ;-) Well...It is!
I been here for supper and now breakfast! The food was delicious great portions good Coffee! service was Friendly! I met the owners very nice people! The store was so cute! Love this place! I will be back! Highly recommend!
Lovely gift shop with tons and tons of great selection. Food is alllll amazing. A must visit.
Love this little place. Great food, kind employees, fun trinkets to buy. With the trip.
Delicious chicken salad! They have gluten free bread, deserts and other options. My friend had a chicken Greek salad wrap which he totally enjoyed. He ordered fries and they were heavily salted which was the only downside. Will be back!
So happy I love up the road. Atmosphere is great. People are great and most importantly the food is GREAT! Highly recommend.
The food is amazing. Try the onion rings OMG. Staff super nice and helpful. The country store out back is amazing. I want one of everything.

We love it here. Great food. Casual and comfortable. And the little shop has really nice things!
One of my favorite country stores anywhere. The food is the best, baked goods are just as good. Kay and John (owners) are the nicest folks around. Good selection of knick knacks and other country store treasures too.
Had great breakfast sandwich here. Prices good and service was great too.

Cannot believe I’ve only just discovered this gem! Delish food, cozy, quaint, fun & friendly! A must see!
Awesome soups. Good place to get christmas tree too. So nice they had santa there for free. And hot cocoa
Great old fashioned New England spot! You go in through the right side, order your food which is brought to you at tables inside or outside if you prefer. Breakfast specials were great! Worth the stop for sure.
We stopped here on the advice of a local store owner. The food did not disappoint. I had the chicken salad sandwich with almond slivers and cranberries. My husband had the grilled Rueben. Both sandwiches were generously portioned and delicious. The atmosphere is quaint country with some outdoor seating. This is definately a local gem for breakfast or lunch that I will visit again.
Their food is AMAZING!!!! Turkey Feast is unreal and their Onion Rings are the best in Southern New Hampshire. I highly recommend stopping here.
Quaint, friendly, cozy place for delicious food. Reminds of a place you would see in a vacation place up north. Sandwiches are tasty and filling. We will be back to try more of the menu and breakfast of course.
The food is NEVER disappointing. The atmosphere is comforting and the staff are welcoming. Highly recommended.
The best food! Love the Kays orange leafy salad, chicken salad, egg salad. My kids love their grilled cheese. Something for everyone!
