I posted a 5* review for Portside Marine several months ago as I finished my purchase of an Excel Bay Pro 230 from their dealership, but I feel compelled to share my after-the-sell experience that is pretty incredible to me in customer service. A very unique situation, but very relevant to the quality and integrity of a business and their employees.After taking the boat out a couple of times, noticed excessive water in the hull upon loading onto the trailer. Contacted Kyle Trammell of Excel Boats and took the boat into a local dealer for a warranty service repair. I live in central Alabama, 7 hours from Portside Marine. Fixed one problem that happened at Excel, but realized there was an additional issue that wasnt created at the manufacturer. The leak was from an errant screw that was used to install an additional battery tray while the unit was at Portside (a very unintentional mishap). Being this deep into the repair process, the local dealer fixed the problem and I paid for the repair that wasnt covered by the warranty.I contacted Victor and Tyler in the service department @ Portside and asked if they would look at the situation and see what was possible. A very difficult, unique situation supposedly chasing a warranty repair and actually should have returned the boat to Portside so they could have fixed the in-house issue. The end result, Portside Marine is going to take care of the repair for me. Through all of the honesty and good faith of everyone involved trying to do the right thing, Victor, Tyler, and the staff @ Portside took the situation to another level. Just dont see this type of concern for customers in business anymore. Incredible people at Portside Marine LLC, Winter Park, FL!! Thank you!

I worked with Chris for the new engine installation and James from the service department. They both did a great job and I was very happy to probably get the last engine around in Central Florida for sale. They also charged me the price they got the engine for and not the new price that will be 23% more expensive for the new engines. Thanks for the help

It is a company where they are not honest, they are based on lies and little knowledge to be able to take your money from you. I dont really trust them. I had a very bad but very bad experience.

Repower my pontoon and do far happy with the results.

I met Chris at noon as planned. He took me for a water test at a local lake. We agreed on the deal and I went to lunch. I returned and we signed papers while the boat was cleaned. I left for home at 4 PM. Portside Marine is Easy to do business with.

I asked a price for some engines and they gave it to me, it turned out that when I went I wanted to charge almost double based on lies and they are not onesta people

Purchased a brand new 2021 magic tilt trailer. I paid cash. I told Dean and Portside I’d be back with the boat so that they could adjust the trailer to my application. Called today to schedule a date and time but apparently they “can’t” do the adjustment and that it’s would be a separate charge to setup. They’re quick to take $2500 cash but not really honest or reputable to finish a simple job that comes with buying a trailer. So much for all that thank you for your military service when I drop cash but when it comes to finishing its more like “F you we already got our money!” Thanks for nothing Dean and Victor

I purchased a new Excel Bay Pro 230 powered with a Suzuki DF250. The sales staff of Chris and Dean did a great job in helping me equip my boat with the accessories I was looking for: t-top, trolling motor, electronics, seadek. Additionally, the price was very competitive.With the current state of the fishing industry, we faced several challenges in finding the engine as well as a couple of the accessories. Both Chris and Dean worked extensively to secure the items I had requested, and the dealership even made some financial concessions to help complete the deal. Cant say enough about how hard the guys worked to get me in my boat.One final note, we made all of this happen while I live 7 hours away from the dealership. There was constant communication and I always felt confident in getting everything pulled together to finish the sale. Would definitely use Portside Marine again in the future.

They did a fantastic job on my new motor installation. Very fair and transparent pricing, and good communication throughout the process.

In my case I took my boat with a 115 mercury octimax they charged me 2000 dollars for an arrangement that was not necessary since the problem was the spark plugs when I tried to talk to them I was never right and I lost my money the problem was not removed from my ship I am very disappointed of them they are very liars

I purchased a trailer for my new (to me) boat from Portside Marine. The vessel had previously been stored at a marina, and they took the time to make sure what I was purchasing would be a good fit for my boat. All required paperwork was handled quickly, a thorough explanation and hookup, a good light check and I was out the door. All in all, Chris and Dean are two cool dudes and a pleasure to do business with!

I brought my boat to Portside after having an issue with starting my motor. My boat had been to multiple shops prior and I was basically told “sorry, we do not know what the issue is”.I contacted Victor Perez who told me him and his staff would do everything they could to fix my issue. They only took about 3 days to diagnose and fix my issue. They called me every step of the way to keep me updated on their progress.Needless to say, Portside marine solved my issue that no other shop could and charged me an exceptionally good price. I’m now back on the water with the confidence my boat will not have the same problems it did before.For any future maintenance I will be sure to call Portside Marine. The folks at Portside were extremely helpful and quick with getting me set up on my new Hog Island Skiff. Dean was able to answer questions when I needed them. They understood time on the water was important for folks and they were clear on timelines.My new boat and trailer are great and Im glad I went with Portside.

Replaced my old (30 yrs) Mercury 2 stroke with a new Suzuki 4 stroke. I did need to wait 2 months to get the new motor in due to backordering, however, once it arrived the installation took about a week. While the new motor was being installed, I sold my old motor to another individual who was able to pick up the motor from Portside. Dean was able to accept the money the purchaser and held it until I picked up the boat a couple of days later. Thank you for the great service.

Dean was a very nice guy and very helpful but the Office manager was very judgmental, she likes to judge a book by the cover in my opinion. I had my father pay for a $1400 trailer over the phone and he told the guy I would be coming to get it. the purchase went through and the company got there money but i had an out of state id that didn’t have my correct address on it due to me just moving to a new house less then a week ago and they refused to give me the trailer and said i was “showing to many red flags” and thought i was trying to scam them! AFTER THEY ALREADY GOT MY MONEY! So i had to have my father drive all the way over an hour away to just SHOW the girl his Florida id that matched the credit card just a big hassle for the girl just to look at an id.

Have been dealing with Chris. He always answers the phone when I need something or gets back to me in a timely manner. Would do business with him any day of the week. It’s been a great experience for my first boat.

I noticed the price of the accessories were as low or even lower then the big stores knowledgable crew as well. ⚓

Tyler was my contact at Portside and they installed some trim tabs with automatic controllers. Had my fenders repaired and everything turned out great.

I went there with interest on purchasing a boat that I saw online. When my wife and I arrived a gentlemen approached me asking what we needed. I told him I called prior and spoke to Dean in sales. This gentlemen told me he would get someone who spoke Spanish ( I guess my perfect English wasnt good enough and my Spanish face required a Spanish speaking person to assist me.) We waited for a little and Dean came out and assisted us by showing us the boat. He was very nice and polite and brought us inside to the person who deals with the financing. What a joke! This gentlemen looked upset that he didnt want to get off his phone and deal customers. As he explained to us about boat financing he dropped the F-Bomb in front of my wife. Very unprofessional of him and the gentlemen who assumed I needed a Spanish person to speak with me. I left and told Dean I would get back to him and get my financing on my own. I did and called back Monday morning and stated to Dean that I got my financing and he mention that the boat was on consignment and would have to talk with the owner about agreeing to the amount offer. I never heard back so I called again and Dean said someone sold the boat.I would never go back to purchase a boat from these guys due to the fact that I felt profiled, the inappropriate language in front of my wife and the not following up with the customers.

Victor and his service crew are amazing. I had a major engine issue, with a short repair timeframe due to an upcoming tournament. Portside diagnosed and repaired in a few days and I am back on the water. They did this all while rigging/transporting boats to a boat show over the weekend. Top notch service. Thanks.

I bought a 17 foot bowrider from Portside Marine, the sales staff was excellent, they never presurred me to buy the boat and let me test ride it at a local lake. After I did buy the boat they helped get all the assessories I want for it and did a great job installing them all. I plan on using them for my future maintenance too.

Had a terrific boat purchase with Chris who showed us how to do everything with the boat on our lake. Couldn’t have been easier from purchase to putting the boat in our dock.

Disappointed with the parts department. I called to obtain information about a OEM Volvo Penta raw water pump rebuild kit. Was advised that Volvo Penta does not sell a rebuild kit but recommends an all new pump at a cost of over $500. This is by no fault of Portside Marine but when I asked for the part number they refused to give me the part number fearing that I would shop around for the best deal. I understand a company is in business to make a profit and I have no issue with a fair profit but I also look to receive the best value. Unfortunately Portside Marine will not earn my business.

Truly a 1 stop shop! From finding the boat I wanted, to Financing ( awesome rate!), to going over the details of what I wanted in the boat, to dialing it in once it was done! We made a deal signed estimate range the bill was more than agreed upon .victor did the right thing and honored signed estimate.i paid the bill they pulled my boat out sent me out the door to hook up boat and leave when a guy that threatened me with his us marine back ground that he could mess me up in more ways i could imagine then proceeded to hold my boat that i hadnt paid in full when i already had reciept with zero balance from them.....he proceded to tell me he knows all the laws i called the police .before they showed up he was rude smiling from forklift like he had me trapped from taking my boat .then he threatened me with trespassing like i would want to go back there... WOW... the police made him release my boat no more money .....so be very aware of price before you make deal sorry for the MARINES :(IF THIS KIND OF ATTITUDE IS USED AS A THREAT FROM A MARINE.... HE DIDNT EVEN TELL ME WHO HE WAS ...THEY KNOW AT THIS POINT HE WAS WRONG FOR COMING OUT AFTER I PAID AND TRIED TO COLLECT MORE $ STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE

I understand these are trying times, but you don’t have to be rude then rub it in. I stopped by Portside to see if they would work on my older 2 stroke ... I was in a rush which is no excuse but I forgot my mask walking in ... instead of just being normal about it the “gentlemen” at the desk was really aggressive in asking me to put on a mask. Feeling bad I turned around to go get my mask and hear the one “gentlemen” laugh as he said what an idiot, and the other “gentlemen” laughed with him. They both thought I didn’t hear them. And by the way, neither of them were wearing mask. :(

I traveled from Delaware to Florida to look at a boat to buy from a private owner. I called Portside Marine prior to leaving Delaware to see if they had a trailer if I bought the boat fortunately they had a new trailer and they said they would hold it for me for the 2 day trip. I looked at the boat traveled 1hour to Portside Marine to make the trailer purchase. Went to pull the boat at a boat ramp and found the trailer needed major adjustments to fit my boat. The service department got me in the next day first thing to adjust the trailer even though the shop had quite a lot of other work all ready on their schedule. I made the trip back to Delaware with out any problems. Great job and many thanks to all that was involved from the sales department to the service department. Jeff Chatterton

I purchased my boat from Chris at Portside Marine. He went above and beyond in answering all my questions and kept in constant contact with me during the purchase process. They had everything ready for me on the delivery date making it a quick and smooth process.

Took my SS prop to Portside as it was in serious need of repair. An unknown object had taken a decent size piece out of one of the blades. I dropped the prop off on a Monday and the following Friday, it was finished. The craftsmanship and workmanship performed on the prop was outstanding. It looked as if it just came out of the box. The staff at Portside could not have been more helpful professional. I highly recommend Portside for your marine and boating needs. A real gem in central Florida and I will be using them for all my boating needs.

I called looking to get a marine survey performed for a boat I am looking to buy. They were very helpful in putting me in touch with people that could help even they did not offer the service. Very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Good service even with some serious wait times for parts orders. Theyve made some changes to limit the number of people in the front shop, but at least provided a canopy and chair for your wait.

I routinely take my boat 100 miles offshore. I never question whether my boat is going to perform at its best because I leave all my maintenance needs up to Portside Marine. Also go to place to get new electronics installed. I got my Garmin screens, auto pilot, radar and jl audio stereo done there and they have performed beyond expectations.

Taking my boat now! In todays environment many dealers/service providers are slammed and barely give you the time of day and act as if they are doing you a favor. However, I talked with Xavier and he took the time to ask some questions to help troubleshoot, was super courteous and friendly, and made me feel like my business mattered.

The Staff at the parts counter to the guys in the back are amazing. They are knowledgeable and explain in detail service and price. I had a Bimini Top with track slides and a trolling motor installed and the care and quality that they put into my boat was excellent ! I am always treated as a valued customer. Several months ago Portside Marine performed a complete make-over on my 2001 18 Fiberglass Flats Boat. First, I bought a new trailer. Then, I had them do some fiberglass work, re-wire the entire boat, starboard work on the console, new batteries, re-power with a new 115hp Suzuki outboard, install trim tabs, and a Garmin fish finder. I really enjoyed working with Chris and Xavier and appreciate all the work the Portside crew did to my boat. They provide top notch customer service, installation and repair. I recently had my Proline 2550 repowered with new suzuki 200s. Even through these tough times with the COVID pandemic, both Chris and Josh kept me up to date with progress and pressed hard to get my boat completely done. I looked at re-powering options all over FL and found Portside with great pricing and service. They were very clear about what they would do based on my needs for the boat. They stuck to the timeline and even helped with the selling of my old motor. When complete I met them at a lake near me and did a great check out drive with them. When I took the boat out the first week for some break-in time, I ran into some issues with my fuel tank and needed to make a few adjustments with the prime pump. I called Portside and they were able to make the adjustments the same day and all is good. My next re-power will be with Portside Marine and I recommend they knowledgeable and friendly team to anyone looking to do the same.

I have known Josh for many years. He is a great, factory trained mechanic who has gone on to work for himself. Not only is he a great mechanic but he is honest and dependable. If you want help from someone who will not take advantage of you and who will take the time to go over problems with your boat, he is the guy to call! There are very few people I would recommend but he is awesome.

Cant say enough about Josh and Portside Marine. They overhauled my triple Verados and a little while after I had an issue with one lower unit. Josh made a special trip down to take care of it. Everything runs perfectly now. Great technicians, honest pricing, but best of all they stand behind their work...hard to find that these days. I highly recommend Josh and his staff for any marine repairs you may need.

Extremely knowledgeable professional service. Portside Marine came to my location quickly diagnosed and fixed my boat engine problem. While the mechanic was there, I noticed my trailer lights were suddenly not working. He also quickly diagnosed and located the problem as a short and fixed that as well. I will be using them again for any future boat repair needs.

I live in the Tampa Bay area and made the 2 hour drive to have Portside do my repower for my Prokat. I was very happy I did, Josh, Victor, and Xavier kept me updated on the progress answered any questions I had. They have a great team and hard work ethic. I was impressed how quickly they completed all of the work that was done to my boat - twin engines, new dash, completely new switch panel, new LED spreader lights, fixed all of the bugs in my wiring. (they even found a leak in one of my live well pump housings- I could not figure out where it was leaking from for the longest time). Great guys!

I never do reviews but when great customer service is done it absolutely needs to be recognized.My experience with Porstide Marine was nothing less than above and beyond. Not only were they the ONLY shop to carry a portable 15 hp Suzuki outboard ready for me to take same day but also gave me a great price!Being my first small outboard for my starter bass boat I was really unexperienced and uneducated but the guys at Portside not only made me feel at home but enlightened me on everything I needed to know to get me out on the water immediately. Without hesitation they rigged me up got the motor going and made sure I left secure.Hours later I am on the lake and because of my inexperience and lack of knowledge I believe the motor is not working called them up and they allowed me to come when shop hours were closed just to take a COMPLETE inspection of every little thing (even tho it was a simple honest mistake on my part) they did not even flinch on checking absolutely everything to reassure me. Now I am flying 20 mph+ and slaying big bass!All of my boat parts and services will most certainly be going to these guys at Portside! I met Josh at the Orlando boat show. He took time to talk to us and did not rush at all. Most of the other vendors were rude and brushed us off. Josh worked with us and I bought a new boat from him. The boat was ready the next day. Josh stayed late making sure he went through everything with me including a water test in the lake all after his shop was closed. I have already recommended my cousin to him for a repower and recommend him to you as well.

Josh is hands down the best boat mechanic I have used. He is very knowledgeable, honest and thorough. I was impressed with his attention to detail and his service is above and beyond any other mechanic I have dealt with. Josh will be the only boat mechanic I ever use.

I just decided that Portside Marine will be my marine mechanic for ever! I bought a 1998 SeaRay this summer with a host of items and issues to be dealt with including trailer issues. Andrea at Portside had everything fixed and repaired in quick time, fair cost, and outstanding communication throughout the entire process. This past week I ran into a gas leak that cropped up, brought it to Portside, where they found out that a gasket that they installed failed. After time invested diagnosing the problem, it was fixed with a new gasket and Andrea told me those magic words you never hear any more - NO CHARGE. The gasket they installed failed, so they covered the fix. Now they just earned my business and my friends boats business permanently. To top this experience, I got a Thank You Card in the mail from Portside for my business. Old school business - work done right, great people, followup, fair pricing, and stand by the work with at Thanks! Relationship - DONE!

After I tried (and failed) to properly fix my water pump, they fixed it. When I took it to the water, however, there was a leak from somewhere. I called them and they took it back. The problem was an old hose that wouldnt seal, not really directly related, but they replaced the hose, and only charged me for labor. Victor said we want to make it right several times, and they did. Also did not charge me for leaving it there for almost 2 weeks as I was traveling. Good people.

Very informative & helpful when I repaired my friends boat that capsized. They also had every part I needed.

Had my boat in to get a new onboard battery charger and 2 new batteries with Andre. The day I picked up my boat I had plans to go fishing. When I picked up the boat one of the batteries was dead. This could have turned into a very disappointing day of no fishing. Instead Andre made it right and with in minutes had a new battery put int he boat so I could go fishing that evening. Thank you Andre and Victor and your crew for how much you care!
