Just started hearing about this place a few months ago because of their expanding vegan options and I dont know how I havent been in sooner. My companions got the vegan chicken sandwich, one with the V mac and cheese, and i got the vegan supreme breakfast sandwich. SO GOOD. Our lattes were also great. Definitely making stopping here a weekly thing now!

I live right down the street and had no idea it was such a GEM. For such a small kitchen, they have a huge selection of delicious food. The pulled pork panini was delicious and I would definitely recommend the fries which came out crispy and seasoned perfectly. The atmosphere is perfect for sitting down with a coffee to study or sitting outside with some friends to enjoy a meal together. Gotta come back soon to get my hands on a milkshake too!!

Beautiful day went along with a beautiful restaurant. Food choices were both creative and very good. The turkey dinner sandwich was amazing. Staff was very kind and enthusiastic.

This is THE coffee shop/book store in Worcester. The menu is phenomenal and the food is delicious. Plus, the space is wonderful for a casual meet-up with friends or to hang out and get some work/reading done. This is my favorite spot in Worcester, hands-down.

I go here like once a week even tho I’m broke it’s just too good to stay away. Go get the avocado melt and a milkshake and be full for the whole day. It’s angelic.

This place is my absolute fave. They carry a great selection of books, the coffee and milkshakes are excellent, but the real star in my opinion is the food. The food tastes like real food prepared by someone who actually likes food. You can practically taste the care in selecting high quality ingredients and putting them together to create an explosion of delicious flavor. 10/10

This place really is a gem in Worcester. The food is good, the staff is pleasant. The short rib panini special is one of the best sandwiches in the city, hands down. If you havent given this place a try, you are missing out!

Went here for breakfast today with my mom. Very cozy and very inviting. The people there were very friendly. I asked for no tomatoes on my toast and since I asked for no tomatoes she took the extra step and told me the veggie cream cheese had tomatoes.The food was extremely delicious. Bought some Sriracha sauce and it was delicious over my breakfast. I will be back again if I am in the area. Highly recommend. The tea is awesome!

Great spot for breakfast in Tatnuck Square! If you want to support local businesses, this is an excellent alternative to the generic coffee chains. Delicious food, perfect espresso drinks and really friendly staff. I love the selection of books and will return for that alone, but I can also see this place becoming my new morning coffee spot. It is so wonderful to have a bookstore/cafe back in Tatnuck Square!

What could be better, great food and books. My wife had the Bacon Blue Salad and absolutely loved it. I had the Buffalo Chicken Panini and it was the best sandwich Ive had in weeks. Plus I found a great book. Couldnt recommend this place more.

First time here. Adorable, quaint, cozy place... Delicious decaf cappuccino.... Chicken salad wrap with walnuts, broccoli slaw. Excellent 👍... Looking forward to trying other items on the menu.

I recently canceled my Amazon account because I wanted to be more conscious about where I spend my money. Every time I want a book now I order from Root and Press and they have been absolutely amazing. They respond immediately, paying online is so easy, and the books come in super fast. Then you get to treat yourself to some of Worcesters best food when you pick up your book. The owners are salt of the earth people and everything off the menu is first rate!

This is one of my favorite spots to visit in Worcester. Theyve been closed recently due to quarantine so I havent been in a while, but Ive been dreaming about their mac and cheese... The food and drinks are great, the atmosphere is cozy, and the people that work there are so nice. Im really looking forward to going back when theyre able to relaunch!

Great place to get books, coffee, food, and local goods. The size of the store limits their book selection (though they still have lots), and if theres something you want that they dont have, they can order it and usually get it to you within a week. The food and coffee are delicious, and the menu gets frequent updates based on the season.

I called a bunch of book stores looking for a new book with no luck. . . until Root and Press had one in-stock.I definitely recommend this store. They had a nice display with multi cultural children books which I appreciated.As a bonus, they sell food. My wife was a big fan of her mint chip milkshake (the cookie crumbles were a crowd pleaser)Next time I need a book Ill skip Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and you should too.

I was thrilled when Root and Press opened up here in Worcester. We were seriously lacking an independent bookstore and this one is a local gem. A welcoming atmosphere, a cozy vibe and a staff that is always so helpful! Love and will keep coming back for more!

Very quaint and charming place to relax and have a coffee or eat a delicious meal. You can browse the books they sell or join one of their book clubs. All meals seem gourmet and everything on the menu is good down to their toast. (their side dish maccaroni salad is one of my favorites.) Rich is the owner and is very friendly and well-read. You just feel like home here. It does need more space on busy times as seating is limited, but worth the wait. Highly recommend.

Total gem in Tatnuck Square! This little cafe and book store is ideal for a relaxing few hours reading or for a quick stop in to grab a coffee. The owners are simply perfect - friendly, hardworking and generous. Food selections are outstanding for such an intimate venue - Im impressed with the quality and quantity of choices. I highly recommend the Lavender Fog...so good! Definitely stop in when youre on the West Side of Worcester.

Extra-friendly staff - I could tell from just the phone call calling in my order!My breakfast sando was DELICIOUS! The jalapeño-sriracha bagel was toasted well with just a bit of spice, the eggs and bacon tasted fresh and perfectly cooked, and the extra large (and CRISPY!) potato pancake was a welcome change from the usual tots or hash brown other places offer.Iced coffee had good flavor, not bitter at all!This is definitely gonna be a place I’ll frequent. Can’t wait to try a burger or milkshake!

The great news is, I finally made it to the renowned Root & Press that everyone I know has been talking about. The bad news is, I waited too long! The staff, book selection, unbelievably creative & delicious foodie menu - plus, blueberry natural soap and bourbon maple syrup I bought -put me over the top! I would give 10 stars if I could. Get your butt down here and support this business, please!!

This is my favorite coffee spot in Worcester. Its cozy, the specialty coffees are delicious (as is the food), and the curated book collection is divine. Its my go-to when I have time to enjoy a cuppa, write, and daydream about buying every book in the place (Im a BIG fan of the World History shelves). I cant wait to get back there!

The best breakfast in Worcester (at least)! The minute you walk into the place, you know its not your average cafe, too. Books, gifts, nooks to snuggle into to read and have coffee... its magical. Root and Press is a true gem of a bookstore. It is definitely my favorite place to browse for new books. The collection on the shelves feels carefully curated, with a great variety of bestsellers, interesting new titles, and perennial favorites, and the owners go above and beyond to support local authors. If they dont have a book youre looking for, theyll order it for you. And if that wasnt enough, the food, coffee, and tea are all delicious. A must-visit bookstore/cafe in Tatnuck Square!

Enjoyed very much. Food is delicious and creative (we have salads) and ample. Coffee great. Clean. Staff very attentive and friendly. The books were curated to my taste, but maybe not others (few in genres like low end mystery, or romance or self help--but that is a good thing!).

Sole is such a nice, CLEAN place, with GREAT seafood!!! The staff is extremely friendly. They knew their oysters and what was fresh/sweet to taste!It was so good we decided to go back on Wednesday!! Same time, same place. By 6:00, it was completely packed at the bar as well as the dining area.

This lovely friendly cafe & bookshop is an unexpected treasure in West Worcester. This is the kind of stop that rakes in the clientele in other cities. As its discovered, it will thrive even more. This hideaway has a full breakfast kitchen all hours of the day. The chairs and tables are comphy enough for a date. The books are relevant and interesting. The staff completes the escape with kindness in their eyes and competence in their dishes. I wouldnt tell anyone about them, but they deserve all the business they will bring in! They are Worth finding!

This place is pretty God damn good ! Love the selection of books as well available to read. The owner is super friendly and nice so is everyone else working there.I got a cappuccino with peppermint and the avocado toast! The toast was mind blowing delicious. The coffee was on point too!

Its a bookstore! Its a cafe! Its both! Warm, comfortable environment with friendly staff and a nice selection of food and drinks. The salads are robust and flavorful and the breakfast selections are available all day. A great study place or a nice place to meet a friend and have coffee or a bite to eat. Were already planning our next visit.

Root and Press is the cozy bookstore/cafe that Ive always dreamed about. I usually get the iced coffee with a non-dairy milk and its always been smooth and tasty (and, yknow, caffeinated). They also offer a variety of snacks and light meals which have never disappointed me. (I particularly like the avocado toast.) If you want a casual, homey place to chill with a book or a quick bite to eat, I think youll enjoy Root and Press.

I live in bell hill in Worcester, which is nowhere near this place but I specifically go out of my way to come here because the food is so good, the people here are so friendly and kind, and the atmosphere is so cozy.
