We passed this place many times and never tried to go in. The first time we did go on we were advised we needed to have reservations. I dont know of that is all of the time or if it is just during the busy periods only. But I finally made the reservation and got a table for us to go and try this restaurant out. It was busy and packed, so the reservations, at least at that time made sense. Apparently our table wasnt ready so they offered us another table with high chairs and gave us a free round of drinks. So that was nice. As far as the menu, it is a little difficult to follow as the font is very small and there is a lot of choice for foods, steak and fish primarily. I have to say the prices seemed high. I am not sure if this is normal or if higher due to COVID and droughts and such. The stuffed mushroom was good with soft and tasty crab meat. The side salad was left to desire more for the cost of food here, very basic. The cream of crab soup was delicious. The stuffed mushroom were good, but the same stuffing that was used for the mushroom, so no difference in taste. The crab cake, again, seemed like the same taste as the other stuffed products we had. As far deserts, they only had 3 and all were cakes (cheesecake, peanut butter cake and key lime pie) so we opted to defer. But overall the staff were very pleasant and kind, they were attentive despite being very busy and the food was delicious (albeit expensive for the portions you received). It doesnt necessarily scare us away from future visits from this restaurant though.
Havent been in the Paddock in several decades, what a mistake..! Wife and I went in Saturday mid afternoon and it was all but empty but filled up shortly. Chris was our waiter, well trained, didnt bug us, tipped him well, THANK YOU CHRIS..! We started out with the Cream of Crab Soup and it was a delight..! We both ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Fries, very good..! Chris even got me a home made cherry Pepsi..! Neither of us could eat all that was in front of us. There is a superb menu here..! Reservations are recommended.....
Fantastic! First time here... I was in the area for business and popped in for drinks (Peach Mango Martini, pictured) and some light fare. I grabbed the French Onion Soup and the Jumbo Lump Crab Stuffed Portobello Mushroom. Absolutely delicious! Ill have to stop again next time to try more of the menu.Great food. Great service. Great price for the value I received! Highly recommend.

Amazing food! Well worth the money spent! They definitely deserved more than the gratuity they included with the meal, and seeing how most patrons are terrible tippers its a great idea for those in the service industry! Will definitely be back! Several items on the menu that I cant wait to try!! Getting 2 of the crash pretzels this time so my wife can stay off my plate!! Thanks for great food and fantastic service!
Ate here for the first time this evening, 9 September 2021. The cream of crab soup was delicious, the server was wonderful, the lobster rolls were disappointing. They are not authentic Maine Lobster Rolls, it is misleading to identify them as such! They were NOT what I know as Maine Lobster Rolls! We have been several times to Maine and Cape Cod and Cape May. A lobster roll is lobster, butter on a buttered roll, NOT lobster salad on a roll. My husband had the roll also. The mayonnaise (yuck) soaked through the bun and left it all soggy. Our son had the salmon and enjoyed it. The ambiance was too bright with the lights I doubt that we will return!
Our waiter Chris was absolutely fantastic, the service was quick, and the food was on par with places charging 2-3 times as much. We also got to meet the owner who was extremely friendly and just generally a good dude10/10 will be back again!
Looking for a great seafood restaurant in York, The Paddock on Market is an excellent choice. Good seafood isnt cheap. That being said, our meals were top notch. Scallops, shrimp, and especially the crab were excellent. Definitely going back.
This evening my husband and I ate at the Paddock. We havent tried this restaurant in a very long time. We knew it had been remodeled and it was really great. The food and service was excellent. We started with onion rings followed by salad I had a jumbo lump crab cake and the mean JUMBO, my husband had the trifecta of scallops, shrimp and jumbo lump crabcake. It was a wonderful experience!
My wife and I ate there on a Saturday evening. It was busy, we didn’t have reservations and they were able to accommodate us at the bar. Very friendly staff. We’re not big drinkers and usually don’t like to take up bar space, but they had room and were accommodating. I ordered the salmon with a citric cream sauce and lump crab meat. The crab was so big I thought it was a pasta in the sauce. Absolutely amazing. The broccoli had long thick stems which were not edible. The balsamic vinaigrette dressing was the best I ever had. My wife ate the haddock with scallops and crab au gratin. She absolutely loved her meal. This was our second visit and I said we need to come more often. It was clean restaurant. My wife judges restaurants by how clean the bathrooms are and she was impressed. Great job. Keep up the amazing work.
Fresh seafood, outdoor dining options and the service is always good. Weve never had a bad meal here! Reservations recommended as they can get quite busy.
Ended up here by after trying to find a table at three other restaurants. The staff were friendly and the food was great. Their salmon is the best I’ve had in a long time
First experience with Paddock. Highly impressed, season perfectly cooked to perfection. I had the crab stuffed haddock and my wife had the salmon. Both were delicious. Will be returning again soon.
Been a family favorite since the 60s. It’s been a dozen years since I’ve been back in town for a treat. Took a friend for lunch and bragged about the famous tower of onion rings. Her steak was perfect. My cocktails were worthy. The rest, I scratch cook. I can tell restaurant supply box food. That’s what The Paddock has become. Pricey same old same old.
It was our first time here and it definitely wont be our last. Food was absolutely amazing and so fresh! Service was on point, Katie was so sweet and the rest of the staff were super welcoming and friendly! The dessert was also delicious! Cant wait to come back and try a new dish! Totally recommend this place!
Very good crab cakes, and everything else to . Fantastic Blue cheese for salad. Pretty good selection of beers on tap. Even one from Hawaii. Bar maids were nice. Was nice since weve been trapped in the house thanks China.
A friend of mine was trying to support a small business, but they only cared about PROFITS and demanded a 15% fee just for takeout. Ooh and you should see the fake classy response they gave her. Sigh - I would recommend Eagles Nest! Great people and no fees to eat their DELICIOUS food! Yummy
First time we have been here and Im not sure why. Menu is great. We settled for lobster rolls and were the best ones we ever ate. Little pricey but the foods worth it.

Food was great! Service was good! Steak was super tender. Portions were all on point. We started with the shrimp appetizer and was definitely not disappointed. The salad was crisp and dressing was delicious. Could have used a larger plate, but cant complain. We did ask for bread, which never came. The server did seem a bit distracted, but it was okay. The steak, spaghetti, and cream of crab soup was amazing. The meatball grinder, while tasty, was too messy to really eat. My daughter ended up trying a fork/knife, but it just was a mess. I would avoid that area of the menu. Dessert are all great and worth a stop in just for that. Overall, great place of a nice meal. Food and experience is upper level, prices are worth the value, and other than a few hiccups, it is a solid recommendation.
Always an enjoyable experience. Nice steak options, plenty of great seafood options, and fantastic fish. I wish I could go here more often. Been there for a while, I think they have figured out how to get it done, because they are getting it done.
We enjoy eating on the patio. Food is delicious. Prices are on the high side depending on what you order.
Usually a favorite. Today, not so much. My family felt incredibly stereotyped due to not dressing up.We were put in a corner right by the door to the patio, so there was constant traffic by our table. The service was terrible. The server had to come back at least 5 times to verify what we ordered. I dont know if she didnt write it down or what. My salad came out with the wrong dressing and avocado after I asked for none. The server told me she couldnt fix the avocado, but reached onto my plate to take the dressing back.. only when I was ready to leave was I offered a remake. I had to ask for a drink refill after she came back to the table 3 different times for other things, my fiances food was cold, and my french fry loving 2 year old wouldnt touch the overfried ones.For a high end restaurant, you need to do better.

Nice family restaurant with good seafood and friendly, efficient service. Plenty of outdoor seating and socially distanced tables is a huge plus during COVID times. (The blacktop doesnt have much in the way of ambience - its right next to a busy road - but whatever.) I had a nice piece of haddock, perfectly seared and not over-salted.PS - I kind of like the kitschy, horseshoe-shaped sign. But a horseshoe is a misleading choice for a place that bills itself as a seafood restaurant. Oh well.

Great restaurant...our server Chris was wonderful 100 stars..he handled all 11 of us as though we were the only patrons and believe me thats not an easy task with such a diverse group! Everyone loved the food without even one complaint ...100 stars for the restaurant, chef & management .... definitely no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who has not yet treated themselves to this 5 star restaurant!

Called today & spoke to a hostess about doing to go order for mothers day. Wanted to get an idea of how long it could take for three meals to be cooked, understanding it would be dependent on business. Her answer to me was I dont know how long it would take, I dont know the menu, Im only a hostess!!!
Just a pricy OK experience. Thought about sitting outside on their picnic tables - was like sitting next to a highway, loud and weird. We moved inside and had a nice pleasant waitress. The food is all expensive prices into the 50$ for some meals- sandwiches close to 20$ and for the meals it costs 4$ extra for each side? Really? Had the oyster chowder $11 a bowl- and it was… Ok - not very flavorful. My wife had a side of fries and they were little crispy hard bits of fries. Shoestring but like a centimeter long? My steak was ok $32 special (that came with 2 sides thats why I chose it)-was…. OK def not worth $32 - Pricey fancy restaurant with drab decor/ no offer of rolls or anything for a meal that cost $128 for two adults and one children’s meal. We can not recommend Paddock - to expensive for an OK or less food experience.
I have not set foot in the Paddock in years. It has had a considerable facelift. We were seated and waited on immediately. Had our appetizer in minutes. Three different orders and three different opinions. Fish sandwich was more bread then fish, Bradford filet mignon was great and the soup was delicious. Staff was very attentive and on point. I gave it 4 stars due to cost.

Numerous reasons I personally did not care for the place. Food and service were average. Prime rib was under cooked and didnt care for the flavor, now the crab cake was very good. Couldnt pick your sides with this and that was very disappointing for 40 bucks. Beware they automatically added the 20% tip and the service did not dictate 20% for sure. Atmosphere is also cold and and not very welcoming. This is one and done for us.
Steak was fatty and grillsley. Came raw. Crab cakes and shrimp were excellent.
Had the pleasure of dining at The Paddock on a week night recently. Sat on the patio and enjoyed a meal with outstanding service, and perfect weather. I believe Amber was our server and she was excellent.Two suggestions.I would reccomend fresh lobster for the lobster rolls. Either sourcing a fresh picked product straight from Maine or utilizing whole and doing the prep. Very dissapointing to see a lobster roll served with the meat shriveled up and 90% of the rich sweet lobster flavor gone from the freeze thaw process.Need a better way to communicate the 20% gratuity/service charge automatically added to the bill. We witnessed guests that didnt appreciate your process and lack of communication. We heard several tables negatively discussing this issue. None of which brought it up to their server. Its not about the amount its the fact that 2 tables didnt notice it and felt they had tipped twice. It should never be left to the server to point it out when presenting a check.To sum up the experience. The service was a five. Food a four with the exception of the lobster roll which was by far the worst ever and most expensive to boot. Will be back in the area this summer and would return to try some of the other dishes.

Absolutely a must dining experience. It has great food great service and fresh fresh well prepared food. It is a little on the upscale price wise but I cant complain especially after you eat youre meal.treat yourself and you will go back time an time again for special occasions or even for just casual dining..its worth it.
My wife and I had the opportunity to get out the Paddock tonight and were absolutely sticker shocked by the prices found on the menu. Thus place was always considered a very reasonable place to go to get a decent meal with great service at a reasonable price. Not that food that we had was bad we just were not expecting a $25 to $30 entrée for a place that has always been more along the lines of a diner. At these prices you would expect a whole lot more in terms of atmosphere and service for these kinds of prices. Grant to they have a sandwich menu on the flip side of there menu that gets down to a more affordable meal but even at that we both felt that these were over priced. My wife had one of the so called Best of York Crab cake sandwiches which cost $19 said to be Im comparison to what they sell in Maryland [these were the selling words of the waitress] but when it came it was mostly BUN. I opted for a $12 Rubin sandwich which came on soggy bread and was at best average that came with a small side salad. I also had a very small crock of french onion soup for $5 which given its size should have been half the price. Needless to say it was a disappointing experience in a place that I grew up with. I give this place two stars.not because the food was bad but because the value is just not there.

Was my first day home in 20 yrs and this fine place was my pick for dinner. Definitely was not disappointed. Ill definitely be back every time I visit the area.
Food was OK. Waitress was dismissive when I told her my husband was celiac, but said ok. His ribeye came out with onion rings on top (which are battered with wheat flour). He carefully scraped off the top layer anyway and ate it, as hes not as sensitive as other celiacs, but she didnt even offer to get another one. I would consider this place dangerous for people with food allergies or sensitivities. The steak was ok, but certainly not worth the price - bland and unaged. The lobster roll was rubbery and tasteless.The crab cakes were pretty amazing, though, as were the shoestring fries, so they get an extra star for that.
In my opinion, the ES pan-fried oyster Swandwich for $17 was a rip-off. Really! 3 small oysters in a bread roll??? I have been coming here for 30 years and may never return. I expected 3-5 xlarge juicy oysters. Drinks are above average price. Looks like coustermers are paying for the pandemic! Good old days are over! Sad

Honest review. Dined in 1-24-21 got the crab dip for an appetizer. No complaints. Server G wasnt pushy, very polite.Got the lober and crab mac and cheese. Good chunks of crab, lobster was very chewy, very very chewy and the sauce didnt much flavor at all.Wife got the tortellini with chicken. Ate maybe 5 bites and didnt eat anymore of it.Match stick fries had almost a freezer burnt taste.No problem at all with the 20% gratuity. In the current situation the country is. If you have money to dine out you have money to tip.

I just read the owner threatening customers on fbook for poor reviews given. Threats of violence. Disgusted by this owner and would never ever return. Stopped in for a beer at the bar while my car was being worked on close by. Bartender was friendly and attentive and the bacon wrapped scallops were absolutely delicious.

If you want to be charged outrageous fees to pickup an order this is the place.Remember when you could order pickup and the business did their job to ensure their employees were paid, nope NOW they divert that to you and I with random fees.Have you ever heard of a pickup fee to tip the cook? Cooks are paid salary or hourly. Where they do that at??

BE AWARE! No matter what type of service you receive, you are forced to pay a 20% gratuity without prior knowledge! We enjoy tipping our waiters especially so when the service is above our expectations.My husband decided to take my daughter and I out to dinner. The waiter was quiet and inattentive. My daughter’s burger was requested to medium doneness and came out raw. We had to tell a waitress that did not belong to us since our waiter never checked in to see if things were to our liking or if we needed anything. He had to ask us what we wanted to do about it. We told him to take it back and get it cooked so my daughter would not get sick. We were never offered anything to compensate for the error. Not even an apology. So when we saw they wanted to force us to pay him $30 for his service it didn’t sit well with us but we did it solely for the rest of the staff since they claim they’re “tip sharing.” Is it even legal to force a gratuity charge without informing the patron first?

Crab cake sandwich was good but served only Luke warm. Fried shrimp average. Veggie of the day were soaked in oil and not thoroughly cooked.
This location has the nerve to automatically charge CRAZY fees for take out that never use to be. They have the nerve to charge 15% automatically just for a takeout order.This is not a good business practice as Im sure they took advantage of the pandemic business grants and loans to make up for the loss every business suffered Including mine.We didnt place our order and this business surely didnt care because the manager wouldnt even take the fee off. Gratuity is something thats earned, not mandated.A $60 profit was loss but they could care less because other people will still pay it even though they should be outraged by that automatically fee.All business practices arent good and Ill spread the word on that.Would give ZERO stars based on TACKY response from them.

Worst restaurant experience of my life! French Onion soup w/Swiss was hot and good and the salad with their homemade basalmic vinegrette was good on salad. Once the meals were brought out my moms haddock with crab cake was hot and ready to eat. My order was not only someone elses order but it was a cold steak. Waitress 10 minutes later brings out my ribeye steak that obviously was sitting for about 20-25 minutes and was also cold. I then order there twin chicken entree, but by the time it wouldve been served it would be around an hour and a half. Proves management cares little about their patrons. I been to way more up scaled restaurants and this wouldve been a free meal by this point. Its not like I have any financial problems or anything or cant afford it, but it at least proves how they careless about quality of their food. I been searching around for a decent place to be a regular each week and for lunch meetings, but I would not suggest this place to anyone. Worst restaurant Services ever! Now to write my other review since Im a YELP agent to another few million followers and 9 other sites waiting for my feedback... I have to get the word out about this horrible place!

They charge 20 percent for gratuity. You dont have a choice. The food was good. I do understand with everything going on but gratuity is the customers choice. It should not be automatically added to the bill. If you are doing it that way then that should be one of the first things mentioned when you are being seated especially at 20%.

Crab cakes were amazing!! You will never go wrong with the crab cakes. You must also try the crab dip, to die for. If you are nervous to dine out, try Sunday lunch not a lot of people. It was just my husband and I and couldnt have been more happy.
