I went in there last Sunday, looking for soccer socks for my daughter, who is four years old and disabled. Knowing nothing about how these are sized, or what my daughter might need, or anything else, I knew I needed help.I entered the store and looked around a bit. I couldnt see anyone available on the floor to help, so I asked the cashier if there was anyone she could call to help me. She asked me what I was looking for. I told her I was looking for soccer socks for my daughter. She gestured toward a rack and dismissively said they are over there on that rack. So, I went and looked.After a few minutes examining what was there, I still wasnt sure which size would be right, so I asked her again if there was anyone who could help me, a question she had not actually bothered to answer the first time. With a clearly annoyed tone, she said she would call someone.I stood there waiting by the rack for five minutes. No one came to help me. Meanwhile, I saw two employees not far away in the shoe area, who appeared to be doing nothing more than restocking shoes that had been recently tried on. The cashier appeared to not do anything to call for help. So, after five minutes of being obviously ignored, I turned to leave, and said I guess no one was going to help me. The cashier, with obvious sarcasm in her voice said have a nice day.Then, I went to Walmart, where I actually got some help from a very kind and helpful employee. Imagine my surprise. I am relatively new to this town, but I have been buying sporting goods at other Big Five shops my whole life. In fact, I have already purchased a pair of trail running shoes at this exact store. However, I will not be giving them any more of my business. They seem to have forgotten the whole point of being a small specialty store, when the huge corporate behemoth nearby gives better service. If you do go to big five, I hope you have better luck at being treated like a customer than I did.

Limited selection but what they do carry is pretty good. Friendly, helpful staff, just be careful about some items being old stock and rotten. I recently purchased a sling shot to keep pests out of my garden and it snapped first use...

I recently visited Big 5 in Yucca Valley to look at telecopes and was helped by a nice young man named Daniel. He was more than patient with me and my twenty questions. All in all, I found what I wanted, got fantastic customer service and the sale was made. Thanks for all the help, Ill definitely be back!

Must admit Big 5 is one of my favs for tennis shoes. Great prices. Arrived at opening 6Feb2020. Everyone very friendly. The gentlemen that were working up very helpful and seemed to like their job. That is hard to find in a customer service job. 👍👍

The staff are knowledgeable about the products they sell and try to go out of their way to help. I bought a pair of defective shoes once that I loved and they were out of that product when I came back to return them. The manager offered to go on their personal time to another Big 5 to get the same pair for me. However I didnt want to put them out so they again went out of their way to find me a suitable replacement. When my daughter signed up for soccer I was completely out of my depth. I never played any sport and I didnt even know that shin guards were a thing. They helped me understand what the fit should be like, and even showed me what size ball to buy (I didnt know they came in different sizes!) for my daughters height. I will continue to shop here, not just because they have a good selection of sports equipment, but because the staff make it worth coming back for.

Bought some ammo here today, and instead of arguing me on some legal technicalities i i presented when she mentioned the background check b/s, she kindly asked me to give her a few minutes and she went into her office and was about 15 minutes before she returned, a bit surprised and shocked herself it seemed, but non the less rang me up with no background check or any of that nonsense. She did her research with the p.c. Codes and law refrence numbers i gave her supporting my claim instead of arguing with me till blue in the face like so many of the other ammo selling retailers. Won my loyalty for good today for sure

The tall lady with brown hair (a little past her shoulders) is extremely helpful. She seems to be a manager but always jumps in to help the customer and goes beyond. One time I had a few minutes to kill and was curious if they sold anything to do with pcp big bore air guns. One look and I had my awnser. Nothing bigger then .22 cal. I was gurnkng to leave when she spotted me and asked if I needed any help. I said no and ggag I was looking for bjg bore air gun stuff she insisted on going into the stuck room to check. Nice gesture but I knew they wouldnt. Still she checked. Her efforts are over and above most in customer service these days.

Waited at the weapon counter for 15 minutes with no help, I walked around looking for a employee and could not find one. Another shopper and I were laughing and making jokes about the store being closed and they just didnt lock the doors or turn the lights off. This isnt the first time this has happened but this time I was about to spend $500+ on a Mossberg but I guess they dont want my money.
