I went in to ask what I thought was simple question about finding out whether a barrel was .223 Remington or 5.56 Nato. It was on a new build and The barrel didnt have it stamped on it which it was. The white hair/white beard guy proceeds to tell me that it is simple, just look on the lower receiver and that will tell you what the barrel is. Then he tells me that .223 and 5.56 are the exact same and that it is perfectly safe to shoot 5.56 in a .223 barrel. He says that they have tested this out, shooting 100,000 rounds and never had a problem. I would avoid this place at all cost and definitely not take any advice from these guys. I am new to the google reviews but if you can comment on my review then please do and let this guy know that he is going to get someone seriously injured with his 40 years of knowledge.
The owner, Steve and all the other workers in Savage are dishonest and rude. I had guns on consignment and they wrote me a small check and would not show me the receipts for the guns they sold. No integrity, no honesty, and as a military veteran honesty and integrity are of the utmost importance.
