This was my first order with Sweet and Spices. I order online. I ordered Goat curry, malai kofta, normal naan, garlic naan, and chicken biryani. Goat was my most favorite. It was delicious and properly cooked with perfect balance of spices. Malai kofta was creamy and delicious. Koftas were soft and properly cooked in the curry. Normal Naan was soft, with layers, and fresh. Garlic Naan was tasty but a bit burned on the back. Plain Rice were soft and properly cooked. Chicken biryani was spicy (I liked it) but it was not the one I used to in India so I am a bit Spector about biryani. It tasted amazing but still it was not what I was expecting. I will definitely try SSS again for other dishes.
One of the best Indian/punjabi store and restaurant in fresno. Their prices are very reasonable and fair.. Im really happy about the customer service and the range of products they have. Their food is finger licking good. I highly recommend this store.
Organic foods for purchase and tiny cafe with amazing chefs. My favorites are Fish Pakora, Butter Chicken, Naan, and Mango Lassi.
This is my go to place.. the people are nice and food is always delicious. They also are a little market with all your Indian spices, candies, snacks, & other needs. I recommend 100%.
If you are looking for mars bars or mars candy bars, frozen samosas, they carry it here. I didnt really like the cooked food too much, it just wasnt my flavor i think, but my mom loves it . staff is super nice and they have a wide variety of packaged food items, including frozens and some different candies and sweets as will. Will definitely revisit and recommend to others.
Love the food, the people are very friendly! Great customer service! Will come again and recommend! Thank you for your kindness 😊
3 stars because I could barely stomach the smell and taste of the goat curry I ordered. I always get goat curry at any Indian restaurant I go to but this dish was too intense for me. Samosa was decent. They also included a little side marinade that had chickpeas and onions...now that I enjoyed and it helped with the taste of the goat.
Staff is great. Raj and the ladies are awesome. Best Indian food in Fresno!!
Tasty food. Tried Malai kofta and samosa Chaat. Both were really good.
This place never fails to deliver. They have excellent food for reasonable rates, there is no waiting time even when the spot is full.
I just got goat curry and rice. It had several 3+ bones in it and the meat had to much fat left on it. It tasted ok but the first bite a bone 2 inches long.
BLAND 😑Ive heard so much about Standard Sweets & Spices that I was excited to take a friend to lunch there today. Because of Covid restrictions we had to get the food to go.We ordered Paneer, Chicken Curry, and Butter chicken along with garlic naan and some garlic Roti. We did mention to them that we really like spicy food. We ordered the food Medium spicy - this was our first visit and the nice lady that took our order thought that was a good choice. Some reviews also said that even medium spicy was spicy so we didnt want to go too spicy and not be able to eat it.We took our order home and couldnt wait to try it.To our great disappoinment the food was very bland. Even the naan and roti were bland. Ive Never had such bland Indian food before.
Is a good spot to get your spices anything you need youre great for your ingredients or whatever you going to make yeah
We ordered spicy goat curry and lamb curry and were disappointed in the lack of flavor and spice. It doesnt even taste like curry and the texture is watery like soup! We went through DoorDash and requested to have everything sent back and our money refunded, as the flavor of the goat curry was non-existent and the lamb curry was extremely disappointing in taste for my boyfriend, who usually speaks highly of Standard Sweets and Spices menu. We will not be going back here!
Friendly staff, food is at back of the little grocery store. You place your order, nice simple menu with pictures and prices. You pay upfront at register. Good price and the food was great. I took mine to go, but they do have some tables and chairs to eat there also. Had butter chicken and chicken tikka with order of garlic naan. ❤
Roties are dipped in oil and looks like frozen ones and shahi paneer taste like off never recommended this place for food but groceries and fresh vegetables are good
Food was a good portion and was pretty good for the price. Ras malai wasnt too sweet. Curry comes with basmati. Paneer was a little skimpy though. I think i had 5 cubes? Id give this place 3.5 stars but I rounded up.
I’ve been going here for years.Order the samosas, butter chicken, and garlic naan. If you do, you’ll be back the next day for more.
Great food and very helpful staff.... The butter chicken is fantastic!
Amazing food for take out and great selection of groceries.
I Love this place. It has great food. I usually have the butter chicken and samosas they are so good. Its a casual place to eat. I work with a Beautiful Pharmacist who is Indian and she told me about this place. Every time we have a party in the Pharmacy we get our food from here. We all love it
A small Indian store with a resturant in the rear. Excellant butter chicken
We came to this place for lunch. we heard about this spot from many people. Well, we were not disappointed. the crew were so friendly and we felt very good. The food was just great. We enjoyed every moment and we shall absolutely come back again. We recommend this place to all.
We love their butter chicken!!!! Highly recommend getting it. It is also wonderful with the garlic naan.
Love the food! Good tea/spice selection too.
The butter chicken with basmati rice here is so good!
Would leave a 0 star if offered. Ordered Butter Chicken. 3 pieces of chicken in a container of sauce. Tasty - but come on! Chicken Tika the same. 3 pieces of chicken, tons of veggies. And 2 giant containers of rice. Goody. For the money = $30 plus before delivery - they wont be seeing my hard earned cash again. Sorry...
My fav place to go for a good meal! Very delicious and reasonable prices. I highly recommend this place. Great job guys! :)
Lovely small, I assume family owned, store. Great food and very big portions of it as well as tastes delicious. They have a good array of indian spices for very reasonable prices. Try something new and stop by here.
Best place to eat out, feels comfy and the food is great!
Pros: Its definitely a mom n pop shop/grocery store. You wouldnt have guessed that they had a restaurant in the back. It was pretty busy during lunch time but I got my food within ten minutes. I ordered the chicken Tikka and samosas and it was good. The store carries a lot of spices and different types of snacks. They even have sweets! Very friendly and fast service! They give plenty of food for two or for two meals.
They offer a large variety of delicious food. I enjoy dining here. Staff members are always super nice, prices are convenient and the place is always well organised.
Tried this place once with a friend and I am obsessed ever since. I love the good atmosphere and flavorful dishes and beverages. Fantastic work.
I really loved their dishes and service, awesome area close to my house. The cashiers are always kind. Will come back again.
We have been shopping here for years, the couple who runs it are always very friendly and they have a great selection of all the Indian grocery items we need. Their packaged spices, pickles and other items can always be trusted to be fresh. Their samosas are the BEST we have tasted anywhere! All their food is made fresh and hot, and they are really careful not to mix the meat items with the vegetarian ones - which is important to me. They also have mangoes in the summer which are sweeter than in the grocery stores, and cheaper also.
One of my go-to places to grab some food. great location, well kept, and very good customer service. 5 stars!
Indian grocery along with small fast food place. Reasonable variety on the grocery side, limited but good options on the restaurant side with very reasonable portions. Friendly staff, looks to be family run.
This is not a restaurant with waiters. You pick up the food from a window and sit and eat then put your own plates away and pay at the counter. Nothing wrong with that at all. Very fast service and friendly staff. Only thing was the food couldve been better and with more selection.
They serve large portions and for reasonable rates. nice employees. 5 stars from me.
Excellent Punjabi street food, yummy goal guppas, bhallas, chaat yum! So authentic!Friendly, homely atmosphere!
Had a great experience in this spot with my friend. The food arrived fast and the service is just good. Prices are reasonable.
Had everything I needed for a veggie curry recipe.
Owner and wife are courteous and helpful. I have NOT seen any expired spices here as I have with other stores. Establishment is clean. The kitchen in the back is the place to go for a quick bite to eat. I mention I have food allergies when ordering and they have no issues with that. The only spice store in Fresno, that I will shop. Thank you!
The best customer service ever! I drive across town and pass multiple Indian Grocery stores to go there. They have a good food as well. 😁
Always delicious! I try to go at least once a month and am never disappointed. The hidden gems are always the best. Place is defiantly a mist try.
Unconventional setup but the food is good and the staff is very friendly. The samosas are large enough for 2 and the chickpeas that comes with them are the best Ive ever had. We had the butter chicken and chicken curry (comes with rice) Id give them both 7.5/10, just not a ton of flavor (salt helped). Well be back though to try out their other dishes.
The food was fresh and amazingly tasty. The service was warm and inviting i really enjoy going to this shop. I always find everything im looking for. Overall the food and service was excellent. I highly recommend standard sweet and spices.❤
A little shocked at my first experience today considering the reviews...everything was just missing something. Spice, salt, heat...it just fell bland on the tongue. The saag paneer was scalded and tasted like the burnt pan, that was a bummer. The naan was outstanding and so was the ras malai but everything else fell very short of my expectations. Also, the online menu prices need some serious updating. Make sure you get a total before you hang up because it’s going to be more than you expected.
They sell the best samosas in Fresno for sure! I’ve tried going to other Indian restaurants but you can’t compare! The butter chicken with naan is also very good 👌
What a find! A great Indian market with an authentic kitchen in the back.Hubby runs the market and will source any thing he can for you. Wife runs the kitchen and will cook up a custom dish.Live this place.
Great place, I will definitely go again if Im on that side of town. SUPER friendly staff. Nice little market as well.
Best Samosas!! absolutely delicious and i have been to many Indian restaurants. definitely recommend
Great food, friendly service are what you find at this hidden gem in central Fresno. I must have driven by it dozens of times before I finally went in because I saw the reviews. What a find! We ate there the first time, but its basically a take-out place. Dont go there for the atmosphere, go there for there for the food and to support a great local business.
Superior service and quality ingredients make this hidden gem. Family friendly, fast service, Owners/Managers are awesome, very friendly and welcoming. Hospitality does Not run short here!
You Are Looking For INDIAN spices!!!Here All you Need For your Indian Dish or Vegans Life Stile; a was Looking for Millet & they have Like 3 Diferents on Grains & Powdered.
This is a nice hidden gem in Fresno. Its not that the store is hard to find--there is a very big sign--its just in a very run down looking strip mall. The store has a restaurant at the back that serves delicious authentic Indian food for a good price. The store itself isnt a full market, but has a nice variety of Indian sundries. Every time I am in the area I buy a different kind of tea or sweet treat. I was really happy to find a very tasty bottled mango lassi for $2; it tasted just like a freshmade one. In addition to all of the shelves of dry and canned items, there is also a small frozen section that has a variety of interesting Indian foods. Plus a small grooming section that has some things like henna, hair oils, and soaps. If youre looking for a particular ingredient for an Indian dish (or even a general south Asian dish), this place probably has it. Also great if you enjoy browsing ethnic foods and finding new things. Even if you dont, its worth dropping by just to have lunch or dinner at the restaurant.
You have to check out the Indian food restaurant in the rear of the store. It is good food.
Owners are friendly & nice, these are kind of people who are happy to help with anything in their store. I go here just because owners are nice & they make an effort to engage with you as customers.
Good food. Cheap. Utensils arent always the cleanest. So keep an eye out. But good authentic Indian food with nice spice levels.
What a neat and friendly place! They make food in the back for eating there or take out. Everyone is so friendly!
These people were extremely helpful and professional. Some Uber eats driver tried to rip us off and they were actually going to replace our food for free. I havent even received mtly food yet but I highly endorse the integrity of the running the show .
Excellent products delicious food wonderful honors great customer service
My favorite place to eat. Delicious, friendly, and can’t beat the prices.
Always good quality groceries and food. Very reasonably priced too.
This place is awesome, the owners are always very friendly, and they are helpful as well. I come stock up here every few months on spices/mixes, but sometimes Ill stop by just to browse. I always buy something because everything is so reasonable.
I come here regularly. The food is alright. I like them because it is a take out place and I really enjoy Indian food.
Incredible food....best Ive had my new favorite place...the butter chicken just melts in your mouth
This place is also restaurant in the back. Food is delicious and the owners are so kind.
This place is unbelievably good food is so good and quick
Good food & items 👍 and friendly people.
Best Indian food for the price I ever had. They made it really spicy samosa, just the way I asked. Will come back again, if I am here back from oc. Loved the fish pakora also, Indian version of fish and chips.
GREAT FOOD AND AWESOME PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE. I LOVE IT.
Friendly staff and the small restaurant in the back serves really good food.
Had the Butter Chicken dish. Was enough for 2 meals and amazing!
Great food. Very friendly.stire is nice and clean
The food is excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. I like the product variety also.
Theres a small restaurant inside this grocery store which serves good food thats reasonably priced.
Delicious! The perfect lunch on a road trip
Ive been here so many times!! This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants! You can definitely taste the homemade taste! Ive brought a couple of friends and family and theyve fell in love as well!My favorite dish, Butter Chicken, Basmati Rice & Garlic Naan :)
They are always so friendly, welcoming, and helpful!! And their food is amazing -- great portions!
Some of the best prices and authentic Indian food youll find around.
Wonderful owners, wonderful food! One of my favorite Fresno restaurants. Kitchen is in the back of the grocery store. Unassuming but delicious. Very good staples butter chicken and chicken tikka - but better than I’ve ever had (including in India!). Plenty of vegetarian too. Pani puri/ golgappa. Mango lassis just right mix of tart and sweet.
Stopped by before heading to Yosemite. Didnt know what to expect, but the service was amazing and everything was delicious! We ordered the chicken curry, lamb curry, somosas, and fish pakora. Everything was cooked to perfection.
Found some very unique spices here very suprising
Lovely little Hole-in-the-Wall Indian gem! I was recommended this place by some really wonderful friends of mine and this place did NOT disappoint. I ordered the Samosas appetizer plate and the butter chicken and garlic naan. Oh WoW! The Butter Chicken has got to be the BEST butter chicken Ive had in town. The chicken was cooked to perfection! The fresh garlic naan was to die for and the samosas appetizer plate was amazing as well. Definitely adding this to my list of fave places in town and definitely bringing everyone here and recommending it to everyone I can!
Very very good Indian food in the back of the store. Try the buttered chicken, fish pakora or the goat curry.
Good tasting Indian food. Simple but delicious
Authentic and delicious Indian food. Its the best in town.
Food is Delicious eating there today big quantity quality amd friendly workers
The people are friendly and they have fresh spices and vegetables and also serve hot and fresh Indian food
My girlfriend and I ate here ordering around 4 dishes. Each one was very delicious and well portioned. Upon paying we were suprised at the price and how much money we had left. The cooks well season their palakpaneer that it is an explosion of flavor transporting me back to my days in India where i was hunting down elephant poachers and sending them to the slammer. The butter chicken shocked my pallet to life like an AED to a victim. The samosas made my mouth water with every bite, and with each of those bites i was no longer in fresno, but back in India eating Samosas from street carts before raiding the homes black market animal dealers. Damn this place is good.
Very good products and very good service. I bought cheese and everybody was asking where I got it from to get it from the same place.
Actually a nice place for shopping, and good food
Best India food and grossery..samosa chana with masala chai is awesome 😍
A small store, made smaller by the space lost to their little restaurant. The food is ok. The selections in the store are very limited, but sometimes they might have some of the basics you need....I only go there if I needed to go to Manchester Mall and I needed some spices too.
