Aug 30 2019 Entrance to Stewart Beach with parking (and in-and-out) only $15. The beach was relatively clean. Gulf water was calm and life guards were present. Restrooms - no trash in stalls nor shower room. Showers were available but meh.No snack shop open.Everything was fine on the beach, until we were flanked by happy folks blasting tunes undesirable to us. πWhy cant folks just unplug? πGlad we made it out, though. β
We liked the way they fixed the building for souvenirs and fast eats and some shade to seat and eat. The restrooms were clean and well kept up. I do think having a free area to park for people not staying long to come and go would be a great feature here. Like a 2hr parking in front and monitored by management.
Love this beach have gift shops you can get everything you need if you forgot to bring something from home some of the stuff is a little pricey but still a nice place to go
The beach is very clean and even has chairs and umbrellas you can rent for $35. My family brought our own umbrella but couldnt get it into the ground but the beach attendant dug a hole out for us which was extremely nice of him. We brought our very active kids and a very beautiful beach attendant (whos name slips me) gave them a tour of the beach and helped them catch a fish with nets and explained to them why the water was brown. The best beach Ive ever been to worth the money for sure.
An OK beach. I believe it was $8 a car to enter, and $30 to rent the umbrella and 2 chairs for the day. There are MANY umbrellas set up, so unless the beach is super full you can always find one. You can set up your own of course, but I think they make you put your umbrella/chairs behind the rentals. They remove the seaweed, so its a bit nicer than just parking anywhere along the seawall and swimming. There is a good length of sand for kids to play in, of course Galveston sand is not deep soft sand you get at beaches on the east or west coast. It is a very large beach, so even during busy season youre likely to find a good spot. The building is handy, a fair walk to get to it depending on where you park, but free bathrooms, showers and a small souvenir shop and food you can buy is nice after a long day on the beach. Showers/bathroom are not super clean, but they are large and good in an emergency. We visited over Easter, on 04/19/2014. The beach was not very full, the water was still cold (it gets rather warm and gross in the summer time) so it was an enjoyable visit.Cleaner and more sand than just parking along the seawall, though it does cost a considerable bit more. Also, Galveston is now charging the public to park along the seawall, so be aware when planning your trip.
Best Galveston beach for families. $12 fee and I think if you come early you can get a discount off that fee.Parking is easy and located close to the beach. You can rent chairs on the beach. Ive never been on a holiday weekend but its usually not too crowded. We have plenty of space and dont get crowded out by other beach goers. You can only have canopies in designated areas and this area is pretty far back from the water. We dont even bother with bringing our canopy. We bring a blanket and lay out and swim. You are allowed umbrellas and chairs. They have showers and restrooms that get cleaned throughout the day. They are pretty clean all things considered. They also have concessions and a kids playground.
Great place to take the family. Large open sand beach with umbrellas and tents to rent or bring your own. Parking is $12 on a Saturday. With that you can stay all day and use their facility with running showers and I believe a gift shop. Will definitely come back again.
This is a great place to see if you are in Galveston. It has some great souvenir shops and has its own little amusement park. The amusement park to me is way over priced for what you get which is only a handful of rides. Other than that I highly recommend visiting.
Excellent place for the whole family. πππ
Love the lay out and all the souvenirs to bring home to my friends and family. I got to take some nice pictures of the beach that this place over looks. If you want your friends to know you went to Galveston, come here. Lots of great gifts and some cool home decor items to fit your beach themed motif.
Want to get away to the bay....Great spot. Nice hotels sitting right on the coast, a beautiful site in the mornings as the sun rises and late evenings sunset. Many attractions and great restaurants to choose from on the seawall. There are also other attractions off the seawall to enjoy. Whether it be romantic or a family week/weekend you can enjoy a few days on the bay!!!!
If spending money to enjoy the sun is your idea of a good time this place is perfect. An umbrella rental is 25, umbrella and 2 chairs is 35, each chair after that is 10. Youre welcome to bring your own blanket or pop up shade but you have to set it up about 100 yards from the water. Oh by the way, you have to pay admission to enter too.
Even on a Sunday afternoon it was not crowded. Water is not crystal clear - thats the nature of Texan beaches. Showers should be upgraded and be more clean. The beach, however, is nice and clean. There is a paid parking as well as a free(but small - which didnt look like a preferred one) parking. But even the free parking was good enough during the day time.
An employee (Chase) was super friendly and showed us some great smelling candles that were made with coconut shells at the bottom and could float on water. They smelled AMAZING! The store had a variety of merchandise for sale and a welcoming environment.
Very nice and clean π. Restrooms and showers were available π. Chairs and umbrellas were available there for rent. If you want to set up your tent, You have to be far of the water π, and the parking lot is far of the water too, so you need to walk with your stuff from the car to the water π. When I was in my way to Galveston I stopped in samβs club and bought a big umbrella and 2 chairs, so I didnβt need to rent an umbrella there..
Paid $15.00 to park on a Saturday which I felt was a little steep; however, you do have to take into account the showering and restroom facilities that are convenient. Overall a clean beach with a family atmosphere. Galveston is Galveston. Overall I would go again.
This is another place that you need to have on your bucket list. Very cool place to find sand dollars or anything else on the shores of Galveston. Very historical place thats free for the whole family to enjoy
Great place to find some inexpensive treasures!! Not packed during the week so thats a plus!! Staff is friendly but if youre looking for something particular, you have to go up to the counter and ask, maybe because it was a slow day.
Beach is fine especially with kids but they turn off the water for the showers before the stated time. I specifically asked the attendant that takes the money for parking when they would turn off the water so that I could plan my time and they shut it off twenty minutes before the stated time. This happened three times this summer. Wish they could be more organized about this.
Good place to buy some cool stuff after relaxing at the beach and has nice workers will recommend!
This was our first visit to Galveston Island and our first stop was Stewart Beach. Even though all the things I read online said that this was a hustling bustling spot, you can imagine how come and Serene it was on an unusually warm February day. Generally speaking during peak season you have to pay to park which is not unacceptable. However in the off-peak season we were able to drive right and park along the beaches Edge, enjoy the beach at our leisure, and Android completely hassle-free day. There are usually souvenirs, snack shops and public restrooms available during the peak season. But porta potties were all that were available during winter months!
We were here for world oceans day. It wasnt too crowded. Parking was 10$. The showers were up in a large building, pretty crowded. The beach was not really clean. We didnt try the gigantic slide you see in picture. It cost 5$ or something for 2 rides. A regular sand shower would have been nice to help us get through the bathroom faster. I prefer a beach further down the coast like Jamaica beach.
Cost $15 to park. They have all in amenities you need but a list off rules of things you cant do you wont believe! No drinking is one of them. A good beach to take the kids.
Very clean and lots of places to enjoy the beach. Went to a friends wedding and it was great. Love Galveston π
Its clean and the showers, bathrooms and changing areas are a plus. $35 for rental of 2 chairs and 1 umbrella seemed a bit unreasonable, even by todays standards. Remember to bring, or even buy, your own. It will be cheaper than renting whats there. Parking fee is reasonable, life guards were present and we had a good time.
Conveniently located about an hour and half drive. Water is a little murky but the beach is clean and patrolled so no glass allowed. Its not a beautiful beach but is good enough for a day trip with the family. You can take your own ice chest with food and drinks or grab something before going through gate entrance, but there is also a nearby beach shop that can cook something up for you at a price $. The bathroom area is so wet. Is best to go already dressed in bathing suits to avoid that area if possible.
A great family beach! The only one weve been to in Galveston because we have such great experiences here. Weve never come when its crowded, but we usually come on weekdays. Parking is free with wounded veteran license plates. Life guards on duty, chairs and umbrellas for rent. Close to a Walgreens if you forget something, a few restaurants nearby as well.
So relaxing here even with a lot of people. Restrooms are close by and access to umbrellas for rent was great. I wish they werent so expensive but overall worth the trip.
Had a great time with the family. Beach was clean, you dont have to walk very far, they allowed canopies, they had showers (not the best but they worked well). Overall a great family friendly place to enjoy the beach. The water was also surprisingly clear for a Galveston, so that was a plus. We will be coming back again this summer.
Very nice little shop. Had a good selection of different items and to my suprice they were not overly priced as most shops in a touristy area are.
Great place and a wonderful time! At first I wasnt pleased with having to pay $8 to park but I quickly forgot about it. My husband and I went there a few days after getting married and we were just sitting on the beach feeding a ton of seagulls. Luckily one of the workers took a pic of us surrounded by them, showed it to us and then sent it to us. I dont know many beach workers that would do the same. Love this place!
Plenty of staff, space and accommodations. Showers, restrooms, outside showers, gift shop, snack bar and a lot of things were available to rent and do. Beach area was clean. The price was very reasonable and I will return. My only issue is that you cannot re-enter without having to pay again. They need to change this.
If your looking for clean sand and blue sky ocean water then Galveston Island is not the place for you. However, if youre the average American working class family then Galveston Island is the perfect place for a weekend get-away! Starting with Stewart Beach. Get there early, stake out ideal spot between the beach and its gift shop/ showers, and restrooms. Renting an umbrella and chairs a bit pricey ($35), but a must against the Texas sunshine. Parking $10 and the staff were great and helpful. Also has life-guards to keep a look out.
We had a lot of fun, but the beach was kind of busy. The gift shop and food were nice though.
My opinion is I like this beach because it has shower and restroom while go to beach. It pay $15 for parking. I suggest yall need to bring your own chairs and umbrella than pay more money.
A little grubby but understandable. Pizza is greasy but good. Recommend Footwear in the showers hit the Quan.
This was my sons 1st time at the beach. Galveston is such a great city. Stewart Beach is very nice, the views are awesome. I recommend going to Stewart Beach Park before summer time hits.
If you looking for better beach π΄ theres nothing better like in our stateππjust to relax with family and friends.ππ
Love it here this spot is amazing I will continue to come here with my kids =)
Nice, white, fine sand. The water is nice and warm, not too deep. It would be good if there were multiple restroom stations spanning the beach.
Love this beach and they have showers which is a plus if your just going for the day!
I love this place so much..Ive been there many.... many times with my friends and families... They also have a good bathroom....where you can take a shower πΏ after swimming..
Super Impressed with this beach. It wasnt too full, sand was extra soft and white, beach was a beautiful dark blue color. It definitely exceeded my expectations as everyone always talks bad about galveston so it was my first time coming as an adult and I enjoyed it so much. Definitely plan on coming many more times.
The place has wifi, super surprising and is kept clean and nice. It is $10 to park which is, in my opinion, not at all worth it, however the facilities are decent. There are scattered lifeguards on duty and at times it is very quiet
The beach was dirty with trash. The bathroom area was not worth the $15 that we paid to park and use their facilities. I recommend driving down Seawall Blvd, parking right next to the Seawall, and using the beaches there. They looked cleaner and were less crowded. Also, Galveston beaches and water are far from ideal.
Clear and steady water. Barely any waves. Always a great place to set up, under straw umbrellas or small huts for family picnics. Watch out for jelly fish though, they tend to float onto the shore line often. Also there are available port-a-pottys at everyones disposal. Besides that its a beautiful and clean beach to spend time
Very nice clean place, Clean bathrooms, great staff, very friendly and knowledgable, loved this place and the family will be back !
This gift shop was huge! They had a great selection of shirts and dresses! Also a plethora of souvenirs and other vacation trinkets. There were also snacks available.
Great place to take the family. Clean facilities and easy rental of umbrellas and chairs. Definitely worth the day trip to play on the beach
The building isnt great, but its pretty easy to find parking (unlike at the Seawall). The beach is pretty well kept, but it can get really crowded too. Probably renting a beach house with a few friends is your best option.
Its has a great view of the gulf while you sit at there benches wen trying to get out of the sun
It was fun, but very crowded. Its also annoying that if you dont rent a beach umbrella, you cant sit in the shade close to the surf. And the bathrooms were pretty filthy, so be forewarned. Our family had lots of fun there, though.
Awesome weekend for the beach! Water was warm and clear. Not murky.
We went hear with our kiddos. Paid the 8.00.. Cleaner than the free beaches in Galveston. Has seaweed...but hey its the ocean .... Has showers inside the restrooms. And little showers outside just to wash off. busy, but not aweful. Was able to get a good spot. Has lifegaurss, beach volleyball, snow cones and food....The only thing I didnt like was to get a seat you had to pay $30.00. They should make these a little bit more affordable. .All the staff members were nice and professional... No complaints. Would recommend to anyone with kids.
Not the cleanest but itll do. Lot of water bottle and gatorade caps to be found as u walk along to the water. Its a family beach so lot of families and kid friendly . Life guard and police are present and accounted for walking or driving on the beach. Sno cone guy walked by selling strawberry or coconut flavored cones @ $4 each.
Galveston is mostly a public beach. Why you have to pay $12 to stay there and $35 for 2 stupid chairs and 1 small umbrella. There is to many hidden fees just to be in front of this dirty beach. At least they should maintenance properly. Also I forgot no bbq no alcohol so kinda fun. Texas City beach is so far better and cheaper at least you dont see trash on the sand.
Its a nice Beach, and its the only one in the area with real bathrooms and showers. However, the facilities are horribly maintained. The outside showers are broken, the inside showers have no shower curtains and and are disgusting. The $10 parking fee is clearly going to subsidize the Galveston general fund instead of funding operation of the beach park itself.
Excellent place to walk along the beach. Night time can be a little more busy. Best time is during the day. Would not recommend driving your car on this beach, we saw a brand new BMW get stuck in the mud here (recent flooding at the time).
The workers here are so nice & helpful! They have so many souvenirs, beach toys, & swimwear! I love how they have a snack bar & the picnic tables outside so you feel the beach breezeπ΄π΄.
Great place to grab some last minute things you may have forgotten. Very nice people working inside.
Great family beach. Lots of room, soft sand, gentle slope. Playground. Note closing times! These affect restrooms and showers.
I paid the $10 parking to have the close access to the facilities here. When we went in to change into our swimming wear I was surprised to see a free tanning lotion dispenser. However, inside the changing station, could use some work. Several rooms had no curtains for privacy and the several bathroom stalls were out of toilet paper. Also, there was no soap at all when we went to wash our hands, and no mirrors? Also, when we were paying to get in the lady initially told me that it was cash only, then said she could take my CC info and was going to write it down. I thought maybe she had a 4square reader or something, but no she was legit about to write my credit card info down lol NOPE
Not a bad beach. The water isnt the cleanest since it is fairly near the ship channel and I would think that since they go to the trouble of raking the seaweed into piles they would truck it off somewhere. Instead it bakes in the sun into a huge stinking pile.
There was a lot of seaweed, especially close to the beach. However, it thinned out as you went out so that by the time I got out 20 yards there was hardly any at all. It was shallow out that far so my kids and I could spend a lot of time in the waves. The waves were pretty small so my younger kids could manage them just fine. We took our own chairs and set them up right next to the water. The bathrooms werent too far away and most of the showers worked. Overall it was a great day.
Wings. Its a good place to get beach accessories and t-shirts but the staff doesnt speak to you.
Cheap ($8) all day parking, cleaned beaches, and great views of the oil rigs! But seriously, probably the best value when considering beach quality.
The beach area was ok but the parking area and pavilion were a mess. It had rained and the entire parking area was flooded. There pavilion with the bathrooms was surrounded by swampy water that was pretty nasty. The bathrooms were pretty decent inside but they were obviously a little old. If Im going to pay for parking I at least want a decent area to park in even if it rains.
My favorite beach in Galveston island. Clean beach and showers for the whole family and all the visitors are friendly in my opinion i keep going back every year for the past 35 years. Take the family out there my friends.
Great Galveston Beach for the Family!!! Clean, fun and convenient location! Also really like the playground, indoor bathrooms and showers and the snack bar!!! Perfect for kids of ALL ages!!!
