Pretty sketchy store, seems very disorganized and some of the produce was not looking that great. Extremely limited freezer section and overall selection. The one cashier working up front was nice, but it was just him, nobody else. I dont know, my partner and I got some weird vibes. The three police cars out front dont help matters. :/ Prices are normal for a non-walmart grocery chain, good for quick runs.

Store was overly crowded with only 1 (yes, ONLY ONE) register open. But the cashier was polite and apologetic

1 cashier on a Sunday and numerous customers in line... 🤦 looks like someone cant manage this store. Its like that all the time! Horrible can not recommend. Carts and carriers are not there how do you expect people to shop hold it in their hands? Thats the bum store of all save a lots! SAD

I have no complaints. Some stock revolves, always seem to have a lot of the basics though. Milk, eggs, fresh meat I think. Fresh vegetables.

I had gone into this store 3/years ago, it was terrible.Went I today, I WAS SO VERY IMPRESSED, MEAT DEPARTMENT WAS STOCKED WITH FRESH RIB EYES, CHICKEN, ETC. PRICES WERE LOW AND VERY CLEAN.ALOT OF NAME BRAND PRODUCTS FOR AFFORDABLE PRICES.CHECK IT OUT, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.1125 DIXWELL AVE.NEW HAVEN, CT.

They have really good steaks when theyre on sale better than stop & shop or anywhere else that I shop. Other than the long lines they pretty much have everything youre looking for

Hood hot spot. Not ideal but it works. Could be cleaner. Most employees cordial. Quarter operated shopping carts typically stolen... Crucial in the clutch.

I worked for the dixwell ave store in hamden ct and the management sucks the store is nasty the food be expired overall this was my worst job ever in all the years Ive worked Im so glad I quit this job

Convienent. But there’s always only one cashier so make sure you schedule standing line into you shopping time.

I have a few but One major complaint is there are never enough cashiers on hand. Always one register open with a store full of people.

Im grateful for the grocery store since stop&shop is only in Hamden Plaza which is further from my house.I save money there and they have more name brands than before.Decent place to shop,produce and fruit could be fresher at times though.

They tend to run out a lot, especially the collard greens. I also feel that they can do better with the prices. Not everything is affordable.

This is a well needed store in this area. Its perfect when you have yo make a quick run to the store for some bread juice or eggs. It is not a full grocery store but thats just fine. It serves its purpose and we in the community appreciate it. We lost Stop & Shop a few years back it would have been great to have ShopRite but at least we have Save-A-Lot.

I will never shop here again... I brought my Turkey here for thanksgiving and when I thaw out my Turkey to cook it was Bo Good it smelled terrible when I brought it back to the store I was told they didn’t have any more Turkeys and I can’t get my money back either ........ Happy Thanksgiving to me and my family

3-rating for the cashiers because they all work really hard. It’s the only grocery store for two miles from downtown until you get near the Hamden plaza. Good price on canned black beans. Outside of that they’re understaffed and the management seems m.i.a. on some things. Hope to see more lanes open more often in the new year. If not, I’m likely to shop elsewhere.

Actually I went when they first open so is empty was able to get in and get out they were still stocking stuff for the day.

They do have some of the items I like at reasonable prices. I was reluctant at first and decided to go, Im really okay with the store. I have nothing bad to say.

I really like this store. I’ve got a bad back and leg which makes me walk with a cane and the staff here are always kind and friendly to me. They always offer to help if I can’t find something and have even ran up outside to grab a carriage when couple items I was picking up turned to a a few more and I was struggling to manage the items, the cane and a small carton to hold them in.The cashiers are always extremely nice and friendly to me, and it’s a nice experience to shop there. The store is easy to get around in, sometimes they have u-boats or pallets to unload but it’s a very busy place, and it’s not often and not hard even for a guy with a cane to navigate.All in all it’s a nice experience. You save money over a convenience store but may not get the brands of a full service supermarket, but this store fills the bridge between the two nicely band with a exceptional staff you can’t go wrong.

A great store, has a nice variety of different kinds of food, prices are reasonable, staff nice and friendly and the lines are never long in the morning time.

The hours say they close at 10pm so why do they lock the doors early? Unprofessional.

Save-A-Lot SURPRISED me today!!, with the freshest, most BEAUTIFUL produce I have EVER seen there!! I went for a cabbage and was VERY IMPRESSED/SATISFIED!!! 5 STARS!!!

Ehhh not a true fan of Save-A-Lot but there okay as I only shop there for a couple of items I may need really quick and that is normally sm milk a bag of potatoes butter and (their produce looks very fresh)

There could check in the fruits to change the bad ones. Its a place to go in and out quickly when there is more than one cashier.

If ur going to turn away customers for the first hour of store opening for whatever reason u should have it posted on front door not wait till we get up early as hell pull up then u tell me i have to wait another hour smh

Not a lot of variety in what they carry, asked to use the restroom and was told if its unlocked. As it was locked I asked an employee if he could open it and was told that its not for the public. Never been to a grocery store without a public restroom.

Great prices comes with long lines. Sometimes you cant even get threw with a cart. Store is to small and alot of times they only have 1 or 2 lines open. Wish it was bigger and had more employees. Put in self checkout counters.

Horrible. Service horrible, manager horrible. Customer service. One line open to the customers all day. Weekends holidays and 1st of the month. This store has been this way for way to long as a resident in the Hamden I am farious with the way this store my service.

The door to the entrance did not open completely, forcing me to push the door by myself. I went to the bathroom and could not find the toilet tissue. When I did, it was a very small amount. I was uncomfortable with the bathroom service, so it influenced my rating of one star.
