The way a repair shop should be.... Cant say enough... I just bought a replica speedster that has had a few issues. I found Rodger and Dave via a google search and went to them today with a broken relief plug/oil level sensor (or something) they quickly sorted out exactly what I had done and got me a new relief plug. When I got home and attempted to install the plug i just could not for the life of me get it to go in with the spring. I called and Rodger worked some kind of Jedi mind trick air-cooled wisdom on me and talked me off the ledge an instilled some confidence in me. 15 min after that phone call I had the plug in with the spring... Consider my business fully earned from here on out. Thanks guys!!!

Have had 2 Kline Engines installed in the past 10 plus years. All went perfect! Any issues I had were taken care of quickly and efficiently. They make their work right! This is an All American brotherly run business for over 30 years. My friend ordered an engine from Massachusetts and loves it!! A Nation Wide reputation TRUMPS any minor league complaints I might have. If there is an argument, I must say, the customer must have started it, because they want you to be happy!!

Roger and his guys are great. I brought him a Super Beetle that needed an engine. He was upfront and honest about everything. He actually recommended not doing the repair when I was willing to pony up for a rebuilt. Lots of integrity. He could just as easily ripped me off. I will be back!

Completely rude owner. He had no problem insulting you or talking bad about you to his employees while you were in the same room. He was also very upset and continued his insults when all I wanted was an engine, and didnt want to pay for them to install it. I dont know what kind if customers this business attracts.

I hired Klein to install One of their newly rebuilt engines from their floor. They installed it. Two weeks later The number three cylinder blew up. They repaired it and the mechanic told me “the next one’s on you.“ I have since discovered that the engine that they rebuilt has two different types of heads. And now the number two cylinder has a bad valve guide and a bad valve. I also discovered that they left off the shims on the number four cylinder. So now I’m at a point where I must replace the entire engine.No paperwork. When asked for paperwork they said “we don’t do that.“I’VE BEEN KLINED!

Fast, friendly, honest and experienced. I am so happy with the work that Klines did for me. I sent them a 1968 autostick engine to rebuild. They found a crack in the case but quickly found a good dual relief case that worked great. When I went to pick up the finished long block, they invited me to look around their shop. I was impressed with all the VW specialty tools and equipment they have along with their VW knowledge. I got the engine back in the car and it runs great! Thanks Kline brothers.

Both Roger and his brother have been very helpful in assisting me in a motorized bicycle project i have been working on for college. I contacted other Volkswagen repair shops in San Diego asking for help, and i was basically blown off, because they didnt have time for experiments. Roger took 2 hours out of his busy day to help me, answered more than 30 questions i had, and even gave me a bunch of parts to use for mock up, at no cost. Klines is without a doubt the best place to go in San Diego for all your Air-cooled needs!

I drove from AZ, 5.5hrs one way, to visit this VW shop and I would do it again. Extremely knowledgeable people, great product for very fair prices, they’re not afraid to refuse selling you something you don’t need, and all around great environment. This is exactly as I picture a Cali VW shop would be.Rodger was very helpful in answering questions I couldn’t get answered elsewhere, he and his brother Dave helped me to get a great deal on a new-to-me 1600DP for my ‘71 Super.It’s a 700mile round-trip, and one I would definitely make again 🤙🏼

I had them build me a 1915 . I was shocked at how incredible it performed when I brought my case and my parts to them my case was in need of some serious repair and they took care of everything it had messed up.studs they Fixed them for me they put my motor together perfectly he asked me what I wanted and he built it exactly like I wanted and when I finally got her out there it was unbelievable it had all the power that I needed it runs super cool and anytime I have a question I called them and they more than happy to help me. They didnt overcharge me in fact they were super reasonable considering all they did for me I highly highly recommend them and whenever I need a little part there just down the street from me and I know that they will have what I need

This is the only place I will take my VW Bug for repair. Everyone who works there is amazing. Always super helpful. They carry a wide variety of new parts and accessories for your car. They also have a large assortment of gently used materials: seats, rims, body parts, Etc. If they dont have it, they will work really hard to help you find it.

I was recommended to Kline vw from a friend of my dads. Every time I’ve needed something for my buggy they always have had what I needed from seals, studs,ignition, etc. On certain items they would walk me through on how to install the part or item. These guys have always treated me well and it’s well worth the drive.

I broke down on the freeway with a tow truck on its way I had no where to take my car. Despite being completely booked, Roger helped me as soon as the car was dropped off and I was back on the road within 25 minutes. His honesty and great personality made my experience much less stressful along with their amazing customer service. Roger charged me nearly nothing for what he did and I could not be happier. I would use Roger and his crew again and I highly recommend them to anyone. They are awesome!

I called Kline VW because I was on the hunt for a new 1200cc 40hp engine. Roger was very helpful in putting together as stock an engine as possible that, based on a photo I sent him, replicated the original engine with new, reliable parts. The engine was built in just a week or so and shipped and arrived just one week after it was assembled. The engine arrived in great shape, undamaged from the journey from their shop to Minneapolis, MN. There was a minor oil leak from a case stud, identified by the shop who installed the new engine. Roger made good on their 12K engine warranty and paid the repair costs. I will absolutely buy parts or future engines from Kline VW. Great guys, fair price, speedy service, and do what they promise. Thanks, guys!

Just got a long block built by Dave and I couldnt be happier!!! When you walk in theres long blocks stacked mild to wild in stock and every thing to go with them in all sizes from stock to big 2276s!! The amount of knowledge all of these guys have is worth going to Kline, but with it you get honest help and the prices are unreal and unbeatable!! Friendly in person and on the phone! But I bought a rebuilt 1600cc motor from them and could never get it dialed in properly kept backfiring with spark so I decided to open it up and it had both heads badly cracked... ended up having to buy two new heads and slap them on motor runs perfect now

Just called to ask about their engines. Ended up getting advice on how to fix mine, without going for a new motor. Most people dont care about fixing it, just selling a new one. Absolutely great folks!!

Im extremely pleased with the long block 1600 single port engine I got from Kline Volkswagen Repair! The engine just purrs like a kitten. The tip sheet that came with the engine was handy and had good tips on it. I may have the only 1967 VW in the state of GA with an engine with no leaks! I could not be happier with Kline VW repair and their friendly staff. Roger helped me out and answered any questions I came up with. Thanks again!

Last of a dying breed! These folks are awesome and down to earth. A lot of older VW shops have converted to working on pricey air-cooled Porsches etc so when you bring your classic VW to these places, their hourly rates are crazy. Klines rates are fair. They dont look to screw the customer to keep their lights on. They dont talk to you like they are superior and you are inferior. They treat you like a human being that needs help. I have had zero problem with them. I have a 68 Bug and unfortunately the previous owners let it go to crap so its been one thing after another. Though I love the people at Kline, my goal is to never have to see them again except for oil changes...LOL...Great bunch of guys!

Got a Baja bug about three weeks ago and was 100% clueless about basically anything vw. Since Ive owned the bug Ive pulled the engine to replace the throwout bearing and pressure plate pad, Ive fixed a cracked rear torsion housing, rebuilt my carb, and now Im rebuilding the link and king pin front end. These guys have answered every single question Ive asked em and they even gave me tips on how to correctly do whatever I was trying to do. On top of answering all my dumb questions, they have had every part I have needed in stock on hand and ready to go and for good prices. I will be coming back to kline for sure for my baja bug parts and questions. Thanks guys!
