I have been to this particular Houdini’s shop several times. I have bought several trucks here and have - for the most part - been content with the product I received. (Not always satisfied - but content) this last visit however has ruined my view of Houdini’s magic shop. I was buying a trick that I used to preform - this particular gimmick has been reimagined a few times over the years. (I have owned several other versions of this same gimmick and learned quickly what types I liked and what times I didn’t like) I asked the sales man to see the gimmick so I could determine if this was a version I wanted or didn’t want. He told me he was not allowed to show me till after I bought it (understandable) so I asked him a very specific question that would determine wether or not I bought this version of the gimmick. Not only was his answer misleading - it was a STRAIT LIE. The question was a yes or no question. He answered “yes” I got home to find the real answer was “no”I understand salesmanship - I’m usually patient and forgiving when a misleading sentence lead me to be live I was getting something better than I was. But this wasn’t any of that. It was A complete an plain LIE.THAT, is unacceptable
Love these stores (NYNY and Planet Hollywood). The people working there know the tricks and will show you how to get started.
Be aware of rip-offs, especially be aware of UFO-card product. The real trick there is how they sell it, in a misleading way (showing you a blinking devices while conducting the trick; those devices have nothing to do with the trick itself).
Fun place. Has entry level magic tricks.
