CarMax really is different from other car dealers. They see vehicles as a commodity, which they are, so there is none of the circus atmosphere seen at other dealerships.I sold them my low mileage, newer vehicle and got much more more than what others were offering. I even got more than what I would have gotten from a private buyer. Note - Car in the photo is not mine.

I’ll admit there were quite a few bumps in the road but our sales representative Kaylee was amazing and because we were so patient about it, they made sure everything was perfect and she did such a great job helping us getting the car of our dreams and making it right for the all the bumps we dealt with. Overall we are very happy with their services and that they made this purchase easier than any of our previous car buying experiences ever were. We will definitely be going back for any future purchases. We totally will refer people to them. They did the same with our niece too.

The initial contact we had with CarMax was great, the sales rep was helpful and kind. Unfortunately, he was not great with the follow through or the process of buying our new car. After our test drive, we decided that we would like to buy the vehicle, and he gave us a list of things we needed to bring to finance through CarMax, but failed to mention a critical component, our SSN cards. He apologized profusely and a manager was able to transfer our purchase from an in store purchase to a home drop-off purchase. The process was complicated as I was bounced to and from different people at different call centers. On Monday night, we had scheduled for a Thursday drop-off during a certain time window, and 10 minutes before that window, we received a call saying they wouldnt be able to make it out because of a paperwork error on their end. It was very frustrating as I had already been on the phone twice with two different people confirming that all the necessary items were received. In the end, one of the managers was able to set everything straight. For our trouble, the manager offered to cover our travel expenses associated with travelling to and from the store when we were unable to purchase the car. We are happy with our purchase, but will think twice about using CarMax again because of the trouble with buying the vehicle.

You can tell she has a passion for what she does. The experience was great! However, once I bought the car and we checked things out it looked like some of the basic services weren’t done. Engine air filter and cabin filters weren’t replaced and were dirty and old and the battery was the original battery from when the car was made. It’s over 5 years old and should have been replaced. Other then that, it was a good experience!

I asked for a car to be transferred to Loveland on Sunday. I got an email saying it was reserved just for me. On Monday I got a text asking when it would be a good time to reach me. I responded with a time. Never heard from them. I got a text the next day asking when it would be a good time to reach me. I responded with a time. Never heard from them. I finally called on Wednesday and after waiting for an hour Im told the car was transferred somewhere else.

I had an excellent experience purchasing my Chevy Volt from CarMax. The whole experience was refreshingly smooth and easy. One thing to note: the salesperson I worked with was very low-pressure, which was great. But he was also not very knowledgeable about cars. I think these days they rely on the consumer to do their Google research before they arrive, which I did so it was fine for me.

HORRIBLE experience!!! The sales manager named Lee is worthless. He never returned my call and ignored me when I went in person - even though he is supposed to handle returns. Due to a relationship breakup, I wanted to return and have a separate repurchase done on a vehicle that I had cosigned on. It had only been two weeks since the purchase when I tried this and they are supposed to have a hassle free 30 day return policy. I called in and clearly explained my situation and was told that they could easily help me. When I got down there, about 15 minutes later, they told me that they couldnt do anything to help and that I should just go get another loan to refinance the vehicle. I said that was unacceptable and explained again that I had just spoken with a lady who said that what I asked for was easily done. The salesman said that he asked the few ladies in the office if they recalled speaking to me and they all said no. I dont know if he was lying or they were, but cant believe that they couldnt recall a very specific conversation from about 15 minutes prior. They said that it would take around 30 days to get the title work taken care of by the state and they couldnt help me until then. (which would be beyond the return period) I problem solved for them and provided myself my own customer service by demanding they take back the vehicle, sell another that will be returned in trade for the original once they had the paperwork. I didnt know who he was since we hadnt met, but I had seen Lee several times through this process as he walked by and ignored me and never introduced himself until he asked me to sign two papers to complete the return. He then simply said, Thanks for coming in tonight. and walked away. No apologies, well wishes, concerns, cares, nothing! I have purchased 3 vehicles, traded in 2 vehicles, and sold 2 vehicles to CarMax. I will NEVER do business with them again!!! In the end, they did what I asked in the first place - unfortunately they were too rude and incompetent to accomplish this without losing a customer.

Alan M was wonderful to work with! He went above and beyond for me when I was being a total pain in the a**. He transferred multiple cars for me with a smile on his face and never once acted like I was putting him out when I decided it wasn’t the one, he just ordered me another one gladly. He helped me make a good educated decision and was completely honest the whole time. I never once felt pressured or haggled like I have buying cars before! In total my experience with this place has been a horrible 3 month journey. I was called names, they lied to me and Dodge as well as with holding information. After causing more damage and not being able to fix the original problem the service department sent it to Dodge. Dodge spent 2 months repairing the mess Carmax had made. Today I finally picked it up from Dodge and went to Carmax to continue the fight. This is the short version of the story. The sales manager Archie attempted to do something to make it right, but at this point there is not way they can make it right. The service department needs to make it right and be held accountable.

Traveling from Wyoming made it that much more stressful and difficult, however, everyone at CarMax was understanding, helpful, great at what they did, and extremely kind! Went to CarMax to purchase a new car for my fiance, Harper the sales consultant was awesome very helpful and answered all questions that we had. It was a friendly upbeat environment no pressure relaxed environment. They have really good prices and really good cars their staff is friendly and knowledgeable throughout the entire car buying process. Helped my mom with buying a new vehicle. We looked at a number of different options and settled on Carmax. Having the availability of a vehicle being transported to your location is a great benefit. Often they can do it at no cost. I think they do charge a bit more than your rinkie dink used car place because of the benefits they provide but I do think its worth it knowing youre getting a vehicle that has been properly gone through, plus the 30 day guarantee they offer.

My car has some issues with the windshield and driver seat window sealing. My sales representative said the service department will reach me out for the repair of it. I have not receive any call back 2-3 weeks now.I called back to the sales and he never pick up my call. I called the center and ask him to reply and update about the repair plan and I have never get a call back.I need someone to help me to fix the problem.

Overall good experience, although can be improved. We got a nice car we liked. First, the final price they emailed us was incorrect, someone messed up the taxes and fees, so we ended up paying $300 more than what we were first told. Second, the battery only lasted until we got the car home. The next day the car wouldn’t start, and charging the battery didn’t help (a telltale sign was also the car needing a jump on the CarMax lot for the test drive). So now I need to cash out another $170 for a new battery. The salesman also told us they do not service the vehicles, just check them and top off the fluids if needed. Not a big deal at least for me, since I always do a full service any time I buy a used car. But having a service history would be good, which they didn’t have. A plus: shortly after we left the lot with the car, it developed a squeaking noise from one of the wheels. We returned immediately and they were able to find and fix the problem in a few minutes. I am also happy to have a piece of mind with CarMax warranty.

We purchased an Infiniti QX50 last month. Two problems. They were supposed to replace a damaged mirror and the sales tax has yet to be paid to Laramie County Treasurer in Wyoming, leaving us unable to register the vehicle. We’re getting legal input tomorrow. DON’T BUY HERE.

My experience at the Loveland, Co CarMax store was excellent due largely in part to my salesperson Cole Johnson. Cole went above and beyond any car salesman I have ever dealt with he was very professional and made sure I was taken care of throughout the whole process. He kept in constant contact with me to insure my needs were met and it was the most pleasant experience I have had at a car dealership. Cole is the reason I would return and will return to CarMax for my next vehicle purchase. I also sold my old vehicle to CarMax and the process of appraisal and offer was efficient and swift very easy to deal with and again a pleasant experience. Thanks Cole!

Ive never had a bad experience at CarMax. Trevor and Ivan are personable and professional. I’ve had three previous transactions with Carmax. They all went smoothly and were very very pleasant.This time was horrible.I made an appointment to test drive a car. I drove 45 minutes to get to the store. The car was not ready. I was asked to wait.I waited another hour.The car was still not ready.Yet, unbelievably, it took another 30 minutes at the front desk to reschedule a test drive in the same vehicle. The same vehicle.Apparently, you have to talk with the sales manager to reschedule a test drive for an appointment they broke.No one kept me informed. I now drove 45 minutes to get home.Three hours wasted.Not even so much as an apology from a manager.And to *test* drive a car you’re Going to finance with Carmax, *every* time you want to test drive a car, when you make the appointment, you are asked to pre-qualify for financing if you are going to finance through Carmax.I wanted an appointment to *test* drive a different test car. I had to pre-qualify again. And again the next time.I called to ask what documents I needed to bring to complete the financing, since I intended to buy the car.I was told that I had to qualify for financing again before they could tell me what documents to bring.I was told that the necessary documents had to be associated with a particular car.This is nonsense. After 15 minutes of talking to a pleasant but uninformed person at the desk, I was slowly transferred to finance. Again I was asked about what car?Unbelievably again, it took another *30* (I’m not joking) minutes with the finance person, saying over and over and over again that I was *already prequalified* and only needed to know what to bring. Thirty minutes to find out that I needed to bring a utility bill and my last two paystubs.This is for a test drive. A *test* drive. All I wanted to do was drive the stinking car. Finance?They calle it a *test* drive for a reason. You go in. You test drive the car. If you like it, you buy it. That’s when to do the financing, not 100 times in advance.Imagine going to any other car dealer for a test drive. The copy of your insurance card and your drivers license and off you go. Imagine if they asked you to prequalify for financing every time you went in to test drive a car. Every time.What is it with Carmax and their, messed up, complicated, ridiculous, and time-consuming process and work-day communications about financing?What is it that I cannot get a simple answer to a simple question?If I call a bank and ask what documents to bring, they just tell me.If I qualify for a loan with the bank, I qualify for an amount, and can buy any car that’s in reasonable condition. I qualify one time, not repeatedly.If I prequalify for a loan with CarMax I have to do it again and again and again and again, answering the same questions, talking with someone again and again and again. It felt like 100 phone calls, all of them during work hours.While the sales person was really very very helpful, which is the only reason I almost gave this review two stars, and although all of the people were very nice, the process is ugly, complicated, time-consuming, frustrating, tedious, and ridiculous.I’m about to test drive another car.But honestly, If I’m asked to pre-qualify yet again, I will return the car I already purchased, take back the money I put down, and gladly buy a car somewhere else.So what about my experience? Truly horrible. Three hours of completely wasted time. Completely unnecessary repeated phone calls.Don’t bother wasting your time making an appointment to drive a vehicle. Or try telling them your financing elsewhere, though they’ll probably want documentation and the keys to Fort Knox before they’ll let you *test* drive the car.Just drive in and take your chances. If you go at all.I don’t know what changed, but the process now is truly horrible.Carmax: pre-qualify me for an amount and don’t pester me further.Test drivers: really, don’t bother.

I had a good idea what my car was worth. I talked to a dealer in Fort Collins, and got a horrid offer. I went out here, and got an excellent offer and Paul my salesman was great to work with. Deal done and drove home to Oklahoma. That’s when Tawny in the Business office went to work retrieving the garage door opener and getting it back to us. I won’t bother you with all the challenges, but she was a Rock Star. Next time I buy a car. I will start at CarMax!!!

The quote process was fast and easy. I had an offer within 15 minutes of arriving at Carmax. A fair price was given for my vehicle that was valid for 7 days. If I could give this location no stars, we could start there. My husband and I were looking for vehicles at this location and NOBODY offered to help us look or even took interest to assist us. My experience was good however, I am experiencing issues with the truck. Turns out their is a factory defect that doesn’t appear to be fixed that I now need to take to the Chevy house to get addressed for a recall. Their is also an electronic issue that I am having that occurs at high speeds. This will be very hard to diagnose and I need to schedule with Carmax garage.These are issues that can be fixed but I have only owned the car for two weeks... How many more issues will I have as time goes on?

I am 69 years old I do not have much tech knowledge so I was confused. The vehicle was advertised to be delivered at my address on the 14th of June got to colorado late July could not be delivered . I needed to pick up 80 miles away. No way I could do this. There was a car max place closer. So had to have it brought there then wait for hours finish I was going pay with debit card but no had go home 30 minutes away arrange a ride next day with a certified check and then had to wait along time. 8 hours later finally got to take vehicle home. The people were very nice . I was so tired. I found it extremely difficult.

I had a great experience buying a car with Lee and Sydney. I went on multiple 30 minute test drives as I compared a Subaru and a Toyota. Lee left for the day, and Sydney came to help me after that. She let me test check out the first car again and was very patient with me as I made up my mind. At no point did I feel pressured. We wrapped up with some financing, which went through quickly, and I was VERY happy with my purchase.

I honestly don’t want to even give one star but I had to give something. If you’re buying from out of state after just moving or even looking for a quality car, DO NOT COME HERE. I was first sold the car WITHOUT paying any state tax so I wasn’t able to register my car. Then, when I brought it back and told them about this they all acted like they had no idea how it happened and I had to rebuy the car and was stuck for hours dealing with that. Then, within the first week of having the car the check engine light came on on the car and when I took it to get fixed was told the battery was faulty. CarMax clearly DID NOT check the car before selling as that is a problem. Then, I was no reimbursed for it when the place I went to was CarMax approved. A couple weeks later the check engine light came on AGAIN. This time I took it straight to CarMax, but not until after having to cal the service department THREE SEPARATE TIMES just to get to talk to a person and not a machine. Once I was finally able to take it in I was then told by the service department that they couldn’t do anything but it wasn’t serious, which luckily it was not. I was so dissatisfied with this store and staff. They acted as if they didn’t care about me the customer. I thought I could trust CarMax after buying from them in California but no. The Loveland CarMax is terrible. Also, do not finance with them. After having to return and rebuy my car for the next TWO months after that I had been charged for TWO DIFFERENT car payments. I had called the finance office TWICE to tell them to stop charging me two different payments. All of CarMax has been a disappointment and I do not recommend them. Through all of the things THEY did they did not help.

I got in a wreck and was in urgent need of a car. I called ahead to put a car that caught my eye on hold. I went in day of the appointment. I test drove the car. I liked it and decided to apply to finance it. I worked with Andrew. He was clearly new and got caught up on a few things. But he was really helpful and patient. I had a few obstacles getting an approval, and he was very helpful in walking me through what alternative documents I could use. And on top of his great customer service, the car had been sitting for while and the battery had died. So they didn’t just charge the battery, they swapped the battery out for a whole new one just to make sure it was good to go. I was able to drive away in the new car. I am super happy and grateful for the experience here. Will definitely be coming back when I need a car again.

What a joke took my Volkswagen to you guys, you had it for like 30 minutes and told me there lots of problems and mechanical issues. Well no first my interior dash cam was on and YOU CARMAX never sat in my car, no test drive. The Video showed a lady with a clipboard open my doors and looked around, never sat down, took a test drive or hooked up a OBDII device to my car, second theres nothing wrong for with my car. No dashboard lights or mechanical issues, you offered me 1,000.00 took my car to Ed Carrol Volkswagen and wow look at that no body damage, or mechanical issues and I got 8,000.00. So you have some explaining to do and quit scamming your customers. Low baller, crooks.

Didnt offer a test drive. Only offered 2 cars if which one wreaked of cigarette smoke! Supposed pin point inspection is a lie. Online offer was nothing close to what was offered at the store. The vehicle I purchased has numerous issues. Total mistake but I needed a vehicle. I do not recommend this scam of a business!!!!

I helped my daughter purchase a car from Loveland Car Max after her car had been in and out of the shop for over a month. She made the 1st payment and 3 days later the turbo went out. She lives out of town so had to call into work for car problems again on her new car. She called the very next morning and was on hold for 3.5 hours when she finally hung up and tried a different number. The service man was not overly friendly at all and I have to say from the time we walked in to buy her car friendliness isnt their strong point. They had no loaner cars and said nothing when she asked a few times about a rental. She could not miss work anymore or she risked losing her job. They didnt seem to care, it obviously wasnt their problem. They told her theyd pay her back if she took an Uber to work and home. 3 days later they had a loaner car. She was told by the manager everyone there would know it was hers and shed be picking it up on Saturday. Upon picking it up, No one knew it was for her, no one knew about paying her back for the uber fees either and 3 hours later she finally got the loaner car. Now mind you all of this is from multiple calls per day everyday with leaving messages and lots of Ill call you backs (they never do) and probably a totally of 8 plus hours on hold. Communication and making the customer feel important isnt on the top of their list, and this includes the home office in Virginia all the way down. She called the dealer today where her car is being fixed because no one would return her calls (not surprising) her car is ready now so shell be taking the loaner back today and hopefully things go smooth.

This was my second purchase through CarMax. They customer service is great, the employees are so friendly and knowledgeable. A couple of the phone calls to the Loveland office left me wondering a bit about my decision to go there. After talking to a couple more people and then going there in person, I was as happy as Id been before. They gave me top dollar for my trade-in and the financing was quick and easy. I would definitely recommend CarMax to anyone. I LOVE my new car!

I started off online and was looking for a vehicle. I have looked off and on through out the last 6 months and saw lots of nice cars, but nothing for me. Yesterday I was on the website and found a car that I really liked. I started the process to put a hold on the car and schedule a test drive yesterday. It was surprisingly easy to do everything. A lady named Sharon texted me to let me know she would be in contact shortly to get more information and everything from there was very smooth. I even changed my appointment to test drive the car to hours earlier and the employees at Carmax were really helpful! Everyone I met was helpful, kind, and seemed really genuine about helping me find the right vehicle for me.

Had a vehicle transferred from Oregon. The process started on April 17th. On May 3rd, we stopped by to see the vehicle, as we were told it was at the dealership. Carmax did not have the title, so we were told we could not even look at the vehicle. We understood we couldnt test drive it, but not even look at the vehicle, even though it was sitting on the lot. Very unhelpful, not a pleasant experience. Also, told the salesperson that we were going out of town and needed to figure out the vehicle before we left, never heard back.

Car was being shipped from a store 2 hours away so my father could join to sign for my trade in as we were both on it. He lives extremely far away. Was told the car would be at my store before my appointment which was in 3 days.. the car still didn’t arrive (yet it’s TWO hours away).. and then got told the downpayment went from 4900, to 12,000... yes 12,000!!! And it’s not like i was told that before shipping it. Was told a HOUR BEFORE any appointment, after he drove 12 hours because he was “required” to be there. I wanted to give them another chance after a bad experience literally a year ago to date.. I guess I was wrong

Absolutely outstanding! Everyone at the Loveland location was super friendly and professional. We had a few hiccups with a vehicle transfer but they helped make it right. Juan our awesome sales consultant was very personable and helpful. Was the best experience I have ever had buying a vehicle and Ive bought quite a few over the years. We found a awesome Jeep Renegade that was just what we were looking for and were able to get it transferred in. The staff was very flexible working with our difficult schedule. 5 Stars! CarMax is in the business of offering you the least possible for your car, so use them as the first quote, then go to a reputable local broker to get a better price. I did that and was pleased to know carmax is easily beaten locally. The evidence of low bid is that they have big shiny buildings which are big overhead, so they fund these building with the low-ball offer given to the customer. The appraiser swoops in like a shark and quickly finds ways to lower the value. In summary: get a quote from CarMax then go to a local broker, if that doesnt work out, return for your pennies on the dollar offer at CarMax.

I have always hated car shopping. Getting ran around like prey in the car lot, and then playing the slide the paper across the table for the price. I LOVE CarMax !! Nice reception when you walk in, simple question about how they can help you, and then they show you where the cars are. You can go and browse the entire parking lot, climb in and look at every single Unlocked car on the lot. If you find something of interest, go back in, and they will introduce you to a salesperson, who can answer all your questions. The price on the windshield Is The Price, no making deals, take it or leave it. In our particular case, we found a make and model we liked. They transported 3 different vehicles in for us to look at before we chose the final one. No pressure, pleasant staff. Got a fair trade in as well. I HIGHLY recommend CarMax if you dont like being hunted as in other car dealer ships. I will continue to go back for all future vehicles.

Not capable of handling home delivery. Choose carvana if you want that service. Had everything set up multiple days in advance. Store informed me they were unable to take an electronic payment for home delivery, so they asked me to go get a cashiers check and send them a copy. I did that and finalized delivery many days in advance.4 hours before delivery, I get a call from the delivery team that they are unable to deliver because I paid in certified funds (at the stores request). I couldnt pay electronically at that point since the store had me clear out my account to pay via check. I contacted Lucas, store manager, and he insisted that they could deliver and still would be delivering the car at 4 pm. He also reiterated that he couldnt accept electronic payment anyways.I then call the delivery folks back and they say the store has no clue what theyre talking about, but per Colorado law the payment has to be electronic.After spending 3 hours going back and forth between the store, delivery concierge team, and national sales, it was decided the only option was for me to spend 3 hours traveling round trip to the store to pick it up myself. They offered nothing to rectify the situation or compensate me for the time spent going to get the check, 3 hours trying to sort out their own internal disagreement, plus the additional 3 hrs it would take me to get to Loveland and back to pick up (other than a free Lyft ride and $300 of a max care plan - like I was going to spend one more $ with carmax at that point, give me a break.)So from beginning to end, I spent over 8 hours coordinating this purchase only to have to cancel the order and return the check to the bank.

Could have been an off day for them... but all the same, we walked the whole selection on their lot and not one person acknowledged us.

I drove seven hours to go pick up a car from the location I was told it was at. I then had to drive an additional hour because the car had been moved. When I got there the car had grease stains all over the interior and some were removed, some were not. The salespeople were fine but I didnt like anything about the experience. I had to drive to a complete different state to have my windshield replaced because it was so trashed that I needed a new one. My entire family has bought cars through Carmax but I will no longer.

After a horrid experience at Greeley Subaru that has us audibly growling at every Subaru we see, we ended up at CarMax Loveland. We both worked with Ray, who is so sweet, chill, and fun to work with. We got my husband set up with a beautiful Kia Soul for the price we wanted. Ray put in for a transfer for the vehicle I wanted and sent my trade in to get appraised. CarMax gave me over $3k more for my car than Greeley Subaru was going to! Ray put up with my impatience over the next few days while my Jeep Renegade was brought up to Loveland (it takes a couple days so they can throughly inspect the vehicles). Ray answered all of my questions timely and professionally. I am telling everyone to go see Ray at CarMax. The business center people were all fun and pleasant to work with and seemed to enjoy working there. This was hands down the easiest, least stressful car buying experience we have ever had.

The service team was quick and efficient and addressed all my concerns during my appt yesterday. They were kind enough to fix my tire that had a nail in and has ordered the part for my dash so that they can fix the control knob for my heat/AC direction. they advised they will call me when the part comes in so I can bring my car back and get it repaired at no cost.

I needed to sell my beloved car during the pandemic so I didnt want to sell it privately and have people come to my house. Instead, I made an online appointment with CarMax in Loveland for the next morning. They were excellent and the whole process took exactly one hour. Everything was handled professionally and courteously. I recommend CarMax in Loveland for selling a car.
