I always have a great experience when I shop at Sports Systems, however one experience in particular recently stood out. I went in looking to purchase my first pair of running shoes. I know nothing about running shoes, so I was hoping I could rely on one of the staff to help me out in finding the right pair. I was pleasantly greeted by Pat who continued to assist me through out the entire process of picking the perfect shoe for me and my needs. She measured my feet, educated me on the types of support and cushion, had me try on several pairs, watched me walk in each pair, had me try on two different pairs at the same time to compare, and shared her personal running stories which was the cherry on top! I appreciated her interest in my running experience and plans for the future. I told her how I am planning to run my first 5k in October and she said she hopes I come back in to tell her how it went :) My favorite thing she said to me was “I hope you keep running!”. Pat was such a delight and I so appreciated her personalized and thoughtful customer service. It’s people like Pat that keep me coming back time and time again to Sports Systems!

The team of people in this shop are so helpful & wonderful! THE best. We only go here for our bikes & help with them. We’ve attended Ross’s bike clinic & loved it! Sharon is always so helpful & attentive & super knowledgeable. Everyone in the bike shop - Weber has helped me several times - are the greatest! They’ve fixed all my bike boo boos, from my crashes, & explain what’s happening so I know. Don’t know what we’d do without them!

I finally got off the rental merry-go-round and was ready to buy skis/ boots/ bindings. I generally find brick and mortar stores full of irritated and under informed humans - so I usually just to to backcountry or another website and call someone to help me. I also do love to shop local when I can so I figured I would give it a try. I got lucky!! I not only met a caring and well informed human. I learned a lot - and Rob was super passionate and helpful. He listened and worked with me. I highly recommend shopping here. I will be a loyal customer. Also the great deal of care and double warrantee that comes with the product makes it worth your time. If you need skis as for Rob!

Great customer service! After purchasing a new bike from the store, I realize the frame was too small. I called Sharon and we discussed my options. I brought the bike back to the store the same day and she went out of her way to make it right. I left the store that same day with my exchange and couldn’t be happier. The service here was great! We recently were victims to a robbery and lost all of our snowboarding gear. Everything was taken, from our boards to our base layers and socks. We went to SS and their sales specialist Kayleigh was incredibly friendly and insanely helpful in pointing us to all the sales they were having and helped us get some excellent gear without breaking our wallets! Excellent service and cool atmosphere! We will definitely be coming back when the snow season begins!

I usually put a board or two on layaway each season, only to find out they aren’t doing layaway on snowboards anymore. It seems like one of the few amenities this place had, is now gone. The internet is now king and only by your own design sports systems. They will tell you they “price match” any competitors prices, but in reality they won’t drop the price to match, they’ll sell you on “oh when you get a board from us you get free waxes, tuneups and edge sharpening for the life of the board” (you get this if you buy a board from them period). I know layaway seems like a weird thing to complain about, but mentally it’s an easier pill to swallow to drop $600 in 4-6 weeks than all at once. Seems like all they care about is the bottom line now, and not offering quality service to the community they used to serve! The guy in the snowboard shop is dope though, very friendly and helpful! Not one of the filthy rich people who do this sport? Check out steepandcheep.com if you want some solid gear that won’t kill the bank, they’ll have snowboards discounted in no time.

My service writer was Ross,… from the start, he listened to all of my questions an responded well with an answer I could understand! I asked many, many questions since I knew nothing about E-Bikes! Ross could have led me to the most expensive e-bike and I probably would have purchased it! I’m a 100% disabled combat veteran and I require certain needs to accommodate my injuries! Ross introduced the Aventon level bike and explained all of the mechanisms that came with the bike! He sized me up and offered to let me guest ride the bike’. Before getting on the bike, he instructed me on how to mount the bike (which impressed me), he then showed me how to start off and when to apply the power assist button! I drove around on the bike,… changed gears and adjusted the power assist buttons according to my speeds. After this ride was completed, we went inside and I continued to drill more questions into Ross! Ross is an asset to your business and I strongly encourage you to recognize his people and sales ability! He is extremely patient and didn’t speak over my head and provided understandable answers! This is a great store, its clean and organized and the staff is helpful. Josh especially spent a lot of time getting me set up with a mountain bike and the correct gear. In the past Ive also been fitted for used skis (as a beginner) and running shoes and gotten plenty of help each time.

Mason C. assisted me in repairs for my bike and provided expert advice on purchasing a backup bike until my bike repairs were completed. He was very friendly and patient. I bought a gravel bike a few weeks ago and have been riding it quite a bit. The gears began slipping in the mid range and the disc was rubbing on the rotor in the front.I stopped by the store today and Nate was able to fix both problems quickly and efficiently. Sharon also was very helpful about suggestions on how to make the wheels tubeless. Something to think about for the future.Thank you for getting me back on the road.

My wife and I are cycle touring cross county (Tucson, AZ to Chicago, IL) self supported via tandem bicycle. We had a bad wheel build on our Rohloff hub rear wheel before leaving home. We began to break spokes two weeks into our tour. This had to be resolved with a new wheel build or our tour would have been over almost before it began :-( We had to be rescued 100 miles west of Albuquerque, stranded on the side of the road, with another broken spoke. We were able to get a ride to Albuquerque where we were pointed to Sport Systems by some local cyclists in hopes of resolving our dilemma. We worked with Nate who completely understood the nature of our plight. He contacted Dave O. one of Sport Systems go to wheel builders. Dave was on a sabbatical but agreed to come in and rebuild our wheel for us. I am happy to report that we are now 700 worry free miles down the road in OKC on our newly rebuilt wheel by Sport Systems. And they jumped right on it and the wheel was rebuilt in less than 24 hours. Our situation could not have been handled any better, any faster or more professionally than by Sort Systems. They minimized our down time and maximized our confidence and reliability of what had been a problematic rear wheel. Thank you again Sport Systems for a superb job, well done :-)

They recorded when I called the shop. They cleaned my bike good.

Ive been a customer at Sports Systems for a little over 5 years now and Ive always been well taken care of. Time and time again the staff proves that they arent just going through the motions and doing their job--they seriously want to help you. Today, I was helped out by William in the Bike department. He not only fixed up my ride in a matter of minutes, he also gave me great information regarding the bikes value which I wouldve never known without him. Sports systems may not look like a local bike/ski shop because its so big, but it sure feels like one.

We had a great experience here. I was looking for a new bicycle and the staff were very knowledgeable about their stock and providing what I needed. They did a great job at being patient and helpful given that I have a hearing disability and I felt like I understood everything they were communicating which is extra effort that I dont always receive. The bike I ended up buying was everything I wanted and was affordable, plus it came with a free warranty and free basic servicing from Sport Systems which will come in handy. I had a great time doing a test drive in the parking lot. Also safe COVID practices were good to see. And I cannot emphasize enough how nice the staff were, Sharon especially. She was great and incredibly helpful.

By far my favorite store for snowboarding and ski equipment. Though it isn’t due to the fact that they stock exactly what people want and stay on top of progression of the sport. It’s actually due to the amazingly kind and knowledgeable staff that can be found in every department. I bought an entirely new set up and I was skillfully guided through each of my purchases. Special thanks to Jose (Weber), Brad, and the cool kid in the snowboarding section with an interesting name that I keep forgetting.... I think it begins with an L?.. regardless...best place for snowboard and ski related purchases, BY FAR!

I was there for about 20 minutes looking for a bike helmet and not one employee approached me to offer help. Whats worse is there was about 4 employees hovering around the register which was about 20 feet from were I was just talking (wasting company time). But not one helped.

I really like the concept of this shop and the services that they offer. The employees who work the register have always been helpful and Rob who helped me pick out skis and boots was very informative and took a lot of time to ensure that I was purchasing the right equipment. However, 3 1/2 weeks after purchasing new skis, I took them in for a wax and noticed an issue with the edge of the skis. I was told to come back the following day to speak to a manager regarding the issue, the following day I go back to the store not only to find out there were no managers working but to also have a technician inform me the issue was the result of my skiing and that the skis warranty would not cover the issue. A helpful lady who was working the register took my skis and information and would later have the owner call me. The owner reiterated the technician by saying the issue would not produce a successful warranty claim and that by processing a warranty he would be asking for a favor if he contacted the manufacturer asking for a replacement. Nearly two weeks went by and I had not heard back regarding the status of the claim so I called the shop and inquired about the claim, I was told by a manager that they had not heard back from the manufacturer and that claims sometimes can take months during peak season. I then proceeded to contact the manufacturer to look into the claim, they had no record of a claim being submitted and noted that claims should take no more than a couple business days to process. After getting the manufacturer in touch with the shop to gather information and retrieve photos of the skis, it was determined that there was a clear delamination issue with the skis, resulting in a successful warranty claim (all within less than an hour). Overall, I felt like I got the run around from multiple employees at this shop, not following up with customers exhibits poor customer service, employees who dont normally interact with customers on certain things should not speak on behalf of their coworkers, and excuses like being too busy are not valid. Especially when you want to be the premier retailer that they declare to be.

Our family greatly appreciates the folks at Sports Systems. Here are two examples why. #1 - The shoe department employees are patient and helpful. They work to understand your needs and help you find a solution. We have a family member with special needs who loves to walk. The shoe experts watched her gait, looked at her feet, listened to our preferences, and have helped us find the correct shoe every time we purchase a new pair for walking - about every 4 - 6 months. #2 - Even though I do not fit the stereotype appearance of an athlete, I got good advice and assistance when shopping for items to support a new athletic attempt. They will take you seriously whether you are seasoned at your sport or trying something new. We highly recommend Sports Systems.

Bike shop review - excellent service, knowledgeable staff, had what I needed, and they gave me lots of good advice. Ross at the bike shop showed me what to get to tune up my tubeless tires (Im new to tubeless) and told me how to add the sealant. He also looked over my bike (for free) and said that Ill need to get the front tire dished but could do that later on when the shop is less busy and it wont hurt my bike to ride on it now. He also adjusted the cable tension and added some lube to the chain... all for free! Ross was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. Ill definitely be coming back for all my bike needs. We rent snowbaording gear from here every year. Its the best deal weve found and the damage waiver for a tiny extra fee is beyond worth it. The staff is always helpful and friendly. We asked about purchasing a board and Sammy answered all of our questions in depth with some great suggestions. If you need to rent or buy gear, this is the place!

I have been in the market for a new full suspension bike for awhile. Meaning I’m ready to drop a significant amount of money on the right bike. Unfortunate for me, I decided to look at the beginning of the pandemic, like a lot of people. I went to Sport Systems wanting to look at inventory and was eager to buy. I had found a bike I liked and that was a good fit for me, however couldn’t get a sales person to even say hi or offer their assistance. The store was busy so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and attributed the terrible customer service to that. I waited a few months and went back hoping for a better experience. Again, I couldn’t get a single sales person to assist me. Mind you, at this time, my wife and I were the only customers in the bike section. With about 5 employees just sitting around. Both times I had asked different salesmen for assistance. The first time, each salesman said he would be back with me then proceed to help male customers. The second time, when it was just my wife and I, I couldn’t even get someone to help me. I have never experienced such terrible customer service.

Everytime I go in with my bike they look at me like I have two heads & seem shocked I need help or have questions about my bike or to buy products for my bike. The shop is always backed up- if one of them is courteous enough to see what you need while waiting at the counter. Apparently they dont need any more business. Laters.

Ok to buy ski equipment however it would be best to do your research on your own and know what you would like to get before going. Would not recommend browsing. Tends to be overpriced even with sale and when purchasing several sales personnel were extremely vague about the return policy. After making a fuss, I finally got an answer. 30 day return policy with receipt if equipment is unused and no custom adjustment were made (ex mounting bindings or heat molding ski boots).After buying equipment and having some issues with the ski boot fitting properly, I returned for adjustments as my right calf/foot was becoming numb on downhill. I attributed this to pressure of the downhill incline on my larger right calf and initially staff there agreed. However after trying to heat mold and seeing how I moved in the boot, I was then told I have the wrong boots as I could not flex the boot properly. This was a bit upsetting as I had been recommended these boots by another staff member at sports systems. When asking what this meant, the person I was working with recommended a heel lift. We shall see how this works out however I did not leave feeling confidence in the adjustments made.

Rented skis a day ago, got to the mountain to find out that the boots wouldn’t clip in to the skis. They popped off multiple times while on the mountain and not because I was doing crazy things, I would be going downhill and they’d just release my boot. Spent most of my time trying to get my skis on but they simply wouldn’t connect, I even had to ask for help for the rescue team and they couldn’t get it on either. Injured my knee very bad from the skis popping off mid-ride and when I took them back the manager told me “I must’ve not known what I was doing” and since I signed the damage waiver they couldn’t do anything about it, even though I didn’t damage the skis. They damaged me. Not renting from here ever again.

A few months after buying my bike from Sports Systems, I demolished my rear derailleur, hanger, and chain on a boulder.I took my bike in and they gave me a great deal on the parts and labor to get me back on the trails in no time. Excellent crew, always helpful and friendly. They also have a great selection of bikes, gear, and apparel.

My review is based mainly off the running shoe department but I plan to come back because of the great experience! The store is large and has areas devoted to several different sports and I plan to come back to check those out.The gentleman who helped me pick out new running shoes was knowledgeable, patient, and attentive. He spent time with me and did a thorough foot analysis, discussed my shoe preferences, running style, and recent running injuries. He was genuinely interested in assisting me and gave me some excellent tips. Price was standard but there was a promotion with my purchase so that was nice. I will be back!

I rented skis for the season from here last year. It was pleasant, easy, and affordable. This year it was still a great price but a miserable experience. This store handled social distancing so poorly by having people wait in line inside the store instead of outside. They did not space out the area where people were trying on boots and waiting in line for skis. The employee helping me with my boots was so rude and passive aggressive. Since there is no other store in town to do a season rental from, I feel like they just don’t care because they know they will get business anyway. This is only my second winter skiing so I didn’t want to invest in purchasing equipment just yet. But after this experience I will be buying equipment... and it won’t be from here.

They were extremely helpful and efficient.Easily one of the best retail experience I have ever encountered.The service was rendered on a bike purchased from another retail outlet.It made no difference in their approach or service outcome.Take your bike here. Wow! Probably the best bicycle repair shop in Albuquerque! They expertly repaired the 8 different bikes I took in. They can repair any make, any type, old or new. (These are all non-electric bikes.) They fixed my 1977 KHS Road Bike; an old 1986 Mtn Bike (damaged & stuck freewheel, chain, shifter); various old road bikes; a damaged 17-year-old tandem; and my wife’s 2001 touring bike which had a very challenging list of pretty complicated problems.This is a world-class operation. If you take your broken bike to them, you will have a very high chance of a successful and complete repair. A+. 10 out of 10.

I made the mistake of buying a mountain bike from Walmart and building it myself. I was impatient and did not want to wait a week for the guy build it but did not want to spend $700 on a bike shop bike. The bike was about $250.00 + tax and seemed to be what I needed for some family riding. I immediately regret my decision and decided to bring the bike to Sports Systems to be upgraded. New handlebars, stem, brake adjustments, tire set up and gear set up, ect. I got a phone call saying my bike was complete and when I asked if its riding good, the bike technician said as good as I could get this bike riding? I picked it up and everyone seemed to care very little that I was going to pay $$$ for this work to be done. They were not very personable in the bike shop. (Different experience than when I dropped it off) They did not even go over what they did, just clipped off old bars and handed me an invoice. After dropping almost as much as the original purchase price for the upgrades, I wanted to test it out. I did take the bike out for about 9 miles last night and with some minor adjustments to the seat and shock, the bike did ok. I get that it is not the best quality bike and definitely learned my lesson. If I upgrade or buy a new bike, I will get something better quality but dont think they should treat the customers negatively because its not a bike from Sports Systems. I have not bought a bike in 10 years, I am not a enthusiast. I just needed a bike to ride with my 9 year old son and hated the factory bars this Walmart bike came with.. I will be buying a better quality bike but probably just not from here. I will update after a month or so, give an update on the bike.

I took my bike for gear shifting problems. I got the call around the time they said it would be done (~3 weeks nowadays). Went to pick the bike the next day. Didn’t get a chance to talk to the person whoever serviced the bike. Paid for the service (~$64) and took it out for test ride. First time I tried switching the front gear, the chain came off (one of the problems I told them to look at). Took it back, one of the service guys apologized and took it back in the shop. Brought the bike back in 10 mins or so. Tested again and this time worked fine. I will take the bike for a long ride tomorrow. I wish someone explained what was done and if there were any future suggestions.

(may 2021 update) had another great experience in here today, Sharon (who previously helped me when I bought my bike upon moving here in August) helped me get a bottle of (very necessary) sealant for my tires and the other staff were super friendly and helpful as always!(october 2020) I moved here in August and had to leave my bike back east. The folks in the bike department were patient with me while they customized my new bike and helped me get set up here. I also bought my new Oboz hiking boots here and will buy the running shoes I need as well. So thank you to the bicycle department and the person who helped me with the hiking boots.

Sales guy spent close to an hour with me, finding the right ski boots, adjusting the fit, and had me stand and walk around to see how the fit changed over time. We tried a half dozen boots and ultimately added 5 different inserts to get the boot just right. It was such a better experience than Ive ever had buying boots before. Fantastic.

I am especially picky when it comes to running shoes, and I think everyone should. I worked with the shoes staff (who are awesome) in getting me a new pair. Ive purchased shoes from here several times, but this last time was especially awesome. I found some nice road shoes that felt amazing but I hated the color. Talked with the workers and we went online to order the color that I like. The store has them within a week. Needless to say, Ive put a LOT of miles on these already.

Went there twice this weekend to get parts for a couple of old mountain bikes me and a friend were working on. The customer service was absolutely amazing, and very professional. Even with this COVID19 stuff going on, I feel like they were handling it very well. And with how busy they were at the time, the employees were still able to help us out and answer any questions we had. Definitely recommending this place! Probably will even buy my next specialized bike there in the future.

Sports systems has been one of the most helpful places that I have found as a new snowboarder. The staff is very helpful and has in depth expertise in their departments. One of the most helpful staff members that Ive had a very pleasant experience with is Blake from the rental department. He is always willing to help and any questions you have about snowboarding and skiing he can give you the answer to. He is one of the staff members that brings me coming back to sports systems.

I went looking for a new saddle for my road bike, and received excellent advice and service from team member, Will. He gave good recommendations, measured me for the best fit, and installed the saddle on my bike for me even. He went out of his way to clean the top of the seatpost too to insure a proper install. I appreciate this level of service very much. For local purchase of bike parts and accessories, I will be returning to Sport Systems for sure. Ask for Will with help with your bike!

Took my bike in for a ANNUAL PRO MTB SERVICE got it back and felt like nothing was done. The derailleur still did not shift right, brakes were still spongy and whole bike was squeaking, I am sure they did not check any of the bearings. Also just before I sent my bike there I had my friend go check out there bikes. he bought one and a mile in on first ride the peddle fell off and completely shredded the threads, there fix was to glue on a sleeve. They used to be have a good bike shop, but there quality has gone way down.Update too one star after took my bike to another shop and come to fine out bike was squeaking because my bearings were in need of service and derailleur hanger was bent causing my jumpy shifts. But not why down graded to one star also told my shock is in need of service. So not even sure did that. Or did a check of everything.

Sports Systems is great-- best ski shop in the southwest. Mike and Rob in the ski dept are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful! I went in for some replacement ski boot toe and heel pieces and they really took the time to get me what I needed. I highly recommend them!!

I would like to commend Amber, Likaya and Pat from the shoe department! Amber has always been so helpful and knowledgeable about the running shoes Ive purchased recently. She is an excellent resource not only about shoes but exercise and nutrition as well. Her friendly low pressure disposition is always welcome and keeps me returning if I am in the market for shoes or have any questions. Likaya and Pat recently went the extra mile to find an unusual size shoe despite being busy on no tax weekend. They too are very knowledgeable and friendly and Im told amazing athletes. Very helpful over the phone in fulfilling my order, my only disappointment was their shipping and customer service. I asked for a Saturday delivery which said they could do, but didnt happen. I received my package on Monday, I called them to inform them of the delivery. They instructed me to take it up with USPS, I informed them that they would have to make the contact since they imitated the shipping. They insisted in me making the contact and as stated the USPS informed me that I could not do anything since I had not initiated the shipping. I sent Sport Systems an email over a month ago and it has gone ignored.

I came in a little late one day, and was well taken care of. Ended up keeping the rented jacket and pants longer than expected. Turns out I work the exact hours that the store is open so I was unable to return them when I needed to.
