I have a 92 jeep yj. Darrin the sales rep is very knowledgeable and above else honest. He doesnt try to sell you stuff you dont need!!!! . He is accurate, patient, and listens to your needs. The mechanics are the best. They have installed 4.88 gears on both differentials. ARB lockers as well as upgraded axles and seals. A SYE kit, with tom woods drive shafts. Also new motor mounts. What a great and knowledgeable crew. I cant thank them enough. A very professional team..my jeep build is almost complete. Thanks to the team at DESERT RAT IN ALBUQUERQUE !!!!

Been a really poor experience, overall. Order some shock bushings for my truck and emailed asking if they came in a pair, for both shocks. Got a short email saying yes just like stated on the web site, they come in a pair for both shocks. Ok, made the order. USPS lost the shipment, not these guys fault.So I made another order, this time with very expensive overnight shipping. Got my parts only to find out that its for a single shock. Called them and stated, you told me the order was for both shocks. They acknowledge this fact and then did nothing. Asked if I wanted to reorder.Sorry, but cannot support this business anymore.You told me bad info then didnt care.

Let me start by saying best place to go if you want to do anything on your off road truck or SUV. They are the best in town in price and customer service. They are all friendly people. They work on my 2017 Toyota TRD Sport 4x4, installing 5.29 Nitro Re Gear, front and back lift springs. They did a wonderful job and driving my truck now feels so good is like night and day the way my truck ride now. I want to say thanks to Darren, Troy and the short guy sorry I can’t remember your name.

They forgot to tighten my differential drain plug after doing lockers. Lost half my fluid. Also never secured 4x4 electrical lines to the frame like they were supposed to be. Not expecting perfect but come on.

Fantastic customer service from knowledgeable and friendly staff.We own an automotive repair shop in Colorado and after re-gearing a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, found that we needed a SuperChip to reprogram the Jeep. Although we are a SuperChip dealer, we dont keep any in stock and it would have been two-three days before we could get one. After calling two dozen places between Grand Junction & Albuquerque, Desert Rat Off Road Centers came to our rescue! Daren helped us determine exactly what we needed, offered multiple alternatives and was willing to overnight the tuner to us. It was a pleasure working with Daren and we will definitely reach out to them in the future when our needs arise.

Arrogant. Inappropriately rude. Sent us on wild goose chase, knowing they DID NOT have the JEEP item for which we were searching. Wasted our time. Because of their dishonesty on the phone, we lost 2 hours of round trip travel time. If only they had admitted they could not accommodate our immediate need. We did not have 2-4 weeks to order an item in, that ultimately would not meet our need. This JEEP store had no customers when we got there. Assume they were desperate for a sale, but got nothing from us.

The crew here is great. I had a problem with my 16.5ti Warn Winch which I thought required warranty service. Dropped it off Friday after 4th of July. Had the winch back in my hands on Tuesday! Turned out the problem was a combination of a mistake of mine & my ignorance. They wouldnt let me pay for their time spent diagnosing & checking the winch. Ill be back.

Great store, knowledgeable staff and well stocked with common parts. They also give back to their community often. Shop is very honest and does not do unnecessary work which is great as a consumer.

Stranded in Abq with dead vehicleThey tried to help me fix over the phone first. When that didnt work, I had it towed to their shop, where they tried to fix, but couldnt. Got me to another repair shop and didnt charge me. Great business owner and employees.

What could have been a nightmare for me due to carelessness from one employee was quickly addressed and not even questioned by management. To top it off the work had been done over a month prior to the issue I had. I was expecting this to be a headache to get it corrected. Was I ever wrong!!!!! They not only fixed what was wrong but they went above and beyond including replacing expensive parts that I didnt even know were affected. I choose to be vague here because after the professionalism they showed me and how I was treated as a customer made me rest easy and it showed me the the most important thing in a customer/business relationship is trust and not the details of the issue I had. You guys proved that your customers can trust you and the work you do. That is exactly what I want when it comes to the saftey of my family and the pride I take in my truck that I work very hard for. In closing I personally want to thank you guys for everything that you did to fix the mistake. The professionalism, quality of work and attention to detail you showed me is unmatched in comparison to what the other shops have to offer. I have been takeing my 94 F-150 to desert rat for 2 years now, for anything that need work and have always left happy. The crew there is vary helpful, friendly and are professionals in there recommendations, unlike most garages that try to make a quick buck. If your off road viechle needs work I highly recommend Desert Rat.

Knowledgeable, friendly, clean.I went in to buy a small part and broke down in his parking lot. His shop schedule didnt have time to look at it, but he eventually made time. I had to go next door (Pep Boys) and buy a belt, which his men then installed.Theres another national chain in town whose name starts with 4. They are dishonest. This shop will treat you right. If I ever come back to New Mexico, this shop will get all of my business while Im there.

Derren, Troy and the Desert Rat Team are Amazing! I had an EVO coilover long arm kit, GenRight Bumper, a Warn Xeon Winch, and Rock Slide Engineering rock sliders installed on my 2018 Jeep JLU. All work was top notch with a level of detail unmatched anywhere else in Albuquerque. Derren’s customer service and communications throughout each install never left me guessing. I had a light bar installed perfectly works great but I come out of the shop and my clock and all interior light were out there should be no reason for this as they needed to add a fuze not screw with all of the fuzes

I have had and continue to have problems with Desert Rat, Albuquerque. Less than a year ago I had a 3 lift done to my 96 Toyota Tacoma at Desert Rat & worked with Derren Owen. Less than 6 months later, both rear leaf springs broke and I had them replace with new factory leaf springs (I didnt trust Desert Rat to replace them). Now the leaf springs have broken again and I took it back to Desert Rat, where they claim no responsibility - even though everything is still under warranty & under a year old. I then ordered new ALCAN custom leaf springs through Desert Rat over one month ago. Still no leaf springs, not one call from Desert Rat during this entire experience. I would not recommend them.P.s. I havent even taken my truck off-road in over a year, because of all the problems. All this happened during City driving!

Ive been an off-road enthusiast for over twenty years and have owned half a dozen off-road vehicles that I have built myself and with help of off-road specialty shops in Albuquerque NM and Las Vegas NV. My recent experience with Desert Rat in ABQ was the most impressive of all. The customer service skills of Derren Owen is second to no one, he was courteous, patient and possessed expert knowledge of all of the things I wanted to do with my CJ-7. The mechanic who worked on my Jeep not only installed my new lockers and gears but also fixed safety issues with the brakes and steering. They really went the extra mile making sure every little detail was correct and even fixed some of my amateur mechanic handy work. It has been over a year now with these upgrades installed and everything has worked well beyond my expectations. I cant thank Derren and the staff at Desert Rat enough for all their help. I highly recommend them to everyone and hope your experience is as great as mine has been.
