A great place for high quality lumber and special wood. Really liked the customer service and knowledge that the employees have. The wood here is much better than what you can find at the big box stores.

I read the reviews and decided to try the place myself to get my own perspective on it. The guy was short with me and answers with yes and no. They didn’t even try to welcome me into the store to see what options they have. At least I know what kind of people they are.

Really helpful- needed info on building a new deck. Robert took the time to walk me through the options. Delivery was right on time and driver Greg was great. Will definitely use these guys moving forward

The employees here seem seem to hate it when a customer walks in. Last time I was there, I walked out and will never return. There are plenty of places in ABQ to get lumber and not have to deal with rude and condescending employees. This place has nothing that other places dont have, and their costs are not any better.

Super helpful. I came at 5:15 just before closing time and needed 3 pieces of marine ply cut, and they did it perfectly and were extremely helpful. I also bought a couple pieces 10x8s and they helped me pick the nicest pieces. Great service and will definitely be back for all my lumber needs.

Excellent service. I ordered a load of lumber in the morning and it was delivered in the afternoon. The order was made over the phone since they were still under COVID protocols. The person (thanks Craig) who delivered the lumber was very helpful in unloading the lumber.

Now I undestand all the other reviews that state the horrible custumer service. The guy who helped me was very condesending and rude. They need to understand that not every one knows about lumber the way they do. I was asking a few specific and basic questions and the guy treated me like I was stupid.

Found what we needed and had it loaded by 2 guys without hesitation. Wasnt sure what exactly it was we were looking for but described it and they took us to see it and let us pick out the pieces we wanted. They did give us some other info on installing it that made the job so much easier than I had thought itd be.

As a contractor I expected a little customer service and some kind of Politeness.... never ever again will I consider Hunter lumber for anything ! Customer service is horrible, rude employees and the owner Ken told me to go stand in line at Lowe’s or Home Depot because I wanted to exchange 5 pieces of lumber that was unusable out of an order. I was told from now on if I order lumber I have to come in and hand pick the pieces myself because they don’t want to be driving all over town because of me. The owner asked me what I wanted after arguing with me in the yard over 5 sticks of junk lumber I told him take everything back and he snatched the invoice out of my hand and said he would get it picked up that afternoon and walked offTry to support local Business but never again these guys.

Ive never experienced so many sighs after I ask questions or when an employee needs to engage or assist a customer.I asked if they had any 8/4 poplar and off the bat they asked Whats the project for? .He said no, I asked if there is any in the lumber stock out back. He sighed and said he would look.What do you know we found some... the cashier didnt know how to calculate board feet and for 6 1/16 he charged me for 7 wide at the end of the transaction. Im a new furniture maker in town and unbeknownst to me this place has the worst customer service Ive ever experienced.They dont have the market cornered so treat people with respect. Youre lucky your e located in the desert other wise other yards would swamp you out with knowledge, friendliness and customer service.Byeeeee

I went in recently to inquire about some specialty lumber. The clerk just mumbled and shook his head; meanwhile, someone behind him was on the phone and was yelling into it, making it almost impossible to hear anything, let alone think. Ill go elsewhere from now on.

These guys have service like a good old-fashioned lumber yard. They have good quality wood stock and a wide variety. They cut the wood to the size you want and do free delivery in ABQ. Outstanding!

My husband and I have used Hunter Bower for more than 30 years. We have always been treated professionally and with respect. It was bad enough to be treated rudely by the person at the front desk, but also from someone who we assume was the owner or manager was too much. My husband and I will be more than happy to use True Value and Lowe’s in the future.

On the hunt for something mildy specific but with little knowledge of the exact wood to use so I called and the gentleman who answered was so rude and condescending right off the jump! I am flexible just need a certain size but he was extremely short and snappy, so much so that I didn’t even feel comfortable asking anymore questions. From other reviews looks like a trend- bad for biz was literally on my way to their store to make a purchase with the intention of making many more future purchases.

Worst service I have ever had, will not be returning. Guy up front asked what I was looking for, I knew that they had it and where it was (Ive been there for this product before) was told they dont have it, took the guy to where I knew it was and still was looked at like I was crazy and was told it wouldnt work. Hunter Bower gave me choice, quality and service. I went in bought 3 inch patio door casing not primed, quality lathe, & supplies. BH delivered it when I wanted it. If other stores had 3, it had fancy routing design & primed.

This has been my local business to go to for years. They have been attentive to helping you get the lumber you need and the important fasteners. This is the store you go to when you need your nails or screws, or nuts and bolts and washers by the pound. Its a place I go to check out the aisles for what cannot be found at Home Despot or the Lower Store. Nice thing is if you know what you need they may even have it ready so fast you wonder how you can order 8 sticks of 2x4 s and when you arrive and pay, the lumber yard worker already has it to load up at your vehicle. At the other places that chore with driving would have been a min. of 1 hour instead of 15 minutes. Its great that except for hours that have them close during the week at 5:30 p.m..

Im a general contractor for over 30 years. And I agree with all of you who say they are very condescending. I hate it if and when I need to call this company to order something. Actually, Im laughing inside at them for how they act towards you when your ordering something. Owner and son especially bad at this. Sometimes it will be a year or so before I have to call them...and behold here we go again. Not a very good customer experience. Wow!!! someone needs to go to therapy :) They really need to get to know Jesus!

Placed an order and they said theyd deliver on a friday. Didnt happen. Called the following week on Tuesday to reschedule and they said itd be delivered that day. Nothing. Called them again on that same Tuesday to request a change in delivery address and they said they could do it the next morning. No delivery. Went into the store and it turns out they delivered to the first address and I had to go pick it up there; found my order to be just left out in the open.

Called to get a general pricing for a basic wood beam. I have little to no knowledge of wood species but I was ready to purchase immediately with the right recommendation. The manager was incredibly rude and had absolutely no desire to help me make a decision on something I was guaranteed to purchase. Very unfortunate experience if I could give 0 stars I would. A person that angry should not work in customer service.

I got keys made there and they were quick, friendly, and all the keys worked perfectly. I also got a few hardware items for my house- good selection of quick home repair/ project needs.

I ordered a beam from Hunter Bower yesterday, and the beam itself is fine and was delivered on time. However, the young men who delivered it were incredibly vulgar in front of me and my young children. They used explicit language multiple times that is especially demeaning, even threatening, towards women. I called to share my experience with the manager, was greeted rudely, and after asking for a manager or owner three times the same man who answered claimed to be the manager. He gave me an insincere apology and simply stated that theyd handle the matter internally without giving any indication of what that would entail. I will not ever purchase from this company again and am strongly discouraging others from doing so.

Hunter Bower Lumber has great customer service, the knowledgeable service team helped me to figure out some challenging carpentry projects. Their products are also exceptional.

Positives - they deliver.Negatives: horrible (and I mean HORRIBLE) Customer Service - unhelpful to an extreme, prices are 20-30% higher on many items than lowes or Home Depot, Asked for straight lumber and 50% of what they sent was unusable because it was so bent and cracked.Bottom line, better of going somewhere else.

2x6x12 treated lumber that I purchased was priced at $14.28 a board, whereas at Lowes the same board is priced at $11.62 (prices as of Sep 2017). The Lowes lumber was far superior - the lumber from Hunter had lots of chipped off corners and looked worse. On the plus side, the customer service was solid in my experience, as opposed to other reviews here.

Ken bower the owner gave extraordinarily poor service.... as the owner of the company he should be ashamed... not a good idea to be condescending to your potential customers... will never buy from here ever

HB tends to have everything we need, very fast in town delivery. We order our ply and pine board from them, quality product every time and their staff is always friendly and professional.

I felt so insulted by the lack of customer service, I had to publish a review. I normally dont do this either.I went in to get a quote on materials for a project. The man spoke to me like I was a five year old, speaking slowly with a condensing tone. I am not knowledgeable about lumber or different types of wood, thats why I came to a lumber store. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Hunter Lumber charges $375 for a ton of Lignette pellet fuel. the tractor supply in nearby Edgewood charges $264. Case closed.
