Hooray for Books - and hooray for this bookstore! This bookstore has a wonderful collection of childrens books, as well as a robust YA and adults section. This bookstore is a gem in the Old Town area, with friendly staff and with plenty of room in the store for browsing. I was impressed by their diverse collection and the books/authors they chose to highlight (from under-represented communities). Please stop in for you, and your whole family! 5/5

I’ve visited Old Town for many years and have worked in Old Town for almost a year now. I just found this bookstore today during a walk. Love it! Cute atmosphere, great assortment of books and other neat items, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. I recommend everyone and anyone visit. I went in with the notion that I was just going to look around, but found a few books I couldn’t leave the store without and kept a few in mind for my next visit. Going back (soon)!

I found this book store yesterday,when i went in i did not know what to expect then i saw how clean and friendly they were very helpful and a great selection of books for all ages i found lots of good books got a good a mount from there today i be back agane very soon the staff very helpful.I like that they show case local writers i highly recommend this book shop i am shure you will like it i do.

Wound up here when we visited a friend who lives in the area - what a delightful shop! Full of great books, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff - cant be beat.

Nothing special here. Shop run by a bunch of scardy cat people who use little kids as an excuse to make you mask up. The sign outside says you should mask to protect children. Okay folks why don’t you read something. It’s just about impossible for small kids to get COVID and those that do are 99.8 likely to not be seriously ill at all. They won’t even let you in without a mask if your vaccinated.

A charming little bookstore filled with mostly childrens books. Colorful displays are filled with quality childrens literature and although its a small bookstore, the selection of books is impeccable. There is a section filled with adult books with thick-cushioned sofa-chairs available for lounging. The staff were friendly and a clean bathroom was available.

I love this bookstore. I usually attend their book club meetings and buy a majority of my books there. It seems child-centric at first glance, but has quite a lot to offer for adults.

Ellen was so super helpful. Its an amazing experience to discuss books and authors to fit your reading needs. I visited this store two out of the three days I spent in Alexandria, VA. This establishment has books, stickers, games and educational toys for all ages and interest. I plan to stop in on my return trip in the new year.

Selection was small. Best part was flicking through the books. One part I liked were the book reading sessions they hold; havent been to one but the idea is great.

Horray for Books is a gem. They dont have a cafe. They dont have background music. They dont have all the distractions normalized by big book shops. They have helpful staff. They have a couple comfy couches. They have a large selection of books for toddler to young-adult ages. They host author events, story times and more. Support this local bookshop and never let a Borders or B&N move into Old Town.

Friendly service, lots of safety protocols in place, and a great selection of books and toys. My kids like this place a lot and they continue to be a landmark for us in Old Town.

The people working here are wonderful and very nice! I recently just joined their YA book club and the other members in the book club are awesome and welcoming. They also hold many events and meetings with authors. Id recommend checking if out!

Always a pleasure

Its easy to want to like independent shops, particularly bookstores, but hard in practice to patron them with the options online. Weve made a huge effort to bring our kids to Hooray for Books because its just that special kind of place that you want your kids to grow up knowing. Theyll have guest authors come in which the kids love, and the staff have always been extremely helpful.

The story time for little ones is nice. I wish the seating arrangement was better suited for bigger little ones with either small chairs or floor seating. That way the reader wont have to walk around to each child to ensure that they see the pictures in the book. Then there can be less chairs which would be used for parents with wee little ones. This way would also make more use of the time spent there.Book selection seems good!

Truly kid-friendly. They let you browse forever and in addition to a nice little play/reading nook, they are laid back about the little ones running around. Ive found their story times to be a little less engaging than what you typically see at the libraries, but still worth a trip since the kids will love exploring the store.

Fantastic used bookstore. You can sell unwanted books for store credit or cash. There is a massive variety of genres and titles to browse, and the books are in good condition. Reasonable prices, this little shop has something for everyone. Even a dedicated kids section in the back.

Cute lil kids bookstore. We were just wondering King street & came in. They were having am author signing. We did not get anything but it seemed well stocked & fun for kids

You guys should definitely check this place out. I most especially love the fact that these guys are quick and reliable when it comes to their customer service. I always spend around ten minutes in the store whenever I come here. Best place ever.

Great little gem for parents and kids. Check them out if you are in town - there are frequent story times and special events here and they have a great selection of childrens books and even some small toys. Great one stop shop for birthday presents for younger kids.

Love this book store. Very friendly staff and a nice assortment for both kids and adults. We didnt leave the store with a book (although we found many wed like.) We ended up buying a board game! Great place to find all sorts of items.

I cant say enough good things about Horrary for Books. Their staff are always super helpful and never fail in helping me select the best books possible for my family and friends. Indie bookstores are always second to none, but Hooray for Books will always top my list!

Cute little book store; worth stopping in to take a look. Youre not going to get a deal though, expect to pay full printed price on the books and souvenir type prices on toys, etc. They do gift wrap for free though, so thats a nice touch.

Quaint bookstore that also sells adult books, although it promotes many children books. They have great guests come, like Piggie & Elephant etc. If you plan for a childrens event during the week, go slightly early because local day cares bring their kids, and they take up a lot of room.

Awesome place!!! Please come here. They have a huge selection of childrens books, but they also have a very well thought out collection of books for adults. Yet the best part about this book store is the book club. It is open to anyone with a passion for reading and the book choices have been excellent. The woman who leads the book club puts a lot of thought and time into it. The quality of the books we read and conversation we have reflects that.

Super friendly and helpful staff, cozy atmosphere with comfy chairs for sitting and reading. I bought several books for my kids reading club and felt good about supporting a local business.

I went in looking for a specific book. They did not have it in store but did have in warehouse. They said they could have it in 3 days. The next day I got a call and it was already there. Super sweet ladies there.

Really love this place, Author signings are well organized and super fun! Lots of different genres and new books to choose from, also lots of signed copies of new books! Not just a kids book store, do not let the outside fool you.

Walked in during story time and the kids were having a blast! The story teller was really animated and really involved the kids. You could tell he had some little diehard fans. The selection of kids books is really great, everything from classics to local interests. They also have a small adult section in the front with a could of tables focusing on new realeases.
