One of my fave book shops. There is always a great, well curated, choice of new and classical books. Be prepared for the unusual too!

A really lovely place to shop in person and online. I wish the childrens section was a bit bigger, but its a small shop so I get it. I really appreciate the range of selections they bring in, especially in non-fiction. When I want something and dont know what that is, I know I can find something here. Plus if they dont have it theyll order it. Yes most bookstores will do that, but not always with a smile and for all the books you want.

This is a fantastic little book store. Lots of the latest books and unique books. They also have book clubs and both a membership program and a rewards program. If you love reading and also want helpful suggestions from other readers in a fun environment definitely stop in.

The new location is so cool! There is more space, which has to mean more books, and that can only be for the best. In the past and during COVID, the shop was awesome to order from online. I highly recommend this local bookstore!

This little book shop was adorable! The staff were helpful, friendly, and funny. The store is well organized and clean. They have a lot of great titles, and a lot of great bookish items. I will visit this place every time I am in town 🙂

This is a lovely small independent bookstore. While it does not have the selection a large national chain will have it does have a wide selection and the staff is truly helpful and knowledgeable. It is a wonderful addition to the shops of Old Town Alexandria.

Love independent bookstores and this one doesnt disappoint!! The ambiance is perfect and one of the best book selections Ive seen! Which is incredibly impressive considering the condensed space. Id been searching for a paperback copy of Spring by Ali Smith for the last few months and of course they had it!! Also had the recent Lily King release Id been hoping to read. Highly highly recommend this shop, its a must stop if visiting Alexandria!!

I love this store, one of my favorite ones in all of Old Town! It is such a cute, inviting space that will make you want to stay there for hours. They have a great selection and if they dont have it, you can just place a special order. Their online ordering and pick ups work great - they were able to adapt quite quickly to the new norm despite being a relatively new business. They have my full support - shop local!

My wife and I had a really nice visit to the city yesterday for Valentine’s Day. She decided to visit this store while I waited outside since I wasn’t shopping and the store is limiting customers given the pandemic. After about 15 minutes, several people had left and I decided to step in out of the cold and see how she’s doing. As soon as I walked in, with my mask on and with only three other people in the store, the cashier, without greeting me otherwise, let me know that they had a private showing in 15 minutes. As I was telling her that I was just checking in on my wife, I touched my mask causing her to interrupt me and tell me to keep my mask on. I had no intention of taking my mask off, evidenced by the fact that I cared enough about my own health to walk in with it on. That was enough interaction with her to cause me to just wait outside and decide never to shop there again. I love small businesses but not at the expense of basic care and respect.

Old Town Books is everything you could ever want in an indie bookstore; welcoming, well-stocked, and deeply invested in the community here in Alexandria. Their online ordering system is intuitive and easy to use - if they don’t carry it, they’ll find it for you. They have a wonderful selection of newly published books and classics, and their staff recommendations are always changing and always spot on. Five stars, cannot ask for more.

One of the nicest selections of books for all ages. Its not super big but I go there whenever I can because I like their taste in books and recommendations. Theyre moving soon, hopefully to a bigger place.

Old Town Books has created a refuge for bibliophiles in Old Town. Everything about this shop--from the carefully curated selection to the uniquely focused book clubs to the friendly booksellers who remember you each time you come back--is charming. I am so very grateful to have such a wonderful indie bookstore to frequent and cannot wait to see how the store grows and evolves in its new home.

I live in Fairfax now, after living in Alexandria two years. Last night was the first time Id ever been to this bookstore. Id seen it a million times and had been waiting for the right moment to go into what looked like a cozy, warm experience waiting for me. Me and three friends, two visiting from out of town, were excited to find no line to get in.Right when we started browsing, one of my friends discussed moving up our dinner reservation because if we kept the original reservation, we would have too much time to kill. A woman named Abby was the only employee in the store and heard our conversation.We had literally just walked in, I was still looking at the first display inside the door. We had been in there no more than two minutes, but she promptly told us in a stern tone that if we were only in there to kill time, shed prefer we leave so other customers who were actually intending to buy something could come in (because the place is so small and because of COVID only four customers are allowed inside at a time).None of us reacted and we kept right on browsing, but it was the rudest thing that has happened to me in a long time. Me and my friends are clearly young and brown; I have a hard time imagining she would have spoken to us that way if we were older white people. Three of the four of us made multiple purchases and that is the last time I will ever give them my business.

I absolutely love OldTownBooks! It’s just what Old Town needs and it’s perfectly situated next to a Starbucks so you can grab your coffee then browse. They have a variety of books in their quaint store and I appreciate the virtual community that they’ve formed on social media. I enjoyed my time browsing in the store and appreciate their safe precautions that they have put in place during the pandemic. Above all else, I appreciate how thoughtful they are. I bought two books from them for my mom and sister. The employees wrote a little card to my family members saying “Enjoy your book by Nashé” and I didn’t ask them to do that. I’d highly recommend OldTownBooks to anyone. The staff is thoughtful, helpful, and kind. Also, support your local businesses.

If you’re looking for the 4th autobiography by Barack Obama. They sell it here and probably have every copy ever published. This book store is esoteric and just for political propaganda and catchy titles. I was expecting to find an old book store filled with classics and hard to find books not seen at a Barnes and Nobles.

This shop is so cute, and though it looks small they have a wide variety of interesting books (and book related paraphernalia 😂). The staff is really helpful and kind. They can start “wish lists,” order something not in stock, and do contactless pickup. It’s the kind of place that makes old town even more charming.

Absolutely terrible, gives off the vibe of being a nice little store with some good old books but it was just this political propaganda palace. It was super upsetting, I really don’t need 30 copies of Obama’s autobiography.

I’ve been a die hard fan of Old Town Books since they opened. Ally, the owner, has curated a wonderful selection of books and includes unique bookish accessories. The staff are top notch and the shop dog, Scout, will lift anyone’s spirits.They also have great book events- author readings, writing classes, and book clubs create a wonderful book community.Old Town Books is a MUST visit if you are visiting Old Town Alexandria.

This is my favorite bookshop! Its so well curated and intimate. You can tell how personal every touch is. They also host lots of awesome literary events like workshops, talkbacks, meet and greets, etc. Support independent bookshops (and other independent businesses)!

I went looking for an odd book and I met Liesel, one of the staff members. She was immensely helpful and knowledgable about the books in the store, and I ended up purchasing her favorite book... based solely on the impression she left regarding the art of reading.
