First I started my day with breakfast here. The place is very busy all the time but not overly crowded. The wait staff is very busy and I might say a little disorganized. The manager ended up getting me coffee because the waitress never came back for that and my toasts arrived a good 15 minutes before the rest of my breakfast but that wasnt a big deal. Everything was absolutely delicious. I cannot say a bad thing about it, my home fries and omelette were delicious and the scrapple was absolutely incredible.I returned for lunch with my sister and again the service was a little slow and it was a little while before we could order but again, not a terrible amount of time. Incredible home made crab cake and coleslaw, potato salad.I love this place, a quintessential diner with the friendliest staff. I will return when I visit Alexandria.
This was my first time and will definitely be back. Luckily, wed just missed the breakfast rush, so it was calm and quiet when we arrived. The decor is love. Its was a little French- inspired Cafe with lots of live plants. The food was delicious. I had the garbage omelet and some corned beef hash. Both were really good. Only miss was the biscuit, but Ill chalk that up to it being the end of a long day.Five stars!!!
If youre looking for that perfect hole in the wall for breakfast, then this is the place for you. It was so delicious. The waitress was very kind. Lunch does not start until 11, and I had asked about french fries because not a fan of home fries. She came out and told me shed put them in for me. 10/10 If Im back in the area Id go again.
Relaxing Sunday morning atmosphere. Small menu, great for those who are indecisive. Great portions and prices. Very popular place on the weekends.
Good location and service is good but the chef or chefs don’t know how to make eggs - except scrambled. For example -a few months ago I stopped by with a friend for breakfast - I like my eggs over-medium and my friend ordered his sunny side up - neither of us got anything close to what they should be- so we ordered scrambled instead - and at least they got that right! but anyone on this planet knows how to make scrambled eggs. .I just feel a breakfast place should at least be able to serve basic requests and yes- I do understand there is a shortage of workers and most restaurants are grabbing anyone off the street that they can to cook for them, but shouldn’t these newly hired folks have to have some skill!! …??? ….or maybe I’m just asking or expecting too much.
Was recommended by Wyndham concierge. So we decided to go and this was not a mistake. The eggs were perfect the atmosphere inside was much nicer than what the outside looked. The food was excellent
Great neighborhood place for a very good breakfast..hefty servings at a reasonable price!!!The earlier you arrive more crowded it is. Tent in back for outdoor dining. Good& friendly staff.
Went out to breakfast five times on our recent trip to the Carolinas and Virginia. Table Talk was the best by far. Plentiful portions and excellent taste. Singular service and delightfully decorated. Not sure how they are mixing and making their what are normally regular pancakes but they are anything but normal. Forget the syrup. One can enjoy their pancakes plain! The owner (fairly certain) was ‘table talking’ with regulars at a table nearby and explaining some of the tricks and secrets to good cooking. This should be part of the Smithsonian treasures.
The breakfast sandwich I got was okay. The restaurant is very quaint and the other food items my friends got looked better. The service was amazing! Never had to ask for a coffee refill, the server was on top of it :)
This diner was busy on a Sunday morning. I was a party of one and was able to sit at the counter. My order was taken right away. Everything was 😋 delicious. My server was extremely nice. Not a large menu but they have all of your breakfast favorites.
This place is lovely. Step inside and you are in a pristine cafe on the Mediterranean coastline. The prices are amazing and the variety of food is DELICIOUS! Its super-fresh and prepared to a T. The staff is sweet as sugar. The owners and managers are personable; serving next to team members and engaging with guests really making for an upscale-next door experience. One of the best diners in the DMV; beautiful food, service, and place.
Good food forvreadonable prices, plus there is free parking. The parking is well worth in itself. The staff are always happy and friendly. Go here from time to time with coworkers and they love it too.
What a gem! This quaint little spot is full of character and delicious breakfast staples. We were immediately greeted by a friendly and charming gentleman packing our order at the bar. He made sure we had everything we needed to complement our entrees.Everything was cooked to perfection. My family had the omelettes, corned beef hash, chocolate chip pancakes, grits, and turkey sausage. The pancakes are light, fluffy, and flavorful. We’ve found our new #1 spot for breakfast.
Always good fulfilling meal. Tastes good and reasonably priced. Will always go back for a great meal.
The food was great and in large portions. We visited here two days in a row for breakfast. Both days we were seated outside in the overflow area. Day 1 we waited 30 minutes before we were even greeted by our waiter (not ideal but the food was worth the wait). Day #2, overflow section again but this time after waiting 45 minutes to be greeted by our waiter we decided to ask for a manager. After waiting for a manager for 15 minutes we decided to go inside to find ANYONE that could help. We were then introduced to the manager who actually turned out to be our waiter as well. (Same waitress from day#1 Natalie). She now has an attitude with us because of our constant inquiries. After the smoke cleared, our food showed up nearly 2 hours after arriving at the restaurant. (UNACCEPTABLE - 2DAYS IN A ROW) 👎🏽👎🏽
Cute place with good food. The tent in the back was quiet and a great place for our group - we had it to ourselves mid morning on a weekday.
Food is great, lets start with that. Be prepared to wait at your table a long time for service though. Parking is non- existing, they have about 20 spots for cars. Service is lacking, I believe due to staffing constraints. Great jammed around the family dinner at grammars house vibe.
Watched a mouse casually scurry across the floor.
A classic place to have a good meal with good people
The food was just okay. There was nothing really special in terms of flavor. I had ordered the veggie egg white omelette with two pancakes. I had to sprinkle some salt and pepper over the omelette for it to have some flavor.Their silverware needed polishing. They looked very dull/dirty. So, I asked for plastic ones instead. Even the plates looked old and had scratches on them.I noticed an insect on the cup of water the waitress brought me. I also noticed another just randomly flying around the diner. The waitress was nice and attentive- I guess thats the main positive out of the whole experience.I think at this point, its safe to say I wont be returning or recommending.
Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. While diners are not know for having the healthiest choicest, for those on a strict diet, the fruit and vegetable choices were very slim but I enjoyed my side salad and cantaloupe!
Great old fashion Diner with excellent food and very staff. Will be going back..
This was an amazing place to have a wonderful meal with my family. The hostess was friendly, the waitress efficient and the checkout person was welcoming. The food was delicious and the portions were more than enough. We left food on our plates. Will definitely visit on my next trip to the DMV area.
March 31, 2021 - Still sooo good! I’m kind of a creature of habit so I got the scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and breakfast potatoes with a side of blueberry pancakes to take home. Kids ordered the same as usual too.The potatoes were different this time; kind of came in a sauce but they were good. The bacon always comes out crispy the first time, never a disappoint. The eggs are always soft and fluffy and the blueberry pancakes are to DIE FOR!!! Great prices too! Always worth the drive!Feb 2021 - YUMMMM!!!I’ve been back at least two or three more times.1st visit (end of 2019) - Loved it! Great service, amazing manager (prev owner/fam), and the food was awesome! I’m Irish and the potatoes were on point!!! My son loved the pancakes and my daughter said the hash was great.
I love this spot with great breakfast! I ate every breakfast here while I was in town. I love that the potatoes are cooked and not heated, the grits are excellent consistency. It was a home cooked feel for me, and I will always come back for that reason. Oh, and the brownie.....you will hurt yourself eating it. If there any left, good luck catching one!
Great! Great! Food. Excellent service. Gloria was fantastic. Recommend this place its awesome. You gotta go
Found this gem! Customer service and hospitality was amazing… very homey feel. Portion sizes are large! And I almost forgot the food was so delicious!!
Great diner, service is quick and prompt. The food is well priced and arrives in a timely fashion.I would say diner fair is appropriate for the food, the helpings are generous, easy to eat but not astounding when it comes to flavor. For a good hearty meal in the area, I would recommend going here.
Not sure what people saw in this place. Food came out cold with loads of grease puddles on the plates. When telling the waiter the food was cold he argued and stated it just came off the grill then touched the food with his fingers and said it warm enough to eat. Ummmmmm during COVID who is telling me eat after they touched my food. Maybe it was are waiter
Bacon Cheeseburger was really good. Its very nice inside and wouldnt mind going back for some breakfast.
Large portions the food was delicious the staff was quick and friendly very reasonable priced. A must visit for breakfast
Went here for the first time today. I got more flavor out of plain boiled chicken than I did from my food. Very disappointed. Compared to places like Milk and Honey, and First Watch, and Blackwall Hitch, the food falls very short.
An absolute wonderful place. Our food was wonderful and the atmosphere warm and friendly! Highly recommend!
I had just left the dentist after a very painful root canal & was in tears. I was in town for work & needed to eat something when I was able to. The staff were more than helpful; giving me tissues & recommendations for soft foods. The breakfast was great & I return every month when in town. You won’t be disappointed!!!
The Table Talk Restaurant is very good! Its a small restaurant in Alexandria that serves large portions at a reasonable price. The staff was attentive; my coffee cup never dropped below a half cup before being topped off. I would definitely eat here again.
Delightful! We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, mimosas, and an abundance of delicious food. We will make it a point to stop in next time we’re in town.
Nice atmosphere, delicious food and tge scrapple was cooked correctly.
Food was good service was a little slow. Wait staff was nice and courteous.Large outside eating area going to put a few more tables outside. Inside was crowded.Chocolate chip pancakes are huge and omelette was well done.
Good food and drink. Love the staff.
French toast was decent but the eggs, bacon and home fries were BLAND. There was 0 seasoning on it and it was cold.
For some reason Old Town Alexandria has very few traditional diners. Talk Talk is the exception and operates as a diner with standard breakfast fare including eggs, grits and toast. The staff are very friendly and the service is efficient. One observation I have had is that there are a lot of regulars which may be a testament that this the real thing. Breakfast there is so reasonable when compared to other restaurants in the area so that is also a big plus. Table Talk can become very busy during the breakfast rush. In my view it serves as the unofficial diner of Old Town.
Great old school neighborhood restaurant. Food was fresh and hearty.
Food is ALWAYS good. They close at 4 but they were so gracious to allow me and two of my friends come in at 350. and served us a nice brunch!! def will be back.
This place is a gem! It has a very quaint, homey feel. The servers are very friendly and make you feel at home. The food, of course is also fantastic! Some of the best biscuits and gravy Ive ever had! Go to this place for brunch; you wont be disappointed.
The food is excellent, the staff is very good, the parking situation, however, is terrible. If there is any way to expand the parking lot, I strongly encourage it because its more than irritating to get there, enjoy your meal, then go outside prepared to leave just to see someone invented a parking space directly in front of your car, blocking you from leaving. I will return, though.
Service was polite &quick. Environment was clean & friendly. 5 stars
Food was amazing - especially the breakfast! Very reasonable pricing as well. I was visiting friends in the area, and Im so glad they brought me here. The staff treated us like family.
Delicious omelettes and a great cozy southern charm feel.
I love this mom and pop resturants. Been going for about 25 plus years.
We ate there for lunch and Gloria was our server. Gloria was amazing and the food was amazing!
Table Talk is one of the BEST breakfast places I have ever ate it! Their food is so fresh & delicious! I am sooo impressed! Will become a regular!! 🖤🖤
Comfortable spot in Alexandria to do just as the name states. Has a down south feel and the gravy is on point.
If I could give 0 stars I would. If you are not a regular they dont care about you. Horrible service. Burnt pancakes... WHO DOES THAT?! The owner will yet at you on the phone and the waiters will seat and serve you last if they dont know you.
The perfect breakfast/diner experience! The diner is very busy on Saturday mornings. Parking can become a cage match fight for parking supremacy. Even though it was busy we were able to find seats at the bar rather quickly. The ambiance was very much like a family owned restaurant, very homey. I loved our waitress with her thick Eastern European accent. Her words caressed my tensions into nothingness. The food though... OMG! The potatoes had a depth a flavor that I drowned in. My eggs will always be sunny side up and paired well with that perfectly cooked ham. The pancakes were large, I wanted to nap in between them they were so good. The pancakes tasted like they were made from scratch. The scrapple was crispy and delicious. The strawberries might have been picked off the garden in the back they were so fresh. They also showed mental genius in carrying Cholula hot sauce, my favorite. The price was on the low end, all you see in the photos of this review came out to like $30. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast!
Great local mom and pop type diner. We had a fantastic breakfast. The eggs and French toast were delicious. We dined in which was unusual for us coming from out of town. But the staff were very contentious about social distancing and were very friendly and nice. Reasonably priced and best of all delicious. Try it out!
Cozy restaurant with great food and customer service. Home fries are delicious!
Small dive restaurant with AMAZING food. 10/10 would go again.
So glad we found this great breakfast spot. Very reasonably priced and great food. I’ll remember this spot.
Me and husband went to this restaurant for breakfast and we were not disappointed. The food was good and the service was outstanding. The restaurant stayed busy, which was an indication of how good the food and service was. This is our new breakfast spot.
We had Gloria who was amazing! Very helpful—even brought samples to try so we could decide between sausage and biscuits (so great!) and chipped beef. It’s been a long time since we’ve been, but we will be back!
What a wonderful diner! Gloria is terrific! The food is amazing!Thank you for everything you are doing during these difficult times. We appreciate the efforts your team is taking to make customers feel safe and at the same time, feel at home.
Great little diner with fast service and very nice staff. The garbage omelette was very tasty.
We found this quaint restaurant on Google maps. It was located 5 minutes from our hotel. We were shocked with how low the prices were, considering it is located in downtown Alexandria. The coffee was excellent and my wife enjoyed the omelet with spinach and swiss cheese. Breakfast was served within three minutes. For dinner we had the cajun shrimp fettuccine which was recommended by our server and the fish and chips. The cajun shrimp and fish was delicious. They even have a bar. Friday nights they offer happy hour, with half priced drinks. The restaurant is small, cozy and very clean. The servers are all very friendly A real gem for the area.
My first time trying this place. Average at best. Im guessing today was not a great day for them. Low expectations for this kind of restaurant in general. Nothing about this meal made me want to try it again.
Very cool old fashioned diner. Came for brunch and really enjoyed the omelettes. service was fast and friendly. and even though the lot looked full, we were able to get seated quickly. Will go back for sure.....They also recently fixed the place up quite nicely.
Everyone friendly . Fast service..quality food
Just simple like corner store breakfast place, if there is such a thing. family owned i think simple food like breakfast and lunch. Not top notch, i say this because I felt over dressed. The food was ok. I ordered gravy and biscuits. Not my typical kind of restaurant. If u like simple good for you.
Delicious food and great service!
I did not enjoy my experience at all! Service was slow, even though our server Gloria was very friendly. Was almost late for an appointment waiting for the check. I ordered an omlette with onions, green peppers and turkey sausage with home fries and toast. My omelette didnt look like a well-folded omelette. It was instead a version of scramble eggs with the ingredients inserted. The veggies didnt taste sautéed because my onions were pretty raw tasting and not cooked through and the peppers too crunchy. The whole omelets lacked flavor and was so bland. The home fries were not bad, but not yummy either. The best part was the toast, go figure. I had to put a ton of salt, ketchup, and seasoning on the rest of the food to make it palatable. Oh, and the hot chocolate I ordered tasted worse than when my 3 yr old tried to make hot cocoa for me.
Great restaurant with large portions.
A friend and I stumbled across this place when looking for breakfast one morning. Great atmosphere, service, and food. The corn beef hash and French toast are delicious. Maria is an excellent server !
Table Talk service was good and the steak with my steak and eggs was a bit blah and tough. A little sea salt goes a long way for an average steak. Will definitely check it out again as the menu looks plentiful
Have eaten breakfast at Table Talk numerous times when visiting Alexandria. We have never been disappointed. Great food and a good value.
