I love this place. Its a coffee shop like you always thought, or wanted one, to be. GOOD Fresh coffee all the time. A limited but tasty sweet to go with. Best of all, a tolerance and welcoming attitude toward the underage crowd that frequent there. Wish there were more. Kudos.
New owner as of 3 weeks prior to the review! Very friendly and personable and made the place so clean! If you haven’t been here in a while, stop in and try it out. He’s really changed it for the better and kept the original visual appeal of the shop!
New management has made this a much more welcoming place. We can still sit and linger over a Cappuccino or one of the incredible baked treats, and the clientele has morphed into a much more eclectic version of the neighborhood. I shall continue to visit, repeatedly.
Cool little coffee shop. A good choice among all the others in town. I do recommend! Nice service and good coffee. If youre looking for something ridiculously fancy, go to Starbucks. Everyone else: stop here!
Not particularly my type of joint. It does have plenty of character and art all around but it just didnt appeal to me. The most important thing is that the coffee is good here. Definitely would consider a to go cup should I be in the area again.
This is long overdue. One thing I love more then coffee is a veteran owned business. I went to this place while I was back home visiting over the holidays from Texas and this lady was absolutely awesome. Coffee was excellent, cheaper, stronger, and better then Starbucks. Support local businesses. Next time Im back there I will be sure to stop in again. Thank You
NEW OWNERSHIP!!!Great coffee, great service, NO MINIMUM FOR CREDIT CARDS, friendly staff. QUIET atmosphere for reading, doing work, or having an intimate conversation with a friend.
This place is absolutely one of my favorites.
The place was quaint and the coffee was good,But I have to say I just witnessed some of the best rock and roll Ive ever seen here in Allentown... I cant believe it!! The band was called THE LINE OF FIRE and I hear they are playing again there soon. Their singer Chris is something special this band is something special and Hava Java is something special. Thanks for bringing such talent to the area. We will definitely be back for coffee and THE LINE OF FIRE!!
The service was very helpful and observant. The bill was well within reason for the quality. This place has many good reviews for a reason.
Greatest coffee Ive ever had! Freshly made with quality products that are all fair-trade and organic. The owner (Danielle) is the sweetest person you will ever meet and will customize any drink to your liking. Prices are fair given the quality of the ingredients used. AWESOME ambiance- great for studying, hanging out, or jamming at an open mic session. Tell your friends !
Some of the best coffee in town, and a nice atmosphere to sit and enjoy it. Plus, last time I was there, the owner told me I could vape inside, instead of going outside to do it, so I now have another reason to go there and hang out!Additionally, they do an open mic night there on Saturdays from 6 to 9 pm, which mostly includes local people from the recovery community playing music and singing. And many of them are pretty good!
The best! Beverage choices and quality is seldom better elsewhere. Great staff. A place to rest a minute and enjoy simple pleasures.
I moved here a year ago from Arizona. My favorite thing is to go to small coffee shops and enjoy a great cup of coffee. I was very spoiled in Arizona. 😂 when I arrived here Last year (June 2018) the first first thing I did was look for coffee shops. To my dismay this was the only coffee shop. I went in... it was dark, dirty, not friendly, and the coffee was horrible. I didn’t go back. My husband happen to be bey and got an amazing coffee few days ago and told me I should go back.I was there Sunday and the place is CLEAN, bright, airy, and the barista and I struck up a conversation and the place is under new management!!! It’s night and day! The coffee was phenomenal and I’m so glad to have a great coffee shop close by like I did in my home town. 🙌🏼
I love that it is there! Adds character to the neighborhood. The coffee and coffee drinks are pretty good. The treats are very good. The chairs are not comfortable. The tables rock. The place isnt especially clean. But it is authentic.
A coffee shop with character and great service conviently located in the heart of Allentowns Theatre District.
This location readily conveys a friendly and peaceful atmosphere. I come here to find a sense of calm, because being in this establishment is like a refuge from the debilitating obscurity of the day to day. The owner is comforting, charismatic and amiable. Hava Java is without a doubt the best coffee shop within the city limits and most likely the best in the valley.
Overall experience was pretty good. its a nice little coffee shop with lots of color inside. its cozy and a calm place to sit and chat. not overpriced and fairly quick service. a nice experience for me.
Hava Java is like a second home to me. Knowing theres a place to go, get coffee and hangout with some friends at almost any time is a great feeling. Danniella, the owner, is an amazing person. One time I went to do my math homework and my computer died. She was kind enough to let me use hers and what I needed to done. Hava Java is always full of good people and good vibes. Id recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Great coffee and nice spot to hold a meeting or just enjoy conversation with a family or friend
I literally have been here for five minutes and my doggy and I have been welcomed and loved since. The food and coffee are amazing and they brew their own organic coffee which I thought it was awesome!. Its a really cool and chill place if you want come by and get some work done.
This place is wonderful. The owner is so nice, she gave us extra baklava for no charge. Coffee and lattes are perfect. Wouldnt go anywhere else in Allentown for coffee. If you like coffee and you are in Allentown, you cant miss this place.
Comfortably welcoming coffee place with an open mic night and pretty good talent on saturday nights. Coffee is fairly priced and although cakes and snacks are a little pricey you understand why after biting into it. Everything is homemade and filling
Pleased to see vegan food options prominently advertised. Nice atmosphere and local music vibe. Id visit again if there was no up-charge for non-dairy coffee options.
Delicious coffee. Awesome atmosphere to talk and visit
Found myself in the West End with time to kill, so I tried this place out. Very cute, I love the atmosphere! Coffee is good. Make sure to bring some cash!
Favorite coffee shop in the Lehigh valley. Great new ownership too!
I read all of these great reviews and had high expectations. When I arrived, the cafe disappointed me; I asked for an iced latte, but they ran out of ice. How can a coffee shop not have ice? That didnt bother me, it mostly shocked me. I ordered a hot caramel latte and wasted $5 as it lacked flavor.
Hands down the best gourmet coffee that Ive ever had. Warm, inviting atmosphere which is always complimented by the smiles of everyone who works there! Whether youre popping in for a quick cup or plan on sitting for a while, Hava Java is the place.
By far the best little coffee shop in the neighborhood delicious coffee hot and fresh and the apple fritters are delicious
Awesome experience. The owners are more than hospitable. Great food and atmosphere. I will definitely be going back.
Nice, earthy place. Mugs hanging from the ceiling, artsy tables, chalk board menus, and a very nice Colombian barista whos lovely to chat with. Also cant beat the retro theater across the street! Not much of a coffee guy, but the frothy hot coco did it for me!
Took a chance coming to Hava Java since the reviews were decent. They have an outdoor seating area which called my attention. However, when we walked in, the counter attendant (perhaps the owner) was extremely rude and told us to not slam the door. It’s dark and dingy and just looks very unkept. The coffee was decent but 12$ for two small cappuccino seemed a bit much to me. Definitely a one time experience for me.
Awesome coffee, awesome atmosphere, and Daniella is the best. Outspoken, a particular refreshing sense of humor and personality and she does so much most dont know about from helping the youth earn their GED to feeding homeless veterans by the bridge. Its far more than just the best coffee around!
Original gangsta...Still holdin down the fort...So glad to see Theyre still open and doing well...Keep CalmAndDrink coffee.
Its not even open
Great little eclectic coffee shop. Friendly staff. Good coffee. Three small outdoor tables.
I love the artsy, cozy environment. Great coffee and a friendly employee made the visit worth it. Wifi works well. I recommend this place if youre looking for a local place to hang for an hour.
Quiet, a nice place to have a cup of good joe
I had an incredible coffee. It made just for me based on my tastes.
Great open mic night. Delicious coffee and relaxed vibe made for an excellent setting for rendezvous with an old friend.
Great Coffee Shop. Get the Mexican Hot Chocolate. The owner is a treat. Enjoy this gem.
I really wanted to love this cafe, so when I went in, I was impressed with the atmosphere and art. But the prices are astronomical. I was charged more for a small coffee than you would be at a fancier cafe that does their coffee overpour, and this is just regular drip coffee. The pastries I had were good but also very overpriced. For some reason, both times I went in, the owner was smoking cigarettes right in the cafe. The first time it happened I believe they were hiding in the back bathroom smoking so I thought they were outside and it was just carrying in, but the second time it was a very strong smell and I turned around and noticed they were smoking a few tables away.
Here every week. Great coffee and staff
Ive travelled from florida to pennsylvania and throughout this journey, ive explores many coffee shops. i decided to drop by the hava java cafe and was blown away. the owner was the sweetest lady ive ever met and i was hesitant because of the reviews, however it turned out to be a good experience. The coffee was great and well worth the visit.
The new owner, Dan, is a super cool guy. And the barristas, Melissa and Al rock!
Great service and conversation with the owner! And the coffee was awesome
Nice location to meet with family. I will probably become a regular.
Absolutely love this place and the owner. Such sweet, loving people. With the most amazing coffee!! Peaceful atmosphere
Overall experience was quite rough. I ordered a shot of espresso and it was bad, thin and bitter. Probably an okay base for a latte but not on its own. My girlfriend is gluten and dairy free and wanted a chai with almond milk and a shot of espresso. They didnt have any almond milk left and the owner wanted to use organic milk instead claiming it shouldnt affect her poorly. My girlfriend explained that she is allergic but the owner insisted that you could drink organic milk and be fine. They also have a $10 minimum on cards so we were forced to buy some okay cookies (they didnt have any gluten free pastries) to make the difference. The owner did seem apologetic in the end but it was still a tough experience.
Great coffee and atmosphere. Breve was great (2x) and there was a Nittany Lion (WE ARE) working so it was a great experience. Always great to find great local coffee shops.
Very laid back and artistic coffee shop, nice place to go relax, read a book or study. They have really fast WiFi as well, and the coffee is great.
Cute little coffee shop whos owner is very passionate and proud about it. Love this place ❤️
Visiting Allentown, wanted to support a small local coffee shop versus big corporate companies. Arrived and it was closed at 9am, with the open sign in the window. Their hours posted on google said they opened at 8am, however on the door it said they don’t open until 10am. Would have loved to try Have Java to give it a fair assessment, needless to say we got off on a disappointing start.
Great place to go for Open Mic and delicious drinks and snacks. I especially appreciate the organic and fair trade, non gmo selections.
The owner is very nice and hospitable. It has a cozy atmosphere.
Great little neighborhood coffee shop!
Love this place. Great service. And exceptionally good, real coffee. Not your Starbucks swill.
Its quiet and different from other coffee shops, service is for the most part good and doesnt take too long. The prices are fair and the coffee is pretty good.
Funky atmosphere, friendly staff, located in theater district. Cool place to hang out.
Awesome place. I did an open Mike and read some original poetry I wrote.
Open mic night is awesome. Met my boyfriend there!! Owner has a heart of gold...
Great food great drinks and great people slide through open mics every month,Thurs and sat 7-11 #H
Good coffee and the owner Dan is top notch
We were in town looking for an Open Mic to watch and found this place.First off its so small, there was no room to sit or stand. I tried standing towards the back where this lady working there yelled at me for leaning on syrup bottles (I wasnt even leaning on them, I was just standing next to them.)Then she says you have to buy a drink to watch (which I was going to do anyway but I was busy trying to find a spot to stand where all the hipsters werent staring at me.)Oh god that was another issue, all the hipsters staring. Then when I went to buy a drink she says its a $10 minimum. I didnt want to spend that much, we just wanted to listen to some horrible poetry. In the end we just left because of the unwelcoming abrasive attitude of the place.
This place boasts about its coffee quality, but more often than not, the coffee is not fresh or even hot.Additionally, the owner is consistently rude and inhospitable.Be ready to pay a lot and to be disappointed.
The ascetic of this place is the best and is the perfect place for a date.
Coffee was nice. Felt counter person. Was not well kept coughing. Place seemed little unkempt.
Fantastic coffee and on open mic nights great music.
A cute, quaint place. The owner is a hard worker. Great food, great coffee.
I appreciate the attention to detail, from the decor to the organic, fair-trade coffee, at Hava Kava. The owner was friendly, the tea selection was good, the tables were funky, and the art on the walls was very interesting. I like to see individuals with personality creating public spaces, and I recommend Hava Java as unique and high-quality.
Quaint and lovely. Excellent food and desserts.
Best organic coffee with the most amazing people. Fastest internet.
The coffee/espresso is pretty bad, and over priced. Would be nice to see the quality of baristas (and drinks) improve as the place is cozy and relatively welcoming.
Do not go here. The owners attitude is disgusting and the drinks are highly overpriced. Service took forever because she was busy lounging around and then yelled at me for simply looking at the array of flavored syrups that are OUT ON DISPLAY FOR THE PUBLIC TO SEE and told me not to touch that. Lady, relax. She then proceeded to watch me, making me feel uncomfortable, until I left the shop. The aesthetics are nice but its about the only thing that is slightly pleasant about this place. If I could rate lower than a star, I would. Not worth the trip. Will never be returning again, she does not deserve my money nor my time.
The leprecan brew was amazing while watching the St Patrick parade
Nice little coffee shop. Great hot cocoa :)
Great coffee, great muffin and bagels, we will be back for sure
The coffee was delicious, staff was friendly and very nice atmosphere.
Best Beans Around hands down
Great coffee, friendly staff, cool atmosphere, highly recommend.
Horrible customer service. I asked a simple question about the lattes and got cursed out. Not sure if she was the manager. But let me tell you these entitled liberals are destroying America.
Great coffee cake and meat pie. Wonderful owner.
Tiny little gem with very friendly owner! Atmosphere is artsy and welcoming although a bit small.
Amazing place and the owner is awsome, very personal, deff would recommend
Love this place! Organic Italian coffee....amazing!
Friendly ladies.. but a little over priced for the sizes they are offering.
I used to come to Hava Java years back almost regularly as I lived quite close. I thought it was a charming coffee shop with good coffee and a friendly atmosphere. I recently moved back to the Lehigh Valley and was eager to go back and grab a cup of coffee at Hava Java and get some work done. I was incredibly disappointed how downhill Hava Java has gone. The owner was really rude and short. I got my coffee in a tiny cup and it was lukewarm. The actual coffee was pretty good, but was ruined because it became cold in less the 10 minutes. I asked her a question about the wifi and she seemed extremely annoyed that I would dare interrupt her facebook browsing. It left a bad taste in my mouth....Not going back to Hava Java. -- Maybe start being nice to your patrons, Maam
Most excellent local coffee house.
Mexican hot cocoa was good.
Best coffee served at right temperature.Loved the place...
Great place to relax and grab a cafe drink
I am sorry but I did not enjoy with the espresso I drunk here. This local seems a speciality coffee business but I think They must improve their coffee skills.
Good specialty coffes, a bit pricey
Acted shocked that I wanted a coffee. Um...
During my comquest of the hava java journey and experience i had to unfortunately come to the realization that this place is trash and service was not the best and did not have the friendliest people.
Its a nice place i rate 10/10
Seemed kinda dirty in the seating area. Just looked uncared for. The coffee was weak. Probably wont return.
