I came with a friend as a new wig wearer to cover my colored hair for work. Mary was exceptional! She was so knowledgeable, patient and kind... I’ve never written a negative review but feel compelled by the way I was treated by Lawrence at LNY salon. I’ve been a client for almost a year and have the Malaysian sew in hair extensions which require an appt every 6 weeks for maintenance. It has become an ongoing joke with my best friend how often my appts were canceled and rescheduled. I’d wait 6 weeks for an appt and would be called the day before to inform me that I needed to reschedule due to a host of different excuses. i.e. my new hair hasn’t arrived in time, he had scheduled workers coming to his home on the day of my appt which was made 6 weeks in advance, etc… Once I realized his pattern, I started ordering my hair at my appt to guarantee it would in by the next appt in 6 weeks. After that excuse was eliminated, Lawrence came up with more excuses to cancel. Very unprofessional! Over the past year, I can honestly say there has been less than a handful of times my appt wasn’t rescheduled by Lawrence or someone from his staff.The reason I took the time to write this review is because of my final visit with Lawrence. The appt was originally scheduled on October 16th. I had family photos set for Halloween followed by a huge party hosted at my home. I thought for sure Oct. 16th is far enough in advance to ensure my hair would be done for my photos even if they called to reschedule. Of course, without fail, his staff called to reschedule. Then, the day before that rescheduled appt, Lawrence called to reschedule it AGAIN! Now, I was finally set for Oct. 30th the day before my huge event. On the 29th a powerful storm came through Atlanta causing several power outages. I arrived 15 minutes late to my appt on the 30th due to numerous traffic lights out causing heavy traffic that morning. When I arrived, his staff said Lawrence had left. They said, “He had to go somewhere, was not coming back and he had another appt after you.” Typically, I wait 10-15 minutes before I’m called back and always scheduled to be there 2-3 hours. I was in complete shock! How can someone be so disrespectful and unprofessional? I shouldn’t be surprised because in the short time I was there, I’ve seen about a dozen staff members come and go, probably because of the way Lawrence speaks to his staff so condescendingly.To be clear, I get my hair done because I like the way it looks when it’s long. However, after reading Lawrence’s responses to his negative reviews towards people who are suffering from hair loss due to chemotherapy, alopecia, etc… has left me with a horrible taste in my mouth. His responses with excuses, blame and insults to some who are suffering with a terminal illness is disgusting and repulsive. It makes me sick knowing he capitalizes on those going through such a difficult time in their lives. Lawrence is a rude, thoughtless, unprofessional person. He does a good job and has a lot of knowledge and expertise in his industry. But, his arrogant, disrespectful, pompous attitude should be shelved at the door before he starts each and every day as a business owner who specializes in wigs and interacts with sensitive, vulnerable people daily. I guess even under these circumstances, in Lawrence’s mind, the customer isn’t always right and he’ll tell you why. I have no doubt he’ll comment on this review with more excuses, blame, and insults like he does with all his past negative reviews. I refuse to give this joker another minute of my time to reply. For anyone reading this, I advise you to stay FAR away from this place!

LNY Salon was wonderful experience! I began chemo several weeks ago and hair loss was almost immediate. Due to Covid-19 shopping options in my area were very limited so I opted for purchasing a wig on line which was a mistake. The piece I received did not look like the color I chose and the style was quite off from the photos on line. Not knowing what to do, I spoke with my oncologist who referred me to LYN Salon. Since businesses were just starting to open, I left a message and received a call back within just a few hours to set an appointment. When I arrived on Saturday, I was met by the owner, Lawrence, wearing a mask and assuring me they were taking all protective measures and I could tell these people were very professional. Lawrence not only helped me find the right piece, color and style but he asked to see photos from before my hair loss and he carefully trimmed my selection to match the photos, I am still overwhelmed! He also looked at the piece I purchased on line and made some recommendations on how to improve the fit in case I still wanted to wear it as well. Overall, I am so happy to be able to look into a mirror and see ME again!

I visited LYN wigs in moral support of someone, but the experience was just as exciting for me as the shopper! This was my first experience with purchasing and wearing a wig.I would definitely recommend ( like anything in life) educating yourself about wigs ( various textures and processes used to make different wigs, synthetic vs human, etc) before you enter the store.I purchased a 100% human hair wig in anticipation of hair loss in coming weeks.I returned a little over a week later to pick up the wig and expectations of the styling/cutting educational session for wig care left a lot to be desired.1. I requested for some of the length to be cut ... I was told that wasn’t really recommended and I could travel back at a later date for that ( I traveled 3 + hours for this 1st time wig experience).2. I paid >$1000.00 for this human hair wig and was happy to do so as I felt assured that I was getting a quality product .... i was not pleased with the product.Staff is extremely nice but I do not think I would return for additional wig needs.

Went to Lawrence a second time this past weekend, first visit was in June. Both times had an amazing experience!! Have had hair loss from chemo. He makes what could be a very tough thing into something fun and wonderful! Love my girls, both the synthetic and real hair ones. Sold me a wig at almost double the standard retail price. Their custom wigs are probably great, their customer service is good (when theyre attempting to make a sale that is), so Im not giving a lower score, but honestly I think they are a rip off. Buyer beware - if buying a wig that isnt custom made, CHECK THE PRICE ONLINE FIRST because they are almost definitely marking it up 40% like they did to me. And no returns, even if unworn, even though they have no hesitation letting you try on every single wig in the store (I understand the need for hygeine but it only seems to matter to them when its convenient). Fool me once, and all that. Now I have a $300 wig I bought for $500.

We met with Lawrence to find a wig for my daughter who is starting chemo soon. He was so calm and easy to talk with. He had her try on several different ones she liked. She quickly found the one. Lawrence styled it for her, demonstrated how to care for it. He made what I thought was going to be a tense experience a very happy one. Ive suffered from multiple, severe autoimmune diseases which have resulted in significant hair loss. Its difficult to comprehend how much this affects your self-esteem unless youve experienced it yourself. Ive purchased multiple wigs online and never been very satisfied with the products, even ones that werent cheap and which I had trimmed by my regular hairstylist. Today I had my first appointment with Lawrence, and what a great experience. He worked within my budget and explained all my options, making the entire process fun and exciting. I left his salon a changed woman! I couldnt stop looking at myself in the mirror as we drove home, and I even went out to dinner with my family to celebrate - and for me, thats a big deal, because I usually am not up to going out anywhere. I chose two wigs from Lawrences large stock; one was in stock in the color I wanted, while the second is on order. Lawrence cut the in-stock wig to suit my head and face, and the result was superb. I know Im gushing, but thats how good I feel. If you are in need of a wig, I highly recommend LNY Hair Salon & Wig Boutique.

Super amazing help from Lawrence. Hes got a great stock of wigs and toppers to try on. Dont rule out a human/synthetic blend - he educated me in saying you can put up to 320 degrees of heat on them. You will come in Wednesday after 12 to pick it up, only to be told I havent had the chance to work on it yet, and I never said that itd be ready by today.Such gaslighting will continue once or twice more, and, when you have the audacity to write about your negative experience on Yelp or Google, you will be accused of being belligerent with staff because, on your THIRD trip to the salon, having driven 45 minutes each way each time, the piece STILL ISNT READY and the clips - the ones they promised to fix 3 times! - are still broken.But you dont have to take my word for it. Look how the owner responds to negative reviews here - with rudeness and gaslighting.

My mother was recentley diagnosed with cancer and looking for a wig. Lawerence and his team were not only unhelpful and cold hearted, but made my mom cry on this very emotional day for her. We set an appointment and arrived on time but were met with disdain. By the time they got to us, the store was full of people and my mother was completely ignored. They did not help us in picking out her wigs and didnt listen to her needs. She was crying when she started trying on wigs (as someone with cancer about to lose their hair would be) and the employees just walked away. She felt uncomfortable in this very uncomfortable time and I would not recommend anyone to go here.

Lawrence was fantastic! I walked in with my 15-year-old daughter who is fighting cancer and just starting to lose her hair. She entered LNY with a somber face. By the time Lawrence was done with her, she couldn’t stop smiling and was ready for her hair to be gone so her new gorgeous wig would fit her head better. I usually never leave negative reviews but I’ve felt slightly duped .I got blonde extensions. The first crown piece was too wide on my crown and they just felt very heavy. It was my first time using extensions and it almost felt like he was annoyed to explain to me how to insert them. Not sure if he was having a bad day, but overall I spent around $800 for heavy, too wide (when he measured my head), hand sewn extensions.And I drove over 2 hrs away for them. It wasn’t till later, when I colored my hair, got new extensions in nyc for less than half the price, (for real hair) I realized I over paid.The owner was a nice person but in my opinion LNY might be better for wigs 👌

I moved to Alpharetta about 2 years ago, and because I struggle with alopecia, I needed to find a wig salon fairly quickly. I first found the other salon in Alpharetta, but my experience was not good. The staff was not friendly, and when I left, I actually felt more ashamed and embarrassed about my condition than when I first went in. Also, I was talked into purchasing a human hair wig which I had explicitly told the salesperson I did not want. Of course, I was not happy with my purchase, but all they would do is steam it each time I went back. It was obvious they had no concern at all about my dissatisfaction with the wig. Now I am stuck with a $600 plus wig that I will never wear.Fortunately, I did another salon search and found LNY, and I am happy to say that my experience there was completely different. First of all, they have walls full of wigs on display that you can actually see and try on. It’s more fun than shopping for shoes! Secondly, the owner, Lawrence, is so friendly and laid back, and absolutely hilarious, that I didn’t even mind taking off my wig in front of him at all, though he does have a private area if you prefer. Finally, He will do everything possible to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. When I leave his shop, I feel so confident and beautiful and ready to take on the world thanks to the warm and caring environment Lawrence creates in his store. But why keep reading my review? Go and see for yourself!

I hate I had to go through this, seeing how amazing of an experience many others on the board view Lawrences work (4-5 stars), but my experience with Lawrence was undesirable, to say the least. I recently drove by the shop and was immediately triggered by the encounter (hard to forget). I remember being extremely ambitious about meeting Lawrence because I had done my homework, so to speak...reading reviews, etc. I saw a few complaints and exchanges that took place between Lawrence and ppl complaining, but I went ahead, sweeping the people who made mention of their disservice under the rug. But anyway, I asked if Lawrence could duplicate a wig (with a headband...like another one I had, except I wanted this wig to be with human hair). He seemed so knowledgeable of wigs that the skepticism I had about paying money UPFRONT was almost removed. I wanted to trust him. He gave me a timeline of 2-3 weeks and assured me I would have the wig in time for my graduation....This was NOT the case. I got anxious waiting for the follow up hed promised. When I WAS called, it was because he had trouble finding a headband to attach the hair to. He actually asked if I had a headband for him to use. For the amount of money I paid him for this wig ($400), I expected there to be no questions about anything of the sort. At any rate, 2 became 3 weeks and I recall emailing and begging him to respond (since graduation was a few days away). He seemed irritated. Once I got the wig, I was so disgusted. The quality was extremely poor and his demeanor was the same. I never wore the wig (halloween I recall). People who saw the finished product were just as disappointed. What do you do? I wouldve hoped he would have had enough in me to not charge me, but I was out of luck (because I paid upfront). I hope this helps someone. I will be the outlier on Google for the sake of helping the eager beaver I was when I checked reviews and saw nothing indicating he could display such poor manner. Maybe he picks which clients he wants to impress. Idk. I expected more, because accountability and humanity. Love and light. xoxo
