I went to inquire on an item and Rob was helping, after I was done I told him I will be back, let me think about it but I asked for another item and he helped me immediately with that too, I just thought there is no need in wasting time that I dont have :) to be honest and get the item here, he was very honest, kind, genuine, sincere..... in helping, this help to be honest I do not get from any of those other stores that we can think of so please ask for him when you go there, I told him as I was leaving that Customers do not really have time to search around and they know when they see the right stuff and good person helping them and I would spend couple of more dollars if I know I am getting the right item and the best advice and service

Ace truly is the place! Most stores around this area dont offer small engine repairs so its nice to have a reliable option in Ace. Ive taken my chainsaw here a couple times, honest and quick service!

I can’t say that my experience at this Ace location was great. My fiancé and I were looking around for a part for his Kamado Joe Grill. We always shop at Ace, so we are pretty familiar with the store and where everything usually is. As we were browsing, one of the male workers walked up to us and asked if we needed help with anything. We responded by saying we were good, thank you. Usually the employees response would be somewhere along the lines of “okay let me know if you need help with anything”. Instead he decided to linger around and then his response was sarcastic. He said “Well when people go to a hardware store they are usually looking for something specific”. Yeah I’ll never shop at this location again. I felt so uncomfortable. Being profiled really sucks.

Tonia was very helpful when I called up the store and asked about a certain nail she knew exactly what I was talking about and told me yes you guys carry it. She has always been a pleasure to talk to when Ive called or came into the store.

Employee by the name of Dave made my fiancé and I feel extremely uncomfortable!!First, I do not look like your typical Ace Hardware shopper. I certainly realize that based on the multiple visits to the Ace Hardware near my home in Woodstock (Morgans Ace Hardware; I cannot recommend them enough). However, Ive never been treated any differently when visiting that store - theyre fantastic.This was NOT the case with Crabapple Ace Hardware. On June 12, 2021 at approximately 11:00am, my fiancé (black female) and I (biracial male) entered the store in hopes of finding a heat deflector plate for a Kamado Joe. We quickly realized that they did not sell KJ products and were a Big Green Egg dealer. Cool, no problem! Despite not having what I wanted, I figured I could still look at their selection of lump charcoal, bbq rubs, Weber Kettle accessories, etc. They did have a nice selection, Ill give them that.After being in the store for a few moments, we were approached by Dave. He first asked my fiancé if she needed help and she politely declined. He made it a point to stay there despite being told no. As I walked down the isle toward them he looked at me and asked the same. Judging off Daves tone, body language and overall demeanor, he was not truly seeking to assist us. He was suspicious of us and that was very apparent!I declined his assistance as well and Dave then said in a snarky tone, Well most people come into a hardware store looking for something specific. He then awkwardly remained there making us both very uncomfortable. Both my fiancé and I knew exactly what was going on at that point as it was very apparent. Instead of escalating the issue with Dave we decided to leave.Luckily for us, as we were leaving, we noticed that a new Urban Hardware had just opened across the street. The store was new, clean and the associates were more than helpful. They also carry Kamado Joe products and have an even bigger grilling selection. The experience at Urban Hardware was much better than Crabapple Ace Hardware!Im not entirely sure what Daves prejudice was? Was it because were both young? Was it because my fiancé is black? Was it because Im of mixed races? Was it because were in a interracial relationship? Not sure, but its clear who Dave seeks to serve and who Dave does not want shopping there.

I called ahead three times looking for a specific item and was told each time that it was in stock only to drive 20 minutes to get there and be told they didnt have it. I was more insistent each time I called to confirm it was there before making the drive, but still left empty handed after each trip. Frustrating to say the least. I am sure not all experiences are as bad as mine, but I wont be back.

Ever since theyve opened theyve always provided me great service, went to the store this morning and Rob took care of me he was fantastic! All their staff is very friendly and knowledgeable!

I’ve always enjoyed stopping in here instead of one of the larger chain hardware stores but when I came by last week, I was surprised and disappointed to see both male associates in the store were unmasked. The female clerk at the counter had mask and gloves which is wonderful but I did not feel comfortable with the male associates both coming up to talk with me unmasked. If you are not going to enforce your mask rule with your employees, can you kindly post a sign outside on your window so those people who are at risk can make the choice to shop or not?I felt I should post so others will not be caught off guard as I was.

Two issues with this establishment, one very serious, one less serious - just a case of poor customer service. Significant issue first. The store management and employees do not take appear to take the importance of wearing face covering (masks) seriously. A manager with his mask down on his chin, many other employees with noses protruding above their masks?? I felt safer sky diving for the first time than I feel walking into this store right now. I do not know if this is a political statement or simply ignorance of the potential consequences. I DO know that Im never going back into that establishment to find out.The less significant issue...I bought a number of LED light bulbs a few weeks ago, one of them failed (burned out?) after being in use for just one month. The package promises a life of 17 years - I would settle for 15 years, even 12 years but one month??? I spoke with Howard, a manager, about a replacement bulb. Howard committed the classic customer service error, he blamed the customer for the problem. Oh, your fixture must have a short, the fixture must not be wired correctly, etc. Really? The somewhat high-end fixture has been in use for ten years and has never ruined a light bulb before. I left him with the bad bulb as I left the store.

Our neighborhood hardware store is full of helpful folks and just about anything I need without having to waste a lot of time at the Big Box store. Thanks...

I was recently an employee for this family owned Ace Hardware store. I want the public and consumers to know that this is a wonderful family that owns this particular store as well as a (staff) work team. They strive to provide the best customer service. The staff and owners work hard weekly to stock excellent quality products. Shopping at AceHardware Crabapple is not only a great place to find you household and project needs but it is truly a wonderful shopping experience. The employees are very knowledgeable and very personable.

The staff here is excellent and incredibly knowledgeable. I have purchased everything from tools, lawn care, paint and other hardware from this place over the years. This is my go-to hardware store; especially, when I am unsure of the supplies I might need for the project.

Normally I’m not a big fan of Ace. All of my previous interactions have been with a bunch of boomers just killing time who don’t know a bolt from a screw. Shortly after moving to the area I needed a new chain for my Stihl saw and they had them in stock. Sales associates were knowledgeable and very helpful in making sure I got what I needed and quickly got back to chorin’. Shortly after that HD had zero stock of old work electrical boxes - Ace came through again. This location is really making me rethink my HD pro account...

My family has been loyally shopping at the Arnold Mill Ace Hardware since the late 90s. After todays experience though, we will not return until after the Covid-19 pandemic is over. Not a single sales associate was wearing a mask or taking any government-recommended precautions. Our past loyalty to Ace was based on the individual care and attention which they give their customers. I was shocked since Ace is the first store Ive entered in this area with no employees wearing masks. This blatant disregard for the safety of their customers and their employees (and their employees families) was quite disappointing. For the time being, I would warn anyone who takes the science behind this pandemic seriously to avoid this location.

The blonde young woman who assisted me was very helpful and one of the few that were wearing protection masks for covid and practicing social distancing. however your selection of tools and equipment is not as wide as said to be. will not be returning for safety and health reasons!

I wish I could give more stars, but even two is pushing it. The store is cluttered, disorganized, and a maze all around. On top of all this, the service was terrible. Absolutely awful. Management in this establishment is SUBPAR at most. They will eventually run this place to the ground. With the exception of two or three employees, the entire staff has shown tremendous inadequate performance. To make matters worse, I just found out that one of the good ones, the young one with the blonde hair, had been fired! Such a shame wasting all that potential. I love ace hardware, I do, but I can no longer support a store that shows such a lack of judgement. I will be taking my business to Home Depot from now on.

They have everything, I dont know how they do, but they do. Parking is very challenging with a small and oddly shaped lot, and the store is hidden off the main road. As always, though, friendly service each and every time.

This Ace Hardware is the reason people are avoiding the big box stores -- you receive personal, friendly service, and you dont have to walk over 5 acres to find something. This is exactly what we needed in Crabapple, and I applaud store owner Herb for hiring well, focusing on providing an exceptional customer experience, and making our neighborhood a better place to live. I am always in and out of this store quickly. It helps that there is always someone there politely greetings customers and directing them to the right area of the store. If you need extra help, that person will do that too.

Love this place! When I need to bring my kids on a trip they treat them to some popcorn and always make us feel welcomed. They carry quality products and you can always depend on the staff.

If the average homeowner needs it ACE Hardware has it. Very friendly and knowledgeable employees. It is a little out of the way which makes it difficult to find. But it is worth the effort.

Great place to shop. I love going there because you get one-on-one help AND they actually have a fairly big selection. So much better than one of the big chains.

New-ish Ace and a welcome alternative to the big-box hardware outlets.Im from farther south and we had (and still have) Ace stores in my home town.  The prices are higher on some items, lower on others, but you dont have to provision for a safari to find somebody to help you find what youre looking for, as is the case at Lowes or HD.We zoomed in for some potting soil and a trenching shovel to get the herb garden going.  No nonsense, in-and-out, and the staff was nice.Knowing that youre supporting a local business should matter.  Visit Ace Hardware first when youre planning a project...you may be pleasantly surprised by the price and advice.

We called to check on an item shown on their website as available for pickup today. First a young girl told me no it was not in stock. When I questioned her she got someone else to look and then said it was in stock. When we arrived after driving 20 min guess what? They didnt have the one we needed (and specially asked for) after all. We wont be back anytime soon!
